Spectacular location, disappointing hospitality It enjoys a stunning location overlooking one of England’s finest beaches, but unfortunately the service didn’t justify the £370–£400 price. My stay began badly when I arrived on my motorbike and was asked if I was lost before being told not to park near the entrance. I then asked the porter, Mark, for help with my heavy saddle bags, but he walked away. After trying to start again by introducing myself and shook his hand, he continued arguing about the motorbike, leaving a poor first impression. Although the room was comfortable, it overlooked the car park rather than the beach. It wasn’t made clear when booking that only Deluxe Rooms receive the best views. Service was inconsistent. I waited around 10 minutes to be acknowledged at lunch, and at dinner I was refused a window or terrace table because they were “reserved for Deluxe guests”, despite the restaurant being almost empty. Minutes later, two guests from my floor were moved to the terrace after requesting it, making the earlier refusal difficult to understand. The cod was slightly overcooked, the ratatouille lacked seasoning, and the dining room showed signs of wear. The floor around my table was also noticeably dirty. The pool and terrace were pleasant, but very noisy with children, not ideal if you’re seeking a relaxing break. The welcome, consistency of service and attention to detail fell well short. At the price I expected better. Would I return? Not at these prices!

Beautiful setting, lovely pool and small spa but with a great view. Food both breakfast and the evening meal were excellent. The room was clean and comfortable but had no view (we knew this when booking, but it actually looked over the roof not even the hill to the back, it was however very quite. I suspect the room would be very warm mid summer as we needed the window open in early May.

We were very happy with our stay, the staff were very welcoming when we arrived and throughout our stay. Our room over looked the beach/sea, well presented. The bed comfortable and the room was very quiet. My only concern was the smell of cigarette smoke drifting up from the balcony below. The breakfast was very tasty with plenty of choice. The only disappointment was the poor coffee flavour/taste. I tried both machines with no improvement. It was not to my taste. Very minor issues. On the whole a very enjoyable stay.

Staff were variable from courteous and welcoming to indifferent. The spa facilities are too small for the size of the hotel. Menu options were uninspiring and generally overpriced. Best thing about the hotel is undoubtedly the fantastic view
