The open fire was very welcoming

Lovely view of the river from the room. Very spacious and comfortable. However, stay was ruined by a very noisy hen party downstairs which we were given no prior warning of. Could hear the DJ really loud until about midnight. We did have a bit of a moan about this at around 10.30, only to be told there wasnt much they could do and we were in a noisy room just above it. Real shame as the hotel and views would have been enough to make us stay again, but this just ruined it.

The large car park was pleasing after a long journey and arriving later than planned. The traditional hotel interiors and our room was tastefully decorated but the beamed ceiling in our loft room was really impressive. However we had very little room to move around as the space was limited. We were very disappointed to find that we couldn’t relax and enjoy a soothing shower after our journey, as we were advised (by a written notice) that we could not have a stand up shower!! Actually we had wondered why there was no shower curtain attached to the curtain pole? Anyway we did enjoy a meal in Riverside restaurant - a lovely table with a river view, good service and food too. Unfortunately the breakfast was sadly lacking, poor selection of cereals, no muesli! No tomato juice either. The full Riverside breakfast was poor, sliced bread toast, over-cooked sausage and poached eggs, plus the coffee was muddy without any flavour. Why is it so difficult to get reasonable flavoursome and strong coffee?

The room was a little tired. The bed was too soft, and the sash window was held up by a block of wood on a string. Only a wooden shutter with no blind or curtain had to leave shutters open as the room was too hot. Disco below the room to midnight, the noise of people leaving and clearing up kept me awake until 12:35. The ensuite was recently updated and nice. The public areas are lovely, with a lovely conservatory dining room and terrace by the river. When checking out, was only asked for payment, not how has your stay with us been. Seems to shout they concentrate on events and public visiting and not hotel guests. To leave on a positive note, the staff were great.

This is a restaurant with rooms and does not have the facilities of an hotel. No separate bar seating and no separate lounge - just a few chairs in the reception area. The shower in my friend's room did not work and the plug in the sink was faulty. The maintenance man tried to fix but needed new parts. There was no apology from management or an offer of an alternative room. Staff are polite but most have to cover several jobs from reception, waiting and cleaning. I will not visit again

Lovely Hotel, well situated in Beccles, close to the town with a great outlook onto the River. Very nice restaurant for a meal and breakfast. Great service, very friendly staff, plenty of parking. Hotel is a little tired and our room, No 9, surprisingly only had a bath with a hand shower, not a proper shower and no screen. If we were to return, I want a room with a proper shower, in fairness I am 6ft 4, the Lady on reception did try to change the room, but the Hotel was fully booked. I don't recall ever staying in a Hotel in a room without a proper shower.

This is a nice 3* hotel, very good reception staff. The rooms have a safe and reception will provide a key. The parking is controlled by a third party so you must enter your car registration number each day to avoid a fine. The breakfast is ok, I am not sure if they have different breakfast chefs each morning but our Thursday breakfast was disappointing, poached eggs had to be returned due to not been cooked. Friday breakfast much better although in my opinion the filter coffee needs to be stronger.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Only 12 bedrooms and ours was up two flights of stairs with no lift. So with suitcases we found it quite difficult. Beautiful position on river Waveney, and I. The heart of town. Good Breakfast.

The location of the hotel was wonderful, right on the River Waveney. Our room was very spacious with a sofa placed by the window which gave us a great view of the river and the passing boats. The decor was rather tired but the manager informed us that the room was due an imminent refurbishment. The food was good but the menu a little limited. The river terrace is the star of the hotel, as you watch the sunset sipping your favourite drink. I felt our 4 night stay was quite expensive, but appreciate we stayed during the height of the season. The car park was challenging at times but we always managed to find a space. We would definitely return in the future.

Room was lovely and very comfortable. All hotel areas were well kept and clean Staff very friendly. We were not told in advance of our stay that there was a disco on the Saturday night. We usually sleep well but the noise was unbearable. It was underneath us and spoilt what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend.

The walls and carpet were marked and the furniture dated. The TV was completely in the wrong place to watch. The room only saved by refurbished bathroom with a good shower. We were told that no other room was available for duration of our stay. We had to book a slot for breakfast, which we felt was more for staff convenience. The breakfast was adequate, although very limited buffet choices. The position of the hotel on the river is lovely. It is such a shame as the hotel could be so much improved.

Check in was great, room was very clean if a little tired and very hot.We phoned a few days before and made a reservation for the restaurant which was not done so we had to eat outside on the patio.They were very busy and had a wedding had run out of glasses so were given tumblers with our bottle of wine.

The bed was comfortable and had modern amenities like a flat-screen TV, fan, and Wi-Fi. The hotel's convenient location offered easy access to local attractions and transportation options. However, the facilities could use some updating. The furniture in the rooms looked outdated, and the carpet showed signs of wear. A fresh coat of paint, updated furnishings, and minor renovations would significantly improve the accommodation. The cleanliness of the communal areas could be better. There was visible dust and occasional debris in the hallways, which detracted from the experience. While my room was clean, maintaining cleanliness throughout the entire hotel would be appreciated. The breakfast service was satisfactory but needed more variety and freshness. The dining area was clean, but the breakfast spread had limited options. More diverse and higher-quality offerings would enhance the experience. In conclusion, the hotel provided a comfortable stay, and the staff were attentive. However, the facilities need to be modernised and improved cleanliness in the communal areas. The breakfast, while sufficient, could be better. With these improvements, the hotel has the potential to be a top choice for comfortable stays.

Staff excellent, cheerful, polite and always ready to help. Food good value and service prompt. Room decor rather tired and lack of decent shower a big failing.

Given the location of our room I feel that a floor plan should be shown on the website as our room overlooked the car park and was directly over main entrance and reception and if I’d known I would have chosen a different room. The room itself was clean and presentable although a bedside clock would have been useful. On a personal basis we found the quilt on the bed too heavy and the bed itself a little on the soft side. We enjoyed our dinner we had there but felt the cold breakfast choices were limited. The staff were excellent, polite, and professional and overall would stay again

It was a very suitable location to visit family . We were disappointed by the tiredness of our “superior”room , for example window had to be propped open with wooden wedge , room was extremely plain and basic .

Room was lovely and spacious and was full of character. Very comfortable. Breakfast included in price was excellent and freshly made. There was a bath but no shower. For our one night stay this was fine but would be more of an inconvenience if you’re there for longer.

The room was excellent, spacious and bathroom /shower perfect. (room 7) lovely position by the water good views Staff very helpful and cheerful But (now Older) We did miss a lift

Fantastic welcome at check-in, comfortable room, great bathroom, well laid out restaurant overlooking the river, good menu, great friendly service. What more could you ask for on your one night stopover?

For its age the property is in very good condition. The staff were very helpful and obliging. Check in and check out was very easy and quick. The food was excellent and varied. We have enjoyed our stay at the Waveney House and will certainly choose to stay there when we next visit that area again

This is an excellent, value for money hotel with friendly staff and good food, in a pleasant location. Will definitely stay again. The staff went above and beyond expectation and it had a really good old fashioned feel about it.

The room was disappointing as it had no shower. Service at dinner slow and felt forgotten. Some staff not particularly helpful. Room not worth the cost.

Only had a 1 night stay, but was made to feel very welcome. Hotel is in a great position both for the waterside and for exploring Suffolk and Norfolk

Being right on the river, as my husband is a fisherman it was his utopia! Would have liked a different menu, the Sunday lunch was great, but more choices would be nice. Desserts were a challenge!

The outstanding feature though is the situation of the restaurant with tables within a few feet of the river - always plenty of passing boats, canoeists, swans etc. The food served up is very tasty, too.

Excellent from reception to check out. Room could have been bigger for a superior room, no where to sit down. Chef very good excellent presentation and well cooked
