Beautiful old inn that has been tastefully modernised. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. Excellent food and real ale available all day and evening. Surrounding countryside is stunning.

We used the Inn for an overnight stay after visiting RHS Rosemore. It was very easy to get to on the A39 and had excellent free parking. The host called us in advance to see if we needed a table for dinner and gave us a warm welcome on arrival. The rooms were comfortable spacious and spotlessly clean. It is an old inn and some of the furnishings are a bit worn but seemed to be part of the ambience. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and served in a friendly but efficient way. I would happily recommend to anyone not seeking a modern clinical hotel.

Enjoyed a couple of nights at The Hoops for a weekend family get together. Excellent gastropub menu with huge portions for dinner and breakfast, comfortable superior room and super service, inside and outside in secluded beer garden. On a main road so front facing rooms a little noisy but not really a big issue in the overall scheme of things. Recommended.

Great for an overnight stay. Plenty parking, but watch height restriction into main bit of carpark. Our room and I think most rooms, was away from bar area and road so not noisy. Really clean, good condition, great for an overnight stay, but standard room a bit small for an extended stay. Allow time for breakfast in the morning, great choice and cooked to order, worth the wait. Meal in bar in evening good. Staff all pleasant and helpful. Would stay here again and would recommend. Thank you to Hoops Inn.

Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent gardens, delicious menu, good bar. The breakfast only starts at 8 - no good for visiting workers and the walk to the nearby beach is a bit of a nightmare.

We really loiked this hotel. Check-in was really easy, the room was spotlessly clean The bathroom has been newly refurbished. The bed was very comfortable with a handy dressing room. The breakfast was fully served, freshly cooked with pleanty of choice and was delicious. We had two eveing meals and really enjoyed them both. Not a huge menu, but enough variety to satisfy most appetites. The staff were all polite, friendly and helpful at all times. We have happily recommended The Hoops Inn tp our friends and family.

This is one of the best places we have stayed on our travels. It’s an old thatched cottage style pub resplendent with some lovely original features. Walking in from the car park we were enamoured with the wisteria hung entranceway with outdoor tables and chairs. Our room was spacious with a good sized bathroom. It was clean and comfortable. I must admit if you sleep with the window open you may suffer from some road noise. We ate in the restaurant on the night of our stay. The serving staff were friendly and helpful, it has a lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. Breakfast was in the restaurant the next morning. My partner and I had a lovely welcome from the friendly bar lady. We were given room 12; mediocre, yet functional. Unfortunately it had a faint smell of urine emanating from the bathroom. The bed was clean and comfortable and the room had been heated well so we were not cold during a chilly October evening. Supper was great. I would recommend having a meal at the establishment. The bar staff are very friendly and the locals too. It has a sense of community about it which is a joy to see. Unfortunately our sleep was disturbed throughout the night. Firstly the doors slam shut and the noise resonates throughout the hall. Later at 2am, 4am & again at 6am we were listening to hotel workers moving some type of heavy object on wheels outside the grounds of the Inn. It is great to still see a working Inn, but at night when one needs to sleep is unacceptable. Breakfast is amazing. The variety and attention to dietary requirements / allergies. Service in the morning was excellent as it was the evening before. The staff there do a superb job. The Inn is a great place for entertaining. I would go again, but not to stay the night. One recommendation I would suggest is to place a jug of drinking water in the room. Tap water would suffice.

The Hoops Inn was great value for money and was ideally located to tour around Northern Devon and Cornwall. The room was clean and felt like it had been recently refurbished. We enjoyed the evening meal and breakfasts. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will stay here again and would recommend it - especially for the price!

This place a very nice and full of history. We found our room very small for us and 2 dogs but was very hot. No fan in the room and nothing available when asked. Pleased we only stayed one night with the dogs. Would stay again as all staff very friendly and welcoming. Food including breakfast was very nice.

An overnight stay in room 2 which is directly above the bar and alongside the road however we still slept really well. The room was spacious and had a jacuzzi bath✅. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was too. We had our evening meal there and the food was terrific. There is also a very pretty garden for some afternoon beers. We will definitely be going back.

Sehr gutes Essen! Das Restaurant und die Bar sind gemütlich. Die Zimmer sind ok und passen zum Haus. Das Haus ist ein niedliches, schön bewachsenes altes Haus leider genau an einer Haupstraße, wo sonst nichts ist. Als Ausgangspunkt für weitere Fahrten ok. Das Hotel scheint familiengeführt zu sein. Sehr nettes Personal. Die Zimmer sind leider etwas hellhörig.

Friendly bunch of people around the bar. Excellent food. Helpful and no issues with our giant dog (Irish Wolfhound). We had 2 rooms. Rooms at the back are modern and quiet. Rooms at the front are lovely tudor atmosphere and we did not notice any road noise.

Arrived just before check room was ready Staff did have to juggle between bar/ reception and serving meals so a little slow at times. Hubby was a bit disappointed with his lamb as had watched other people in the day getting bigger portions but tasted lovely.Anna was so helpful and Millie only saw her 1 evening but really helpful. Our dog was even given a sausage for breakfast lovely touch. The ladies cleaning the rooms were lovely.

Great experience. Took my parents away for the evening, we both had lovely comfy and clean rooms. Lovely dinner and breakfast and very dog friendly, sometimes it can be hard to find places to stay with dogs but this was perfect. Space out the back to walk them, water bowls and space to clean their feet on the way in and even extra sausage at breakfast. Would stay again.

The Hoops is a lovely country inn with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Our room was clean and comfortable especially the bed. A well stocked tray with tea, coffee, water and biscuits. Towling robes were also provided. Breakfast, lunch and dinner had good choices and the cooked food was delicious

This is a very nice hotel in a secluded location. Very good food, good quality real ale and friendly staff made for an enjoyable stay. Only issue was forgotten as regards ordering evening meal, given menus but had to go to the bar to order.

We used the Inn for an overnight stay after visiting RHS Rosemore. It was very easy to get to on the A39 and had excellent free parking. The host called us in advance to see if we needed a table for dinner and gave us a warm welcome on arrival. The rooms were comfortable spacious and spotlessly clean. It is an old inn and some of the furnishings are a bit worn but seemed to be part of the ambience. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and served in a friendly but efficient way. I would happily recommend to anyone not seeking a modern clinical hotel.

Enjoyed a couple of nights at The Hoops for a weekend family get together. Excellent gastropub menu with huge portions for dinner and breakfast, comfortable superior room and super service, inside and outside in secluded beer garden. On a main road so front facing rooms a little noisy but not really a big issue in the overall scheme of things. Recommended.

Sehr gutes Essen! Das Restaurant und die Bar sind gemütlich. Die Zimmer sind ok und passen zum Haus. Das Haus ist ein niedliches, schön bewachsenes altes Haus leider genau an einer Haupstraße, wo sonst nichts ist. Als Ausgangspunkt für weitere Fahrten ok. Das Hotel scheint familiengeführt zu sein. Sehr nettes Personal. Die Zimmer sind leider etwas hellhörig.

The room was very acceptable with a lovely new shower room en suite complete with gowns. I expected to eat in the 'proper' dining room in view of the price of the food:instead it was a 'pub' atmosphere etc. The food itself? First course good.Main course poor. It was oily and the broccoli such as it was was burnt. .....not exactly a special meal for a birthday!!
