Property is looking tired in places with DIY in bedroom very evident - paint on sockets, flaking paint on ceiling. TV was a challenge to get it to work but was good once going. Car park was a nightmare with no defined parking spaces so Amish mash if parking angles and areas. Staff and breakfast were great though

the hotel has great character and the rooms and service were good sadly the trip was ruined by the early closure of the bar i was there for a wedding and a lot of the guests were very upset by the early closure of the bar

Facilities looking a bit tired and dated but nice and clean. Was impressed with vegan options on the dinner menu and the quality of the food was very good overall. Service was also very good. Shame that the spa is a mile away so didn’t bother to use it. Parking a bit tricky. Prob won’t use again as didn’t like the location, but was convenient for us as a one night stopover in a long journey. Pluses are definitely dinner and lovely service.

Stayed at this hotel before, tucked out of the way but close enough to the local shops and pubs/Restaurants. staff were pleasant andcattentive, nice spacious comfy room, Breakfast was clean and tasty with a wide choice, all in all a good stay, my only slight negative is the parking, spaces are limited, however if people parked sensibly and not selfishly , there would be ample space .

Hotel was lovely the room was beautiful with 4 poster bed. The only thing I would say is that you don’t get to use the pool or spa and when I booked it. It didn’t say you had to pay extra on the booking at the time so that was abit disappointing. Apart from that location is great. We walked into Darlington for dinner.

This hotel does NOT have a spa. Hotel.com is deliberately misleading on this point. The spa is a 15-20min walk or 5-10min drive. Hotels.com is aware but still haven't changed the info. you are made aware of this on the hotels own website but that's not useful when booking through hotels.com. Other than that a perfectly nice hotel.

Lovely hotel, well situated in Darlington. Very professional, polite and helpful staff. Reasonably priced restaurant with good food. Downsides are that there are a lot of stairs to some rooms, with no lift, and parking can get a bit tight.

The bedding reeks. No amount of clean sheets can mask the stench of many years of stale sweat. No safe in room. No Fridge in room. Miserable reception staff. No air conditioning. Missing hooks on back of bathroom door. One dressing gown between 2? Windows painted shut in dining area? No fresh air. I just felt dirty and disgusted by the hotel. Fortunately the wedding I attended (outside of the hotel) was beautiful I wish the same could have been said about the Bannatyne.

What you see is definitely not what you get! The hotel and its facilities are tired and desperately needs a makeover. The room had a bad smell, the extractor in the bathroom was not working and no air conditioning just a small pesky and ineffective fan. Would have scored lower but for the hotel staff (except the receptionist when we checked in) were friendly and courteous. I will not be staying in a Bannatyne hotel again anytime soon.

My bedroom was clean and comfortable, with an incredibly comfortable bed. However, the bathroom was poorly maintained and in need of renovation. The black grouting and stained bathtub made it an unpleasant space.

We had a comfortable stay with a delicious breakfast. The room was dated, the bathroom in particular seemed untouched since 80s/90s. Bed was very comfortable and we had a great night sleep. Communal areas were great. (It can be a little tricky to find your room) Myles was a fantastic host during the wedding we attended and also at breakfast!

The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. Room was a bit on the cold side better than too warm. Breakfast was okay but I’ve had better. Location is good easy access to town centre if your catching a train you need to allow 30 mins from checking out of the hotel to been on the platform which is a leisurely walk for an able bodied person. It’s a 10 minute walk to local auction. Staff were helpful without been over the top.

Whilst the Bannatyne name tends to mean premium sports clubs/hotels etc.. i wouldn't describe this as a particularly premium place. Saying that, the room was well sized and bed comfy. Our bathroom happened to be an accessible one so it was huge but not exactly luxury shall we say. The free/included breakfast in nice. Coffee was good, sausages seemed premium and overall I enjoyed it. Service wise they were a small team quite rushed about, which I guess is pretty normal. You weren't seen to at the table really. More of a feeling that they hope you don't need anything. There was an event on with a disco of some kind but I heard absolutely nothing. I would stay again for £90-£100 if in the area and needed something reliable. There was parking.. although it's not advertised, so not sure what that's about. It's very close to the centre. We were a stones throw from Babul's Indian restaurant where we had food that night.

Hotel was generally good all round but a couple of points let it down. 1. Check in took a while as only one receptionist who was on phone and took an age. 2. Bar had large TV but would only allow sub titles while people in restaurant and wouldn’t even all sound on low!!

The property was really noisey, particularly in the bedrooms. When the kitchen door closed our bed shook! We had a spacious room but only a single wardrobe and no drawer space, there was sufficient space in the room to accommodate a set of drawers. Our room wasn’t cleaned on two days out of the 6 that I stayed there which was disappointing as it meant no milk or tea bags. Breakfast staff were great.

The Bannatyne hotel is perfectly located for a great night out in Darlington. With a 5 minute walk your in the town centre. My room was clean, bed was comfy, staff were really nice and helpful, breakfast was plentiful and tasty. My one and only criticism is that there Menu doesn't cater for people who just want a lite bite like sandwiches and chips, or wraps or quick salad. They only do a set Menu.

This is a proper hotel in the old school way. Courteous staff and a lovely feel, comfy bed, no parking charges, lovely restaurant and superb breakfast. Well done Mr Bannatyne. I will definitely come again.

A good hotel with excellent staff and clean rooms. Only let down by breakfast as every item on the buffet was at best lukewarm. I was on a tight time schedule so couldn’t complain and get fresh food. However, surely staff should be checking this, using temperature probes etc?

Looking a little tired in places. Breakfast which used to be a key guality of the hotel has now deteriorated completely and could be a Premier Inn or even less. have stayed and put visitors in the hotel since it opened when I ran Whessoe ( a local company). Thankfully a return to individually served breakfasts is an easy fix and hopefully they will consider this suggestion.
