Beautiful setting. Nice room although starting to look a little tired. Nice Facilities and convenient.

The Gym and Breakfast was great.

Nice hotel, huge well kept grounds, friendly staff. Good breakfast. Other food is good but expensive. Super swimming pool. Guests car park is all under trees, and our very clean car (for a wedding) was absolutely covered in birds mess and tree pollen. We had to rush out and find a car wash first thing in the morning. Every other car was also in same state. Avoid this car park, there are others, but mostly also under trees. All car parks are not close to hotel and a buggy and driver arrangement is available, but again but this can be difficult to get, and a nuisance when raining.

We spent one night, but as the facilities can be used before and after check in and check out - it was like two days. The bed was super comfy and beautifully clean. The room was spacious with a wonderful view. I’m pleased to say that the food in the dining room has improved - we had a delightful meal and the service throughout was excellent. The pool & changing are was very clean, with inside & outside space to lounge & relax. The golf course was in excellent condition- the players not so much!! All in all, very good, top quality value for money. We’ll definitely be back.

Great place to stay. Very large site - great spa and golf course. Very warm swimming pool. Let down however by lack of thorough cleanliness in the room - cobwebs in corners.

Great hotel and great bar

Everything about this place is amazing. Great location in its own golf course and a stunning building with so much history and wonderful facilities.

Staff were brilliant. Breakfast was very good. Grounds are very pretty. Fitness/Health Club very good again with nice staff. Room was uncomfortably warm such that we had to leave window open at night even though it wasn't exceptionally hot outside. Shower temperature control was hit or miss.

A Nice hotel, however, I was placed in the guest house which is a 5 minutes walk to the main buildings where the facilities are. Not ideal in poor weather conditions.

Beautiful on the outside. Filthy, dirty, tired, shabby, dusty, cobwebby on the inside.

Great hotel with some tlc needed in places.

There’s lots of stain on the carpet in our room .. on our first day of this hotel…it’s enough to make us disappointed.

Peaceful & relaxing walks in the gardens and largest walled garden I've ever seen. The spa, pool & jacuzzi are immaculate

Some areas of the accommodation run down i.e carpet, walls with marks on in the actual sleeping area. Could do with different types of pillow as needed 3 for any lift due to being too soft. Can hear your neighbours especially early hours of the morning. Garden areas seem to be well looked after. Reception quite dark but friendly staff.

No provision made for residents in the dining room, heating is lukewarm in the bedrooms and no heating in the bathroom. Generally an unpleasant odour in the hotel which could be due to damp.

Great location and leisure facilities are first class. But as a hotel still falls short of the former Marriott standards. To achieve the status it claims of an upscale Hotel and Country Club it needs considerable refurbishment - and not just patchwork repairs. So many small details make this 3 star at best. No AC in room. Lack of electric sockets. No USB charging points. Window frames 100 years old? Rooms are cleaned in under 10 minutes - not mopped or vacuumed. Piles of laundry in corridors all day long. Key cards keep failing. On our recent stay: We aksed an employee if he could open our rooom. He siad he didn't work for housekeepinjg and couldn't do anything. We had to go all the way back to reception for new keys TWICE. He didn't offer to help 2 74 year olds who had just hauled their luggage to the room. The shower tray was not draining properly. Maintenance guy came with a plunger and left in 2 minutes. No change. We ordered eggs over easy. They were delivered over and fully cooked so the yolk was hard. I asked the waiter to return them and tell the chef. The chef sent him back with the message 'the chef assures me the eggs he prepared were over easy'. Felt sorry for the young lad in the middle and can't believe the chef chose to argue with a customer. A good egg chef scores a lot of points for me. But telling the customer he doesn't know what an over easy egg is ?? Unbelievable - Marriott needs to get back to it's basic standards.

The mirrors in the bedroom could be cleaned but other than that a nice clean hotel room. Nice property.

No plugs on each side of the beds. I had to charge my phone in the living room before going sleep

I really like the hotel but it’s a little bit isolated public transport very difficult. The rooms have no air conditioning which to make it very uncomfortable. If it’s warm last time I stayed it was winter so didn’t affect me but this time I realise that that is a big issue for this hotel. It really does need a full makeover from Marriott, it’s quite outdated, and although some of the features are nice being old, I feel the room is not one of them because it should be more modern with Aircon. New carpets new curtains etc probably won’t stay again and less I can’t get anything else

The ground is spectacular with beautiful golf course and landscape. But sadly the rooms require urgent upgrading as it is really far too dated. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Property was nice enough, and the breakfast was good. The pancake maker was a highlight for our children. Only downside was the noise at night. We were a family of four and the family rooms are in the orchard wing, but this must be where they also put the large groups of lads on golf weekends/stag do’s because at 1am, presumably after the bar shut the party moved upstairs and the walls are very thin. We had to call down to reception and by about 2am they did come up and the noise stopped. I definitely wouldn’t risk going again as a family on a weekend.

This is a palace-manor-style luxury hotel that I really like. The staff are well-trained and the service is in place. The environment is elegant and grand, and all kinds of service facilities are available. It's just that the soundproofing of our room is a little poor, and the guests next door had a late-night party. They didn't finish until 1 a.m., and we went to sleep after they finished.

Food options very good, and comprehensive selection for breakfast Loved the setting, very peaceful. Only problem my room had no AC, and with outside temp over 30° the room must have been 35°! Fans were provided, but way too noisy to sleep

As you alenter the gates and the the private driveway, Hanbury Manor presents itself a very impressive and grand property. The staff were very welcoming and I was very much looking forward to my 3 night stay there. However, as I made my way to my assigned room, I couldn't help noticing many instances of chipped paint corners and peeling wallpaper. The elevator looked like it had been used to deflect many attacks! The room itself was well presented but I was surprised to discover there is no in room temperature controls. In fact I was informed there is no Air Conditioning at all in any room. Ok so open a window and use the supplied in room desk fan. After a very comfortable night's sleep I decided to have breakfast in the hotel. The great room is an attractive setting overlooking the beautiful grounds. Breakfast was good with a large buffet selection and a la carte cooked options. Once again the windows were in poor condition with chipped and peeling paint. It was a reminder that hotels need a lot of money to be kept in good order and this place is huge! I can only imagine the money needed for Marriot to keep this grand place in order - which maybe why it isn't. One other thing, there are limited rooms with a walk in shower which is ok if you are happy to throw your legs up over hip height for a high top bath with a slippery finish. I prefer no to take that risk - the low water pressure doesn't offset the risk! Beautiful grounds. Lovely staff.

Our stay was excellent due to staff being so good.

Check in was easy. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast and restaurants were good when open- expensive but not unusual for Marriott. The hotel is old and needs upgrading. Rooms were hot-No AC- only small table fan which was plugged on far side as room as no outlets near bed. Room was so hot that when the housekeeper came in, she immediately went in search of another fan. Window in room could not be opened and looked like it would fall off the hinges. Outlets on bed side of wall were a strange round 3 pin configuration and room lamps were plugged into these. The biggest issue was the pervasive smell of sewer in and around the hotel for 4 out of the 5 days we were there. We brought this to the attention of the staff and were told that the smell ‘appears from time to time’ We would have moved straight away as we were having nausea and abdominal discomfort from the smell but we were there for a wedding and this was the recommended nearest hotel so we just tried to stay away from the hotel as much as possible. We could not even enjoy the grounds because of the smell. We cut our stay short and checked out as early as we could, Manager on duty when we were leaving refused to give us an extra hour to check out even though as Marriott members we usually can get that. Expedia was very good about getting us some money back for the last 2 days that we had paid for

This hotel is absolute luxury. There were 8 of us altogether celebrating a 60th birthday. The staff are very attentive the food just divine and the facilities are just superb. We used the spa services and the pool area. We had afternoon high tea and ate at the cast-iron grill in the evening . Had yhe best time

Excellent service and lovely place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had found the hotel based on searching for somewhere we hadn’t been before. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was lovely to be able to walk around the grounds in the evening. While there isn’t a great deal to do in Ware, Scott’s Grotto (only open Saturday afternoon) and Hatfield House (30 minutes drive away) are both worth a visit. Thank you to all who made it an enjoyable weekend away for our family.

the staff was terrific

Gave us a cot that was terrible Placed us in a room that couldn’t have been further away from the main part of the hotel. This with a one year old. Told us we should have told them we had a child and it wouldn’t have happened. Not sure how much more you need to tell them given the booking was for 2 adults and an infant and given I told them the baby was sleeping in the car with mum as I checked in. Rooms were grotty, mattress a joke. Not sound proofed so you can hear your neighbours having a p*ss next to your bed. Room service terrible. Asked for a latte at 8pm. Still nothing at 8.45pm. Called them and cancelled the order because the baby was sleeping. Told them to ensure it wasn’t delivered. At 9.40pm they knocked on the door with a latte wanting to charge me £10.56 for the privilege. Golf course looks epic and the grounds are amazing, but the hotel, really, is crap.

Overall the weekend was lovely. The staff are what made it. The main seating area is beautiful but can be draughty. The glass doors at the front door don’t really work and let a lot of cold in. The dining area is a bit of a disappointment atmosphere wise. The lighting too bright, the chairs are awful. It should be more like the red seating area which seemed to be kept for private functions. There’s a huge stove which was barely flickering, the music was also terrible. A lot of simple changes could be made to make this area more inviting and in keeping with a bit of luxury you’d expect at this price point. The food in Cast Iron was good, but Vardon was definitely better! The cocktails were great but the wine list limited. We booked a suite as a treat, but this was the biggest disappointment. It was very ‘tired’ looking with frayed curtains and pelmets, stains on the walls. Any suite we’ve ever stayed at always had a couch, but not in our room and it was big enough to accommodate it. Overall the place is beautiful, along with the gardens, and as previously stated the staff are excellent and what make it, but overall we don’t feel it was worth the money we spent.

Great hotel and great hospitality

Banbury Manor is set on a beautiful country estate, and there is a feeling on anticipation that my children got as we drove into the grounds and down the path. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we had a lovely room. Very comfy beds, great tv. Breakfast had lots of choice, and was really nicely laid out. It is in a spacious room, and felt far calmer than a usual hotel breakfast experience. We went swimming twice, and I thought the pool area was really pleasant. Nice temperature and not busy at all. We had a lovely walk to explore the grounds before we left. I’d definitely choose to come back.

Staff were very accommodating as we had just arrived at 9am and had jet lag and desperately needed to sleep. They upgraded our room so we could crash which was much appreciated. It was also a pleasant walk into ware.

Fabulous surroundings really nice place to escape business of the city. Really nice location and very nice staff.

The stay overall was lovely, but I marked it down slightly as there weren’t many personal touches, especially considering we were celebrating a birthday. Another small downside was the lack of specialist coffees—only filter was available. Finally, the main restaurant was closed, not mentioned on the website, so we had to eat in the bar. It was noisy as there was a football match on. That said, these are minor points, and I’d still be very happy to return.

Really quiet and peaceful place, not much to do besides golf tho.

We came here for a relaxing weekend away for my birthday. The hotel was really lovely and we had a great stay. Really enjoyed the spa and had afternoon tea was which exceptional, plenty of countryside around the hotel for a nice walk. Our room was right above reception and we were a bit disturbed by noise, particularly on the second night when a group returned to the hotel and myself and my husband were both woken up. Breakfast was really nice, but they did keep running out of things which had to be asked for (milk, glasses, cups). Overall a great stay and will come back, but would ask to be moved if we were ever put in the same room.

Courteous, friendly staff in an excellent old Manor House. We hosted a dinner party which went without a hitch due to our waiters. The food was great as well.

Property is lovely some Roma are very dated. The Christmas dinner was the worst dinner I’ve ever had! Despite paying huge amount!

Lovely stay with very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful setting and parts of the Manor House were amazing (particularly the Oak Hall). Our room was very spacious with lots of character! The food from the restaurant dinner menu was ok but overpriced for what it was. The breakfast was great with plenty of choices. Overall a great stay.
