Overall, a pleasant stay whilst in town on business. Pool and gym are very useful and adequate. Customer service is as expected. Wifi signal is poor and requires major revision, barely working at the best of times. Expect to hot spot from your phone, with your phone on the window cill if you need to work from your room. The bed is super comfy, great nights sleep! Bathroom is a tad battered and decor is dated however shower is brilliant and absolutely makes up for the cracked tiles. Ceilings in areas are peeling with plaster skim visible in various locations. Ceiling in pool requires attention with paint flaking from the metal roof framework and underside of roof. TVs have HDMI inputs for connectivity which is a major bonus if you have a console or firestick.

The hotel has a lovely drive and gardens as you approach. The hotel bedrooms are very dated and worn, we had to have our room moved due to a constant buzzing noise from hotel kitchen. Staff are lovely but until the hotel was refurbished we would not stay again. Worn carpets, curtains and broken tiles in the bathroom in both of the rooms we tried. Corridors also need some new decoration. The food was OK, we ate in the bar area as the dinning room looked a lonely place with only 1 other table eating. Breakfast was nice. Spa was OK, we did not stay long in the pool as there was a kids swimming lesson on and with the roped off area it was too busy to properly swim. Sauna was good but the steam room lacked steam. Easy to park.

Every member of staff we met was fantastic, warm friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. The dinner menu wasn’t great and was very overpriced for what you got and the taste didn’t quite match up to the prices. Beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel and excellent treatments in the spa

nice easy check in staff was nice arrive half hour early room was ready big room very clean ..food was nice ..pool was good for a swim the only thing the steam room needs a good clean .but over all good 👌

The pool, gym and spa areas are ok... if the changing room rather dated... very dated. The rest of the hotel predates... everything... very, very tired hotel, just about keeping it together. Food was average at best and breakfast has some strange arrangements with most edible things charged additionally, no coffee machine and a possible cappuccino in about 15 mins for £4 does not sound the best start to the day. There's no drama, no enjoyment either, but the 10/10 reviews I had read before do not sound genuine.

Victorian decor nice large room. Slightly tired looking. Use of pool, sauna and steam room was very nice. All of the staff were amazing.

Poor view from room over roof. Bed side light did not work. Beds were 2 singles pushed together. Leisure facilities good, sauna excellent and breakfast was very good-individually cooked. The staff member we had was very friendly. Despite being freezing outside room was warm.

Spa was superb with lovely staff too. The swimming pool was a great temperature but some lockers were difficult to use. Loved the sauna and steam rooms. The staff in the hotel were superb and friendly. Enjoyed our stay thank you

Check in was poor, no information provided about breakfast, restaurants or anything other than the room number! No staff to help with luggage. The website said afternoon tea was available but when we returned to reception to ask she said she didn’t know if there was any food available (4.30pm) and advised us to go to the restaurant. The restaurant was empty, not a single member of staff to be found. Waited ten minutes then gave up and left the hotel to eat. Room was fine, dated but comfortable enough and the pool is nice, but bathroom in the room needs a good clean, plus broken plug and the showers at the pool are poor. Overall this hotel is absolutely not 4 stars and I’m shocked it has this rating. I’d consider it 2 stars

Nice hotel and great spa/pool. Remote and I'd recommend a taxi into town for supplies essential. Breakfast only served up to 9.30 (sharp). Bacon roll would be 13 quid as they charge an £8 tray charge for a £5 roll. Free bus shuttle running for the Ukraine's who stay for free. £13 for a cheese sandwich with side salad. Didn't order anything but loved the pool. Would stay again but I'd bring plenty supplies. Local restaurants deliver and there is a great choice in town. Japanese and nepalise restaurants are out of this world. One of the receptionists was a wee bit rude and had little information to share "I'm not from here!" Perhaps not but you are being paid to provide a service so get yourself clued up as holiday makers do tend to ask silly questions. Apologies for interrupting your busy day..... Everyone else fell over themselves to assist and help (with a smile)

Very disappointed. Room was old and tired. Wallpaper was coming off ceiling and wall. Electrical outlet didn’t work. Shower was old and had black mold.

The hotel room had clearly not been cleaned properly. Stank of cigarettes, dirty teaspoon and a half arsed effort at making bed. Mattress exposed at the top end and bed linen didnt smell fresh. Against our better judgement we decided to eat in the bar. Stench of sink. The over priced food was appaling. Would definitely not return!

Had a lovely relaxing stay here - breakfast was very good, swimming pool facilities very good. Housekeeping could do with a bit of a shake up I think, room quite dusty but it was clean, and teas and coffees were not refilled each day. However, very nice hotel and will definitely be back.

Some of the staff were not friendly and welcoming. There were black moulds in the room windows and bathroom areas. The floor was not cleaned and bins not emptied on the second day.

Bedding in room was dirty. Floor in room not cleaned. Bathroom had mould around bath. Top of wardrobe full of dust. Asked managed to change bed matress protecter and all he would say. We dont have any housekeepers as al gone home.

The place is very good except the bedrooms are tired looking they need a good indepth clean also had to go for tea bag the biscuits was limited. The staff were lovely and very helpful but also didn't have a children menu lucky my grandchild eats anything, so she could have lunch. Overall we had a lovely time. Thanks

The room given to me was dirty cobwebs in the bathroom poor room and dirty.

What I like is it's traditional style, genuine old building and the area around property which was nicely manicured but the management terrible. The cleanliness inexistent, I had to request at reception to clean the room as you could see dirt all over the bathroom. They cleaned only the toilet, nothing else. Next day the cleaning crew came, took all our towels, no replacement left. If you suffer from dust allergy, don't go there, it will flare up your allergy. I wish the problem to be only the dust but I even spotted dried sperm on the walls. The reception team was so not interested in the end I had to go to buy a Dettol to clean again everywhere. Also the check in was delayed 2 hour, nobody apologised for this. I'm wondering if it's a cultural thing, nobody smiles, says hi or apologises... So unpolite... Such a pity because the property and the area around is so beautiful.

Hotel is a bit tired, room wasn’t great. Booked a king but was put in a room with 2 singles together which wasn’t great. Tv didn’t work and toilet wasn’t the most reliable. Put in a room 107 where the view was shocking bad facing a roof and wall. Spa is good and staff were really friendly. Probably wouldn’t stay again and would look elsewhere

Hotel rooms looked dated, my room overlooked the HVAC for the kitchens and was very noisy. Really hot day and couldn't open the windows due to the hum of the HVAC. Asked if I could move rooms and was told they were full.

Very dated Hotel and rooms. Extremely noisy lift that made a loud buzzing/humming sound (avoid room 107), made worse by a Wedding with loud music that went on until the early hours. Steam room was barely working and no water fountain available in the pool/spa area.

The hotel is a little bit tired and in need of some TLC. The rooms don’t have enough plugs where they are needed and the windows need replacing. The dinner menu was lovely but a little pricey. Breakfast was lovely though. We were also put in a disabled room which was strange. The bathroom sink was so low.

Great hotel stay for a night after a week of working away. Hotel is lovely, large, clean and boasts a lovely bar and breakfast area. Staff were helpful. Nice pool though not too big. Highlight of the hotel is its beautiful, comfortable, cost, well decorated rooms. I loved my room and the entire layout and slept well as it was so quiet thanks to an added set of doors that leads via suite entrance into the bedroom.

Felt a little dated. Double room was two single beds pushed together so keep splitting during the night making it hard to stay comfortable/asleep. Wifi was weak in my room and disconnected frequently. Sink was slow to drain. Overall, perfectly fine for staying for work in the area and the facilities of the hotel are of a high standard, but the rooms aren't as comfortable as a more modern hotel

The hotel is desperately in need of updating, overall wasnt a great stay for me as a regular business traveller, rooms have no AC/Fans or sufficient 3pin plug points, they have some very old 3pin tiny plugs which are only useful for their appliances. Wifi was weak and unstable so couldn’t work while at the hotel, phone signal is weak so struggled to use my own hotspot. Staff are friendly but I think they are understaffed in many areas notably reception was left unmanned for nearly 30mins around check out time so was a queue of us waiting to check out subsequently made us late for our onward journeys.

Where do I start, firstly we did not get to stay here as upon arrival we were told that the hotel was double booked and they did not have a room for us to stay in, even though we received confirmation each day up to arrival, and on the day of arrival, the staff were useless, they booked us into a budget hotel down the road, well this is what we were told, only to find out the next day it was in fact a different hotel, we were booked into the hotel for 2 nights for a friends wedding which was taking place at the hotel, this totally ruined our weekend it was very stressful and upsetting, we then found out that the hotel has a contract with British Gas and that their engineers get priority over PAYING GUESTS, this is the worst service at any hotel I have ever encountered, no Manager available to talk too, all on days off apparently ! The room we were given on the first night was awful, it had a strong smell of glue, the curtains were are the tracks and it had no TV, they then moved us to a suite, this was no better, this hotel is in dire need of a makeover it is old and tired would not recommend staying here if it was the last hotel on earth !!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Lovely big room with two comfortable armchairs. Very quiet, despite the fact that there was a wedding reception elsewhere in the hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good.

Booked 2 nights separately for a wedding, when booking in we were advised we did not have a room for the second night ie the wedding day, as they had overbooked by 10 rooms. All managers were off for the 2 days, no one had contacted us, yet we'd booked months ago and they left it with the poor girl at reception to resolve. The room for the first night, that we were given smelled strongly of glue or silicon and had no TV. We complained and were given a so called suit, the picture below is the view from the suit. We were told sorry, we'll put you in the 4 star holiday inn for the second night ie wedding and that they would pay for any taxi's and give us a bottle of wine. Whoopee. The next day I checked the 4 star holiday inn has been booked to be advised your now in the 3 star Ramada, but we'll still pay for your taxi's (how nice). We have not had time to use the spar facilities as we have either been in strong debates with reception or with each as we travelled hours to get here only to be thoroughly disappointed. Mcdonald's hotels you should be embarrassed, the whole thing is a joke including the management (or lack of it) in this hotel.

Hotel overall was nice. We found service in the bar very slow as only one member of staff serving. Breakfast time very disappointing. Queued for 20 minutes to be seated. Tables not cleared. Had to ask for juice glasses, tea and toast. Long wait, had to ask again. Very little hot food available at 9.30am even tho this was the time we booked. Food not replenished, other people after us had no hot food at all. When I say 'hot' food, it was barely warm. Lots of guests complaining about the service both at the bar and at breakfast. All the staff are young with no senior presence to guide them? For a Mcdonald hotel 4 star we expected it to be better on these points. Pool area was nice and relaxing and we enjoyed using the facilities which was a bonus. Our overall opinion is that if improvements were made on the breakfast and on the staffing side, this hotel would be worthy of its 4 stars.

I booked 2 rooms 1 of which hadn’t even been cleaned towels on the bathroom floor bed not made diner plates on the side the other where the bed hadn’t been made properly with the mattress protector bunched up in the middle bit lumpy on the first night until I investigated and made the bed properly then the door key looked me out little bit annoying. The staff were outstanding though and such a lovely house they just need new maids that do the job with a bit of pride.

Fantastic stay, got caught there during the storm and staff couldn’t have done anymore, made sure we were comfortable , happy, feed and watered, they were wonderful. Also keeping us updated on weather situations as they arose.

Awful room very unhappy. Bedding crumpled lights in bathroom and also bedroom didn’t work. Women up by bin men at 6am. No info in room re price of breakfast or timings. Wrong towels left. Tv not working barman came to room to fix it was set for PlayStation so that’s why it wouldn’t work. Not a restful stay at all. Was told manager would speak to me re this complaint it’s now 5 days and they have not returned my all.

Nice staff, good food and location. relaxing break not far from the city. Air con in the rooms would have been a plus.

Suprising location peaceful and calm . A bit outside the main hub but i liked that . Restaurant staff friendly and helpful. Overall good value for money better than the so called budget alternatives. Definitely worth a weekend especially using my points. 👍

A fantastic location for access to Glasgow or Edinburgh assuming you don’t mind driving. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable, the pool was warm. The only issue we had was a later than expected checkin as the room was not ready, however we could still use the leisure facilities which helped entertain the kids while we waited.

To new comers visiting Glasgow, should you wish to stay here take into account how are you getting into the city centre to visit all spots. By bus this hotel is 1hour and half away and by car about 30 minutes. My stay was okay. It was great the initial night and I was honestly not going to bring up any issues however, here’s a quick overview of what happened. Firstly, there was either a malfunction with the fire alarm or someone was an idiot in the rooms and set off the whole system. On our last night our windows were left open therefore a bird entered our room and basically shat everywhere. The hotel staff were kind to offer us a second room however, this room was much smaller and the quality was completely downgraded. No hot shower and when went downstairs to complain. We were offered 50% refund. Come next morning(today) we were given less than 50% of our refund as we were 7 minutes late. Nothing communicated just told the amount. The amount of inconvenience caused surely they would let us go for being 7 minutes late? Anyway, the place is great and the restaurant has a really good selection of food. We did like the wings and sweet potatoe fried so give that a go.

We arrived at the lovely spa hotel for winter vacations and loved the site, location, access to amenities yet being slightly tucked away in peaceful surroundings. Staff is an absolute pleasure here, from reception to spa , leisure and pool facilites, to restaurant staff and even the cheerful chef who is a regular at the work out gym, everyone seemed so friendly , helpful and accomodating. With a tiny baby on board, the restaurant staff were excellent even when we got late for breakfast. Hotel is slightly dated in regards to carpeting etc but it retains its character and the lounge by the reception is a delight to enjoy a good book with a drink or coffee. Gym, Leisure centre and pool are a five star attraction here, large , great equipment and never too busy. Toilet seemed the only downside with equipment needing an upgrade. Shower leaked so had to be very carefully pointed so it wouldnt flood the floor, and the toilet water pressure was less than optimal too. But overall, one excellent stay and we thank everyone for making it so good for us.

The approach to the hotel is gorgeous The rooms felt rather dated but did the job. The bathroom was a generous size though i am not sure the extractor fan was working. On our first night there we tried visiting the pool an hour before closing.. it was disappointing that there were no members of staff at the pool reception though we did see swimmers. The hotel reception staff were unable to locate the pool staff. We did however manage to get a swim and sauna session in the following evening. Restaurant menu seemed limited so we did not eat at the hotel. There was a local shopping center, about 10 mins drive away that had a generous collection of stores and dining options.

Lovely parkland surroundings and a very nice place to stay

Stayed here for 1 night on business after reading it was a 4 star hotel. The hotel is quite dated but the size of the room was the best part. I decided to have the breakfast the next day and walked into the restaurant and placed my order which was confirmed back to me. At this point there was only 4 people in the restaurant. I was brought out some tea & toast within 5 minutes. Half an hour later I was wondering where our breakfasts was and as I turned around a staff member was coming to our table with the breakfasts. Straight away I noticed there was items missing from the breakfast. I told the staff member who then went and got the lady who took our order. She told us what we had ordered and we said that’s correct and then said well what’s wrong then. We said there’s items missing off both plates from the order you read out. First she said we didn’t order them and when we pointed out the items were part of the full breakfast she agreed after showing her the menu. No apology at all was given and just walked off. Within minutes returned with the breakfasts and everything was stone cold. It seems that when we ordered our food was probably plated and just left there for half an hour. I’ve read reviews about this hotel since our visit and I absolutely can believe a lot of the comments & issues that people have had. I will never stay in this hotel again. If people do stay here then there is an excellent restaurant around the corner called Carrigans. Fresh cooked food that is hot!

Hotel was nice. Booked on Half Board but not advised neither at check in or in the restaurant that their was a £30 limit for evening meal . I asked if the venison on the menu was included and was told yes, then advised I have an additional bill to pay!

After a long day travelling they closed the kitchen at 20:25 and no room service although the room menu stated 9:30 last order. I had find the local chippy in east Kilbride not great when the night had the lowest temperature of the year at -6oc eat before you arrive. Their lose I went out again the second night I travell a lot and spend £60 a night this two night stay zero with them £50 with local restaurants.....

I stayed at the Macdonald Crutherland twice over two weeks and i was not impressed. The WiFi in the room was terrible and prevented me from being able to do some work in the room. The food at the bar was a disgrace!! I got a pizza for £14 which was possibly a £1 Iceland pizza!! Surely any chef worth their salt would refuse to put that out, they must be bought in and out in a freezer and served at a ridiculous price for what they are. The staff are all very nice and hardworking, but the hotel itself is very tired and I would imagine being run down and eventually sold for development. It’s certainly not a 4* hotel and I wouldn’t stay here again!

Drinks from bar are very expensive, the evening menu was limited and also expensive I ordered fish masala at £22 slightly bigger than a fish finger

Booked a last minute break for over the Christmas period. Loved every minute of my stay. Staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly and found time for short chats with this solo traveller. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and prompt in addressing any specific dietary requirements. Well done team. Bar menu was limited but food freshly made. The gym, pool, sauna etc were open to guests on Christmas Day, this is not the norm at other hotels I’ve stayed at over Christmas. Very enjoyable and relaxing stay.
