Rhein Hotel St. Martin

10 min walk from the central cologne station, facing Reno river and the bridge. Staff was friendly, helpful and informative. Our rooms were from range 304-310 and we had to go to 4th floor, take the first turn on the right, go down two stair lances, to find the rooms (which was odd), but the view was a great, so totally worth it. From 7 to 10 PM they offer croissant and coffee but by 9:30 am it was already over. There are plenty of breakfast options around the hotel. Rooms were small but well-arranged. Beds were comfortable, a small area for work, wifi was terrible. (Had to use my own date to make a video call work-related). Other than that, a good option if you are looking for basic comfort for a reasonable price at a great location.

My family and I stayed here for one night. We were greeted at check in by friendly staff members who provided a coupon for 10% off at the restaurant next door. Our room was spacious. We had 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom located on the 4th floor. One bedroom had a queen sized bed, mini bar, desk and a couch. The 2nd bedroom had a queen sized bed, pull out couch, desk and mini bar. Drinks in the mini bar were complimentary. My only complaint about the room is that the mattress was very firm. The parking garage that was 50% off was not easy for us to find and we ended up parking somewhere else. Many of the streets near the hotel were closed to vehicles and we decided to park near the Dom and walk. The area around the hotel had many shops and restaurants to choose from. We also walked along the Rhein. This was a nice hotel at a good price.

The staff were excellent in customer care. My husband i thought the room was excellent. There is only one thing. I booked 319 for the view, but you have to go to the fourth floor by lift and walk two floor down by a spiral stair case down to the 3rd floor. With luggage it was something i never expected. Also we took a taxi from the railway station cost 20 euros and we could not get to hotel as its for walking only. So again we had to walk with luggage part of the way. Would i stay at the hotel again yes without luggage.

Property is located at water front. Nice view, but it gave me a hart time to find this hotel by Uber. The google map shows location, only 900 meters away, but the street doesn't allow car to get in font of hotel. Also, it is too hard to walking on small stone streets with big suitcases. There are a lot steps to get in some room. Elevator only go to certain levels. No way to carry big suitcases . For travel light people, hotel is ok.

The hotel location was perfect. 10 min from the Cathedral and shops and restaurants downstairs. My only complaint was getting to our room was a little bit difficult with our luggage’s with the steep stairs.

Hotel ist sehr neu und Modern. Wir hatten Klimaanlage, einen Kühlschrank, einen kleinen Wasserkocher und eine Nespresso Maschine auf dem Zimmer. Besonders Klima und Kühlschrank kam uns sehr gelegen, weil es während unseres Aufenthalts draußen über 30°C warm war. Wir konnten dennoch bei angenehmen Temperaturen schlafen. Obwohl zentral gelegen, hört man durch die gut Abdichtenden Fenster, nichts vom Trubel. Frühstücken war aufgrund von Bauarbeiten während unseres Aufenthaltes nicht möglich, man hätte aber 2 Häuser weiter gehen können, und dort ein Frühstücksbuffet erhalten können. Als Ersatz gab es aber Kaffee und Croissants. Für uns aber nicht von Relevanz, wir haben uns einfach was von einem Bäcker geholt. Die Lage am Rhein ist traumhaft, es sind reichlich Restaurants vor der Tür. Zum Dom und Hauptbahnhof sind es etwa 10 Minuten zu Fuß. Gewöhnungsbedürftig: Das Gebäude besteht aus 2 Teilen, die aber nur im 1. und 4. OG miteinander verbunden sind. Um zu unserem Zimmer zu gelangen, welches im 3. OG lag, mussten wir mit dem Fahrstuhl ins 4. OG fahren, und dann wieder 2 Treppen runter laufen, um in unseren Gebäudeteil zu gelangen. Aber nach 2x hat man den Weg drauf. Wir würden das Hotel wieder buchen

Had a 2 night stay in family 2bed room. Great location, windows very good at keeping street noise away. Moments from all you want to see in Koln and parking available with discount about 3mins walk. Reception small but all works well and comp. Mini bar a nice touch when travelling with kids.

Koselig hotell i gammel bygning rett ved Rhinen og gamlebyen. Kort vei til Kølnerdomen og tett med spisesteder. Litt lite rom og tungvint adkomst uten heis. Passer ikke hvis man er dårlig til bens. En god del bråk fra utested rett ved hotellet, men med lukkede vinduer gikk det greit å sove likevel. God seng. Frokostsal med gratis kaffe og historiskebilder på veggen. P hus kort vei unna,

I stayed in a family suite, and there is a slight inconvenience with stairs for those with a lot of luggage.

Great location. Very close to everything and food at that restaurant was fantastic. The potato and bacon soup was amazing. 2 things I didn’t like about this property. 1: no elevator/lift to our room floor. This was incredibly annoying as we had our 2 year old with a pram and moving her when she was sleeping and luggage was not ideal. I wouldn’t stay again unless we were on a floor where there was a lift and didn’t have to go up and down stairs with a pram and very young children. 2: The pillows are not great. Better off sleeping without a pillow. Really bad pillows seem to be the theme in Europe. So fast stayed in 4 hotels and all have horrible pillows. Overall it’s a great hotel and would recommend but not to anyone with a child under 3 unless you stay on a floor where there is a lift.

When we first got into the room - it had a very bad smell. We left and when we came back, it was gone. Carpet in the room was pretty dirty and needs a good shampooing.

Lage des Hotel ist wunderbar. An allem anderen könnte man verbessern. Die Sauberkeit des Hotels war unterirdisch. Wir mussten erst mal das Bad putzen dieses war bei Ankunft nicht gereinigt. Haare im vergilbten Waschbecken,auf dem Boden Zahnpastareste und die Dusche war einfach nur eklig. Schimmel am Duschschlauch und an der Handbrause. Die Glastüren noch mit Schampoo verschmiert. Im Zimmer eine verfleckte und zerrissene Tagesdecke auf dem Bette. Alles zugesaubt. Die Kaffeemaschiene und Wasserkocher klebrig und zugestaubt. Nach der Beschwerde am nächsten Morgen, wurde das Zimmer überhaupt nicht gereinigt. Netterweise hat uns der Rezeptionist wenigstens neue Handtücher gebracht. Wir haben dann nach 2 übernachtungen nicht verlängert und sind in ein anderes Hotel. Die zugesagten 50% für das Parkhaus haben auch nicht funktioniert. Da der gegebene Barcode nicht einlösbar war. Alles sehr ärgerlich Wir hatten uns auf die guten Bewertungen verlassen. Diese kommen wohl nur zu stande durch die Aufforderungen der Rezeption seine Bewertung zu schreiben und vorzuzeigen, dann gibt es auch einen Gratis Cocktail. Bei der Abreise wurde uns erzählt viele hätten sich beschwert, und ja man müsse was ändern. Trotzdem werden wir dieses Hotel nicht mehr besuchen.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Cleanliness was great and very comfortable bed and good shower. Everything that you needed in the room! Perfect location, close to all the main sights, as well as the beautiful Rhein river and short distance from train station. Would definitely stay there again!

The room smelled horrible (smell came from the bathroom/shower) and the staff did not do much about it except spraying room spray, which helped for about 20 minutes. Room seemed cleaned but the strong smell clearly indicated that something was off. Very great location though!

Duschlippe der Dusche war defekt, wir mussten das Badezimmer danach komplett trocken wischen. Fernseher war ohne Funktion, keine Reparatur möglich. Halterung vom Föhn war nicht befestigt, dadurch lagen die Stromleitungen im Badezimmer frei.

Beds were ver uncomfortable. Close to cathedral and shops. Shower drain didn’t work enough so water just poured out from under shower and flooded bathroom and soaked half the carpet in the room. Cute place and updated but wouldn’t stay again

Sehr zentral gelegenes Hotel. Zwei Parkmöglichkeiten in ca 300 Metern Entfernung. Der Preis von 100€ pro Nacht ist für die Lage auch top. Die Mitarbeiter am Empfang waren freundlich. Das Zimmer war super klein, in jedem Fall keine 10 qm, eher 5-6 qm. An der Sauberkeit muss deutlich gearbeitet werden. Das war eine der schmuddeligsten Unterkünfte in der wir waren. Schwarzer Schimmel im Fenster, überall eine Staubschicht. Gläser mit Wasserflecken, Badezimmer auch nicht sauber. Auf den ersten Blick schien es alles ok, beim zweiten haben wir uns geekelt. Das Zimmer roch immer muffig als wir wieder kamen. Wasser lief extrem aus der Dusche beim duschen. Morgens um 7 Uhr kein warmes Wasser, Duschhandtücher hatten wir erst ab Tag drei, haben uns bis dahin mit kleinen Handtüchern abgetrocknet. Dass man für den Preis keinen Luxus erwarten kann ist uns wohl klar, jedoch ist Sauberkeit keine Frage vom Zimmerpreis. Als wir die Dinge angesprochen haben kam auch keine Entschuldigung oder der Versuch einer Wiedergutmachung. Absolut keine Empfehlung für dieses Hotel.

Beautiful decor, all amenities covered, very clean and modern but still with a touch of old feel. Great location, easy to access the hotel and nearby sights. Really like the environmental carbon footprint aspect they incorporate. The staff are super friendly, helpful and always on site. Great hotel, super happy with my stay.

The hotel was nice. The room was smaller than I thought for what I paid. But it was nice nonetheless. The things that gave it a poor rating was that the window in the room didn’t fully close and there is a bar right next to the hotel which was open till 3am and I couldn’t get any sleep, as all I could hear was people yelling and singing.

Rooms are very small, beds are situated so that one person has to climb over the other to get out of bed, not ideal in the middle of the night. We were travelling with family and our daughters bathroom was so tiny that her husband had to sit diagonally on the toilet. On the plus side, very clean, fridge in room which is always handy and hotel is situated along the river and within easy walking distance of most attractions.

Comfortable beds, nice showers and bathrooms with amenities, lovely views. Free soda and water in the rooms and great service. Loved it!

The room was clean. The breakfast and coffee were good. Some downsides: The room was small (smaller than I figured from the pictures). It was a room for two, but I would have only found the room comfortable if (a) it was just me, (b) I had only brought a small bag, and (c) if I had just used the room for sleeping. It is hard to find the space to do things like eat or work. The air conditioning did not work well. We had better results opening the window, which we could not do at night because it was too loud outside.

Staff were excellent and very helpful. Room 106 was clean but very cold. The termostat for the heating/ air conditioner did next to nothing. The other room we booked (107) was warm. All windows were left open by the cleaners one day, likely due to condensation from the room being cold. There was a "bee boop" sound going off somewhere, no idea if it was from outside the hotel or not. The towels provided were quite small but were replaced each day at least. There was one incident of our keycard for 106 not working causing mild panic after a long day. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

Lovely hotel right on the river with lots of restaurants within short walking distance. The rooms are small but very nice and the bed was comfy. Also short walk to the Cathedral.

I foolishly posted a review of how badly management handled a temporary evacuation the day before we left. When we went to checkout the next morning the manager took one look at us and bolted out to the street without a word. We asked the clerk to call a taxi for us to go to the train station - we are in our seventies with leg and back problems and didn’t want to walk the six to eight blocks of cobblestone streets, all uphill. She picked up the phone and after a minute said the taxi would be three minutes. At the time I thought it strange because I hadn’t heard her say anything but chaulked it up to an error on my part. After waiting ten minutes we asked her to call again. She walked out of earshot and used her phone, coming back and saying the cab was on the way but stuck behind a loading truck a block away. We should just walk to the taxi. So we started. Before long it was clear there were no trucks blocking roads and no taxis coming. I realized after a block that taxis were not even allowed on those streets in the old town. So we walked all the way. Just like she intended. In forty years of travel in hundreds of hotels, that is the worst treatment I have ever been subject. The hotel is fine. Service, not so much. And if you ever have an issue where you want management help, forget it.

Wonderful spot near the Rhine River. Friendly service. Extremely clean. Great shower. Lunch at restaurant excellent.

At check-in the staff indicated the credit card machine was not working. Day one no hot water in the entire hotel. At check out day two. My credit card was denied and the staff indicated he did no know why. He asked for cash payment and refused to provide a receipt. Another person I was traveling with went through the same process, but when the staff was told they didn’t have cash for payment, suddenly their credit card machine worked and accepted payment. Very deceptive business practice.

Underwhelmed. Staff were abrupt. Not considered good value for money

I made the reservation approximately 4–5 months before our stay. In the reservation notes, I requested a baby cot for our child. When we arrived at the hotel, we found that there was no baby cot in the room. I asked the receptionist again, and I was told that the staff would bring it by the evening. When we returned to the hotel in the evening, the baby cot had still not been delivered. When I asked the receptionist again, I was told that they would not be able to help us. As a result, we had to sleep in the same bed with our two-year-old child, and during the night our child was repeatedly at risk of falling out of the bed. The next day, after requesting again, a baby cot was finally provided. However, no suitable bedding or linen was supplied for the cot, so we had to place our own blanket inside it. Consequently, we spent the night without proper bedding and felt cold. In addition, the room we were assigned was not accessible with a stroller. There was no ramp even at the hotel entrance. We had to carry the stroller constantly. The only positive aspect of the hotel is its proximity to the Christmas markets.

This is the second but last time I stay at this hotel. First of all, we had to wait 15 minutes at 7:30pm on Monday evening for someone to come to the reception and do the check in. We had 6 rooms, each for 2 nights and paid around 370 Euros per room per night. Still, the rooms and bathrooms were barely cleaned, the rooms were not tidied up after the night (pics attached) and one of the guest requested that no one enters his room during the day found that his request was not kept. When we complained, there was practically no response other than “will report it”. As of now, 15 hours after checking out, I still have not received my invoice by email. Service is extremely poor and this hotel is not to be recommended.

Dishonest and unreliable. No hot water. Was offered a discount, which i accepted. They said they would process it later in the day when i checked out. That was a week ago, and no refund has been received. Property has stopped communicating with me.

Our family if 5 arrived in Cologne after a 20 hour nightmare travel situation on 3 planes and a train in which the airline lost our bags. Hassan at the front desk was a light in a storm, making us feel welcome. His colleague ( I am so sorry I forgot her name! She’s great! Red-ish hair, glasses, super helpful!) immediately got a map and helped us find a place to buy clothes and toiletries. We were able to get clothing and pjs and had a wonderful stay at the Rhein Hotel St. Martin. The beds were super comfortable, the room was spotless, the attention to detail was wonderful and we had a great stay! And the Christmas markets are fantastic!!

This hotel is in a great location. Property is well maintained and the beds are comfortable. Quick walk to restaurants, the cathedral and the chocolate museum.

At first, we were concerned about the parking. But it was about a block and a half walking to the waterfront property. You could enjoy a beer on the way!

Great location near to the cathedral, train station and chocolate museum. It is near the Rhein as well. It sits above an eatery which can be distracting on the weekend if people party there late.

Small but well appointed room. Firm bed. Very small bathroom with an interesting shower. The streets surrounding the hotel are cobblestone, so it made walking there with roller luggage a bit difficult. The hotel is along the river with lots of dining options nearby. Very close to Cologne Cathedral. The area around the hotel felt safe.

The hotel is right by the river and in the walkable old town area of the city. We were able to walk to most of the landmarks easily. Had a great time in Köln

Perfect location in old city and overlooking the Rhein. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby and close to all main attractions. Quiet and comfortable rooms.

Friendly service. The room meets the needs. Excellent location. Breakfast is a point of contention. There is a free option which leaves something to be desired, and another paid option at a nearby establishment.

We loved our stay at the Rhein Hotel. Rooms are gorgeous and the location is amazing, it’s right on the River. There’s a restaurant and bar under the hotel which is great. It’s very close to the city centre and there lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance. The main train station is a 10 minute walk. A lovely buffet breakfast is offered two doors down at the Lowenbrau hotel. An extensive range of hot and cold food. We would definitely stay again.

Das Hotel kann ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Die Lage ist natürlich TOP, man geht aus der Tür und ist sofort an der Rheinpromenade und vom Hbf geht man keine 10 Minuten. Erwähnenswert ist auch, dass trotz Buchung ohne Verpflegung bis 10.00 für jeden Gast Kaffee, Obst und kleine Gebäckteilchen zur Verfügung stehen.

Nice Hotel in a top location. Very quiet rooms. Complimentary coffee and croissants are a nice touch for first thing in the morning.

Was not a fan of how we had to get to our room. The elevator didn't go to our room so we had to ride the elevator to the floor below go thru a hallway and had to climb some stairs with our luggage up to our room. The breakfast buffet could have offered more. There were only pastries, fruit and coffee. More choices would have been nice.

Bedroom did get warm but air-con fixed this. Mattress a little soft and bathroom floor gets very wet when showering

We had booked 2 rooms at the same price in the same class of room and they were very different- one much bigger than the other and one with a tablet and one without. We spoke to reception and he said not to worry they are the same class of room! But that is not the point - one room was clearly better than the other and they should NOT be in the same class or the same price. Neither room looked anything like the photos on the website either! The bed was comfortable, the pillows were not, the shower awkward and was impossible not to get the whole bathroom floor wet. The windows were not sound proof and as the location was excellent with lots of bars around - it was noisy! The buffet breakfast was not a buffet breakfast! There was a coffee machine that was good - but a couple of pastries left out in a very hot room with no cover were not good.
