White Swan Hotel

Worth staying there for the dining room alone. Although the hotel said it had car parking, there were very few spaces and the majority of guests parked in a free public car park behind the hotel. However, you could only park for 24 hours and couldn't return within 4 hours.

A lovely hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location and a good size car park, with a free carpark outside aswell (carpark C). The restaurant is amazing coming from the sister ship to The Titanic. Breakfast was nice, the food could of been topped up quicker as no eggs but that isnt a complaint. We will stay again. Thanks

We were in room 7 which was in the adjacent wing of the Hotel. Unfortunately we were unable to park in the Hotel's car park as it was full, but managed to park in the free car park located behind the hotel.

Loved we could take our dog, the room was down a lovely path to the back of the hotel on the groundfloor. Table and chairs outside so we could sit and have a drink in the sunshine. Friendly staff could not do enough. Free parking behind hotel overall loved our visit.

I stayed here to see the Olympic interior. Very interesting. The only downside was no lifts and lots of steps. The rooms at the rear are the best ones to book. Probably could do with a re-vamp and a bit of colour in the rooms. Please change those blinds in the upstairs rooms 😂 I would stay again in tge rooms at the back with a nice outside area 👍

Nice hotel, but rooms could do with an update. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast, but some of it was cold due to the method of serving it. Beautiful dining room reclaimed from the Olympic, sister ship of the Titanic. Free parking either at the hotel or car park nearby. Alnwick itself is a beautiful old market town.

The restaurant was great; however as seniors we were expected to carry our luggage up three flights of stairs as no elevators......shock no bus boy tor luggage assistance!! terrible

We were given a large family room which had been modernised and was bright and airey. We have stayed at the hotel many times and some of the rooms, especially in the annex, are quite dark and dated so our room this time was a nice surprise. Disappointed we couldn’t get a drink at the bar which closed at 10 pm due to staffing issues. It seemed odd that there was nobody able to serve us 2 drinks as residents! Overall however the room was lovely and our stay was good.

Room was clean enough. Shower was ok. Shower curtain had stain on it though, ugggh😕🚿. Would have preferred separate shower cubicle. Mother in laws room appeared to have a faulty radiator. Pretty basic room with no stand out features. It was ok for the price.

Bathroom tiles had dirty grout on the floor and black marks on the walls. The ceiling above the bath was stains. Window in bedroom was dirty and lower pane was cracked. It let the wind in. Public areas were OK

The bathroom had urine stains on the toilet seat and the sink and plug hole need to be replaced

The hotel is well placed in the middle of Alnwick. However when we entered our room it was 'tired' . The double bed had passed it's sell by date and was extremely lump. The double duvet was within a super king sized duvet cover and wasn't as warm as we had hoped. The vanity table where the kettle stood has had a lot of water damage and the TV was set on a chest of drawers right in front of the mirror. The bathroom floor was not good with a lot of dirt and hair that was not ours, so we cleaned that with some damp toilet paper. Anyone staying in room 126 will notice immediately that the bottom of the bath was rusty and the shower control very stiff. We each had a shower on arrival as we were at a reception at Alnwick Gardens and after my wife had a shower the folllowing morning the soap dispenser had run out. We really should have stayed at the Premier Inn out of town!!! Breakfast was all cooked on heater trays and all that was out was apparently all there was and it had sat there some time. No staff on duty when we left to discuss issues with so left key at reception. A poor experience which will not be repeated.

All the reception,bar and restaurant was amazing,such a lovely old building,however the rooms are very dated and could be cleaner,the windows are black around the frame,especially in bathroom,the shower curtain was still wet and yellow round bottom,so hadn't been changed,it all just needs a good clean.i dont mind old,but keep it clean

Room a bit dated but comfortable. Hotel itself decent. Staff brilliant, breakfast superb. For the price we paid really good value. The Olympic room was impressive.

The accommodation was perfectly adequate for our 1 night stay. The bathroom definitely needed a refresh. Rusty plugholes etc. the windows also need replacing and the mattress wasn’t great quality. All that said we enjoyed our stay in a spacious room.

This is a historic hotel with a 1930's style but cleverly made over to incorporate most modern facilities and everything is very clean and functional. The staff are friendly and helpful. A star feature installed in the hotel is the ex- RMS Olympic (ref. Titanic) dining room, which is where guest breakfast is served as well as dinner. It complements the feel of the place really well. The breakfast buffet is unpretentious but good with full English self-service. We booked only one night but our stay will be memorable for all the right reasons.

Served the purpose. But I would not book there a second time. Mold on the window seals and no lift.

A brief stay at the White Swan to attend a wedding at the Alnwick Garden. We were given an early check in due to the wedding timings, the receptionist was really pleasant, helpful and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable but, as it was on the front of the hotel, there was a little traffic noise in the morning. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here en-route back from Scotland to Essex, primarily because we knew the S.S. Olympic First Class Lounge was here & we would be having breakfast in there! A unique experience it was. Good breakfast, too. The room itself was on the first floor & overlooked shops/pubs. Was a bit noisy with traffic up to a certain time & we heard a commotion coming from outside a pub. No air conditioning - we were there in a heatwave. Small double bed. It was OK, but nothing special. Alnwick itself is a lovely market town.

Small attic room, hot with little airflow, needed a fan. Room and bathroom good sizes, overlooking the front high street so some noise overnight. Free parking onsite and in two public car parks at the rear of the hotel. Breakfast in the Olympic suite was good and plentiful in a very grand setting!!

Room was huge, good facilities. Breakfast was buffet on 2 out of 3 mornings so only alternative to full English on 1 morning.

Hotel was pleasant but needs a lot of investment - tatty rooms and paint peeling off staircase etc. Could be really good if it was uograded

The room was old and a bit dated. Clean but with old stains in the sink and mismatched devans etc. The room was quiet and the bed comfy. The bathroom was very small but functional. There should be a warning sign over the hot water tap as it was actually scalding hot. Breakfast was fine but the cooked selection cold and the eggs rubbery.

Trivial minor problems which doubtless would have been fixed if we'd stayed more than one night - door lock floppy, one bedside light not working as hadn't been plugged in under the (immovable) bed, which was, incidentally, extremely comfortable. The dining room, with related photos in the corridors, was truly memorable.

On arrival the staff at reception were not that welcoming. After check in we went to room which had a large damp spot in the top corner of the room which we reported. Also the hot tap was loose. Breakfast was good but again staff could be friendlier. On check out there was a £10 gratuity added as well as a £15 staff benefit charge which if you dont question it gets added to your bill. Overall our stay was ok but the hotel should look into issues.

Another lovely stay at the White Swan. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good in the Olympic room which is a remarkable venue from the Titanic's sister ship.

Good customer service

Nice clean and comfortable room, nice touches. Check in went smoothly. Only problem was the communication between the reception and the restaurant. Would recommend !!

On arrival, the reception staff could not have been more helpful, having kept suitable parking reserved for our expensive motorcycles. Booking in was warm, friendly and efficient. The hotel was cold. We wore our Coats in the dining room for evening meal and breakfast. My mattress had a sink in the middle and bowed to the middle. I didn't sleep well - which is why we were there, to sleep. 5 of us wee on a motorcycle touring holiday and we needed good sleep in order to ride the following day. The bathroom had a musty smell from under neath the floor. The staff were great, gentle, good humoured and very customer focussed. The public area were very well decorated, were clean and spacious.

The bedroom decor was tired and room servicing was below par, water glasses not cleaned. The bar staff were not always available and when we went for a nightcap after the theatre the bar was shut at just 10pm

Very friendly, helpful staff, good size room and an excellent breakfast. Our room was at the front of the hotel & there was a lot of noise late at night/early hours of the morning, we appreciate it was a Saturday but when you are travelling you do need a good night's sleep - not the hotels fault but it did affect our stay.

Ideal location, room was clean but a bit dark. Really good breakfast most mornings, not able to book an evening meal as they said they were fully booked although we only saw 8 people in the restaurant. Plenty of other places to eat in Alnwick luckily.

The hotel is very well located for access to a plethera of good interesting places to see. The staff were very polite and provided us with lots of information about the area. The hotel was clean and well presented with historical features, not your modern clinical design. The bedroom was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a bath and overhead shower. The food ad service was good.

Staff very helpful. Lounge area very nicely decorated.Overall an impressive interior with great dining hall. Unfortunately menu didn't reflect the quality of the building.Food fairly pedestrian. At breakfast no indication that fish( ie haddock smoked salmon ) available other than the usual English breakfast.Would have been good to have this choice at the start!!

Staff were super, room was fine; bathroom needs rethinking - central shower a pain if you don't want to get you hair wet, and there should be a grasp rail for the bath/shower, and soap holder somewhere. Breakfast very good, evening meals only mediocre. Wouldn't recommend eating there.

The quality of the breakfast wasn't great

Lovely hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff. Ate in the beautiful restaurant,which is stunning on the first night. Website says fine dining. It was terrible. Cold food which looked like it had been steaming in a Bain Marie for a long time. Fish was bland and roast potatoes were brown and mushy inside. Mostly inedible. Only things that saved the experience were the staff and the surroundings.
