We had a superior room but it was just ordinary. Our room was across the street from the hotel. It was a busy street to cross then through a parking area. I was told that there was parking available but it was first come first serve. There were actually less than 10 spaces so we had to pay £8 to park at the local council site which was a 5 minute walk. Not great with bags as when we arrived the parking area also had work vans and was over parked.

Generally very good for everything, just room for improvement in a couple of areas; No elevator and lots of stairs to drag your suitcase up and down. Bathroom really small, shower in bath tub and very cramped using the toilet.

Great as a base for exploring Bakewell, excellent breakfast and relaxing areas for the evening before dinner. Rooms clean and tidy and tasteful decor. Car park very small. We used bridge street and charged £18 for two night stay, you can come and go as you want. Overall a nice break.

Excellent, welcoming and knowledgeable service by all staff across the hotel. Comfortable room. Car parking spaces at a premium so get there early. Situated on a busy roundabout in the centre so daytime was noisy but it was quiet at night and you were on the spot for all Bakewell has to offer. Meal in the restaurant was fantastic and the main hotel decor was lovely with lots of places to sit. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful hotel which retains its charm whilst having modern conveniences. Food was excellent as indeed was the service. Bar, coffee shop and plenty of lounge areas to relax in. Located in the heart of Bakewell and all the area has to offer.

We stayed for 2 nights at The Rutland Arms. Overall a great hotel. Parking at the hotel is very limited so you need to arrive at just the right time to get in their car park (between 11am-12pm). Otherwise you need to park in public car park nearby, which are plentiful and only charge £1 for overnight parking. The food & service were brilliant. Decor in main areas was really eye catching. Our room was on top floor (no lift in building) and unfortunately overlooking the main roundabout so we had lots of noise all day/night as heavy vehicles go through Bakewell all hours. Our room was nicely decorated but a bit tired in places. The TV control would not turn off the TV and I personally found the bed uncomfortable so I did not get a good night's sleep with the noise and the bed. My husband did, however, find the bed ok so I guess I just prefer a softer bed. The location is great for restaurants and visiting Bakewell and Chatsworth and the Dark Peaks.

Absolutely lovely hotel, quirky with interesting decor. Very clean and comfortable room. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was delicious. Would stay again and really enjoyed our stay in the very pretty town of Bakewell.

Room was very clean and lovely touch to leave lights and radio on for our arrival. Great choice on dinner menu and breakfast. Would definitely recommend. Fabulous staff who were super friendly and nice and engaged guests with a smile!

Evening meal in restaurant was lovely- ambience good and outstanding customer service. Wouldn’t fault the evening staff in bar or restaurant though they must have had staffing issues, because both bar and bar tables were covered in dirty glasses, making it an uncomfortable place to relax (thankfully, the restaurant couldn’t have be better. Breakfast service was, by contrast, really poor. We’d been told 8.15 to 8.45 were busiest times because breakfast was freshly cooked, so we opted for 9am. When we arrived, we were handed menus and provided with drinks, then ignored for 20 minutes. The buffet was decimated (hardly anything left apart from toast and a couple of yogurts). When cooked breakfast orders were finally taken (without explanation or apology for delay), food arrived in good time and was enjoyable. Buffet table was then replenished with fruit and cereal - which was a bit annoying. Room was very nice, but coffee cups hadn’t been cleaned properly.

I stayed with my friend in room 107 as a treat for our 60th birthday. We started off at Chatsworth House and then came to Bakewell for the night . We had a fabulous stay from the minute we walked through the door. There is a roaring open fire in the entrance area surrounded by beautiful sofas and chairs . The whole place feels like a warm hug it’s styled to make you feel completely at home. It has a cafe style eatery at the front of the hotel and its lighting is so inviting. The welcome at reception was warm and friendly. The room was very nice and warm and had the lamps and radio on upon our arrival. The bathroom and its arrays of products was vey lovely. Its selection of tea pig teas was most welcome and enjoyable. There was water provided and also to bars of chocolate. A decent hair dryer in the room was appreciated. Although the hotel is on a roundabout in the small town it’s extremely quiet. The food we order off the menu in the evening was very good and the service matched this . The breakfast was a fantastic offer and there was everything you would have wanted the full cooked Breakfast was excellent. The whole hotel is beautiful in a very unfussy easy on the eye way. It feels like you’re in somebody’s lovely home. we ended up staying in the hotel once we’ve checked out as there was a lovely offer on the menu for lunch. We sat in front of the fire and then enjoyed the rest of our day before driving home. In addition to the hotel, there is a car park across the road.

A mixed stay. Hotel is very impressive, but we were rather underwhelmed with the room. The shower curtain was very smelly (mould smell) and was making the room smell, so I needed to request for it to be changed. The bathroom is tidy, but with VERY limited hanging space for clothes/towels. Also - no toilet roll holder. (Clearly minor details, but it makes a difference). There is far too much 'tat' in the room, which is a nice touch, but just takes up valuable space. No tv remote, either. This was resolved with a quick call, but something I would not expect to need to do. Good breakfast though and friendly staff,

Very nice hotel but we’re put in the annexe which is across a busy road not great when it had been snowing and freezing cold heating on very low so room was cold. Room not serviced due to short of staff but not informed so when I returned to my room after being out all day a bag left outside the room with water and toilet roll but no clean towels had to cross back to the main hotel to ask for towels no one at the desk again when someone did arrive told them I had no towels no apology went upstairs to store cupboard and gave me four towels which I had to carry out into the street cross the road back to my room! Needless to say no impressed!! i understand they may have had staff shortages but they could easily have text or emailed me as they have all my details to explain which would mean no complaint!!!!

Great location and fabulous breakfast, with lots of choice. The rooms however, are very small, with a fan which didn't make the room any cooler on these hot evenings. There were never any staff on reception when we checked in and whenever I needed anything, however when you managed to find someone, they were very helpful.

Beautiful building inside and out. Room was in separate building across the road which was absolutely fine for us, but no air conditioning and it was a hot night. Water pressure in the shower was poor but that was our only issue. We loved our stay.

Lovely Hotel, in a lovely town, but we were across the road in a tiny, ground floor room with no air-con. The staff are great, the Hotel itself is lovely, breakfast is great, Bakewell is great. But the lion's share of £200 for our room was over the top

Communal areas lovely. Bedrrom far too hot. The bedding is far to thick for the time of year which meant we slept poorly & the pillows could have been more comfortable. A fan is not adequate so please get aircon. Otherwise a lovely hotel sadly let down by these major issues.

The room was quite small and over filled with furniture however had no draws for clothes. Otherwise it was very comfortable and relaxing. Staff were fantastic, friendly and really helpful, food was great too! We’ll definitely go back!!

Too hot the radiator outside our room was too hot to touch but could not be turned off,consequently even with the window open our room wasbuncomfortably hot. Not very environmentally friendly.

Haven't got a problem with the room at all. But restaurant staff and service was not at an exceptable level. At breakfast, orders were wrote down but brought out wrong. Toast was black underneath and eggs were cold! Asked for fried got poached! How hard can it be. Young unexperienced girls, no one in charge. Had a dinner for 16, messed up orders, even though we had pre ordered. Didnt know beef from lamb! Had a bottle of fizzy wine, to which she brought and left on table for us to open ourselves! No exceptable!

Lovely hotel let down by bar and restaurant staff. The female Duty Manager on the bar was rude and ignorant. (The desk team were professional and helpful). It’s a good location with decent parking but overall a little overpriced.

Evening meal in restaurant was lovely- ambience good and outstanding customer service. Wouldn’t fault the evening staff in bar or restaurant though they must have had staffing issues, because both bar and bar tables were covered in dirty glasses, making it an uncomfortable place to relax (thankfully, the restaurant couldn’t have be better. Breakfast service was, by contrast, really poor. We’d been told 8.15 to 8.45 were busiest times because breakfast was freshly cooked, so we opted for 9am. When we arrived, we were handed menus and provided with drinks, then ignored for 20 minutes. The buffet was decimated (hardly anything left apart from toast and a couple of yogurts). When cooked breakfast orders were finally taken (without explanation or apology for delay), food arrived in good time and was enjoyable. We stayed at the Rutland twice . Once in a Delux room in the main building and once in the annex . While the annex is just ok the main building is beautiful . I have no complaints on the restaurant the service or the food . My one big complaint and why I won’t stay here again . As an international traveler I had luggage . There is no porter to help with the luggage and the amount of stairs even to the “first”floor takes your breath away. I can’t imagine being in my 60s or 70s lugging my bags up those stairs . They really need to employ a full time porter . When we asked for help with bags there was no one available. This happened on both of our stays . By the time my husband reached our room with the luggage. He was worn out and unhappy . Which didn’t make for a great experience . Please employ a strong Lad to help your patrons with the luggage .

The Rutland arms is dead centre in the midfle of Bakewell, great views of the town and easy to walk from. Great for people watching as its pretty busy. The staff were approachable and efficient, especially the waiting staff. The whole experience was lovely, as was the room. Will be definitely visiting again.

Excellent hotel with friendly staff. In the heart of Bakewell so great location to explore. Set on the roundabout so outside space is limited and can be noisy when road busy, but no problem when your inside. We did have a minor issue with one meal, but this was sorted out immediately and without question which is always a sign of excellent service. Overall an excellent venue at a very reasonable price.

Great location, with most places within easy walking distance from the hotel. Wonderful river walk five minutes from the hotel, along with plenty of shop's and dining options near-by. Complimentary breakfast, with a good menu, friendly staff and comfortable accommodation.

The hotel was very good and we’d recommend it. The location was second to none, giving you the option of exploring Bakewell and the Monsal Trail but also having a convenient access to both Chatsworth, Hadden Hall

Great as a base for exploring Bakewell, excellent breakfast and relaxing areas for the evening before dinner. Rooms clean and tidy and tasteful decor. Car park very small. We used bridge street and charged £18 for two night stay, you can come and go as you want. Overall a nice break.

Overall a great stay however breakfast service could be improved. The staff were friendly and helpful however thought approach of the chef strange. Can we have an omelette - no we don’t do them. Can we just have sliced avocado rather than the mashed - no. I don’t think either of these would really have been too much trouble for a chef but clearly not interested in pleasing the customer .

Great stay, comfortable room, helpful staff, great breakfast choice with perfectly cooked soft boiled eggs. Also had dinner twice, good both times. Located conveniently in the town centre. Only negative is the limited hotel parking although we were lucky enough to get in.

Haven't got a problem with the room at all. But restaurant staff and service was not at an exceptable level. At breakfast, orders were wrote down but brought out wrong. Toast was black underneath and eggs were cold! Asked for fried got poached! How hard can it be. Young unexperienced girls, no one in charge. Had a dinner for 16, messed up orders, even though we had pre ordered. Didnt know beef from lamb! Had a bottle of fizzy wine, to which she brought and left on table for us to open ourselves! No exceptable!

It was a comfortable hotel the bedroom was very nice with lots of extras, what let it down was the food in the restaurant I had a beef dinner on Sunday but was not impressed the beef was so tough it was inedible I mentioned it to the waitress and all she said was sorry . We weren’t impressed with the breakfast both mornings were not very well organised they brought the porridge and the cooked breakfast out at the same time which was not practical , my husband ordered a breakfast sausage muffin which was thrown together and the sausages were so hard he couldn’t eat them. There was six of us all family members we weee all disappointed with the food

Hotel is right in the middle of Bakewell, so very convenient for the town and local pubs/restaurants. Rooms were well decorated and very clean. Staff were very good - friendly, helpful and polite. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant, which was lovely and cosy, with a reasonable choice on the menu - I have to say that everything we had was excellent - good portion sizes and cooked to perfection! All in all, we had a great stay and would not hesitate to recommend to others considering where to stay in Bakewell.

The price wasn’t cheap and I appreciate that this is an expensive area but space around the bed was cosy. The room was not in the main building but in a courtyard over the road. This was fine- parking was included which was a bonus. No aircon and one tiny fan- the shower room was very hot. Shower ok- not great and the WiFi kept logging out.
