Lovely food, comfy beds, good access and parking, spacious bungalow. Pillows were a bit too high for me, 1 pillow was too low, 2 pillows too high. My own fault as I usually take my own. Lovely setting and views

The hotel is in attractive grounds and the bar food and breakfast were both excellent. Friendly staff. About 20 minutes walk into Pontefract. Plenty of buses too. We stayed on a Friday night and there was a wedding and a dinner dance at the hotel. Our bedroom was directly above the room used for the dinner dance. This made it a bit noisy, which could be a problem for some guests or if they had a noisier entertainer.

This hotel is really geared up for events. There were two large events on both days and another scheduled for the day we left. This meant you had to access the dining room by going around the outside in the cold (and possibly rain). The rooms were OK but again were really only an adjunct to attending an event being functional but plain. Our room suffered from noise as they were moving furniture after one event to be ready for the next until 1.15 am and started again at 5.45am. No choice at breakfast - full english or... full english. No good if you're veggie. In all nice staff but not a weekend away venue.

The room we booked was a standard room, it was incredibly small for the price we paid. There was barely enough room to pass each other around the bed. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The drinks at the bar are very expensive.

Excellent value for money - as good as I have found anywhere - , charming and very helpful staff, easy to find, with good parking and beautiful grounds. Dinner was good, with generous portions.

The hotel on first glance is quite grand from the outside. Even inside is nice. The room was clean but the bathroom was quite tired. Build up of mildew at the bottom corners, the shower dial was broken only allowing for scalding hot or freezing cold, cracked tiles, and a sink that would take a long time to drain. The drinks were a little over priced and the bar staff kept giving the wrong drink. Cost me £38 for 5 beers and a whiskey. Breakfast was made to order with available toast, cereal, and drinks to help yourself to.

Arrived at lunchtime and stayed for evening function and overnight. Stayed in one of the bungalows. For 85 pound it was excellent value with breakfast included. Ample parking. Recommended

Really enjoyed our stay at kings croft hotel, the staff were lovely and really helpful. Only downfalls i would have to say would be: - The rooms need to be more clear or more signposting etc would be better as we were tucked away around the side and it was easily missed where the door was to the room. - some lamps or smaller light's in the room would have been good as there was only the main light which i could not keep on as it was over the bed. When my child was sleeping it was really bright so either had to sit in darkness or wait for her to wake up before i could turn the light on. - The carpet in the room needed a really good hoover, dont know if this was because the carpet was black but showed loads of bits all over it and dust around the blinds. Other than these, the rooms were lovely and the facilities were brilliant and handy!

This hotel looks beautiful from the outside and in lovely grounds, but the room we had (12) was very tired and needing a complete refurb. The ensuite was very poor…not even a soup dish in the shower to put your shampoo and very slippy base unless you used the shower mat. Room was very warm and sash window would not stay open unless fully to the top. The staff were all very pleasant and the food in the restaurant was fine. This hotel could be truly amazing with some investment.

Described as small double but expected a little bigger. Outside door to room sticks so doesn't shut leaving this annex open to anyone. Bathroom looks good but shower did not drain and took 30mins after shower to do so. Basin tap would not turn off. No shelf or storage in bathroom. Window has internal blind only leaving the light from the one outside the annex flooding into room. On plus side breakfast is good. Mentioned everything to receptionist on checkout stating couldn't sleep due to light and running tap to be asked is that everything? I was going to book into the national chain up the road but chose an independent. Next time I will choose the Purple Chain!

Place is lovey, staff polite, food excellent and well worth it. Room considering bridal suit not good. Wont let me unload photos so bathroom light ½ full of dead flies, 1 towel had brown stains on (took to reception and i will leave it there) shower glass big gap so bathroom ended up like a wet room.

I have stayed here before with no issues, however have usually been in one of the annex rooms. This time I was in the main building, in a room just off the landing at the top of the stairs leading from the bar - this was the problem! Check-in was fine, and the room was ok (once I had killed the various insects that must have been let in when the room was aired). But the noise from the bar travels - on this occasion there were a number of rowdy guests that stayed up drinking until after midnight and though it would be a good idea to shout at the top of their voice! Spoke to reception, who assured me that the guests would be spoken to but nothing happened so it was gone 1am before I managed to get any sleep. I do appreciate that it's difficult to control drunken guests, but why not shut the bar or refuse to serve if they get too rowdy rather than expect the rest of the guests to put up with it!

This is a lovely hotel, great staff, amazing grounds. Breakfast was good. But I could only give it a good because of the noise. It is an excellent wedding venue. But our room was very close to the room and we could hear every word from the DJ right up to midnight. There is no reception at night and so some doors are alarmed. We were woken by alarms at 4:00am. Door slamming and corridor conversations are not softened in anyway. I'd give it a go during the week, but not on a party night.

When booking on line just over night stay , ROOM 9. Has no window. Terrible nights sleep. Plus the man on reception when booking in at 5.30. Was VERY UN HELPFUL, . My husband and I have osteoarthritis in the knees. I said we couldn’t do the stairs because of this. The man said he couldn’t do anything for us. We have stayed there 3 times and always have a chalet ground floor, Your man whom needs re training even though been with you for 14 years. I would not give him a reception job ever. Another basic point eating in the restaurant, requested again Worcestershire sauce for steak dinner 3 rd time no sorry we don’t use that. The young ladies said they never heard off it. Pls train waitress I had to get all this off my chest as it was manifesting too long. We stay at the Kings Croft for when we travel up from Suffolk to visit family. We booked a main hotel executive room as it looked to have some space and character. On arrival it was suggested we transfer to a bungalow as there was a tribute band playing that night and our room would be noisy. Same price so seemed fair enough. The alternative room was OK but the only ventilation was a velux roof light if the French doors were closed. Not being 15 feet tall we asked for it to be opened, or the required pole to be provided. This didn’t happen. We ate at the restaurant and the food was good and great value with very good serving staff. Returning to the room however, it was stuffy and the party goers booked in to a neighbouring room were noisy until 2am with security lights ablaze. Given it is clearly a location that has wedding options, tribute band nights and other similar events, if a good nights sleep is your objective then find another location. Eat there by all means!

Booked 2 standard rooms but were given basic small rooms. Reception said that Hotels.com doesn't make it clear what rooms were booked and couldnt move us into requested rooms. One of our rooms had no windows just a skylite above bed with no blind so full daylight at 6am!!

Due to failures from the booking in staff to pass on that there was a wedding reception happening on the day of my booking and not moving me to a room away from the main hotel i had the worst nights sleep ever. People banging around corridors and rooms till 1am in the morning, loud music blaring through main hotel no sound proofing at all. With what little sleep i was able to achieve i missed breakfast as i slept through. Room was of decent size bathroom for an executive room was tiny 1 person in at a time. Awful view of back of hotel. All in all waste of money won't stay there again in a hurry, wouldnt recommend at all. Was told on the sunday someone would look in to my booking as to why i wasn't offered an external room and 2 days later I'm still waiting.

Disappointed in this visit. Room was smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in. (Travel frequently, at least every second month have to stay in hotels across country) shower was hot but shower rose cracked so hard to wash hair. Food onsite pleasant but expensive. Altercation on checkout with receptionist insisting that we had not paid for dinner and very embarrassing . Took a long time for her to verify my payment on their system- completely unnecessary - made us late for timeline of our journey( travelled for this purpose) - I had explained that we were in a hurry. No apology for their error.

Attended a wake at Kingscroft yesterday, also a few of us booked rooms and stayed over. The staff were brilliant from start to finish , food was lovely and fresh and kept being replenished. The rooms were lovely and big and an amazing fresh cooked full English breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend .

I've stayed here twice now and both times have had excellent rooms, service and food. The staff are always friendly, courteous and helpful too. The views from the hotel gardens and bar areas are also excellent. Highly recommended!

I really appreciated that the staff realised I had a mobility issue and immediately offered me a ground floor room with the added bonus of a private outdoor area. It was very quiet and I felt very safe there as a solo female traveller. The only issue I came across was the water didn’t drain too well in the bathroom sink, but it wasn’t enough of a problem to affect my stay. Overall a lovely stay considering I was there for a funeral and I hope to return in the future for leisure and explore the area further.

The hotel was fabulous and very reasonably priced. All the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Easy 15min walk into the town centre. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

It was a beautiful property, but the breakfast let it down, as the young lad serving the breakfasts kept moaning about the hotel running out of food, and how unprofessional it was of them, which personally I found quiet disrespectful of him. Although the hotel did run out of bacon and other items of cooked breakfast, and I had to keep asking for things like orange juice milk for the coffee, bread for toast etc, the hotel did have a wedding on the night before but the staff who is responsible for ordering the food should of done their sums better, the hotel and grounds stunning, the lovely reception lady couldn’t of been more helpful but as for the breakfast what my Daughter and I got was lovely but definitely go down for it early.

The room and bathroom was large and spacious. The pub was nice and cozy and the dinner menu was good. Breakfast is a little basic with a very simple buffet. Hot breakfasts are a choice of a version of Full English or a sandwich. It was not clear how flexible the breakfast menu is. A menu on each table would be far handier.

Stayed for one night to break a long journey. Was pleasant enough, the only suggestion however would be to have a breakfast menu as what was said by member of staff is only ingredients for a full English. Wasn’t made away of any alternatives to ingredients to a full English (poached eggs, pancakes, etc) so assumed not available When asking for scrambled egg on toast we got the scrambled egg but was advised to make our own toast which felt a touch odd

This was our third stay at The Kings Croft and everything was great. The staff were friendly and approachable. We had the breakfast and dined in one evening. The food and menu options were lovely and met expectations. Another great stay.
