Nice hotel but the leisure area needs some attention, very dated and jacuzzi wouldn’t work properly. Plenty of choice for breakfast and a good evening menu. Unfortunately the staff did more talking than clearing the tables in the evening. Breakfast was very good but staff shortages meant there were only 2 people serving and clearing. One of the two coffee machines were out of order so again a lot of waiting around.

The hotel needs refurbishing. The hot tub, steam room were not working. The pool appeared not clean. Outside the pond needs to be cleaned out. The sofas in the bar area are not comfortable. The restaurant had leaking water from the ceiling.

Our room in the square block (we’d seen the unnecessary negative reviews before we’d arrived) behind the pretty white main house, came as a very pleasant surprise. The room was newly furnished, to a high standard and spotlessly clean. Positive feedback….great for one night, but a little more storage or even a couple more wall hooks to pop coats and hang towels etc are needed. The real added bonus was the lovely warm pool, hot, hot-tub and steam & sauna rooms, just perfect, when you’ve been outdoors all day! Breakfast was good quality and plentiful. Sausage & bacon could’ve been cooked a little longer for me to be honest and the hot plate needed turning up to keep the buffet food hot. The toaster made nice warm bread (these are again meant as positive criticisms) The pastries were really good and a nice selection of fruit. All the staff were extremely friendly and the whole place had a very welcoming feel. For the price we paid it really was great value and I would have no hesitation in recommending or re-booking this hotel when we are next in the area. Many thanks!

All the staff were brilliant, friendly and efficient. The leisure centre was relaxing and spotless although I would have liked the jacuzzi to have been a little hotter. The hotel is very interesting with many small lounges. The hotel is easy to find and has lovely views and grounds.

A beautiful hotel with historic features. We stayed in the house which is quiet and we had a view of the fields. The swimming is very clean and the jacuzzi was relaxing we had the whole pool to ourselves, it has a small sauna and steam room which needs to be warmer. The Reception had a beautiful Christmas tree and the bar area is relaxing with a lovely sitting room. The staff work hard and make you feel welcome. The room was spacious with sash windows, no snacks provided like the other group hotels we have visited. The floor boards in the room need fixing but it’s an old building. We visited Millets farm to see the Christmas lights, would recommend. Abingdon is a nice town with a mix of independent shops and top high street brands. This is our second visit and we would return. Who doesn’t love the Cotswolds ❤️

I read the reviews of the hotel from others and it's fair to say that away from the really friendly hotel staff the hotel is in a dire state or repair and overhaul. We stayed in a deluxe family room and the hotel kindly made up 3 beds. A large room with a super king bed and all the items needed for a stay but was incredibly run down with staining, carpets pulling up, mould and rusting along with low maintenance, it didn't feel like a cleaned room. Such a shame as the actual property has potential. The reception area is probably the nicest area to sit in with it's mahogany wood cladding and furnishings. On our stay, we utilized the leisure facilities, mainly the pool and Jacuzzi, however there is a small sauna, steam room and changing rooms. It's fuss free and offers you the elements for a good spa experience however it also needs regular cleaning and maintenance. We stayed in the hotel for dinner and had a evening meal in the restaurant which was pleasant and again the staff are friendly and very polite.

Having stayed at Milton Hill House several times before, I was quite disappointed this visit. Firstly upon stood at the reception to check in the staff continued with their noisy conversation for a while. I was made to wait a few minutes to be checked in!! Then after a long journey, I arrived at my room to freshen up, to find the shower only dribbled. Very poor start indeed. After a lengthy trek bad to reception I was offered a different room. Thankfully it was a nice quiet room where the shower worked with running water, which was worth the aggro of moving everything to another room. I used the leisure facilities to find the pool/ hot tub was dirty, changing rooms very small, and the gym was rather basic. The whole facilty is in need of TLC as paint was peeling off window frames, weeds were growing everywhere, carpets were discoloured, and everywhere looked pretty tired. Saying that i do like the location, the history of the house, and the delightful Izzy on reception went out of her way to ensure my stay was as enjoyable as possible.

The building and grounds were very good and also the service from the staff. The decor in the room needed attention with marks on the walls (Room 407) and paint peeling off in places. The toilet did not flush correctly and the only thing that let it down formbeing an excllent review was the decor in the bedroom, the rest of the hotel was lovely with a lot of character.

The hotel was busy when we arrived and there was only 1 member of staff who was clearly struggling although putting on a cheerful face. We were told the restaurant was fully booked till 8pm but we were not worried, there was a room service menu in the room, telephone did not work so walked to reception to be told no room service today! The room itself was very tired, yellow and sticky on the skirting boards, furniture scratched and worn. The bathroom had not been cleaned thoroughly so much so that you could see an imprint on the windowsill where someone had sat on it before getting dressed! We were woken up up at 5.15am by furniture being dragged around in the restaurant below us, this went on for 15 minutes, the staff had no thought about the time or noise they were creating. Breakfast was ok but very little left in the buffet, no croissants, no service, I could go on … We had booked for 3 nights but left after 1, never to return.

It was OK but the room was very small although clean and functional. The facilities were good - pool was OK but needed a good cleaning. We chose to eat out as prices and quality didn't look great and the overall exterior was welcoming until we were told that we were in a block which externally look a mess.

Pool was nice. Ladies Changing rooms dirty and unkept. Room was cold, only heater was a plug in oil heater took a while to warm up. Breakfast was good quailty and friendly cleaning/breakfast room staff.

We needed a room that night and the very helpful, friendly, receptionist was excellent. The hotel is a beautiful, heritage, building set in extensive grounds that has been tastefully modernised. The only rooms available were standard twins which are small but very well appointed for a short stay.

We stayed in room 209 in the outer section of the hotel. The room was clean and spacious but ridiculously hot! No air con and the fan provided just moved around hot air. Due to the time of year being July and summer months we feel the hotel should have air con like other hotels especially for the price we paid to stay at the hotel (£160 per night) The hotel is run down and could do with a lick of paint, to freshen it up. Looks like the air conditioning in the main hotel had been leaking too, water marks around the units in the restaurant. The food was delicious, we throughly enjoyed dinner and service was good. Be warned they only accept card not cash. Would return if they upgrade the rooms with air con and has a freshen up.

We loved the hotel when we arrived. Beautiful period building. Reception area fantastic. Unfortunately we were not in the main building! Driving to a different car park and the Garden rooms we were confronted by a complete eyesore. Very disappointing. The rooms however were a different story. The beds were very comfortable with quality bedding. Lovely thick towels and toiletries provided in the bathroom. We ate at the hotel which was good but we were shown to a separate area, the Italian “something” and the actual restaurant looked much nicer. Overall I would stay again especially if on a deal (which we weren’t but most other guests seemed to be!)

had to move rooms as the damp walls and peeling plaster in the first room just didn't appeal! The second room was better, but eas still damp and cold. Oh and the bathroom floor tiles were loose!! The mattress!... I'd definitely recommend it to an enemy! The above said, the staff were helpful and polite!

Check in was easy and the Lady was very polite. Room was spacious but tired. I’d ordered an upgraded room and Kingsize bed. Unfortunately it was Two singles pushed together. Bathroom was tired and paint peeling from window frames. Went down for breakfast and usual spread of English breakfast and a few muffins. Opted for the Full English as don’t often have one. It lacked in taste and left it. Checked out and left. Won’t be back.

Staff were great- can't fault them. We were in the "Garden Rooms" which, after coming from the grand front were, a bit of a shock and looked quite run down from the outside. The corridors in that building were stiflingly hot and ho estly thw room was worse. There is no aircon and because thw windows areful open (safety feauture I imagine), thw tiny fan you get genuinely didn't do much. The room could have bee cleaner, but sheets were clean and so was the bathroom, so all good. Breakfast was abundant with lots of seating and excellent muffins. The coffee is actually really good too. Pool was more for relaxing than getting any sort of workout in (kidney shaped around thw jacuzzil, but it was lovely. Overall, we enjoyed our time except for the heat in the room.

I can only speak about the Garden Rooms where i was staying, other room options maybe better: The room was very dark, needed more lighting. Also, staying in November, the single glazed windows meant that it was cold during my stay. No temperature controls in room. You could also hear guests next door going to the toilet, speaking on their phones & watching their TVs. Dinner wasn't very nice yet quite expensive for what was served. I travel a lot for business and stay in a lot of different hotels, and have to be honest - i've never yearned for a Premier Inn room and meal quite as much as I did during this stay. Their pool and meeting room facilities looked very nice, but i didnt use them on this occasion. Signage was also a little confusing and they could do with some more to help direct to reception & restaurant - the garden room block is quite a distance from reception, so easy to get lost or confused, even with the map that was issued to me at reception. Stopped in room 3 - Garden room. Constant dripping / tapping noise all night / so very little sleep (may have been heating system) the garden room block resembles a prison block, dark / small rooms, tiny bathroom (can’t open door and have bath down at same time) and not value for money (over £125 for a twin std.) - not even a bottle of water in the room unless you upgrade -which is an extra £30 plus! - supposedly 4 star! Room was clean but doors in need of repair (bathroom latch hanging off) Evening meal ok. Breakfast very good. Didn’t use pool as looked like kids swimming lessons were taking place - not solely for hotel guess. Grounds of hotel very nice. Carpark very full - the place is full of people attending seminars. Can’t recommend due to annoying tapping / dripping sound all night - and lack of sleep, and also expensive based on the amenities / room… maybe the main block is better??

Bathroom in our room was very small like a little cupboard. No hot water in sink. Hot water eventually in the shower but difficult to regulate temperature when we got the hot. Very Poor Experience. Given a twin room rather than double I had booked. Just told nothing they could do. Waited 20 mins for phone to be answered for room service, then gave up and went to reception who just said she was busy and on her own. Asked for manager to contact and told she was the manager and nothing she could do. When to sleep early as tired and woken by loud knocks from room service with food for wrong room. When I complained next morning and asked soft someone to email/phone me to discuss, I am still waiting 5 days later. Also see they just cut and paste standard response on Trip advisor. THEY SIMPLY DONT CARE.

Having stayed at Milton Hill House several times before, I was quite disappointed this visit. Firstly upon stood at the reception to check in the staff continued with their noisy conversation for a while. I was made to wait a few minutes to be checked in!! Then after a long journey, I arrived at my room to freshen up, to find the shower only dribbled. Very poor start indeed. After a lengthy trek bad to reception I was offered a different room. Thankfully it was a nice quiet room where the shower worked with running water, which was worth the aggro of moving everything to another room. I used the leisure facilities to find the pool/ hot tub was dirty, changing rooms very small, and the gym was rather basic. The whole facilty is in need of TLC as paint was peeling off window frames, weeds were growing everywhere, carpets were discoloured, and everywhere looked pretty tired. Saying that i do like the location, the history of the house, and the delightful Izzy on reception went out of her way to ensure my stay was as enjoyable as possible.

The hotel was busy when we arrived and there was only 1 member of staff who was clearly struggling although putting on a cheerful face. We were told the restaurant was fully booked till 8pm but we were not worried, there was a room service menu in the room, telephone did not work so walked to reception to be told no room service today! The bathroom had not been cleaned thoroughly so much so that you could see an imprint on the windowsill where someone had sat on it before getting dressed! The hotel is conveniently located close to the A34, has lovely grounds and good facilities, and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. The hotel consists of a number of wings so finding your way around can be a challenge, but it had all the facilities I needed and it was quiet so I could get a good night's sleep.

A pleasant compact room that was nicely decorated. Lovely desk / dressing table. Tea / coffee with biscuits provided which is always nice. Lovely lighting. Bathroom compact but shower nice and good products provided. Couldn’t find second towel set but was in the wardrobe when I had a good look. Got hot in the room at night so opened a window. Very good location that was 12 mins from Redbridge P & R for Oxford. Nice it had a pool even if we didn’t get time to use it. Used the bar for a drink late evening. Breakfast was varied and delicious and lots of choice. Coffee out of a machine which is never my favourite but Americano was nice. Steered clear of cappuccinos as never nice from machines.

Nice hotel but the leisure area needs some attention, very dated and jacuzzi wouldn’t work properly. Plenty of choice for breakfast and a good evening menu. Unfortunately the staff did more talking than clearing the tables in the evening. Breakfast was very good but staff shortages meant there were only 2 people serving and clearing. One of the two coffee machines were out of order so again a lot of waiting around.

Very expensive for what was no better than a premier inn. No aircon, so rooms have fans. Fan fuse exploded so had to move room, these things happen. Breakfast - terrible. Had to sit outside in the rain due to the room for breakfast not being big enough. Food was barely cooked and had to wait around for many items. There was a wedding at the time, so I understand being busy, but if you have a wedding party, prepare for it better.

Beautiful hotel within easy reach of Oxford. We received a friendly welcome. A huge family room with excellent facilities. The breakfast choices were varied and buffet style, so as much as you can eat! The pool looked lovely although we didn't have time to use it. We would love to come again

Great location, it’s a fantastic building, it clearly needs some TLC!! I did stay in a block of rooms that looked like a jail, but the room was of a good standard. Breakfast really wasn’t pleasant, also understaffed, dirty plates everywhere and food was a great standard. I would stay there again, however hope you guys can make some improvements over the coming years

Lovely venue, main house is lovely. Room clean, comfortable and cools. Evening meal very poor. Waited for over an hour between ordering and being served. This was my second visit and although very tired i knew service was good and hoped food would be better than last trip. Unfortunately my rooms wifi was nearly non existent which was a real issue when trying to work. My main problem was the food, the evening meal was disgusting (i had the same as last visit to compare) with fish rubbery and chips overcooked. Even when mentioning this i received a blank look and still a quite expensive bill ! I will be staying elsewhere on next visit

I have discovered after the stay that I have been charged for another guest dinner. Never in my life anything like that happen to me. Also I have left by accident my property in the room, staff confirm that it was found, but days later when I came to collect it it was missing ! Seriously what is going on? Would not recommend this hotel based on experience after the stay. Too much issues still not resolved and no communication from the hotel
