Charingworth Manor

The manor has breathtaking views of the surely countryside. Not much else around the property so a car is a must. Parking is a slight problem even though we went during the week very polite staff. Overpriced bar that doesn’t stock Cotswolds gin as it’s too expensive !

The room was really nice apart from a few design flaws such as the tiny sink in the bathroom that splashes on the floor, the surround lighting not coming on and the tea/coffee cupboard being very difficult to open. It was also pretty noisy as well with the noise from upstairs coming through the walls a lot. A comfy bed though and the service was excellent from the staff. Even in very hot temperatures our room was fine but I know others really struggled with the heat as there is no air con. We had to borrow a fan from the kitchen on the hottest nights. One big downside we had was not knowing that the gym, pool and spa had been permanently closed before arriving with no prior notice. We would have almost certainly booked somewhere else if we knew in advance. Staff were very good about this though and gave us a discount. The food was a good standard but really lacked finesse for the prices charged. Breakfast was very good though and the staff made the difference throughout.

We loved the view from the smart dining room. We loved the swimming pool. We were disappointed that the spa was no longer functioning. Building works made the check in very difficult as the signage was confusing. Parking was difficult with a builders' van taking up at least one space each day.

We enjoyed our stay at Charingworth. Breakfast was excellent and restaurant was very nice for dinner - but a bit pricey & limited choices for persons with shellfish allergies. Bar staff made excellent drinks. Our only disappointment was the pool. The room was beautiful, warm & inviting but the water was freezing. Overall our visit was excellent - the grounds are absolutely beautiful and the manor is conveniently located in the Cotswolds. I would highly reccomend this facility.

This is a great hotel for a few days away. Although we didn't use it there is a modern swimming pool. It is convenient for visiting many of the more attractive small towns. The place is full of character and has a couple of relaxing salon rooms. Eating in the restaurant is a real pleasure. The staff are excellent and food is superb. The only downside from our perspective was that although our room was fine, the bathroom was very tired and needed a refit. Apart from this, we enjoyed our stay. and would revisit without a problem.

This Manor has great potential but it's under renovation which ruined the experience for us. Workmen loud voices, construction equipment, building materials and trash scattered all about. Swimming pool closed and tennis court not usable. Apparently the renovation has gone way over the completion date with lots more to do as of this writing. June 27th, 2025

Welcoming and helpful team checked us in, navigated a narrow staircase to the attic room was nice and spacious with modern amenities. Bathtub with shower difficult to climb into and water only lukewarm. Grounds are pleasant with plenty of outdoor seating. Pool ok for a dip with towels available, the changing area was a little tired. The food in the restaurant was very nice, would have been good for the vegan choices to be marked on menu but staff very helpful, however no vegan dessert choices available. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our 2 night stay. Thank you

We have stayed here 3 times and this last visit was disappointing with all the changes. It has new owners, who are lovely. The hotel has lost its charm of an English manor & has been renamed to reflect this. It no longer has spa facilities..the pool has been demolished. Our room was still the same style and very comfortable… although loud base music resonated from the ground floor all day. This can be quite stressful especially if you want to chill. The new style dining room is more like dining in a airport terminal restaurant than a luxurious hotel. Parking is now a bit of a walk as a stylish drive round island is now in place. In the past you could park outside and this was very convenient. Breakfast was very nice and the staff serving it were lovely…they could not have done enough…a very friendly bunch. In the past this hotel although expensive has been value for money…unless things change I don’t think we will return… I appreciate updates have to be made but some of these change’s appear to be change for change sake. They have spent a lot of money. We have recommended this hotel to quite a few friends…shame. Hope they take some of these comments on board.

Lovely overnight stay. Room was comfy, lovely breakfast. My only comment would be to make the pool warm. It was too cold to swim in and enjoy.

We stayed here the night before we set out on the Cotswold Way which was also a birthday celebration and we loved this stay for its beauty and simple luxury. The grounds and buildings are gorgeous and the service beyond thoughtful and gracious. We especially loved the lounge filled with wonderful books and a fireplace-a unique feature. Outstanding cocktails and nice restaurant for dinner and breakfast made for a wonderful experience all the way around.

We had a really good time. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and Dinner has been good as well. Absolutely lovely area and very nice atmosphere. The pool was a bit cold but overall not a problem. Some bits in the bathroom could do with some decorating but it was clean. And very comfy bed and nice bathtub. We definitely want to come back.

While the main house was beautifully done and the food was excellent, our room was small with a small bed and a microscopic shower. The staff were always helpful and friendly though maintenance never got the towel warmer working.

The property is majestic and the staff are polite and courteous. However I would not go to this property as I did not have a choice of vegetarian food . They would stick to a set menu and would not make an omelette instead of poached eggs. Tue mixer tap in my bathroom was loose and the drainage was blocked. The management needs to mindful of customer needs which sadly they are not

Efficient and friendly check-in and out. Good value restaurant with well-cooked, classic dishes, served well. The breakfasts were also very good. Lovely cocktails in the small bar. Large, comfortable bed. Newspapers in the pleasant lounges. Small but attractive outside areas to have drinks in. Downsides were a) the noise from other rooms especially the squeaky floorboards above us, b) some furnishings, decor and carpets past their prime, c) our room was perpetually dark even though sunny outside, d) left to book our own taxi. We enjoyed our stay especially the food but would think twice about staying again as there are possibly better value and less noisy options in the area.

We really enjoyed our stay, albeit the manor was undergoing refurbishment. Room was clean, tidy, with some upgrades required, breakfast was ok, needs a broader provision of cereals, and cold buffet, cooked breakfast was very good, evening dinner meals were very good quality but expensive, staff very friendly and helpful. Thanks to all, if the points raised were addressed then I would give 5 star

Beautiful old Cotswold Hotel with many original features. The rooms have been renovated and are very clean and comfortable. Bottles of water renewed every day. The pretty swimming pool is a bonus. The only possible criticism is that the low armchairs at the tables in the dining room were not practical and extremely uncomfortable.

This hotel has a wonderful location and a superb choice if you want to look at far reaching views. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much troublel. The restaurant and seating areas are excellent. The rooms are a bit tired and there is limited sound protection in some rooms. Parking very easy.

staff excellent,no check in desk only untidy office. hotel very well equiped and decorated.bedroom suite was so dark we had to use a torch to make tea/no way to contact reception as no telephone in the room or contact number electric sockets for dressing table were under meaning we had to get on our hands and knees to use drier /rollers etc (we are eighty )the tv was a disaster to use also it kept buffering the whole three days.we had to chase receiption to replenish the hospitality goods. the hotel gave us a reduced bill to cover our complaints .overall a very nice place to stay in a wonderfull position.

A great boutique hotel for a quiet getaway. Friendly staff and very nice breakfast too. Rooms are a good sized, although a little dark even with the lights on. The TV in our room was quite small for the size of the room but we didn't watch much on the TV anyway so didn't bother us.

Looked better online than in person. TV not available because it came in broken. Couldnt regulate room temp because windows didnt open and couldnt find thermostat. Coukdnt work nespresso maker. No directions and in 3 tries no coffee wpuld come out. Staff very nice and breakfast very good. Comfy bed.

Beautiful surroundings. Feels like a piece of history. So impressive. Room was spacious, modern and comfortable. Nice touch to have a bathtub, and a separate shower. cubicle. Only downside was lots of steps to the room. But was able to park right outside, so that helped.

Very attractive manor house from the outside, but some of the rooms have been refurbished with everything painted same shade of chocolate brown. Walls, ceiling, even the radiator all same shade of brown, and situation is really not helped by very subdued lighting. Some might consider it trendy, but we thought more of a dungeon vibe going on. Staff, however, were very attentive and helpful and we managed to get rooms changed to something brighter! Not sure how many rooms have the brown palette applied, but be aware. Various lounges and restaurant in main house were all attractive and food was good.

When I called day ahead to ask about transportation, the lady at the reception laughed at me for asking if I could find an Uber. Our room was lovely, spacious and luxurious. We loved using the pool daily, and it ended up being the most popular activity. Sadly on our arrival, I had noticed that my luggage was damaged and couldn't be properly closed. The tennis court was full of cracks, making it hard to play. During our first dinner at the restaurant we were served bland soup and oversalted fish. As they couldn't accommodate us for an early dinner the next evening, we asked if they could oblige us with a roomservice, to which the arrogant lady said blankly no. We were offered no options with a small child, other than to have a very late dinner. Unfortunately for the hotel, we overheard a couple sitting next to us getting offered roomservice, due to the lady being uncomfortable around so many people. After making a complaint about this to the assistant manager, all she offered us was to have cold sandwiches served at the drawing room. I rang the manager's office for the cottages and made a complaint, being assured this was something they would rectify and told they would contact me via phone or email. They didn't do anything to help with the differential treatment nor the damaged luggage. For 280 punds a night, I expect better. I can't recommend staying there, nor would we be returning. Appalingly unprofessional staff really ruined our stay.

The property and landscape were really good and the general staff were excellant. However i thought the Manager could have a better manner with the us the customers.

My husband and I (US) stayed here from July 4th to July 6th. This was the best hotel experience we have ever had. Extraordinary communication from booking to check in. Really great staff, I mean, really great. Amazing service. I was Fiona's (Feona?) first martini! The food, everything we tried was delicious. Room and grounds were wonderful. Even the other guests were pleasant. This part of our trip rejuvenated my soul! Thank you!

The hotel has new owners and is under renovation. Our room was all brown, kind of cave-like to mimic a stable. We ran out of toilet paper and there was no spare at 7 am. There are no tissues either, but a really nice espresso machine. Breakfast was amazing, with smoothies and a cooked menu. The location was great. We hiked to Ebrington and through the countryside. Views from the manor were beautiful.

We had a wonderful time at Charingworth Manor. We stayed for 4 days. It was under renovation so there were a few things missing but staff was wonderful. It is located out of town but the Cotswolds are vast and a car is needed.

Great location, beautiful building outside and inside. Definitely will come back.

Gorgeous property. So peaceful and beautiful. Room was lovely. Staff were excellent. Easy access to the Cotswolds. We were sad to only have one night there.

Suite, excellent. Breakfast is Euro Style, no Cornflakes Weetabix etc. Same dinner menue every night.

This hotel was phenomenal. The grounds were impeccable, and the staff was very accommodating and professional. The food was spectacular and the breakfast were very filling. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is truly a beautiful place.
