It’s a lovely hotel - all the rooms are large and didn’t feel at all crowded, even in the bar which was quite busy in the evenings. Bedroom was very large and comfortable, with a nice en-suite shower room. A very good breakfast was provided with lots of choice. My only negative is that it is pretty expensive - although we stayed as a ‘treat’ at the end of a touring holiday in the Highlands and it was very nice! 😃

It was a great place to stay weather you play golf or not. Good food and the bed was to die for. Super bar and fire place in the bar. Only tough part is carrying the bags up the stairs.

Excellent stay, only one night but well worth it, staff were fantastic and so hard working the boys in the restaurant/bar never stopped and still kept up with requests from the reception desk. Room view was great across the firth and the sunrise was a particular bonus treat. The quality of the food was excellent including a wonderful Sunday roast and continued to a delicious breakfast, the kitchen staff should be proud of the dishes they have served.

I stayed at the Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch with my dog. The golf course and surrounding area are absolutely stunning — clearly a lot of care goes into keeping them in top condition. The hotel itself has charm and a lovely old-world feel, but unfortunately the guest experience didn’t match the setting. Service in the restaurant was underwhelming, and the room wasn’t as clean as it should have been, with a stained carpet. It almost felt like they look after the course better than the guests. With such an incredible location, a little more focus on service and housekeeping would make all the difference.

We cannot say enough about the staff at the Royal Golf Hotel. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. You can walk to town and all of the sites of Dornoch in minutes. The beautiful beach is a short walk away as well. And golf, it’s right out the front door. We would highly recommend

Food was delicious, a bit pricey but everywhere is pricey nowadays. Bed very comfortable. Just small things like sofa could have been vacuumed and areas in room that are touched a lot could have been cleaned, but the room was clean overall.

In walking distance to the beach (where you can swim if you’re brave or own a wetsuit!) and the town where there are many options to eat if you decide not to always dine at the hotel. We had a smart, modern room overlooking the golf course and sea. It had a large, comfortable bed and monsoon shower.

The room picture Expedia shows in the reservation and in this review is complete misrepresentation of the room we were provided; significantly smaller, appearance of furnishings dated, cramped sitting area and no bay window. I don’t know if the hotel is responsible or Expedia for this picture being used, but it is a bait and switch. They can easily show pictures of a variety of room choices/accomodations.

Staff extremely friendly. Dinner really good with the most incredible view. Easy to walk to Dornoch which is a lovely Town and well worth a look. Sadly only here for one night as there are beautiful walks which I would have liked to explore
