Blanco's Hotel

Very good prices for a hotel on the drinks. Room super big and comfortable.

I stopped off at Blanco’s to get some sleep, a shower and some breakfast on my way to work from London. I was really impressed with the hotel, finding it was easy and close enough to the motorway that it was convenient but far away enough that there was no problem with noise. There was ample free parking, I was able to check in at 3am which was handy as I had to travel last minute. The room was a nice big size, Smart TV which was a good size, great amount of storage. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was free and there was a good choice (and I got to have a Peach Melba yoghurt which I didn’t even know existed!). I just wish I was able to stay longer! Oh, and to top it off I was greeted by a beautiful view when I went to the car in the morning! Breathtaking view of the hills, with a beautiful old church infront. Would highly recommend and will be back for another visit in future!

Wonderful place to stay, the room was large and air-conditioning. Large bathroom and plenty of room. The breakfast was all help yourself and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. There are front and rear car parking.

The carvery was excellent, well organised and delicious.......especially the beef. Desserts were lovely and tge cheese board at half time during the rugby was just what we needed. After the rugby was a live band and they were great too. All in all, a fab stay and well do it again.

Underwhelming. No hairdryer in the room. Not a major problem. No hot water in room. More of a problem, especially when being told by reception that 'if you don't have hot water then the hotel doesn't have hot water'. There were four rooms booked by different people within a group attending a family event. No-one had a hot shower. Signage. There are no signs in the car park and limited lighting. The reception area is not obvious and there were no signs to point you in the right direction. We arrived in heavy rain and eventually found the reception. If you are a local this isn't a problem but if you were arriving late at night on your own finding yourself in a dimly lit car park with very little lighting and no signs to point the way could be quite intimidating. A problem that would be easy to solve. Heavily warn and torn carpets in public areas. I would not have wanted to have any sort of mobility issues as these were, and are, a potential hazard. The staff are friendly enough and all these mentioned problems are symptomatic of a business in need of refurbishment.

We stayed at Blanco's to attend a birthday party, the hotel I would rate as good. Unfortunately the prices are a bit heavy for the area, the room was £100. I would price it more like £80. The room had to be payable by card, no cash excepted. This may affect a return visit to Blanco's. Then there was the prices at the bar, a pint of lager is £5.95 which is on the high end, and a large wine £10.95 😲 a small wine £9.95 🤔 At that price you will have only one, then walk five minutes in any direction and find a pub which would be close to half the price. Blanco's appears to be charging Cardiff/London prices.

No lift and cold breakfast

Attended for a wedding . Check in was ok . Room had plenty of tea and coffee to use . Beds were clean and comfortable. On arrival I noticed balls of fluff on the carpet - dirty bathroom mirror and dirty sink . Lamps were dusty and shades need replacing . Wedding breakfast food was very nice . Room service breakfast today was ok but not able to have toast - no bread available. I understand the weather might have affected food deliveries however with a well stocked supermarket across the road I would not have expected my guests to go without toast . Housekeeping staff friendly and helpful . Servers and reception staff fine .

All lovely room spotless comfy bed

Will not stay here again. Cleanliness is important to me and this place lacked it very much so. Toe nail clippings on the carpet. Cobwebs by the window. Thick dust on paintwork.

Generally a feeling of poor cleanliness all over the hotel. Restaurant tables were sticky. Carpets and chairs were worn and full of spots. Buggs in my room!!! NEVER to be booked again!

Staff lovely and comfortable room, the bathroom was in need of a good scrub.

toilet not clean ,there is more to it than cleaning the bowl . Under seat was very dirty!!! Qui!t on bed -- there was only a small quilt inside cover so my side was only the cover!!! Very good breakfast . Quiet room 50 .

The location is perfect. The staff are really friendly but my only problem was how dirty the hotel room was. There was other peoples hair everywhere, in the bathroom, on the towels, on the bed sheets. The bathroom bin was so rusty and dirty. No bags provided for the bin. So i was charged because sauce dripped on the carpet. No one woke us up for breakfast, so we didnt eat anything

When we arrived there was a rugby match being shown in the lounge area on the televisions. There was a very noisy crowd which made it difficult to hear the reception staff. The bedroom was on the second floor above the noisy lounge and when the rugby finished a very loud live band started playing which we could hear in our room. The bedroom was very large and well decorated, the ensuite was clean and the towels were big and fluffy. The king-size bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful but when the scrambled egg bowl was empty I asked twice when it would be refilled,there was only white or brown sliced bread no croissants or other bread. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

Stayed in room 19 ground floor. Check in was quick and easy. The roof was spacious all clean and tidy. The only issue was the tv didn’t work. I did call reception and they brought another tv only that didn’t work either it was the Ariel. Not the hotels fault and they did try to assist. As I only stayed one night I didn’t ask to be moved. Another plus is the free car park which has plenty of room.

Heating didn’t work and by the end of the night the key card wouldn’t work on the door,no one on reception and took me about 30 mins to find someone to help me into my room

Well if you want a party hotel this is the one! Loud isn’t the word. Couldn’t even hear the receptionist when I was checking in. Room was spacious and clean. Don’t go out and try and get back in late at night tho! The COMPLETELY LOCK the front door. There is a door bell but it doesn’t work! The staff are not paying attention and with bad phone signal there it’s a mission and a half. I was out in the cold knocking on windows trying to get in for 20 mins before another guest tried getting out and finally flagged a staff member down. Shocking and completely unsafe especially totally locking a fire exit!

Booked a room was given room 40 There was a show on that night and the constant banging of the firedoors along the corridor was disturbing to say the least. A Double bed room turned out to be two single beds. Spent the night being held up by a sheet in a ravine between the two beds. Made mention of it when checking out and the receptionist apologised.

Very dated

Service and staff are very friendly. Rooms are good size. Cons: Cleaning could be better, cigarette ash next to the window when I checked in and never cleaned through my three night stay. Also air conditioned but it makes a loud noise occasionally.

We really enoyed our stay, unfortunately the only issue we had was with the bed.. when we paid for a double bed, i wasnt expecting 2 single beds pushed together.. usually that wouldn't bother me, but in this case i could feel the difference in height between the beds, which was so annoying while trying to get comfy.. other from that we had a great night👌

Cleaning, customer services, comfort, all 10/10 I stayed in room 26 for a night with my sister, we had an amazing experience. Beds are clean, bathroom shiny clean, receptionists were very helpful and polite. I told her we start work at 8am so we have to leave at 7am, we don’t have time to have breakfast she kindly ordered us egg sandwiches (our choices) to be prepared before we leave in the morning. They gave us a big breakfast pack of egg sandwiches, apples, pack of crisps, a bottle of water, and a fruit yogurt with a pack of fruit salad, all together with a cup of coffee. Considering we paid £69 for a night for two of us, we got £50 worth of food to go was absolutely shocking. I highly recommend this hotel not because we got the food pack, the service was AMAZING.

Good value for money but tired in places. On booking in receptionist was not very welcoming and it was if we were interrupting her work.

Fantastic stay. Brilliant food and atmosphere, staff are lovely and any little hiccups are sorted brilliantly.

Good location for port talbot area

My daughter and I spent four nights there in August. Really good selection of food for breakfast. Lovely good sized room. I was pleased to see the soap dispensers in the bathroom which I prefer to the little bottles left in some hotels which are never enough. Our room was only a few doors away from the main rooms where wedding receptions and parties were held every day. Amazingly we couldnt hear it in our room. I loved the location of the hotel. It is just a short walk from the town centre and the railway station which meant we didnt need to use the car. Also its only a short drive to Aberavon beach which is such a beautiful clean sandy beach. Great for families with young kids as it is not as well known as Gower or the Mumbles, but has everything a child could wish for.

Central & convenient. Room suited my mobility needs. Staff v pleasant & helpful.. However, room needs redecorating, looking rather shabby. Mark Enough hanging & drawer space. I felt that a shelf is actually needed in the bathroom for towels & sponge bags etc.

I am a diabetic and must eat regularly to stave off a possible low sugar hypo,which can result in a coma. It was just 8pm and I was told the kitchen was now closed ,even for a sandwich.

Plenty of Parking / Good Location - for what I needed / Bar was a good experience / Breakfast was a poor experience / Lack of instructions for heating, Aircon and TV / decor was tired and they seemed on occasion to be understaffed

Overall the rooms were very clean and better than some 4-5* hotels. Only downside to room was the lighting as even with all the lights on room too dim to put makeup on. There was a light out in bathroom above sink so couldn’t do my makeup in there either. The entertainment was amazing could not fault it at all really good atmosphere. However the food was not out for long so two of our party didn’t eat mains which was terrible service as maybe they could have asked as everyone ate. We went up last as we was called last. Two went to the loo and when they came back food was being taken away. So glad I stayed as the main toilets were bad and normally in other such places toilets are inspected and tidied up. Another think to look out for is that the toilets are very low down in our room and in public area. Think they’re made for junior schools. Breakfast was nice and sausages top class as I’m fussy with them. But bacon and sausages were good quality. Cannot comment on the eggs as none left so take it they were good. Good selection of cereals, juices and fruit. The staff were very helpful and friendly and lovely bar staff although a bit slow serving. Overall good basic hotel but please sort your gutters out the constant dripping was a nightmare to sleep.

The hotel was clean staff friendly.we had a roast on the sunday.with just peas and carrots as veg.so i dont like carrots so wasnt spoilt for choice.one roast potato a dish of boiled potatoes. So wasnt really a roast with out roast potatoes.so had better roast dinner and wasnt cheap with limited choice of veg .

No lift and cold breakfast

We had a lovely break in Blanco's, had a nice room, though it was sat the end of the corridor on the first floor. The breakfast were really enjoyable but some items took a while to be replenished. The chef cooked our sausage and bacon really crispy when w asked, do really nice.

The room was clean and spacious, and the bed very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and efficient. However, on two of the three nights we ate in they ran out of chicken!.Our room key had to be re-programmed every day, meaning a trip back down to reception after a day out, again very inconvenient.
