For the price, it exceeded our expectations. The pool was in great condition. Front desk staff was excellent. The coffee was good, but I'd go someplace else for breakfast. Nothing walkable, but a ton of options are very nearby.

This property is in need of major upgrades. The buildings need to be power washed. Wasp nest in various spots on the stairs. Uneven steps which makes it a hazard if your not being careful. The basketball court isnt available as seen in the pictures due to the staff telling me that too many fights were happening. Inside the 2 bedroom loft, the carpet needs to be cleaned. The lights in the restrooms were dirty, the lamps were dusty. The refrigerator was missing a handle. I came with my own cleaning supplies so some issues I rectified on my own. I wouldn't dare stay here again.

Upon checking in, we were told we couldn’t checkin until 5pm. The room was dirty, smelled horrible and had no toiletries or towels in the room. There was construction going on and no where to park. The area was very muddy.

There was large construction going on adjacent to hotel. Was not warned at all about it!!! We were kept up most of the night (on multiple days) from noise from other quests. Seem like there is no sound baffling between the room Room was okay. Internet good. I would consider staying there again if there was no active construction and they improve the noise issue

Decided to break for the night after 12 hours on the road. Clearly I was exhausted when I chose the hotel. Looked good enough, but I should have looked more closely at the reviews. The hotel appears to be an old apartment complex turned hotel, with a nearly impossible to find lobby and very little updating. Carpet was filthy, walls were dirty, the shower was dingy with little pressure and virtually no hot water, the toilet ran off and on all night and the air conditioner sounded like a sonic boom every time it cycled on. The icing on the cake was the unexpected LOUD construction and repaving of the parking lot right outside our room that started at 7:30 in the morning. Lesson learned: don’t drive twelve hours and then try and make a wise decision about where to lay your tired head.

noisy, both by proximity to I-95 and the AC compressor right outside cranking up every two hours at 90db. when you check in, it is $5 to park? There’s a road-free-right next to the property! Overpriced but soacious. These obviously were studio apartments that went under.

When I arrived there was no handicap parking spaces due to construction had I known I never would have booked a room there. It was extremely difficult to get around. Mrs Carol at the desk explained she uses a cane but that wasn’t comforting to me. As I use oxygen and a rollator walker. I had to slam the outside door because it wouldn’t lock otherwise Had to force the bathroom door open because it was stuck. My room had no towels for 3 people kitchen wasn’t equipped with the necessary things needed to cook or clean. TV service went out due to a power surge. The daytime safe was very helpful. This is disappointing and makes me not want to use your establishment for further services. I do hope this doesn’t fall on deaf ears something needs to be done.

Grossest hotel I’ve stayed at in 30 years. The floors were greasy and the countertops and tables had grime. We wiped one paper towel across the surface and it came out brown. The only saving grace was the sheets were clean. I will not stay at this hotel again. You would expect more for the price they charged.

Kitchen was great and room was large. There was no soap in either the shower dispenser or by the sink. The bottom sheet on one of the beds was dirty or stained. The carpet seemed dirty and outdated and the cabinet door by the bathroom sink was falling off.

My room was dirty. There were crumbs left on the counter, hair in the sink and on the towels, and the sheets were not clean. I had to call housekeeping to have the room cleaned. Will not be revisiting this hotel again.

Rooms we're dirty. Never been clean just wiped down. All carpets were dirty. One room the carpet had blood stains. I do not recommend this place. Stay away. Staff lady was really nice. Other than that, purely disgusting.

The room was dirty with candy wrappers and dirty paper towels on the table and chairs. The kitchen floor was sticky, furniture was worn out and had to sit on pillows and other cushions to get off of it. Outside there were cigarette butts and other trash on the stairs. Dirt and cobwebs stuck to the outside of the building. Not a well maintained property.

Hotel located between two highways. Convenient for travel but you hear trucks and motorcycles all day and night. Coffee was not drinkable for any of the 3 days we stayed. OK, if you want to cook in instead of eating out cuz local food was pretty bad.

Principally a good hotel (or rather motel). However, it is situated very close to a highway. The window of our bedroom did not shield the noise, not at all. It was either not properly working or simply not of the necessary quality to keep out the noise. Hard to believe that this is not taken care of at a place so close to a very busy road (much traffic, including very noisy trucks).

When I first checked in my room wasn't ready had to wait. Once I got into the room the toilet wouldn't flush. Called the front desk and they said maintenance was not available until tomorrow morning. She offed to move me in to another room but I was tired and ready to turn in for the evening. Thankfully the toilet strted flushing. For the next two mornings I showered with no hot water, the water was cold. I didnt bother to call the front desk because maintenance only works certain hours during the day.

I stayed for a week and it was a great place to stay. Has all the comforts of home, it’s like an apartment. Beds are super comfortable, the kitchen comes equipped with everything you need from dishes, silverware, pots and pans. I will definitely be staying again sooner than later.

This was the worst experience I ever had at a es sonesta. The staff worked without any urgency or care. They barely answered the phone and the wait in line for anything at the front desk took 15 minutes. The staff didn’t help and didn’t seem to try to address any concerns and when I asked for the corporate number I was giving a pamphlet for their rewards program and the card to the manager which already didn’t care from the day before. Grills were horrible as well as the utensils. It was so many issues from the minute I checked in until I left.

The overall stay was just not so great. First the service when checking in was not friendly at all. They do not warn you that they will be placing a hold for 500 plus the room. Most hotels I’ve been to hold 50-100. Then you can tell they haven’t vacuumed the room or clean the tubs. Check out was good. The gentleman was very nice. Smoke detectors hanging from the celling. Also, the AC didn’t work and called 2x with no answer.

I arrived at 3:10 to check in, and they told me the rooms weren't ready. (Which of course is a lie; the hotel was empty.) Check-in was at 4:00 p.m. A black woman was acting very mocking. Then they told me if I wanted to get in, I had to pay an extra $27 for early check-in. By that time, it was already 3:20 a.m., so there was no room for it. Paying for early check-in 40 minutes earlier!!! Horrible!! And if you want to check out, you have to pay an extra $27. And they also pay $5 extra for parking per car... Good customer service doesn't exist here.

This is a well run business. The front desk is particularly impressive with client-management and response to needs. Ms. Carol is one seasoned veteran in that regard, firm but very fair. Professional yet warm enough to accommodate your needs but just come correct and be honest. Customers should just endeavor to respect the property because some dog owners are unscrupulous by not picking up after their pets with human size poops. Overall, I’d recommend Sonesta ES without any reservation and in clear conscience.

Hotel clerk was rude and dishonest, Rooms were dirty. I left and she did not given any type of refund. Went to the Christiana branch and they helped me try to get some resolution Be ware of this location and the lady that works during the day. Not a bit friendly or helpful

Check-in was at 4:00, but we didn’t arrive until after 6:00pm and our room was still not ready. We had to wait for another 30 minutes in the lobby after driving for seven hours. We had received an email room upgrade offer, but it wasn’t available either. The room smelled like cigarette smoke, but was clean for the most part. The continental breakfast had a good variety of options. The grounds were not well kept and everywhere you turned you smelled weed being smoked by guests.

Not too much to say. Didn't really hang around the hotel. It's just an old Marriott hotel. I was disappointed in that. Nothing to me said it's a Sonesta brand. It was just an okay hotel. I wouldn't stay here alone. Didn't feel like it would be the safest place for a woman.

We were very disappointed with our stay. The room was so dirty, shampoo and wash dispensers were empty, soap dish was not cleaned and had residue, and the room smelled like smoke with air freshener covering it up. During the night there was a loud generator running on and off. And to have breakfast only go to 9am is fairly early to end the service.

No where in the description stated that if your stay is less than a week there would be no maid service. They do exchange towels upon request. Breakfast was over cooked all 3 days. No body wash in shower even after I told them, and said they would fix that. People above us you can hear them stomping across us at all hours. Ceiling was falling down. How did the get this current rating? Days inn at best.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT: it is not the big building in their pictures, that building is their other property but when brought to their attention, property didn’t care and Expedia can not do anything once you’re already booked, Expedia can only give you a $25 OneKey credit. The room doesn’t look as nice as the pictures. It’s DIRTY and quite old, maybe the pictures are from when they first opened. Cons:Not the same building as in their pictures.The carpet is REALLY dirty, our socks were disgustingly dirty after walking around the room for about 2 hours.The utensils were not washed well.The tub was still dirty.The walls had food stains or something.The sofa had something black stuck to it.The kitchen chairs were wobbly to the point that it can come part anytime soon.Kitchen table was dirty, I used one of their little towels to just wet wipe down every surface in the room and that white towel wasn’t white anymore.There was a smell in the room that we couldn’t tell what it was but there was a strange smell, probably from the dirty carpet.There were also smells of marijuana or something similar as we were walking to our room from the parking lot.The morning guest service lady wasn’t pleasant to talk to.They stop making coffee after 9am. Pros:The beds are comfy. The night guest service gal has pleasant to talk to.Breakfast was ok but pancake machine stopped working.They had breakfast taco(too spicy for kids to eat though), cereals, bagels, breads,muffins,canned fruits, bagged oatmeal.

Overall, I was very pleased with the ES Sonesta in Newark DE. The suite was large and comfortable. Everything was in good condition. The kitchen is fully appointed. Grounds were well maintained. Staff was friendly & helpful. Breakfast was pretty good. I don't trust the pancake making machine because I don't know what the ingredients are, it's probably full oif really unhealthy stuff. And there was nothing provided to recycle cans or plastic bottles. But everything else was excellent.
