Fantastic! The public spaces are so beautiful and inviting. The bedroom had everything we needed with a very comfy bed. Easy to take a bus in to the city centre with my EV charging in the car park ready for the drive back home.

Great hotel - a little dated and in need of some cosmetic improvements- but more than made up for by the lovely friendly and helpful staff and a well stocked bar plus decent breakfast. The location was perfect - we were able to leave the car in the car park and catch the bus outside the hotel to the centre of York and also to the designer shopping outlet

I've stayed in this hotel several times before and do like the location. Close to the designer shopping outlets and the park and ride service, or pick up the P&R bus judt outsidecthe hitel, it is quite convenient. Breakfast is cooked to order and the staff are plesant. Its an older hotel, so there are a few creaks and groans, chipped paint etc but on the whole clean and tidy. What does let it down is the lack of plug points at the bedside and car parking charges. Our email booking advised there were parking charges in place (it used to be free) but they were "nominal". £15 per day is expensive and added £45 onto our 3 day stay. They do say you can park on the (busy, main) road but thst might be a challenge as its a busy residential area with home owners also parking on the street. The £15 charge doesnt guarentee a space and the car park can be busy. Its a nice hotel in a good location however the hidden car parking fees might make the difference between staying here or somewhere else.

It was a lovely older hotel, but clean and comfortable. We had to pay for parking in the lot, but it was worth it as there is no other parking nearby. It had a nice bar and dining room. The staff was very friendly.

Lovely setting, lovely hotel staff friendly and polite. Only downside is parking at hotel is £10 don’t know if that is a night as only there for 1 night and the car park isn’t the easiest to park in quite limited. Pleasant stay overall and would recommend, just need to remove parking fee.

Very enjoyable stay at York Pavillion hotel , the place has bags of charm and appeal. We had the 4 poster bed room which was spacious and clean Bed very comfortable Decor could do with an update , barely any sockets available with none at the bedside but we managed Breakfast was fine, only one hot drinks machine for tea and coffee which at busy times causes long wait continental breakfast ,small croissants only but nothing else available in pastries . Fruit was nice and all very tasty , hot breakfast was ok , All in all a very nice stay , we enjoyed our time in York.

Room had huge cobwebs in every corner. Very dusty. Toilet was very finicky to flush if we got it to at all. Room was also freezing. The window was open when we got in and the heat was not turned on. When we mentioned this in the morning the front desk brushed us off saying the heat hasn’t been turned on yet as it will get warm again next week. We froze all night long! Awful sleep on narrow beds with flat pillows in the cold.

This was the third time we've stayed here and unfortunately the last. The condition of the room we were allocated was poor to say the least. The carpet was filthy and hadn’t been vacuumed properly, also for a small room the carpet was in five strips which are separating and freying. The general decor is very dated with the added interest of a large cobweb between the wall and wardrobe, not fresh as it was covered in dust. The "king size" bed was just two singles pushed together and therefore not very comfortable. The only plus point was the evening staff in the bar area.

Room was not clean on arrival including the filthiest plug hole I've ever seen in the bath and was given a dirty towel one of the days and on my final day the room was not made up. Informed them at reception when I checked out but all they did was say they'd feed it back. App will not allow me to add the photos.

My room was comfortable and clean, with everything I needed. The bedroom was not huge, but the bathroom was. The four-poster bed was very comfy, and there was just enough space to unpack my things and put them away. The bathroom had lots of floor space, a good shower over the bath, and a large mirror. One downside was that there was no view to speak of, one window looks out over a flat roof and the other looks at a wall. Another downside is that parking and breakfast are charged extra to the room. However, the rest of the hotel had comfortable space to sit, both outside and inside. Also, the hotel is on a main road (not thst I noticed from inside) so it is easy to get to, drive from, and is on a frequent bus route. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I saw the staff help with luggage and noticed that there is a clothes mending service too. I would happily stay again.

Friendly helpful staff but unfortunately the room was not very clean upon first sight room looked lovely bit dark but nice we were out the first day but however after spending time in the room over night and the next day we both started with allegy symptoms which by next morning had become quite severe upon checking around the room we were horrified to see the carpet of dust on the top and underneath the bed also cobwebs on the bathroom door frame We were so shocked as the hotel was really nice

Staff were excellent from start to finish. It was the staff who made the stay, very efficient. Room was spacious and clean. En suite bathroom was adequate but a little tired, needs a freshen up. Mattress was tired and not very comfortable, but was adequate. First night, I was woken early hours by what sounded like a trolley of crockery being wheeled on a flagstone floor. Wore earplugs for the following couple of nights, just in case. Then slept soundly. All in all, an adequate stay made better by the attentive staff.

I was excited to book what appears to be a lovely hotel, however the room was small, dark, my dress knee length was too long for the wardrobe, the bathroom had a large stain on the floor, the towel rail was very rusty. The carpet was dirty around the edge, it was so hot lower floor was much better, with the window open it was very noisy so a bad nights sleep. Staff were all lovely. Would not stay again for the price.

The property is very elegant, and could be very classy. Unfortunately it suffers a little from a lack of tlc, possibly still recovering from the pandemic. The room we stayed in was clearly delightful in the past, but the bathroom was tired with lights not working and a shower that had seen better times, while the mattress on the four poster bed was well past it’s best. Cleanliness was ok but not great. The staff are friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The location of the hotel is ideal for a quiet stay, but a little too far out of town for convenience, and although there are three pub/restaurants nearby, one was closed during our stay and another’s kitchen was closed. Not the fault of the hotel but unfortunate. Altogether the hotel is pleasant and welcoming, but we felt it was probably a little over-priced all considered.

Charming hotel but showing signs of its age. Could do with refurbishment in the rooms as it’s been a while since they were last done. It’s all a bit dated inside which, for a hotel playing on its history is possibly part and parcel of it, but it doesn’t scream boutique. But a lot of people love that kind of thing so this is their hotel. Parking at £15 a night is, however, extortionate. I’d expect a hotel like this to give free parking to its guests. (I know street parking is free but you would expect a hotel like this to have it complementary). Food was average. Nothing wrong with it but nothing exceptional either. I’d probably venture into York next time & partake of one of the restaurants there. Easily walkable from the hotel, it takes about 30 mins or so.

Hotel was great, if I had a complaint it would be that there was no socket near the bed and I have a CPAP machine I need to plug in to help me breather when I sleep. My charger lead etc was just long enough and I'm sure the hotel staff would have supplied an extension cable had IO needed it (they were amazingly friendly and helpful in every other capacity). However it would be something that could be improved.

No useful power points in the room. It is 2025 not 1925. Need power and sockets within easy reach. Bedside table for recharging phone would be really useful. Having to pay a £50 charge on arrival and then claim a refund in the morning is so bizarre. What do they expect - that I’m going to trash the room rock n roll style or steal a towel?

It is a lovely charming old building which we generally love and respect. Sadly we were there on a hot day and the room with its poor ventilation and no AC, it was like an oven. There was a gentle breeze outside and we had a lovely pleasant dinner in the garden. But sleeping in that heat was impossible despite the small table fan provided. We were exhausted the following day. I would not recommend the room in summer. Staff were lovely, food was nice. Shame we could not get the much needed good night's sleep. The lino in the bathroom did not do it's charm much good, but it was the heat that got to us.

Staff helpful and friendly. Deluxe room, not a chance. Very tired and more than old fashioned. Putting a sign in the reception saying the hotel is ‘old fashioned’ is not a reason or an excuse. Furniture being moved noisily after 12 midnight in the courtyard under the bedrooms unacceptable.

Hotel and room were excellent .... However We we greeted by someone who does not know how to smile or be pleasant. She could barely look up from her keyboard whilst grunting to hold on a minute. Later on when I went back to reception to ask a question I was greeted with "name" once again she could barely look up from her pc. Dinner ... well, my coq au vin. The chicken had been cooked for hours by the look of it and was brown and black! When asked if I enjoyed I showed waiter and got him to ask chef if chicken was supposed to be

This is one of the quietest hotels I have stayed at in York.The staff were excellent.The hotel was perfect for our needs and was ten minute drive to where we needed to go.They had on site private parking.The breakfast was excellent,lots of choices.

First time staying at the Pavilion Hotel York, and it certainly wont be the last, beautiful country house hotel, with beautiful grounds and interior, first impression of walking in the door was a very clean and welcoming place, Staff were very friendly, welcoming and polite, nothing was to much trouble. I stayed for 1 night due to office social in York. The hotel was comfortable but the standout thing for me was the excellent service provided by the friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble and everyone was very nice. I definitely recommend the Pavilion Hotel. Thank you :)

Great hotel - a little dated and in need of some cosmetic improvements- but more than made up for by the lovely friendly and helpful staff and a well stocked bar plus decent breakfast. The location was perfect - we were able to leave the car in the car park and catch the bus outside the hotel to the centre of York and also to the designer shopping outlet

Beautiful old building with loads of character. Outside areas very appealing. Warm welcome from reception staff. Stunning four poster bed but on closer inspection bedroom was a little tired (especially the carpet) Nice balcony area an added bonus. Mattress a little hard for our personal preference. Very convenient for University of York (my daughter was doing the York marathon and that was the starting point) We would definitely stay here again.

I've stayed in this hotel several times before and do like the location. Close to the designer shopping outlets and the park and ride service, or pick up the P&R bus judt outsidecthe hitel, it is quite convenient. Breakfast is cooked to order and the staff are plesant. Its an older hotel, so there are a few creaks and groans, chipped paint etc but on the whole clean and tidy. What does let it down is the lack of plug points at the bedside and car parking charges. Our email booking advised there were parking charges in place (it used to be free) but they were "nominal". £15 per day is expensive and added £45 onto our 3 day stay. They do say you can park on the (busy, main) road but thst might be a challenge as its a busy residential area with home owners also parking on the street. The £15 charge doesnt guarentee a space and the car park can be busy. Its a nice hotel in a good location however the hidden car parking fees might make the difference between staying here or somewhere else.

This is a fantastic hotel just out of the town centre a lovely 20min walk along the river to get i to York. There is onsite parking with a small charge per 24hrs. The colleague's are all very friendly and nothing is any trouble. The rooms are well equipped for your stay, breakfast is a hot and cold buffet you can order your eggs if you want other than scrambled. The restaurant and bar is very nice.

Very enjoyable stay at York Pavillion hotel , the place has bags of charm and appeal. We had the 4 poster bed room which was spacious and clean Bed very comfortable Decor could do with an update , barely any sockets available with none at the bedside but we managed Breakfast was fine, only one hot drinks machine for tea and coffee which at busy times causes long wait continental breakfast ,small croissants only but nothing else available in pastries . Fruit was nice and all very tasty , hot breakfast was ok , All in all a very nice stay , we enjoyed our time in York.

Short trip to visit York to see a few places of historical interest. Picked this hotel as it had a car park and nearish to the centre. Sign in doorway saying that you are entering an old building, decent booking in but not asked if we wanted to book a table so went to room. Room was clean but tired looking. Downer's are the car park is charged for, hotel doesn't regularly offer meals as second night they were short staffed so closed the brasserie, rooms are constantly full so no chance of getting a paint job let alone being overhauled. Best bit was finding the Plough just down the road, excellent food and great hospitality.
