Tiverton Hotel Lounge & Venue

This Hotel has no elevator. Needs an elevator badly. As a 77 year old carrying a suitcase up one flight of stairs was difficult and dangerous. The same goes for the shower. It's a high bathtub with all the dangers that go with it. Would not recommend this hotel for anyone over 50.

Stayed for one night and was very pleased. Clean, big, room. 1 king bed, 1 single bed. Easy check in - I will say there is no lift at the hotel so you would have to state you wanted a ground floor room if needed. Overall a very nice stay and would stay again.

First time at this hotel, staying for one night. A quick visit to Tiverton on the way home from a few days in Bideford to see the Grand Western Canal and assess the potential for a future longer visit. Overall, facilities, food and staff excellent, decor a little tired. Free parking on site a major advantage. Room comfortable, but no USB ports provided to charge phones etc. However, will definitely consider coming back at a later date.

Although (as other review have stated) the decor is pretty dated in places the staff were speedy, friendly and always super helpful. The food was good value and the bar prices not too high either. There was a function on the Friday night meaning the restaurant was closed but there was no noticeable noise or other issues from the function. The hotel is easy to get to and just a short walk from the town and almost next door to a large Tesco store which is useful. We had no issues with parking, even during the busy function. We would visit again.

Clean, lots of parking, staff were helpful. Lots of parking. We were not aware until we arrived that food was only until 6pm that night. (When we arrived due to M5 accident ) also one park of biscuits for 3 people is very tight but the only down points.

Obviously a conference centre/venue, but a good choice for business accommodation, with good parking and good value

Great location and parking for Tiverton centre, easy walk to centre. Rooms were clean and very spacious, hotel is undergoing some refurbishment but this didn't affect our stay. Good breakfast and evening food, the staff are very helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking available. Will stay again.

Good value for money venue. Slightly old fashioned decor but the room was very large and comfortable. Nice to have the bar and restaurant on site. Very good parking availability.

Great facilities. Easy walk to grocery stores, town Center, and historic sites. Excellent dining options at the hotel. Parking on site.

Lovely staff. The room and bathroom looked very tired and in need of updating. There were stains on the carpet. There was black mould on the ceiling of the bathroom.

I booked this hotel for a work colleague, and upon checking into her room, she discovered that the bed had not been properly changed and the toilet was left dirty, covered in pubic hair and urine from the previous guest

Great location Very good value for money Staff are welcoming Room needs cleaning more efficiently. I had to wipe down the room myself and clean the bathroom.

Ideal stop off for us to break up the journey to Cornwall. Good value for money, and accept dogs in certain rooms. The room we had was dated, wallpaper peeling off old furniture, however the cleanliness could not be faulted and beds were comfortable.

I’m not usually to one to be fussy however I had 2 room booked here and quite frankly the overall cleanliness of the room was appalling. I found cobwebs in my room there were stains on my bedding and the cold tap on the shower wouldn’t work I was unable to take a shower as the hot tap was scoldingly hot, nether could I sleep with stains in my bedding’s. I will never stay at this hotel again.

A lot of dust in the room. Especially the bed.

The room was fine for my one night stay, i didnt use facilities as it was only a 15 min walk or so into the town. The bathroom shower head was really small so it didnt throw much water out tbh. I was next to one of the exit doors, they do need a soft close on them as they did bang really loud, also could do with a fan as the window only opens about a few inches, it just needs a few tweeks.

Staff was very helpful and friendly, everything you need is there. Only downside is the rooms need updating but as I said everything you need is there.

3 of us in a family room with 1 bed / pull out sofa bed. Free WiFi, free parking. Single glazed windows let some noise in, but we we were at the back of the hotel at least and the room was big, bed was comfy, duvet and pillows were comfy. Bathroom was fine with bath and fixed shower head. Only 2 sets of towels, 2 cups, 2 glasses, so had to request extra for our daughter which was sorted straight away. The room was serviced every day which was an unexpected welcome surprise (we stayed 4 nights) The place needs general refurbishment in the public areas but it's not going to affect your stay if youre only using the hotel as a place to sleep at night. 10 minute walk into the town centre, less to Tesco. Our only gripe would be that after 5 hours of driving, we arrived 20 minutes before check in and despite being the only people in the reception area, we were completely ignored by the 2 people at the front desk who were discussing something on the computer. Not even a nod of the head to acknowledge they were aware we were waiting. A couple of minutes later, another member of staff appeared without acknowledgement, then a 4th. 4 people behind reception ignoring us for 5 minutes. Finally we were told we were too early to check in and could we come back after 3, so we sat in the car for 15 minutes before returning. No problem with being told we were early, but being ignored for 5 minutes without any acknowledgement made me feel I was in a GP reception rather than a hotel.

The staff was helpful, the room large and fairly clean. Housekeeping was provided on a daily basis. The downside, there is no elevator, so if you are on the 1st floor and have knee issues, there is an issue. Toiletries are sparse and the room does not come with a microwave or mini fridge.

Good value for a short stay. Comfy bed and spacious room. In side the hotel is a bit dated and tired with areas of damaged carpets/peeling paint etc. windows in room hermetically sealed so no chance of fresh air and no air con

Hotel is in a good location, rooms are very dated and in need of a refurb. We had rain poring through the window in the middle of the night! Had to move rooms

What a fantastic time I had at this hotel. Room was lovely and very clean and tidy. The staff was amazing and so friendly and welcoming and really happy to help. I can really recommend the Tiverton Hotel and the breakfast was amazing each morning

It’s a lovely hotel but on the first night at 4 :00am the fire alarm and as disabled we was left to our on devices and never told us that it was a fails alarm and left us in the rain what was not nice. The rest of the three days was out of this world the staff was very helpful and so nice

The small of marijuana in the corridor was over powering. The rooms are nonsmoking but no one cares. It’s a 1980’s dated hotel, it needs an update and the reception staff need to improve their customer service skills. This is clearly a great place for workmen. The food was ok, very hot and enjoyable. It is a low grade hotel but if you want to stop over on your way through then it’s a good place to stay.

Staff went out of their way with all our needs….reception lady Karen excellent efficient service & the restaurant crew were very friendly obliging & efficient!

Firstly and probably most importantly, the service was helpful and friendly. We had some additional requests (bags and bike storage to name 2) and nothing was a problem. Rooms clean, albeit dated, everything worked well. Food was ok. Atmosphere in bar / restaurant was a little quiet and bright for me, but again, service was spot on.

What really made our stay was the service. As we were attending a funeral wake a huge amount of time was spent in the bar area, the staff were amazing and thank you especially to Carol who went that ‘extra mile’ searching for orange slices & special glasses for our daughter!

Upon arrival we were waiting at reception a while before being served, a young girl came over and completely ignored us then walked off again, until we went to enquire if someone could check us in and they advised they had called someone. (She could’ve just told us that rather than walking by and ignoring us). The room was clean. No real complaints there at all. A fan in the room would have been ideal as it was very warm but otherwise all good. Breakfast was good.

Very shabby. Staff try their best but the hotel is in desperate need of a refurb. Food was very poor.

My only complaint is the limited menu which I understand it was in place because of the holiday period, but there wasn’t any sandwiches. Not wanting a hot meal as we were going out for dinner , and I had a long journey to get here. Karen one of the Reception staff was very apologetic and did try to get the kitchen staff to do me a sandwich, however all she could persuade them to do was a bowl of chips! There was also another couple that wanted just a sandwich snack.

A very enjoyable stay. The price was fantastic as was the service. The breakfast was the best I have experienced in any hotel for a long time. Would highly recommend
