A really lovely, comfortable hotel in a great location. The spa is just what's needed, reception staff very helpful, room very comfortable. Breakfast on Saturday morning was a little bit chaotic, perhaps due to lack of staff, but the staff were still very polite and helpful. A very relaxing stay

We had an evening in the hotel and went to Bass Rock bar for dinner and drinks and it was the most disorganised chaos that I’ve ever seen in a bar, the bar was completely covered in empty glasses, staff were running around like headless chickens, there were plenty of employees but no one seemed to know what to do, service was poor and slow and on two occasions got our order wrong and we also had to send the cocktails back as they weren’t made properly. Really chaotic and not the stand you expect from the Marine. Very disappointing

North Berwick being a golfers paradise for Scottish Links golf was amazing. Accent that with an amazingly striking and gorgeous hotel set of the Golf Digest # 11 course in the world just makes it that much better. From the moment we first walked in taking the breathtaking main room, to the stunning bar area. The rooms are old world classic feeling. The sunsets and sunrises from our course and water facing room literally could not be beat and the ability to walk through the back gate straight onto the course and out to the beach was perfect. The only criticism I can offer, for such an over the top experience both hotel and golf wise, the bathrooms and cleanliness could use some work. The bathrooms are dated (and not in a good way) and without going into full detail was not the cleanest by a pretty good margin. That being said, staff from the minute I called to the moment that we left went above and beyond. Amazing and memorable stay and trip to say the least. Thank you Marine hotel for helping put the wife's 40th celebration over the top.

Hotel lobby and bar area is really nice. Lovely decorated, clean and amazing views. The lawn area at back also lovely to sit and have a drink in the sun. Bedroom area was ok - grand looking, spacious and comfortable bed but bathroom in the room could go with an upgrade (looks old). Throughout the hotel lots of paint chipped, and our friends who were in another room (which was meant to be an upgrade) had cracked window. Feels like some areas of hotel are really nice, whilst others really need some TLC/an upgrade. Can’t comment on what the spa is like as we never went. The service in bar area is very slow, and when compare to other hotels I’ve stayed at in Scotland, certainly isn’t at the level I would expect. Breakfast very basic too - limited continental options, and the hot dishes weren’t anything to shout about. The avocado and toast I had, was poor presentation, a bit bland and on very basic bread (no nice bakery sourdough that you normally get in 4/5 star hotels). For the money we paid hotel definitely doesn’t have a wow factor about it. Final point, drinks are very expensive - £25 for one glass of mirival rose (you can buy a bottle in supermarket for £18 - hotel will purchase even cheaper at a trade price too) so the margin they are making is lot
