Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa

We stayed with our dog - very late arrival and paid for late check out. It was nicer than we expected and the staff and services were all great. Very comfy bed. We had lunch the next day and the food (Chicken Caesar Salad especially!) was all lovely and the staff exceptional. Nice gardens. Loads of parking. I’d been worried it wasn’t going to be as nice as the photos since their own website doesn’t work on Apple products, it seemed strange! We were let down a little by the failure of the electric charger. We’d not been certain we’d get to charge there but when we found it available on arrival we were so pleased. We wasted 30min trying to get it working but finally gave up. The staff weren’t particularly interested, stating ‘it isn’t theirs’ but since they allow “EV Project” to be on their site I think they should take some responsibility or at least log/report issues. (Currently trying to get my ‘mandatory £30 deposit from that company.) So I’d recommend others not waste time trying to charge and do that elsewhere. (Billy Jeans if you’re heading into North Wales is a good option).

We loved the Palm Court and our Superior room. The pool and changing rooms need updating and making more space to put more loungers as there is nowhere to go after you have used the pool and sauna. The jacuzzi is too small for the size of the hotel and its clientele.

Beautiful and clean hotel that smelt amazing all the way through it! Staff was attentive and professional, spa was nice enough, bit small in my personal opinion and noisy up until late afternoon, too many people using it for the facilities provided and only 5 loungers to lie down on, evrryone was looking for loungers to sit down on and place their belongings on it, they had a dew hooks but not many. Jacuzzi was lovely as was the swimming pool (good size), sauna and sream room was amazing, the lesure facilities were a bit confusing as there was a sign to the spa but no sign to the swimming pool, it wasn't clear. I had requsted a room with a nice view for celebration night away for my partners birthday and they kindly were able to grant this, lovely view of the garden and water fountain and they left a happy birthday card and chocolates for my partner, lovely, special gesture. Room was lovely comfortable, with a tv, hair drier, kettle and complementry tea/ coffee/water etc, shower was sooo nice! Would of been nice to have a mini fridge to store a few of our cold drinks we brought though. Over all, had a lovely relaxing stay and even though there was a wedding on couldn't hear any noise going on! We would recommend this hotel if you are after a relaxing, special stay away or wanting to use the lesure facilities even tho it was a little small then what we have experianced in the past we would still stay here again despite the 7.5% tip added to oir meal automatically that we

My partner and I stayed in the hotel for one night on Easter Sunday with dinner, bed and breakfast. The room was only the standard category, but was very spacious and had excellent amenities. The rainforest shower was particularly good. One thing I would say is the walls are quite thin so you can hear noises in adjoining rooms. The restaurant was very nice and on a Sunday evening they offer a carvery, with very few alternatives (on fish dish; two vegetarian) I really enjoyed the recovery, however, my partner would’ve liked to have had something from the normal menu. Breakfast was also excellent, although I do find it a bit of a liberty when a four star hotel, which is already charging premium prices, charges extra for non-buffet dishes (such as eggs Benedict) The pool and sauna area was excellent and I also used the gym which was very good. We particularly liked the outside garden area where you could sit after using the facilities, this is really nice when the sun is out. All in all, it was lovely and we will definitely stay at the hotel again when we are in the area.

Great location, 10 mins from Chester. The spa was not overcrowded and the Japanese themed garden was very peaceful. Very clean and comfortable room. We didn’t use the restaurant but the bar staff were very polite and friendly. All in all, very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Would highly recommend.

We had breakfast in the exotic Palm Court Brasserie. Delicious & excellent service. There are specific times for children's swims in the pool, so check these on the website. We went for a swim after breakfast which was a great way to round off our stay ... only wish we were there longer ! Highly recommended !

Great hotel 10 min from Chester centre friendly staff, good spa nice pool and sauna had dinner and breakfast both really good. Family room ideal only gripe would be the check in was spot on 3 o’clock had to wait a bit, did not put us off 2 adults 2 grandchildren would recommend

Don’t stay here at a weekend as very noisy wedding venue Why they put us a mum and 10 year old in a room Above the wedding reception was beyond me! Weren’t that many rooms directly above function area and am sure plenty of guests at wedding were staying over! Only one EV charger that one resident decided to use for about 24 hours and hotel did nothing to ask him to move! Bit tired and not what expected so won’t return!

I didn’t get the offer of an upgraded room as a gold member.when I asked they said a charge of £20 would be applied which I refused to pay. How ever on getting into my room I realised that the bed sheet/duvet cover had not been changed from the last occupant. I when back to the reception and complained. At this point they gave me an upgraded room

The staff are all really good, especially in the restaurant. The hotel is well kept, the food is of high quality, and having eaten in both the attached pub, and Palm Court, I can recommend both. The room was compact but fine for comfort. A couple of the lights didn’t work and it was a bit dusty in places. The main problem was the constant banging doors. And even worse, my room was the closest to the entrance for the Spa, and the cleaner appears to start before 6am, opening the storage/cleaners cupboard opposite the room, dragging her cleaning cart and vacuum across the floor. Not her fault, she has a job to do. But the hotel should both consider doing something about the noise of the doors, and the location of the cleaning equipment. I was there for three nights, and it ruined all of them.

The receptionist that checked me in was so lovely! She had only just started working on the reception after leaving air-hostessing and we got to talking because i’m a hotel receptionist too and she really is made for reception! The restaurants were lovely and the spa too! our treatments were amazing and the therapists really listened to our requests on pressure / firmness and what areas we wanted to be focused on more. Overall a really lovely stay, and would love to come back <3

Lovely stay but carpet was wet in our room and hairs which don’t belong to us.

Great hotel with good facilities. Large clean rooms. Choice of restaurants but book in advance as it gets very busy. Large car park. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of breakfast options.

A really excellent hotel experience. Bar and restaurant really top quality. Rooms modern and spotlessly clean. Dinner at Palm Court restaurant excellent value for money and top quality. Breakfast was a bit basic .

Lovely hotel, reception staff were very welcoming and explained everything clearly. Decor of reception was gorgeous. Our room was on the ground floor. Classic room which was a comfortable size. Bathroom clean & well appointed with a great shower over the bath, having the controls away from the tap/shower end is very helpful. Lovely decor in the room although the small bed lights got in the way of the pillows. Hospitality tray well stocked but no fridge. I had a massage in the spa which was amazing, Megan was great. We enjoyed the pool area and the spa gardens. We had dinner in both restaurants. The Palm restaurant served a carvery on Sunday which was delicious although the service could have been better, we were left for long periods. The second night we dined in The Nelson, service was good and food was lovely. We had breakfast both days in house which was good with plenty of choice. This was a lovely stay, the hotel is in a beautiful setting which we enjoyed as the weather had been good.

Small noisy room, you could hear all conversations of neighbouring rooms through the vents and from the hallway. Checkout time is 11am, £20 to extend to 12pm.

Hotel is beautiful and the superior room was stunning, the decor, the bathroom is luxurious and the hotel made us a little Congratulations chocolate platter and card for our recent wedding which was a lovely touch. There was only one problem which was the heated towel rail in bathroom was so hot I burnt my arm, I did inform reception as needs to be attended. The spa is so lovely too, I had an Indian head massage which was very relaxing. All staff were lovely although I would say I would choose the Palm restaurant next time as Nelson’s was not as friendly and waited long time for food. Breakfast in the Palm was lovely.

Overall stay was good. Hotel was full, but didn't feel too crowded. Dinner was excellent in Palm Court. Room was hot and stuffy, and air con didn't seem to work (it is February). Prosecco in room was pre-ordered but wasn't delivered. We decided we didn't need it - it was take off our bill. Pool was ok (strange steps especially in shallow end - watch your toes!) - no spinner for wet costumes. Room decor was ok, and bed was comfortable enough. Quite noisy but to be expected with a wedding on. Main issue is no WiFI in rooms (only in main areas of hotel). Given there is no mobile signal (its in a remote village) this isn't very good - I would expect a good signal across the hotel.

Everything was good, except I couldn’t open a window, and it was overlooking the restaurant, which is fully enclosed, just felt claustrophobic

First night I couldn’t sleep due to all the air conditioning units outside the room , and sounds like an aircraft taking off, stayed 3 nights with work, asked to move every night but told no rooms available, but you could book one on hotels.com , lies to me Will never stop again, don’t get room 70. Also my colleagues had rooms with window straight into restaurant, very weird hotel, more like a premier inn

Great hotel, great location. Breakfast was brilliant. Pool and spa facilities were great and staff were very attentive. Rooms were not clean enough, could do with a good dusting. The mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable, we could feel the springs. Linen was of poor quality and sheets did not fit the bed so constantly coming off.

Beautiful hotel and room .SPA and felicities amazing.Only one minus we can’t open the window because it was looking for restaurant/people.You can’t even opened the curtain because people have a table opposite our window.

Room very disappointing. Room 3 no window, overlooked the palm court restaurant so as the glass door was looking over restaurant had to leave curtains shut whole stay. Not pleasant sat watching people eat. Had the music from restaurant lplayong until 10.30pm, could here this in room . Very disappointed. No wifi in room would not connect and no phone signal. Poor stay.

(No other guests). Standing, there, knowing I am there, not acknowledging or asking if I need any assistance. Not a good look. Otherwise one other issue. Couldn’t get booked into the gastro pub, as it was somehow full, even though maybe at most visibly 40% occupied. I guess not enough staff to provide quality service. However I was able to get into the a la carte restaurant and it was fantastic. Well done. The room was a real highlight, wonderfully spacious, clean and with character. Funny thing though was the faucet for the sink, which was so low, I couldn’t get water in the room supplied kettle. Would stay again, just please, first impressions count; make an effort there. Thx

Hotel is really nice, restaurant was nice. But barely slept It felt like we were sleeping above a night club. I was hoping it would stop but it was still going near midnight Was a bad night sleep

Fantastic spa break, hotel was spotlessly clean. Sophie and Ella in the restaurant were attentive and went out their way to make our evening memorable. Could not fault our stay, will definately be back !

We stayed here for 2 nights last year and it was fab, so fab in fact that we decided to come again this year! Sadly this time it didn’t impress. Check in was frustrating, we’d been emailed by the hotel to ask what time we expected to arrive, and we said 2pm, so only an hour earlier than standard check in, but when we arrived we were greeted by a young receptionist that went off to check on our room only to be told to come back at 3….apparently according to housekeeping they started half an hour late as so many people were checking out later than they should. That said our room was nearly last to be cleaned so why ask the question about early check in if there was no priority in cleaning rooms? Secondly, we were on a dinner bed and breakfast tariff, so I decided to add the extra and have sirloin steak….well I managed about a quarter of it before I gave in, no-one wants to saw through tough beef with chewy fat on it. No-one came to check if all was ok mid meal so by the time they collected our plates it was too late to do anything about it. To be fair they took it off the bill, but at £35 it should have been better, and I ended up going to bed hungry. This trip cost £340 for one night, and to be honest it just wasn’t good enough! The manager did apologise, but it doesn’t make up for a huge bill and a ruined night..

The hotel computer got hacked and sent a message through Expedia’s chat system and scammed me of £180. These things happen unfortunately, but the hotel couldn’t care less, never asked me for any details, just said contact bank. No “sorry”/“drink on the house” or anything. The room’s walls and doors where paper thin - could hear every conversation in the rooms next door, above and in the corridor, plus all the doors slamming shoot. Not a great anniversary stay. I’d mentioned to the hotel in advance it was anniversary-they said they were honoured we’d chosen to celebrate at their hotel… evidently not as there was no welcome, or even a note in our room - very poor service. Food and service in the pub was nice though.

The reception staff experience was excellent, we had upgraded room was exceptional food in the Nelson bar was very good and relaxed service good too.

Amazing stay as a family with our 3 year old Son and our dog, luxury accommodation, dining and spa whilst being family friendly, can’t recommend enough. Sophie in the restaurant is amazing, and really helped navigate my gluten free options, this hotel caters very well for Coeliac/ gluten free guests.

In my experience it's unusual to find a hotel that actually feels special to stay in. Two great restaurants, pleasant grounds, welcoming colleagues that seemed genuinely happy. What more to ask for! Slight niggle was that the plumbing was noisy at night with guests about using really frequently but aside from this minor niggle, nothing at all to moan about. Would definitely stay again, looking forward to doing so in future.

The hotel is lovely and I would recommend to others but would offer some advice before going. I booked two nights over the weekend on a DBB basis and also booked two treatments at the Kasia Spa. I opted for the executive room. The car park was jam packed on the Friday evening when we arrived- there was a wedding on at The Grosvenor suite. Cars were parked on the main road due to the lack of space. We were allocated a room on the ground floor. Now, considering this was not the most basic room at the hotel, it was not executive. Only one windo in the room which was an internal window looking directly into the Palm Court restaurant. The tesident pianist played and sang from early afternoon all the way through to 11pm. We had to turn the tv volume up! The staff are a mixed bunch- some are extremely friendly and proffesional , whilst others are either not enjoying their nob or veloeve that they are above their role. Spa receptionists were awfully aloof, although Lucy who did my massage was really lovely. There is a shortage of efficient staff at The Nelson restaurant. We ate there both evenings - on the Saturday the me us were thrown on the table and the service was painfully slow. Swimming pool needs a bit of an update.

A lovely stay at this hotel. The pool and spa were very relaxing. One small negative is that we stayed 3 nights and the tea and coffee supplies were not replenished after the first night which meant we had to approach reception who were very efficient and dealt with our request straight away. The hotel receptionists were very friendly and approachable too. The hotel foyer was beautiful and in a great location for Cheshire Oaks which was a 20 minute drive. We would definitely book the hotel again.

The hotel is conveniently located just off the main routes around Chester and perfect if you want to be outide of the centre. The hotel is clean, well maintained with plenty of parking. There are 2 restaurants to choose from and both were open on Sunday evening. I booked a twin room for myself and my teenage daughter and would offer the folliwng advice for those travelling with children. 1. The spa facilities are only open to children at restricted hours so worth phoning ahead if uour planning to use the pool. 2. I paid via expedia to upgrade the reservation to half board. However upon arrival i was informed that the I would receive a dining alllowance of only £30 for myself and that my daughters meal would have to be paid in full. The difference in cost between b&b and half board was £49 so i was left feeling somewhat angry about this. I tried to contact expedia without sucess to try and resolve. Also, the credit is against food only.

Outstanding hotel in a beautiful and quaint hamlet. The food here is excellent; the Nelson is a great pub that always has great atmosphere, warm and brilliant food. The Palm Court is also unique setting with great atmosphere. The gym has modern equipment, enough to get the job done. The rooms are always immaculate and comfy. The hallways can be a little noisy when people passing through but never stopped me having a good overall experience. Easily the best hotel and experience in the area by far.

All good except for the truly appalling internet in an area where 4G and 5G was also lacking. This meant I was unable to work in my room or anywhere else in the hotel which made an otherwise very good experience deeply frustrating

Great stay in a wonderful hotel. Very good room comfortable, clean and spacious. Very friendly staff my only moan is the quality of our evening meal, a steak which was very poor chewy, no taste and expensive!

Lovely property, dining was great, a bit disappointed at breakfast when we asked for pastries were told theyre wasnt any left, however any top rated hotel would have gone out their way to get some for our children. Would definitely stay again but would prefer would like to see a luxury service for a luxury hotel

The whole hotel was perfect, it's pictures and website do not do it justice. The decor throughout was flawless and well matched, absolutely no tired areas. The pool and spa areas were spacious and well thought out, we really loved the relaxing Japanese gardens. We are at the Palm restaurant in the evening, the wonderful food and cocktails, coupled with the pianist left us totally relaxed. Love this hotel, can't recommend it enough

The only thing that let our stay down was when we were shown to our table for dinner ,on the evening of our stay, were then forgotten about until we had to speak to a member of staff to remind them of our presence.(15 minutes later) the staff were all very apologetic and looked after us very well after for the rest of our evening.

Check in was very busy, food hit and miss, part of a wedding party the night before for food, waited over an hour for food. Ordered a Sunday lunch, turkey very dry, it was later in the day probably about 7.40pm before I was served. Breakfast was good on both occasions staff were lovely in the breakfast area. Attended a wedding on the second day of our stay which was great.
