Got clobbered for £5 parking charge. It’s a service area. A car is needed to get there. Booking direct means no charge.

Beware the hidden £5 parking charge

Room was clean and comfortable. Welcome was excellent. Only negative was advertised as free parking and when I got there was told I had to pay £5 parking. 'It's new, they've just brought it in'. So was disappointed with that. Should have challenged it but was too tired, so just paid. Still being advertised as free!

Having to cross the motorway footbridge in the rain to get breakfast is a major disadvantage. Everything else is fine.

I paid for 1 night and booked my complimentary night (another saga!). At booking, the receptionist was not helpful in terms of advice regarding facilities. I had chosen this hotel due to it having EV charging. However the chargers have been moved to the services, not ideal as a lone traveller. I asked where they were and was told ‘over there’… where?? I dropped by bags in the room and headed downstairs to find out where breakfast (pre-booked) was.I was told ‘walk along the path and over the bridge’. What path, what bridge, what was the place called? I asked for details and was told I couldn’t have (what turned out to be a voucher) because you had to pay for this. She was surprised to know I’d paid. Is it not basic customer service to know what your customers have arranged? I returned to my room after charging my car and changed for bed circa 9:30pm. I wished I hadn’t as I saw, when cleaning my teeth, the former (??) occupants stubble all behind the taps. I was exhausted so didn’t have the energy to dress and request another room. The following day, I went for breakfast. This turned out to be the other side of the M5 - 0.4 mile walk away. Not exactly convenient and no reference on website. I was told I owed £5 for parking even though this was a ‘perk’ on the website. Sunday 04:54 staff were talking outside and moving wheelie bins. Really - on a Sunday. Waking residents. DO NOT BOOK. Go anywhere else. I’d give more but there are insufficient characters.

It was a place to sleep at the end of the day and was just fine for that. They mention there is a made to order breakfast but you have to walk about a quarter of a mile to get any food.

Checking in was great and the person in the desk was friendly and helpful. Please be ready to pay an extra £5 per car for parking. Breakfast is a 5 minute walk across the motorway bridge and wasn’t worth the money in all honesty. Good for the rest we needed.

Pet friendly

The staff didn’t even seem like they wanted to be there. As soon as walked in told there was a £5 charge but didn’t say what the charge was for was rushing to get checked in as four year old been in the car for over three hours and needed the toilet. No explanation as to where to go for breakfast eventually found out had to leave the premises and walk to to other side for breakfast. It’s ok as a pit stop which is basically what we used it for but don’t think would stay there again

Adequate for overnight stay. Pet friendly (extra charge) but limited excercise space. Coffee/tea in room and toaster and microwave in reception. But food has to be purchased from stores in service area. Limited choice - no pizzas and some closed early. Waitrose is small.

The room and Items inside it was not clean Couldn't use kettle, so dirty Couldn't use TV as the remote was very dirty and sticky They don't clean the room or change any towels during the time I stay there I had to go to reception to get a clean towels and toilet paper

Breakfast paid within the booking fee but was only presented vouchers for Saturday morning only which the cost paid on booking were £20! It wasn’t stated within the booking the fees paid were only for 1 sitting But the breakfast were less than £9 at the restaurant and Toast were additional cost. Bathroom bin weren’t emptied from previous occupants Breakfast condiments ( milk and coffee ) weren’t replenished

Beds aren’t particularly comfy, dated & rooms could do with a good clean

I stay in many hotel for work but this is the one I will never stay in again, bathroom stuck of urine and the rest had been cleaned with a smelly cloth. But staff are great and very helpful.

The room stank of damp. Beds uncomfortable. Mould over the ceilings. Could hear room above us. Came to have a good nights sleep before an early start at work… did not succeed

Dirty bath, mould on walls and the bedding wasn’t changed.

Average basic hotel but awfully bad smell in room where people had been smoking even duvet smelt bad really off putting when you don't smoke

Looks like room has not been updated since the 1980s. Price should be lower to reflect lack of general improvements. Same for communal areas. Otherwise just ok.

Good clean spacious room

The gentleman at reception was very nice, but when I got into my room, the windows were open. I arrived around 8 o’clock. The weather outside was 5° and the heater was very small and took like two hours to heat the room.they didn’t have any spare heaters. I’m sure that’s not a regular occurrence. The hotel is quiet and clean.

NO HOT WATER in the morning 😡

you can hear every time guests in above floor moved. Otherwise ok for 1 night.

This hotel accommodation is 'tired' and needing refurbishment! It is basic to say the least. Net curtains in the room which were too long for the window and which hung on an expanding rail! Emulsioned walls in a rather drab green and basic desk/work surfaces. Brown water came out of the hot tap on initially turning it on which was disconcerting. Finally we had to a parking fee on registratiing at the hotel to park in their car park!!! No prior warning was given.

A cheap basic room for 1 night. Sadly the room was cold, the heated towel rail was not working, and no additional pillows were available.

Room was a bit "tired", there was also an unpleasant smell in the room. Check in and out went smoothly. Car park was free.

Pleasantly surprised at how quiet this stay was, and how quick and easy check in was. Helpful approachable staff.

A convenient overnight stop. Quiet room, considering we were near the motorway. Lovely view from our room, fields. Friendly and helpful staff. Definitely use again. Thank you

Easy access from motorway and local roads. Nice view and quiet (for the room I was in, West facing and away from the motorway itself). Big room, everything fine. Very friendly helpful reception staff.

This is a very conveniently placed hotel for us to use, and one we've used many times - Which tells you everything you need to know really :) Great staff, very clean, and very comfortable beds :)

The room was ok. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The tea / coffee facilities were perfectly adequate. However there is NO restaurant in the north bound hotel. It does not explain this in any literature I saw. So I booked a breakfast. When I arrived I was told I would have to go to the hotel on the south bound side to enjoy what I had paid for. I have a brain tumour and tire very easily so was unable to do half mile walk to get my breakfast. So the £10 I paid when I booked was wasted. They should explain this in the booking literature or at the very least allow you to get a £10 refund at the hotel.

Clean room. Friendly staff. Dining options limited - only burger King, KFC and Starbucks at services

Very comfortable beds. Road noise at night minimal, considering relative nearness of motorway. Rooms adequate but had a tired 'feel' about them. Access off to local roads available (and essential!). Footbridge to 'The Good Breakfast' on the N-bound side well worth the visit.
