This was our fourth stay at the Duke’s Head for the Festival Too event, but unfortunately it was by far the most disappointing. Our room on this occasion was Room 403. It was extremely small, with only a narrow gap on one side of the bed, which made getting in and out of bed awkward for one of us. There were also no electrical sockets beside the bed, which meant we could not keep a phone nearby to use as a clock. In fact, the only sockets appeared to be two double sockets in the corner by the dressing table. However, the worst issue was the heat in the room. It was unbearably hot, and even opening the window made very little difference. We appreciate that the weather was warm, but surely there should be some form of adequate ventilation, particularly as the bathroom did not appear to have any ventilation either. Breakfast, which has always been good during our previous stays, was also disappointing this time. We repeatedly had to ask for items that had run out, including boiling water, fried eggs, orange juice and yoghurts. Overall, we enjoyed the festival, but we were very disappointed with our stay and feel that the Duke’s Head really needs to address these issues.
