Excellent sized family room, in fact two rooms. Friendly service, good breakfast and a lovely garden. Some minor maintenance issues such as some bulbs out in the twin beds room and shower holder loose from the wall. Overall though very lovely place to stay. Happily would stay again.

Lovely back garden by the river. Christopher Wren staircase. A nice blend of old and new. Everyone from those at the desk to those serving meals to those tidying the rooms were SO nice.

Lady in reception was lovely and as it was a quiet time of the month she kindly gave me an upgrade. The room was spacious and warm. Nice little bar and a great space for dining and breakfast. I dined in at the hotel and the guiness pie and mash was great, although could've done with a small amount of veg. No problem with parking, lots of space. If staying in the area, I would stay here again.

From the moment we walked in, the friendly staff greeted us and treated us like one of the family. It's a beautiful hotel which was originally a school many years ago with beautiful appointed gardens and the river which is directly behind the gardens. The breakfast was fabulous with several options and an abundance of fresh fruit, cereals and yogurts to choose from. We will defiantly stay again!

The staff were very friendly & helpful and the evening menu & food was good. The Honeymoon suite was was a good size room with a nice bathroom & good shower, which is rare these days. The carpet however was a little grubby. You can hear the bar music below the room until late.

Hotel is clean although looking a bit tired in places. Rooms are clean and spacious but duvets definitely need renewing as very thin and not big enough for the beds. Breakfast was very good, plenty to choose from and large portions, even a takeaway option if you didn't want to eat in the restaurant. Overall a good stay, just the bedding issue spoilt it slightly as it was very cold when we stayed.

Breakfast was good, The staff were all very polite and friendly. The room was adequate. My main issues were with attention to detail, the stairway and carpets were dusty, the room carpet and blankets were stained. The lift was shabby.

This was a pleasant stay after having to find accommodation after a bad experience at a previous hotel The staff on arrival were welcoming and very helpful, first appearance was lovely and looked after, it was easy to find parking and to find reception I was told where to find my room and breakfast the next morning. The room on first appearance is a bit dated but it was clean. The room was comfortable and the shower was clean and pleasant. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, and again the staff were lovely , and the garden at the back where you eat breakfast was pretty to sit next to even when it was raining. Would definitely stay again and very reasonable for the price

The honeymoon suite was mostly clean. Glass shelves either side of bed were very dusty. Huge hanging cobweb in bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The shower was clean and hot. Unfortunately a huge leak from Shower door meant lots of mopping with towels. Room was cold on arrival and took some fiddling to work out the heating. The bath was dreamy lovely size and copious amounts of steaming hot water. The carpet was stained / damaged and really should be replaced it looks awful and not expected in a room of this price. The bathroom needs attention to the flooring and decoration. You can tell in it’s day the room was beautiful but it needs some love now. Towels smelt funny but were perfectly clean although dreadfully thin. Overall we enjoyed our night very much but both felt the room should be bought up to standard. Staff were lovely , friendly and polite. Would definitely return , would be thoroughly impressed to see the mentioned improvements. The view of the garden was appreciated and being so close to the river must be lovely in better weather. We didn’t use the restaurant so cannot review.

No welcome on arrival. There was very short notice of a Christmas party so the night was very loud up until 12.30am. No acknowledgment on departure. The room was full of cobwebs on the ceiling and the breakfast room was very cold. The bed and pillows were also not that comfy. Overall the hotel was very tired.

Check in was ok.booked in online which was a waste of time really. Room 24 allocated. Very tired.worn carpet.tatty bedside tables.tired bathroom. Bed wasnt comfortable and pillows like biscuits. The only saving grace was the air con ! TV remote faulty. Sat outside but not for long due to wasps . Outside also looks tired . Sat inside for dinner but this also needs refurbing. This used to be a nice hotel but needs money spending on it. At £138 I would expect better quality room

I had a lovely large clean room. What impressed me more than anything else was that every single member of staff was unfailingly helpful and cheerful. It was so noticeable. nothing was a problem nor too much trouble.....never stayed anywhere where the staff were so good.

The hotel was disappointing - no-one at reception (automated check in) and the breakfast was satisfactory but not great and failed the sausage test. The bedroom design was odd and the bedside tables were unfinished (can't upload photo). I don't think the property justifies a 4-star rating.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but check in was disappointing. In the lobby as we arrived, they had self check in set up on a computer at the desk. A staff member was nearby the desk, but never welcomed us or made eye contact as we entered the lobby, or asked if we needed assistance with anything. Finally he engaged us as we were trying to figure out how to get to our room. Our room was on the 3rd floor of the hotel. The room itself was lovely, but the weather had been very hot for days, and when we got to the room all the windows were shut, and the air conditioner was off. It took a long time for the room to be tolerable temperature wise. As they knew they'd booked the room, it would have been nice for them to have attempted to cool it down before we arrived. Other than that, all was good. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious, and the staff friendly and helpful.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but check in was disappointing. In the lobby as we arrived, they had self check in set up on a computer at the desk. A staff member was nearby the desk, but never welcomed us or made eye contact as we entered the lobby, or asked if we needed assistance with anything. Finally he engaged us as we were trying to figure out how to get to our room. Our room was on the 3rd floor of the hotel. The room itself was lovely, but the weather had been very hot for days, and when we got to the room all the windows were shut, and the air conditioner was off. It took a long time for the room to be tolerable temperature wise. As they knew they'd booked the room, it would have been nice for them to have attempted to cool it down before we arrived. Other than that, all was good. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious, and the staff friendly and helpful.

From the moment we walked in, the friendly staff greeted us and treated us like one of the family. It's a beautiful hotel which was originally a school many years ago with beautiful appointed gardens and the river which is directly behind the gardens. The breakfast was fabulous with several options and an abundance of fresh fruit, cereals and yogurts to choose from. We will defiantly stay again!

Lady in reception was lovely and as it was a quiet time of the month she kindly gave me an upgrade. The room was spacious and warm. Nice little bar and a great space for dining and breakfast. I dined in at the hotel and the guiness pie and mash was great, although could've done with a small amount of veg. No problem with parking, lots of space. If staying in the area, I would stay here again.

The hotel was disappointing - no-one at reception (automated check in) and the breakfast was satisfactory but not great and failed the sausage test. The bedroom design was odd and the bedside tables were unfinished (can't upload photo). I don't think the property justifies a 4-star rating.

Hotel is clean although looking a bit tired in places. Rooms are clean and spacious but duvets definitely need renewing as very thin and not big enough for the beds. Breakfast was very good, plenty to choose from and large portions, even a takeaway option if you didn't want to eat in the restaurant. Overall a good stay, just the bedding issue spoilt it slightly as it was very cold when we stayed.

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights at start of may .the positives were nice location , very spacious room ,powerful shower , excellent breakfast , pleasant bar area and accommodating staff. Negatives some mould on shower basin and dining room area didn’t appear to have been hoovered overnight on our last day . Overall we enjoyed our stay
