I was a little disappointed with this property. Seeing I’ve traveled to other Shangri-La’s, I was expecting something different. This property isn’t large at all, the hallways are very narrow, there’s no lounge area, they have a small restaurant with a bar which was lovely. The hotel is not in pristine shape, it’s quite run down for a luxury hotel. I’d expect these conditions at a Marriott or Ritz Carlton, but not at a Shangri-La. The location was great, right downtown, walkable to many things. Close to the water and all the shops on Robson. High end stores within minutes. Everything for me was within a few minute walk. The views are also terrible due to the location and there aren’t a lot of amenities. The hotel is so small they only had one steam room in the women’s change room and the sauna was in the men’s. Which I found odd but I guess they were tight for space. You do really really that everything was tight and narrow. All that being said, the staff were exceptional right from when I stepped out of my Uber right till when I checked out. I would recommend this place but I wouldn’t except luxury. The restaurant was fine, the food wasn’t over the top but it did the trick, and they were very accommodating.

Such an amazing place to stay! Every single staff member from housekeeping to front desk were phenomenal and made the stay so much better. The spa and carlino restaurant is what we had tried and both were amazing as well with service and food tasted good! Definitely recommended for a restful stay.

We were treated horrible for coming from the states. There was dill pickles in the lobby! They didn’t honor our VIP credit. The spa is a disappointment has no steam room for the men and the sauna wasn’t warm. Vincent acted aggressive and they didn’t honor $50 inconveniences credit. Our bedding had someone else’s blood stains. Baris was rude and it took 40 min to check in because they gave us someone else’s room with their cookie amenity. Very rude staff and they serve spoiled food and there negligence could have caused us food poisoning.I would never recommend this motel 6 of a hotel this should be stripped from Forbes and pictures will be sent to them.

Normally a hotel like this would be out of my price range but found a very good promotion on Expedia so was happy to give it a try. It is a very nice hotel and great location. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, I really enjoyed my stay here. Note that there are two addresses for this hotel, the Alberni St one is the one that will take you closest to the check in area. Uber drivers were not familiar with it as it goes into the underground parking so you might have to instruct them where to go.

The hotel staff was beyond exceptional- very helpful and friendly. They recommended a restaurant for lunch and advised the restaurant to expect us and when we arrived we received great seats, a special little treat from the chef- made us feel great! Rooms were very clean.gym incredible and nice pool.

Housekeeping at this Hotel arrives fairly early in the morning and if you have your do not disturb but pushed during this time, they will not clean and replenish supplies crucial to your stay. I had to ask the hotel staff three times in one day to, at the very least, replenish supplies. They finally did so around 7pm with added benefit of cleaning the room as well.

It would have been preferred that the room would’ve been cleaner. We are Vancouver residents who regularly stay in 5 star hotels, but for a price tag as large as this one I was expecting a little bit more out of my stay. My room was not as clean as I would have hoped, nor was the pool, filled with leaves, and even shells and some bugs. This was our first stay at the Shangri La but I have heard good reviews from peers of mine so I’m sure this was a once off, I’d maybe consider revisiting but some time down the line as it was a little bit of a let down.

Staff checking in had zero discretion in front of my guest. Made it sound like I was there regularly. We have a 2lb baby Pomeranian that almost choked on multiple things from under the bed. The underside was full of ointment bottles. Krazy glue bottle. Tiny samples from other hotels At least when we told in advance we had a small dog with us someone could have checked the room for hazards. #702. Very loud street noise

This is a very nice hotel and very clean. You could hear the street noise but that is very minor. We stayed in a king room with a balcony and the room was very nice. The only downside was no plug ins by the bed and the room has carpet.

Excellent staff although we felt nobody was really around which seemed odd. But, definitely readily available on request. Our room felt outdated and cheaply furnished considering the price per night. Bathroom is beautiful however and the features throughout were innovative.

Large room. Promptly took care of our needs. Noteworthy was the evening before departure I went to the concierge and asked for a cab to airport at 545am a bellhop at 535 and my bill when I got to my room. Went for a drink and it all happened to the minute. That’s service.

I booked this hotel for a five day business trip. Four days before my flight my mother had a terrible accident and on the day I was due to travel she was booked in for emergency surgery. It was a deeply stressful and frightening time. I had to cancel my trip, as any decent person would. Expedia were amazing. They understood right away and even called the hotel several times, confident Hyatt Vancouver Alberni would show some humanity and allow me to move my booking by one week. They were wrong. The hotel refused completely. No compassion. No care. No sense of decency. I wasn’t asking for a refund. I only wanted to change the dates. I was told I’d already been given a “substantial discount” for choosing the non refundable option. That supposed discount was less than a breakfast. To call that substantial is an insult. They also tried to blame Expedia's policy which was not true, as confirmed by Expedia. I am a CEO who books hotels for myself and my staff all over the world. I can say with absolute certainty that I will never use a Hyatt property again. This experience showed me exactly what kind of company they are. Heartless when it matters most. Thankfully, I rebooked at L’Hermitage Hotel, where the staff were kind, compassionate and professional. The contrast was shocking. L’Hermitage has my loyalty from now on when I visit Vancouver. Hyatt Vancouver Alberni has lost it forever.

Great location. Nice lobby and spa floor. Remainder of hotel is somewhat drab, particularly for the price point and star rating. Rooms are nice but a bit underwhelming. Check-in staff was friendly but fairly unaccommodating when issues arise - my wife was not allowed to check in without me (I was on a plane) unless the reservation was changed to her name and she used her own payment methods. A bit surprising to say the least. Nothing to make up for the inconvenience. The Fairmont Pacific Rim looks beautiful for appx the same price.

Run don't walk to the Hyatt Downtown Vancouver (formerly Shangri-La). Best concierge ever, world-class service. Food and in-room dining are great. Turndown service is amazing. The staff were incredible and had attention to detail like I've not seen in any other 5-star establishment. The interiors of the hotel are so chic and beautiful. I could not highly recommend enough. I will definitely be staying here again.

Located in the financial hub of Vancouver, the Hyatt Alberni is convenient for the shops and restaurants on Robson Street and near to the cruise terminal. The junior suite that I had was spacious and well maintained. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommended for pre-cruise accommodation.

Shangri-La Vancouver is a fantastic hotel in downtown Vancouver. Easy walking distance to Stanley Park, English Bay, and Gastown means that you're very close to anything you might want to do in Vancouver. Alberni and Robson streets are home to some of the best places to eat in Van City, so you will never be hungry. Simply a great hotel in a great location.

From the moment we arrived we felt pampered. Valet parking attendents were friendly, very efficient and we didn't have to go to the main lobby to check-in as there was a check-in desk as soon as your walked into the hotel after leaving our car with the valet. Check-in was fast and not only did we get a room upgrade to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, we received 4 upgrades. We also received a bottle of champagne (Prosecco) and some Nanaimo bars in our room to celebrate. Such a great touch and so much appreciated. We found every single person who worked at the Shangri-la to be people focused and focused on ensuring our stay was meeting, if not exceeding our expectations. They exceeded our expectations in all cases but one, the restaurant Carlino. Carlion is a Michelin recommended restaurant so we had reserved a table for our celebartion. We were seated promptly, our server was duly attentive. He recommended wine and the pasta special for our entree. We shared a salad to start and it was delicious. The pasta special however was terrible. Neither of us liked it all. Our server said we could order something different which we did. Our second entrees, were only just okay. Very disappointing. We would not eat at Carlino again. The hotel is fantastic and we do highly recommend it.

Employees are lovely and service is incredible. Shout out to Lexon in the lounge! It’s much quieter than being located on the harbour if you’re sensitive to noise. Towels could use replacing and shower was as hot and cold as my ex mother in-law lol. Ending on a positive note, the food is next level and personal touches cannot be overlooked. Thank-you for having me.

We had a FANTASTIC stay at Shangri La Vancouver! The concierge was amazing and gave us numerous recommendations (shout out to Leah especially!). The bartenders and drinks were superb. Great location - we walked and took public transit everywhere. Gorgeous rooms. We can't wait to stay here again!

Shangri-La Vancouver was an exceptional stay with respectful staff, a large room size for two, and a location at the heart of downtown. The daily evening service was appreciated, with kind staff and many complimentary goods. The included breakfast at Carlino (bib gourmand) also had a calm ambiance, alongside its great menu and city view. It was walking distance from most if not all the prominent landmarks and locations of the downtown area.
