Great location and lovely rooms. The bed was super comfy and we had a great sleep. Though hotel was very busy it was also very quiet. The hotel is also very pet welcoming. Only food available in the evening was in the bar and to be honest the menu is not appropriate for a large hotel with only 4 starters ( of which one was unavailable) and six main courses - 4 of which came with boiled rice. This really needs improvement. The waitress ( there was only one) was lovely, very busy but also very courteous , attentive and friendly. Breakfast was continental but lots to chose from and good, fresh produce. Would absolutely stay again but unless menu changes would eat in nearby Helensburgh.

A disappointing visit. We’ve beeen 4 times in the past couple of years including our wedding but the place is deteriorating. There is no cooked breakfasts anymore although that is not explained on the website. Carpets shabby. Obviously under new management but as all old staff have gone. Bath was rusty where the enamel had come off. Room not made up by 1830 as there was only 1 staff to do the whole hotel. Bathside panel was rotting away. Shower was hopeless as it would not stay up. We will not be going back

Good overall hotel but breakfast was a big disappointment (no hot food and basic products and fruits). The surrounding is also a little bit old. Food served at diner is basic. Maybe more a 3 stars hotel maximum

A bad experience. The toilet didn't flush properly. There was a false fire alarm at 7.45 in the morning. The room was not cleaned during our second day at the hotel. We ordered dinner, waited for over an hour and were told it could be another half an hour. We cancelled our order and went somewhere else. Very poor service. The worst hotel I've stayed in. Breakfast had very little choice and customers were continually having to ask for items to be replenished.

The hotel overall is very ‘tired’, with the exterior, in particular, in poor repair. With the assistance of a very helpful receptionist we changed rooms as the window in our first room had failed seals and so the sea view was non-existent due to condensation. The second room had two windows, one of which also had condensation (and so no view). At check in we were also informed that they had problems with the kitchen, so the restaurant was not available. While the bedding was clean, the mattress was very hard and the pillows were very thin and lumpy. Overall, we were disappointed with our stay - and would not have chosen the hotel if the Hotels.com reviews had at least indicated some of these issues.
