One night stay, staff friendly and efficient booked in, in no time. Room in a quiet area of the hotel, although small perfectly adequate for my needs. Comfortable bed with plrenty of pillows. Surprised to find out the pool, jacuzzi, sauna remains open until 22:00, so had the place to myself for about an hour. Breakfast was excellent with good staff making sure all my needs were catered for. Hotel, although redecorated is showing a lot of signs that it is old and dated. There was cracked pavers at front of hotel, signs of damp in some of the communal area.

Outside of property is dated and tired. Rotten wood and cordoned off areas.Inside hall ways the same. Foyer clean , today and looks like it’s recently been updated. Swimming pool was awful - paint peeling, lots of rust, not the cleanest. Breakfast was good with lots of choice, bedrooms were clean and comfortable

The room and bathroom were clean and bed comfortable. Unfortunately the air didn't work, and we were told it was being overalled at present. The swimming pool was nice size, water temp okay and the Jacuzzi enjoyably warm. Had dinner on first night and wasn't impressed with the menu options or quality of cooking. Parking free and plenty of spaces. Reception and bar staff friendly and courteous. Overall an enjoyable 4 day stay, and ideally suited for exploring local areas.

Breakfast was okay a few things were lovely but the bacon was too tough, the eggs were only good if you got them when they were first put out if you didn’t they were like rubber! Also the scrambled eggs were very dry. The hotel staff were lovely and were on hand if you had any problems. We found the hotel needs needs a bit of TLC apart from the spa and pool, that was fab. The bar needs to have a bit more choice, no slimline tonic’s which I found very strange plus no flavoured tonic’s. Cokes should have other options not just syrup mixer on tap! On saying all this, I found out that this hotel was housing illegals up to a few weeks ago so things take time to get back to running normally again. Would come again? Yes I think we would.

When we arrived to Holiday Inn at reception the person at reception made a phone call to check if the room was clean . Rooms should all ways be ready and clean before check in time and we was nearly 2 hours over the 15.00 hrs check in time. We then decided to make use of the spar facilities . The jacuzzi was dirty and had bits of dirt at the bottom of the jacuzzi. The safety rails were rusty that went around the jacuzzi . The sauna was out of order in the men’s so I couldn’t use that . Towels from the spar reception smelt of chip fat so our experience of staying here was not good at all .

If you’re out of the central Chester city area, this is a really convenient place to stay. Just be warned, the nearby roundabout on the A55 gets clogged at rush hour in a number of directions. Just leave for work early! The establishment is pleasant, clean, and the staff will do what they can if there’s a problem. Example: on my first check in, Expedia had stopped sending bookings across. I’d only booked an hour before. I was given a bar voucher and told they’d call me as soon as the problem was solved. The on-site pool and gym is also a nice feature. So far, six weeks of two nights each week proves my usual criterion: would I stay here again. I’m just about to book my seventh week!

Clean room staff friendly, the best buffet breakfast of any hotel we have stayed in. Great for kids because gym and swimming pool. The only let down was air conditioning not working and the room was stifling, we asked for a fan there was none left, but a lady overheard us at reception and said we could have hers even brought it to the room for us, or we’d have had to have a room change, or another hotel ( we are in our 70s both with breathing problems C.O.P.D and asthma. So a good hotel let down by the air conditioning, you can’t have that in a heatwave.

Overall this hotel was ok but not not fantastic. Unfortunately our room as not clean when we arrived, and not cleaned properly throughout our 3 night stay. The floor was not hoovered at all and the bins were not fully emptied. Reception area lovely but the rest not so much!!

Did not like the broken toilet seat Did not like the broken sink plug Did not like the dirty stained cups Did not like only one tea bag for two people Did not like no tv remote Did not like the fact that after waiting untill 3pm on the second day when we had to go to reception to ask for our room to be serviced Did not like the blood stained on the bathroom floor Really did not like when we pulled the top sheet off the mattress protector we found a large blood stain and other bodily fluids stained on the mattress protector and that was where we also found the missing tv remote Did not like the fact that we slept in this bed the first night unaware

Check in was ok, the room was clean, the bed comfortable breakfast was good with nice staff. However the stay was let down by the bathroom which although clean. The shower screen on the bath didn't stay back, repeatedly coming in on you limiting the amount of room to shower in. The bath towels had marks on them that looked like they had been through several washes, Black/brown on one and yellow on the other.

Problems perhaps affected by the excellent earlier stop in Warwick/Stratford. The premises are looking very tired, the swimming pool was closed for re-furbishment, after heavy rain the ceiling of our room leaked overnight and soaked my duvet. Had to move ourselves to a new room a long way along the corridors. Our room missed cleaning on two occasions, evening meal was served in the bar area where the majority of seating was on high bar stools certainly out of reach for “senior”citizens. All the above was reported for the attention of the management who didn’t even have the courtesy to respond! On the plus side John on reception was courteous and helpful and the breakfast’s excellent

Hotel room was very quiet with black out blinds and a comfortable bed, so we had a great night's sleep. The room and bathroom was spotless. The only downside is that the corridors looked a bit scruffy, but I guess they get a lot of wear. The bedrooms, lounge and reception were great. We didn't use the pool or gym but it looked good.

The hotel needs a refurbishment tbh, it’s a bit battered and old, signs of much wear and tear, eg Doors with years of dirty hand prints. It’s in a great location and would really benefit from a modernisation. The Restaurant staff were superb, in particular was Mark (on duty 26th Sep 2025 at 1815hrs) who was also mentoring another staff member. He was quite excellent, knowledgable, efficient and not over bearing, please pass this onto him. The other staff were also fantastic, I dian girl was very pleasant and efficient..!

The air-conditioning has been switched off from what i can make on in other reviews for about 2 months now. Yet reception staff wont admit that. It was incredibly hot and the corridors were boiling, room was nothing more than a sauna. Uttered ridiculous. Staff claim its broken...if something is broken down you get people in to fix it no??? Not these kit. Cost saving at the expense of the customer. Will never stay again and warn others from doing so.

New modern hotel but terrible sound insulation we could hear clearly tv from another room. Room above our room 103 constant creaking floor boards you coujd hear every footstep taken in the room and noise from room above continued in until 2am then shortly after we could clearly hear the couple above us having a heavy sex session. Not something we wanted to hear just glad we didn’t have the children with us. Location ok on main Wrexham road three miles from center of Chester

We booked a room for 5 and we only had enough beds for 4. We queried this with reception and an additonal folding bed was brought to us. Sadly it was very uncomfortable and the mattress was so thin. The aircon was also not working and it extremely hot that night- rubbish night sleep :(

Individual AC in my room with a control panel on the wall but it didn’t work. So it was high 20s in the room and impossible to sleep, I just got a couple of restless hours. I was asked at checkout if everything was ok and I mentioned about the ac. Response was that the rooms I was in were on a malfunctioning system. This makes no sense as I mentioned there was an individual unit in my room it was not centralised ac. I asked if the other rooms had ac but was told approximately 60 percent of rooms have functioning ac so beware booking this hotel in the summertime!!! If you’re from Africa or southern Europe you might be ok but if not you will not get any sleep with the excruciating heat and lack of ventilation!

Only then was I told that some of the hotel rooms had been without air conditioning for a while. Instead of offering a solution straightaway, the receptionist asked how many children I had. When I replied “just one”, I was simply told there were no available rooms with working air conditioning. It left me with the impression that if I’d had more children, I might have been given priority, which felt rather unfair. Finally I was only given an extra fan. That night was extremely hot, and both adults and children in the room struggled to sleep properly. The hotel really should handle this situation better. At the very least, guests should be notified by email or phone in advance. If I had known even a day earlier, I would have cancelled the booking and stayed elsewhere.

We booked to superior rooms. When we arrived the hotel had no power and no facilities available. We couldn’t book in or use any convenience. We had to leave and come back 3 hrs later. The staff were very good and tried their best at all times. They offered to store our luggage until we returned to try booking in again.The hvac in the rooms was not available and we had a small fan provided which was not much use on one of the hottest days of the year. I suspect it had been out of action for at least a few days. If so that’s not acceptable. Basically a very poor hotel experience but not the fault of the staff we encountered who were all excellent despite obviously having to handle a lot of pressure. Not up to standard.

They offered to store our luggage until we returned to try booking in again.The hvac in the rooms was not available and we had a small fan provided which was not much use on one of the hottest days of the year. I suspect it had been out of action for at least a few days. If so that’s not acceptable. Basically a very poor hotel experience but not the fault of the staff we encountered who were all excellent despite obviously having to handle a lot of pressure. Not up to standard.

Hotel room was very quiet with black out blinds and a comfortable bed, so we had a great night's sleep. The room and bathroom was spotless. The only downside is that the corridors looked a bit scruffy, but I guess they get a lot of wear. The bedrooms, lounge and reception were great. We didn't use the pool or gym but it looked good.

Problems perhaps affected by the excellent earlier stop in Warwick/Stratford. The premises are looking very tired, the swimming pool was closed for re-furbishment, after heavy rain the ceiling of our room leaked overnight and soaked my duvet. Had to move ourselves to a new room a long way along the corridors. Our room missed cleaning on two occasions, evening meal was served in the bar area where the majority of seating was on high bar stools certainly out of reach for “senior”citizens. Check in was quick, with efficient & friendly instructions. A long walk to the room but then we did ask for a quiet room. The friendly service from (Mark?) when we ordered food & drinks in the evening was excellent( he’s a wonderful salesman!) The only downside was the extreme heat due to the air conditioning not working on a day when the temperature had been in the high 20’s. We used the pool& jacuzzi before breakfast which was fine but the paint is hanging off the rails above the jacuzzi- definitely needs sorting.

Chester is a fantastic city to visit especially with the children. Lots to see and do. We dod a family trail and learnt do much. The hotel was a great base, just across the road is a park and ride bus service that took you straight to the centre snd easy to pick up back to the hotel. Great to have the pool and restaurant service too the breakfast certainly filled us up for our days out.

The room and inside of the hotel were fab. It was very comfortable and clean. Don’t be put off by a dated exterior. The inside is lovely, staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet was good quality - no complaints. The park and ride is right next door for an easy trip into Chester. We had a happy stay.

Stayed on the outskirts of Chester parked the car and used the park and ride service which is very close to the hotel. The service is excellent and saves using the car as Chester is busy. There is an Asda shop 2 minutes away at the garage for papers etc if needed. We found the hotel easy to get to and was great to return home due to location. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was fine. Enjoyable break.

If you’re out of the central Chester city area, this is a really convenient place to stay. Just be warned, the nearby roundabout on the A55 gets clogged at rush hour in a number of directions. Just leave for work early! The establishment is pleasant, clean, and the staff will do what they can if there’s a problem. Example: on my first check in, Expedia had stopped sending bookings across. I’d only booked an hour before. I was given a bar voucher and told they’d call me as soon as the problem was solved. The on-site pool and gym is also a nice feature. So far, six weeks of two nights each week proves my usual criterion: would I stay here again. I’m just about to book my seventh week!

Hotel is just across the road to the park and ride that's great the room was ok but could have done with a hover as had crumbs on the floor by tv and side of the bed. The whole place needs a good clean up the outside could do with some paint and brightening up. Decking in the garden taped off as was unsafe to use. Shame really location is good but HIG need to spend some money on it before it’s too late.

Breakfast was okay a few things were lovely but the bacon was too tough, the eggs were only good if you got them when they were first put out if you didn’t they were like rubber! Also the scrambled eggs were very dry. The hotel staff were lovely and were on hand if you had any problems. We found the hotel needs needs a bit of TLC apart from the spa and pool, that was fab. The bar needs to have a bit more choice, no slimline tonic’s which I found very strange plus no flavoured tonic’s. Cokes should have other options not just syrup mixer on tap! On saying all this, I found out that this hotel was housing illegals up to a few weeks ago so things take time to get back to running normally again. Would come again? Yes I think we would.
