Hotel was fine, I guessonly stayed for one night so didn't spend too much time there. However, I don't think that I have ever been made to feel so unwelcome when trying to order a drink at the bar - my experience has always been that the bar is available to residents after hours - not here, at least not without a fuss - so if you're planning to have a few drinks with friends/ colleagues make sue that you finish early!

I completely enjoyed my stay at the MaryGreen Manor. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to ensure all your needs are met. The ManorGreen Manor is extremely charming, great food and drink available parking and close to the town centre and train line. This was my forth or fifth time staying at this hotel and I will certainly book again when I'm back in the area, cheers!

Not bad. Property is used by locals as a wedding venue so there were many visitors joining to discuss this. Lunch area gets packed. Menu of food was good on Wednesday. On the first day of the week, its usually basic (fish and chips, pie etc). Rooms were spacious. Bit dated but add to the Tudor charm.

Marygreen Manor is a lovely 16th century Tudor building set about 1.5 miles from Brentwood town centre. Our twin room was spacious and comfortable, with 2 easy chairs by the window, overlooking the garden, a desk and chair, with a medium size TV on and kettle with teas, coffee and biscuits. The en-suite bathroom was adequate in size, exceptionally clean and modern. Our first night was a Saturday and they had a wedding reception on. As the guests were out in the garden it was very noisy until about midnight. Sunday night was quite different and very quiet. The free parking is very welcome as parking anywhere in Brentwood is a nightmare. Yellow lines or residential parking everywhere, allowing a maximum of 2 hours free in some places. The walk from the hotel took about 30 minutes but it’s uphill a lot of the way. We didn’t have breakfast or dinner so cannot comment on the food. We would happily stay again, though maybe not on a Saturday.

A very historic hotel full of character. The bar area was beautifully and tastefully decorated for Christmas, the open fire just added to the cosiness. Have stayed at this hotel many times over the years as convenient for family get togethers etc. However, the standard has slipped and I would question it's 4 star status. Upon arrival we ordered a coffee and asked for either a pastry or tea cake - was told not sure if they had any food as they were so busy that day! Room should have been ready by 2pm, at 2.15pm I queried status and was told that I had to wait until they received confirmation on their system that the room was ready! There were various private functions happening, the staff were rushed off their feet but did their utmost to keep everyone happy. Not impressed by the way the hotel packed in private events, including taking over half the bar area, without any consideration on the impact this has on hotel residents - comes across and sheer money grabbing! The Sunday roast was disappointing - roast potatoes not very well done and despite asking for the veg to be well done it still arrived crunchy! The icing on the cake was a rather chilly garden room! I still love this place as the building is so charming and the location very handy. But not a 4 star hotel in my view.

We were staying just 1 night, post holiday before heading home to the NE. We arrived late, greeted by a friendly member of staff. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Kettle, coffee, tea, water, biscuits and fruit were all available in the room. The bathroom was also spotless and fully equipped. Breakfast was varied and friendly staff welcomed us. All in all a great stay, would recommend to others

A warm welcome and quick check-in on arrival. The room had everything I needed and was very clean. I returned late on both evenings and I was quickly let in by reception staff. Overall, I couldn't have been happier with my choice of hotel. I will definitely visit again

It’s an okay hotel- didn’t like it that we had to walk outside to our room. There was sewer flies landing in the bathroom tub and on the walls. Dead bees in the chair by the window. Staff was nice and helpful. Nothing special about this hotel. They seemed. It’s with their dining room.

Lovely character property set in lovely grounds, Staff very helpful and welcoming with easy parking, The only downside is it’s a little dated (especially the bathrooms) Had a very dirty bath mat (to stop you slipping over in bath when taking a shower and a blocked toilet that did not flush well, We would stay here again,

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff were polite , the room is a good size and a slept well. Only downside was the cleanliness of the room. When I went to use the shower there was pubic hair in the bath and there were a load of marks across the mirror above the desk, like sticky finger marks. I would stay again as I believe it's better value than some of the other hotels in that area

This is a quaint hotel within striking distance of London (using the Elizabeth Line) and Stanstead airport (about 40 minutes by road). Parking was easy and its literally only 2 minutes from the M25 junction 28. Don't worry though, you cannot hear the motorway. The hotel itself dates back to a long while ago (not sure quite how long) however the decor of our rooms seemed to be stuck in the 1980's. Whilst dated, the bathroom was exceptionally clean and well proportioned. Air conditioning was provided by a portable unit which unfortunately did not seem to work. Fortunately there was a fan – which did work and suited us much better. A nice touch was the fruit provided in the room along with bottled water. Our room had two sets of steps within it i.e. it was "terraced", whilst not a problem for us, this may be an issue for folks with limited mobility. I am sure there are some more accessible rooms. The breakfast was a self service affair with all the normal continental and cooked options. Service was good although the restaurant itself was pretty tired. Overall though, if you can get this place for around £120 a night (or less) including breakfast for two, then you won't feel hard done by. Would we go back?, yes we would.

We had an overnight stay and wanted a little bit of affordable luxury for once. We were not disappointed! What a beautiful hotel. The staff were very friendly, the food was delivered and the whole hotel was amazing. So much so, we have booked to stay again. The bedroom was spacious with a comfortable bed, air conditioning and a large bathroom. The room was set in a beautifully manicured garden, which unfortunately for us we couldn’t appreciate it as we arrived in the dark and left before sunrise! But next time we’re staying in late spring.

The place is very nice and the room was lovely. The comfort was spoilt by the noise of the fans directly outside. The wooden door housing the unit does not block enough of the noise. Furthermore, a fan inside the building also made a constant noise. Inadequate doors with a gap around the perimeter allowed sound to enter the room unnecessarily.

Hotel very dated, room cluttered with dark furniture. Air con not working, asked reception for another fan and was told we can not move you as fully booked just open your windows, great as they was open en but being on ground floor in main walkway proved an issue for security as the room could easily be broken into!!!!

The 1980’s called and want their rooms back! Very dated rooms, dark wood and tired bathroom. We were there on the coldest weekend but the rooms never got warm and the bathroom was Baltic! Staff were great, very clean and breakfast was very good.

We liked the actual building but the dinner and breakfast left a lot to be desired. We found the three menus, to be used in different areas of the hotel, very confusing, it didn't say on the menu to which eating area that menu applied. We didn't like the open plan dinning area adjacent to the conservatory. It felt like we were having dinner in a corridor with lots of people coming and going around us. We had breakfast in the restaurant which we didn't like either. The tables were much too close together resulting in people squeezing between the tables when we were trying to eat, not very hygienic. There was only one ridiculously small and very slow tea/coffee machine for everyone to use resulting in a queue to use it. The food in general was not as good as we had expected the breakfast bacon was like leather but the scrambled eggs were nice. The other thing that earned a black mark was the very thin walls between the rooms. We could clearly hear the people next door 'partying' in to the small hours and to make matters worse when we called the supposedly 24 hour reception to complain at 2am all we got was an answer phone saying leave a message. Needless to say we never got a response which we thought was pretty poor. Overall for the above reasons we would not choose to stay here again.

Hotel was fine, I guessonly stayed for one night so didn't spend too much time there. However, I don't think that I have ever been made to feel so unwelcome when trying to order a drink at the bar - my experience has always been that the bar is available to residents after hours - not here, at least not without a fuss - so if you're planning to have a few drinks with friends/ colleagues make sue that you finish early!

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. Hotel was very nice and really handy, but unusually the staff really weren't very helpful. We checked in and had no idea how to find our room, everything felt a bit too much like effort and that was disappointing as the hotel itself is very good.

The ManorGreen Manor is extremely charming, great food and drink available parking and close to the town centre and train line. This was my forth or fifth time staying at this hotel and I will certainly book again when I'm back in the area, cheers!

Had a lovely 2 night stay in a twin courtyard room.Beautiful setting and the Manor is full of character charm. Reception staff very welcoming,as were other staff around the property.Would stay here again.

This is a quaint hotel within striking distance of London (using the Elizabeth Line) and Stanstead airport (about 40 minutes by road). Parking was easy and its literally only 2 minutes from the M25 junction 28. Don't worry though, you cannot hear the motorway. The hotel itself dates back to a long while ago (not sure quite how long) however the decor of our rooms seemed to be stuck in the 1980's. Whilst dated, the bathroom was exceptionally clean and well proportioned. Air conditioning was provided by a portable unit which unfortunately did not seem to work. Fortunately there was a fan – which did work and suited us much better. A nice touch was the fruit provided in the room along with bottled water. Our room had two sets of steps within it i.e. it was "terraced", whilst not a problem for us, this may be an issue for folks with limited mobility. I am sure there are some more accessible rooms. The breakfast was a self service affair with all the normal continental and cooked options. Service was good although the restaurant itself was pretty tired. Overall though, if you can get this place for around £120 a night (or less) including breakfast for two, then you won't feel hard done by. Would we go back?, yes we would.

Picked because we needed a stopover travelling south into London. Location is perfect, just off M25 but nice and quiet. Beautiful hotel, as good as the photos on the website, really happy with our stay overall. 8yo son recently been learning about the Tudors and Henry 8th so he was very impressed! The only thing that let it down was breakfast. Paid for full English but ingredients seemed poor quality, tinned mushrooms, not very nice sausage. Such a shame as the room we ate in was incredible! All the staff we came across were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again but wouldn’t pay for breakfast I don’t think.

Just an overnight stay in a location that is convenient for London, into Essex and links via the M25 and A12. Room was well equipped and clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Excellent breakfast. The rate for the B&B room chosen was good value for money.

Second time staying which didn’t realise. Room was recently refurbished, overall a good stay, quiet, comfortable, evening meal was nice however didn’t use the breakfast facility. There isn’t a lot around the area from what I noticed however was a business trip so not an issue.

Marygreen Manor is a lovely 16th century Tudor building set about 1.5 miles from Brentwood town centre. Our twin room was spacious and comfortable, with 2 easy chairs by the window, overlooking the garden, a desk and chair, with a medium size TV on and kettle with teas, coffee and biscuits. The en-suite bathroom was adequate in size, exceptionally clean and modern. Our first night was a Saturday and they had a wedding reception on. As the guests were out in the garden it was very noisy until about midnight. Sunday night was quite different and very quiet. The free parking is very welcome as parking anywhere in Brentwood is a nightmare. Yellow lines or residential parking everywhere, allowing a maximum of 2 hours free in some places. The walk from the hotel took about 30 minutes but it’s uphill a lot of the way. We didn’t have breakfast or dinner so cannot comment on the food. We would happily stay again, though maybe not on a Saturday.

Lovely staff, rooms are a little outdated, but the beds were comfortable, the bathroom has lots of hot water and a spacious bath and the cleanliness was great. The room was very hot and there was a fan, but it did little to cool things down. Parking was a problem, but it’s popular for afternoon tea and there was a vow renewal which made it busy. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, no hashbrowns or fried bread, and the sausages were somewhat grey, but were tasty and the toast was nice. Cold juice would have been nice and an upgraded tea and coffee machine as it did take a long time and there was a queue. The receptionist was lovely and nothing was too much - overall a satisfactory stay and at the right price I would stay again.

We liked the actual building but the dinner and breakfast left a lot to be desired. We found the three menus, to be used in different areas of the hotel, very confusing, it didn't say on the menu to which eating area that menu applied. We didn't like the open plan dinning area adjacent to the conservatory. It felt like we were having dinner in a corridor with lots of people coming and going around us. We had breakfast in the restaurant which we didn't like either. The tables were much too close together resulting in people squeezing between the tables when we were trying to eat, not very hygienic. There was only one ridiculously small and very slow tea/coffee machine for everyone to use resulting in a queue to use it. The food in general was not as good as we had expected the breakfast bacon was like leather but the scrambled eggs were nice. The other thing that earned a black mark was the very thin walls between the rooms. We could clearly hear the people next door 'partying' in to the small hours and to make matters worse when we called the supposedly 24 hour reception to complain at 2am all we got was an answer phone saying leave a message. Needless to say we never got a response which we thought was pretty poor. Overall for the above reasons we would not choose to stay here again.

Superb wood beamed manor house. Very comfy room, amazing food. Couldn't fault it. Worth a walk around also, as some amazing architectural features and history. Highly recommended, if back in the area, would definitely stay there again.

This is a lovely hotel. We had a garden room, which was spacious and charming. The beds are comfirtable and the garden just outsude the room is lovely. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had a meal in the lounge, which was excently cooked and good value for money. We also enjoyed the breakfast. My only criticism was that the yoilet flush in the en suite was a bit weak and we needed to flush several times

Hotel very dated, room cluttered with dark furniture. Air con not working, asked reception for another fan and was told we can not move you as fully booked just open your windows, great as they was open en but being on ground floor in main walkway proved an issue for security as the room could easily be broken into!!!!
