Stonecross Manor Hotel

A lovely hotel for a weekend but shame the SPA was under renovation. Was a cosy hotel & comfortable. But rooms need an update. Our shower head kept dripping, which was annoying. The reception/bar area was cosy. Didnt have breakfast, but looked peaceful. Car par was small so my friend struggled a bit.

The hotel lift was out of action and we were on the second floor The rooms up there are a little smaller and husband kept bumping his head on the loft alcove The breakfast was really good and cooked to order The sauna was the best I have used over many hotels but the pool a tad small Can’t expect miracles in an older style building All in all we were very happy

Very very disappointed that the pool facilities weren’t available due to refurb - they didn’t offer a refund or anything to compensate- at the end of the day the pool facilities were part of the reasoning behind this booking to get away and relax - very disappointed

Nice location and well presented areas. Spa facilities are not available currently, which was disappointing. The staff were lovely, breakfast was very good and the room was small but good. A very good stay, despite the spa disappointment.

This is the second time we have stayed at this property in 2 months. We cannot fault the hotel. Very clean and modern and the facilities are great (bar, restaurant, pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room). Staff are friendly and helpful. 20 minute stroll into Kendal. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Hotel was situated just south of the town around 15-20 minute walk. Hotel has a lift and the leisure facilities were amazing. Swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. Breakfast options were great also

Stonecross is a lovely old manor house that has been well restored. Quite often these old buildings fall into disrepair because of cost, but my wife and I felt it was really well presented. Stonecross is located close to the M6 but a short drive from The Yorkshire Dales or Lakes. The lobby is spacious and classy feeling with the tickle of piano music in the background. There is parking for around 10 cars with EV charging for three or four. The charging is provided externally by enozzle. 32 rooms are available but the place was quiet. The standard room was bright clean and comfortable with bath and shower. The food is excellent. There is a small but well designed menu for evening meal and drinks are not overpriced. Two alcoholic drinks cost is £12. We had a lovely stay for our anniversary and i would strongly recommend.

Nice hotel within close proximity to Kendal town centre only a few miles. Access to main routes to all lake district and motorway network. Hotel nice but needs the added wow. Needs a good clean lots of dust and cobwebs around. Staff polite and friendly, breakfast good and good choice. Lounge area dull for sitting having a drink and continuous awful music. List of of action and could cause mobility issues to higher floors. Electric car charger bay not well sign posted and couple of times found non electric car parked in bay, not helpful if needed to charge. Outside area needs a tidy up. Rooms incredibly hot through the night, radiators not on and window open. Overall good for what we needed but not potential return.

Breakfast very nice, room very clean.

Really nice hotel , only things that let it down were the steam room needed a good clean and the room door was splattered in old coffee

The staff were very friendly throughout our stay. The room was comfortable and very clean. The pool was great. There was a great selection for breakfast and the food was very good and plentiful. We would definitely stay here again when visiting the Lake District area.

The room was no better than a Premier Inn. The amenities were shut for refurbishment. The corridors and stairways were dirty from the building works. The doors banged and the floors are creaky. Glad the hotel was nearly empty as hate to think of the noise created by a lot of guests

We recently booked a night at Stonecross Manor as part of our ten year anniversary celebrations planning to enjoy the spa facilities. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were informed that the pool and spa were unavailable due to renovations. At the time of booking we were not informed that this would be the case and Hotels.com did not highlight that any renovations were taking place. Our room was spacious and we enjoyed how the hotel is supporting local businesses through the handmade toiletries. However, the walls were covered in marks, the carpet was dotted with coffee stains and most disappointing of all was the fact that we discovered in the morning that the window frame and net curtain were absolutely covered in black mould. After an evening out, we arrived back at the hotel to find that the outer door was firmly closed and we could not alert any night staff via the intercom or by ringing the hotel. We were left wondering what to do for around twenty minutes before completing a circuit of the building in complete darkness and discovering the outside door of the kitchen. Luckily a member of staff was in there at the time and we finally gained access to the hotel. Staff were sympathetic during checkout but no offer of discount or compensation was made. Given the rather hefty price tag of a single night and the lack of amenities, together with the distinct lack of cleanliness of the room, we cannot recommend this hotel and will not be returning.

The hotel was going through an extension and refurbishment when we visited. The pool and spa facilities were also closed. The corridors to the rooms were dimly lit and smelt quite stale. The downstairs was quite nice and modern but the room we had was in a desperate need of updating. One wall looked as if someone had tested different paint pots on it. Painted woodwork was dirty, chipped etc. The tiny TV had about 6 stations which were impossible to watch as there was aerial problems. The curtains barely covered the actual window when pulled. The bathroom looked clean but there was nowhere to put out toiletry bags. The shower squirted water everywhere from its connection at the top, and the toilet bowl definited needed a deep clean! On a positive note, the staff were very pleasant and friendly and the cooked breakfast was great.

We had small room of 2nd floor which was quite small because of eves but adequate considering the price paid using Expedia points .Room was probably due to a freshen up. The dining area was nice but rather deserted during stay . The pool etc was an asset to hotel and I enjoyed using it . Only saw two ladies on reception , both friendly and helpful.

Room was clean but bed really hard. So bad I didn’t sleep all night. I’d suggest softer mattresses or a deep mattress topper. Biscuits in my room were crushed to crumbs too. Staff were faultless and food exceptional however the noise from their current building works was unacceptable. I was woken at 8am to a crane outside my window, workmen stomping around outside my room and unfinished decor and a lift stiff covered in plastic wrapping. I’d suggest not accepting guests until you have completed your works.

The room was cold because the radiator wasn't working. The staff tried to fix it but eventually had to get a plumber. I didn't feel the staff were very apologetic and although we had originally intended to have dinner at the hotel we left them in the room and went to another restaurant do

The room was lovely and spacious. There was no view outbof the window as the hotel is being extended. The staff were helpful and did everything they could to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as they could. Helen and Chloe were particularly good and always made us feel welcome.

Lovely night away, room a little small and functional. Same could be said for the pool area, sauna and steam rooms. Though all spotlessly clean. We had dinner and it was really good, food was fresh and cooked t deliciously. Great lamb shank. The breakfast again was grand fresh and cooked to order. Food and drink very reasonably priced so great value for money. There was nothing wrong with the rooms, just not to the level if described as upscale hotel, which I think is the description I recall.

The room Was small with an angled roof, small double bed. The bathroom was really nice and modern, can’t fault the cleanliness. Staff were really pleasant but difficult to get hold of. No way of telling them you were at the desk and we stood for ages trying to get a drink even though we were the only ones in the bar. Breakfast was disappointing as was mainly fried. Bar area modern and welcoming. A bit of a mixed review tbh! The pub down the road was great (Romneys)

I was halfway through a long drive and booked here for the facilities as well as just the stopover. Quality of restaurant exceeded expectations. Excellent Wi-Fi (could even stream the football in the lounge, no problems) A great price, with parking, use of pool etc, Wi-Fi and breakfast all included. Friendly and super helpful staff. Overall was just what I needed and had wanted for this trip.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights here, staff was lovely, convenient location, breakfast was excellent, nice having waters, teas, coffee, coca & cookies in the room. For a driving trip, really liked the location. Good parking, easy access to best roads for exploring the Lake District. Bathroom has a deep soaker tub/shower: lovely on a hiking trip! Excellent cook to order breakfast in a nice sunny room and comfortable lounge for bar drinks. The quibbles: bed small for a couple (N Am expect a Queen or King), the comforter also small for a couple: if one turned over, we had to readjust it so both were still covered. Top floor roos have a sloping wall so my 6'3" husband had to sleep on the far side of that (not our usual habit.) On checking in & seeing the room asked if there were any alternatives but told nothing else available (odd since the hotel didn't seem busy.) Pity because so much else was excellent but ultimately a good night's sleep is always the #1 thing about a hotel!

Our stay was for one night to break up our journey to Scotland. Stonecross Manor suited our needs perfectly, staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is quite compact and nice and quiet, our children enjoyed the pool which was one of the reasons for booking. I thought the food was a little expensive so we ended up eating out. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Stonecross Manor.

Great place, great food, great staff. I come to Kendal 4 times a year on business and allways stay here.

Disappointed with this trip. On arrival there was no lunch service available as they were servicing a function. The lift was not working all week which meant carting cases to the top floor. The bar only had 2 beer taps working then ran out of beer.

Super friendly staff.

We arrived late and the front desk was so accommodating when the room we booked (two twin) was not available. They offered to convert a king room into a twin and were so helpful and friendly. The room was clean, tidy, and had a beautiful view. Breakfast was outstanding. Would definitely stay here again.

Very disappointing. Booked twin room as I was travelling with my 15 year old son. On line room looked spacious enough for us to have some privacy. On arrival, after driving for 5 hours, checked in. Went to room. Double bed. My son was horrified, not wanting to sleep with his 60yr old mother. Returned to front desk, was told that I had made the mistake when I booked. I had the booking on phone confirming the twin. I asked if there was a twin available. Was told there wasn't, but that my son and I could top to toe in the double bed!Neither of us slept well. In the morning I spoke to another member of staff regarding the room. Was told nothing could be done and that I would have to sort it out with booking agent, as it had nothing to do with the hotel. Attitude of staff member was short and dismissive. We left without eating breakfast.

This is a very nice hotel, but was under construction when we were there, so a bit jumbled. Will be much better when the construction is finished. Easy, good parking and a nice walk into Kendal.

Nice building inside and out. Easy to get to and for public transport. Friendly staff and comfortable room.

We stayed at the Stonecross manor for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding near by. The hotel was very pleasant. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Parking was good and plenty of spaces. Dinner and breakfast were very good quality. The hotel is well situated for a walk into Kendal and also for exploring the Lake District.

Character property which is on a main road so traffic can be heard into the late night and early hours of the morning. This hotel is ideally situated for walkers and the like looking to get into the outdoors of Cumbria and the Lakes. Food was really good and good quality. Staff were very friendly and professional.

Great room. Good location to walk into the town. The hotel was under some repairs / renovation hence a star dropped on one or two things.

Beautiful old hotel, but off the beaten track - well outside the town of Kendall. Nice pool. Run by a single staff (out front) who was exceedingly kind. A restful spot.

Sadly I didn’t have time to go to the pool so cannot comment. Breakfast had good choices of hot and cold food. Portions more than adequate. Staff very friendly. Well appointed - 10-15 mins to walk to Kendal town centre. Would definitely stay again,

Undergoing refurbishment which entails open works and restricted parking. Food was good, but tends towards pretence rather than variety.

Breakfast very nice, room very clean.

We had an enjoyable three night stay here. A nice location for exploring the South Lakes and beyond. The staff here go over and above to make you feel welcme and there is always service with a smile. Also, the food at this hotel is amazing and beautifully presented.

Food was great first night our meal.how ever breakfast not good on satuarday.bacon burnt and sausage and the evening meal which we order same dish on the friday night was not good at all .other than that hotel was nice and a would stay again.

Nice premesis but shower did not work properly and was far too hot on the room. Far from perfect but was OK. Breakfast in the morning was utterly garbage. My other half is a vegetarian who does not like mushrooms so the kitchen thought it was acceptable to serve a rammakin of beans, 2 veggie sausages and a single hash brown for a veggie breakfast. Staff were nice enough and the bar and everyrhing was fine.
