East Ayton Lodge Hotel, Scarborough

Good location to attend a wedding down the road. Parking available both sides of the hotel. The family room had plenty of space and included a double and 2 single beds. Tea/coffee facilities included in room. We weren't informed there would be no food on the evening we arrived however, other parties checking in on the same day were informed via email. We visited a pub down the road which served lovely food and was only a 15 min walk away. The hotel's bar was open. Nice bar/reception area to sit in.

Pleasant 2 night stay. Staff very helpful and courteous. Breakfast was tailored to my needs as I'm gluten intolerant. Bed looked a little shabby but very comfortable and therefore i slept very well (don't usually). Free parking and wifi was an added bonus.

Beautiful hotel and staff were very accommodating however food is not available until 17:30pm

Nice hotel with plenty of parking. Good driveable distance from everything. Morning breakfast was good and food in the restaurant in the evening was also good and excellent value.

Great dog friendly hotel close to North Yorkshire waterpark and to Scarborough ☺️

We had a room in the main lodge, it was clean& bright with gorgeous garden view. No food served on Sundays but bar is open until 10pm. Staff very helpful and cheery. My only slight issue was lack of socket points for charging mobile / laptop. Need to unplug kettle, tv or lamp & sockets tricky to access ( except tv) which we wanted to watch.

Convenient for our trip. Good location. Very good staff and evening food was very good

The property is situated in a lovely location that is accessible to all the costal resorts by car .The rooms were modern and very clean. The main positive for us is that it is very dog friendly . Breakfast was fantastic and staff very friendly. The only suggestion to the hotel would be a small fridge in some of the rooms. We had a baby and it would have been good to be able to have stored the milk in the fridge, but staff were extremely helpful and refrigerated it for us. We will return to the hotel again without a doubt.

Was dissappointed when the restaurant and bar were closed so had to look around for somewhere open to eat. On returning to the hotel it was in darkness and no staff. That was at 9pm on the first night and 5.30pm on the second. We had to help an elderly lady to her room as she couldnt see to get back inside, plus the room was showing signs of water damage/condensation marks down the walls.

Lack of on site eating facilities compared to website. This is fine if you are defined as self catering with facilities in rooms to prepare food but that is not the case. Customer service needs greatly improving as not all staff are welcoming in their approach and do not relay appropriate information to enhance your stay. Lack of on site senior management prescence with only a answer phone for contact when the lodge is left totally unattended . Situation arose with disruptive and threatening guest which totally ruined my stay and left me feeling intimidated and vulnerable and still no presence of senior management even when contacted. It appears that their only concern is to rely on room occupancy being full and offer nothing else that should be automatically included within the hospitality industry. The worst hotel ive ever stayed in and ive stayed in alot and have never had to write a review like this. The potential for this hotel and what it could offer and be is just not grasped by the owners. You can not just offer bare minimum in this industry.

Clean and comfortable room, with everything you need to have a relaxing stay.

The staff at this hotel were great, very hospitable & great service. Restaurant & bar area lovely & great food. Sadly what let our stay down was our room (room 5). The beds were awful, there was no innings left in the mattress! Beyond soft & all you could feel was the springs. Worst night sleep on our overseas trip of 31 nights travelling. The floor went up & down (quirky) but the small bathroom there was no room to sit on the toilet unless you sat sideways & I'm only a size 10! It pushed you forward. We had no sleep due to the very old mattresses which must have been 20 years old. Sorry but the truth. Maybe we were just unlucky with our room. There was large cobwebs hanging from the ceiling light & a brown dirty stain in the cupboard under the sink. The room definitely needed a proper clean & in all honesty, apart from the good service by staff, room wise, olwe would not stay here again.

This were lovely rooms (we booked two, as there was a group of four of us) and they were identical, except one had a shower, the other a bath. They were spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfy. Staff were very helpful, it is worth noting they don't serve food on Sundays but we were guided to a local pub within five minutes walk as an alternative.

The room was not clean. Food from previous guests left in drawers Cobwebs and spiders in the bathroom. Sink bath was not cleaned. Old and tired Shame really

Away on a business trip and the Check-in was good with the young friendly staff. Room had no spare electrical sockets, mattress was old and uncomfortable and well past it's best. Bathroom was tired and needed revamping and could do with a good clean as the sink was left dirty and towels looked liked they needed a good boil wash. Unfortunately for me my room was directly above the bar area and overlooking the beer garden which was not a problem until the Virgin Media employees came to stay who were very loud and noisy. When I eventually did get too sleep I was awoken by the fire alarm and the whole hotel had to evacuatei n the middle of the night because a drunk Virgin employee from room 33 had set it off. Unforunately no one from the Hotel was there to switch the alarm off and we had to call a number to alert them and to be fair someone who worked for the Hotel arrived within 5 mins to reset the alarm and cleaned the vomit that was left on the walkway. Not sure when breakfast was available but the Hotel was deserted when I came down at 7:00am so had breakfast at a nearby Costa instead for three mornings in a row. I stay in Hotels alot with business and although I had a bad experience, this hotel is probably more suited for a holiday or a weekend away because it's in a good quiet location when it has behaved quieter guests.

Pleasant welcome and friendly staff, although no senior management in evidence. Room was ok but bathroom needs a good spruce up due to discoloured grout and shower curtain. Non thermostatic shower meant water temp varied dangerously whilst in use. Ate in the restaurant but a disappointing menu and quality of the delivered meals. No steak option and one of our party who didn’t even touch his main due to quality wasn’t asked why. Breakfast was just ok and they also ran out of beans. Disappointing for the given rating, was expecting better.

Great room, spacious and clean. Breakfast was ok, but not the best, could have been larger portions.

Receptionist was very polite and helpful. The room was small and very basic and old fashioned, we didn’t even have a chair. It was quiet at night but once someone had their breakfast delivered to there room then everyone else was awake too, they didn’t do anything quietly, stomping and slamming doors and talking loudly although it was early. We decided to have evening meal at the lodge which was a mistake, the food was of a very poor standard and lacked any imagination. Although we were disappointed at the fact they don’t do cooked breakfast, it might have been a godsend that they only offer a continental ish breakfast to the room. I personally didn’t eat anything from this offering as I found it all unhealthy and the items full of sugar, only on the second morning there was two very green bananas. The only thing redeeming was the location. Perhaps fresh eyes on the customers journey from entering to leaving and everything they offer in between would be an improvement. I would definitely visit the area again but wouldn’t stay at the Lodge again.

We had a rooms both in the annexe and the main building.Both were very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The staff were all very friendly and we felt very welcome. Situated in nice grounds it is also very convenient for Scarborough and the wider area. Hope to return some time!

A good hotel, excellent staff & good breakfast. Nice location, quiet but easy access to Scarborough. The family room we had was a little on the small size & in need of some modernisation but overall the hotel was good.

Staff amazing. Room dated no plug near mirror. No dressing table/ desk in a superior room. Noise from bar not good if you’re a light sleeper.

Arrived to find the room was double booked, had to pay for and find another hotel, was promised a phone call the and a refund which did not happen. Subsequently telephoned hotel who said to contact Hotels.com for refund.

I requested by phone call a vegan menu for my partner. Also spoke to reception on arrival. Her breakfast consisted of 1 mushroom half a tomato and a portion of beans. I was promised a refund for the breakfast. Despite several phone calls. Have not had the courtesy of a reply Disgraceful would nor recommend to anyone.

Friendly and efficient check in - I had one problem but the receptionist sorted it immediately - room well furnished and set out - the price was a bargain

Nice location for a one or two night stay…. You get what you pay for so don’t expect too much! It does what it says on the tin!!

Hotel was clean and the room as as expected, however had booked bed and breakfast. I asked when we checked in what time breakfast was served and was told that a cooked breakfast was no longer an option however we could have a continental breakfast to the room, just ask later on. Well as I had booked bed and breakfast I should have had to ask! So we went to a local pub for a meal as the menu at the hotel had limited choice, got back around 9pm. I asked if we could order the breakfast to the room and was told that they didn’t have enough for us!! Really poor and disappointing. Had to make do with a Maccies which was about 10 mins away but wouldn’t go back or recommend. If we had been advised that cooked breakfast was no longer available in advance we may have gone elsewhere, but to then be told that they had run out of continental breakfast was a joke! Very misleading!

Great place to stay! Food really let the place down! No seasoning on fishcakes and very dry! No dressing on salad! Steak sandwich was very very overcooked! Such a shame as a great place just the food really let it down!
