Great stay at a very well positioned hotel. Handy for the LNER Stadium and all the shops / restaurants on the site. Toby Carvery right next to the hotel too so spoiled for choice. Efficient and friendly check in, good comfy room with decent facilities and good breakfast options. A very good stay and would recommend this hotel for anyone saying in the York area. Not as central as some hotels but a handy option with free parking and not far from the centre.

The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. Excellent experience. The breakfast was delicious and there was more than enough selection. We were visiting from Canada and spent 2 nights here. We did not have a vehicle but found it easy to use UBER. It was nice that we were able to get at drink and the small bar when we came back from a long day of site seeing.

Basic hotel, but clean, free parking, near York City centre. Breakfast is included in the price and is of good quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only potential small negative is that there are no lifts - so this may be an issue for some people (it was not a problem for us)

The room was good but could have done with a clean....the mirror when we arrived was absolutely covered ...there must have been children in before our stay....and they had fun in the mirror which is absolutely fun for kids but the clearners toatally missed this (how they missed it mind is totally baffling) ..but apart from that the room was perfectly comfortable and yes we would definitely stay there again and recommend the hotel

Bathroom was substandard in terms of cleanliness with mouldy silicone around the shower area and poor re grouting of tiles in bathroom floor. Pillows smelt musty and we werent able to use them because of this. Breakfast was adequate but far from the quality we’ve had at other holiday inn express establishments

There is no designated parking. The hotel is dated and not cleaned to an appropriate standard. When entering our room there was a damp musty smell which we highlighted to the staff member on duty. There was no offer of a new room. After returning from a drive and removing our shoes, we discovered that the area of carpet directly in front of the bathroom was soaked, as though it had been flooded, or there was an underlying leak from the bathroom in our or, or the one next door. We brought the manager to the room to show her, where she provided some towels for the floor, this did not alleviate the smell. By this time we were informed there were no other rooms available, it was an unpleasant night. This room was not up to standard and should not have been occupied by anyone until the problem was solved. Hopefully the management will see it fit to refund the fee we were charged.

It was easy to find, parking was good, check in was quick and easy, we were surprised to be given the disabled room, there was mould in the shower but otherwise very clean, very close to York centre so we could explore.

Check in was super quick. The room was set up for us as a family. Bathroom was spotless and spacious. We only stayed for 1 night but could easily stay longer as it's such a good hotel. Room and communal areas are clean and well maintained. Breakfast has good choices. Good coffee machine with various options. Non dairy milk also available. Would definitely stay again.

All of the staff were wonderful. My father has some mobility issues and the receptionist noticed this and switched our room for one on the ground floor, all before I could ask. The room was spotless and quiet, couldn't ask for more.

The room was ok but in real term a bit small for a family, with no space to open your luggage really. Beds and bathroom were clean and as you'd expect for a holiday inn. However there was no restaurant on sight as we'd expected from the amenities list on the hotels.com website and we never got feedback from the hotel when we emailed to asked. So all in all, quite expensive from what you get.

We were met after a long drive by the manager Chris who was absolutely fantastic! He was so friendly and made a big fuss of our daughters who loved him! The room was compact but perfect for a 2 night stay. Bathroom was spotless. Breakfast the next day was good with several cold choices, the standard hot options - all of which were replenished during breakfast hours. All staff were very warm and welcoming- we would stay again. Yes the room could have been bigger but it was a great excuse to all jump into bed in our pjs at the end of a long couple of days! Rates were reasonable too.

Booked this hotel back in February as needed an accessible room. Drove all the way down from Scotland for our wedding anniversary only to find that someone else was staying in our room. We were told we had been taken out of the room for some reason and the room had been given to someone else and that they had no more accessible rooms left.

We arrived to find out Hotels.com had canceled our 4 day reservation and the hotel was full. We were exhausted from driving 9 hours in traffic. The desk agent Briony was absolutely brilliant and was able to work some magic and found us a room at a sister hotel not too far away. She went over and above the call of duty to insure we were accommodated for. We returned to the hotel after our first night in the sister hotel and it was great. The staff were lovely. Briony continued to ask us if everything was ok with our stay throughout the following days. She was great and really made our stay. Gill was also another kind face who we interacted with daily. I would love to see Briony rewarded for her friendly, understanding, positive, can-do attitude and just all around professionalism.

Every time I stay at this IHG on the outskirts of York I am greeted with warmth, professionalism and kindness. Amber was on reception, she was very professional and check in was effortless and quick. She also helped me out with a couple of queries. Breakfast was wonderful as usual, really nice staff, full of smiles & helpfulness.

It was quiet and staff were nice and friendly. But I believe it is a lot further away from York city centre than it suggests it is not a walkable distance and certainly not 3 mins away by car it cost me £40 in taxi fare there and back on 4 occasions. The hotel itself was clean. One other thing we got lost at the last hurdle of our journey into hotel we rang the hotel on two occasions talking to two different staff members who couldn’t help us with directions this put nearly two hours on the journey in.

2 night couples’ break for a birthday celebration. Double bed small and didn’t have particularly great sleep. Breakfast good and staff very friendly. We didn’t bring the car as we decided to come on the train to York and we didn’t realise that whilst it’s only 3 miles from the centre, there’s no main / regular bus service or hotel mini bus which would be really helpful for guests (even with a cost attached) Instead it cost us £12-£15 each single way trip. Please bear that in mind !!! It does have an impact on your overall spend for the time away.
