Easy to find and drive to. The cottage we stayed in was well proportioned and with everything provided including washing up liquid and clothes airer. (Washing machine, dishwasher, oven, cooker hob, fridge were also available and everything worked well) Cottages were clean and beds were comfy. The resort facilities were well maintained, although the lockers were a little temperamental. All staff we spoke to on the phone and in person, we're great. Only small issues we had were the first night where the water boiler kept on stopping and starting all night. We learned to turn off the pump so that we could get a good sleep. Reception managed to double-book the tennis courts, so we were left feeling mortified when a club member came and was upset that she had booked the court on the web/app (she was very gracious and allowed us to stay on while her party used one of the two courts they had booked).

Great setup for any golfer, or someone who wants a spa, sauna, swimming pool in a quiet location... Great staff all the way through from Reception to the Restaurants & Bars, and great encouragement from the team in the Pro Shop. Will return ASAP!

Spa felt a little out dated and felt like a swimming pool. Not a spa retreat, if I paid for a spa retreat I would have been unhappy. Stream room very basic… as an example. Parking not enough space must have been an event on. Staff very friendly food was amazing golf course very good but slow on kernow course and effected game

Cottage was lovely and had everything one needed. Would definitely recommend for family’s. Floor was not very clean unfortunately. Check in and out were excellent. Staff were extremely welcoming especially during my check in, and Tina from the Spa Treatment team. I had a full body massage and she was excellent, and would highly recommended this treatment by her. I booked another massage with Tina the next day. Thank you and this break plus treatment, spa facilities and gym were fantastic. Only criticism was jacuzzi button hard to switch on if you suffer from weak wrists. Changing rooms were great, just the guest lockers were not operating properly so left items unlocked for the times we used it. It would have been nice to have shampoo and conditioner in showers, there was only body wash. Great to have ghd dryer and ghd straighteners in changing rooms. Overall I would recommend and beautiful grounds

Booked to stay as we were attending a show Plymouth in the evening. Great location and easy to get to. Facilities are very good and despite arriving early, we were (as guests) use the spa facilities so we had a swim! Our room was spacious and very clean. Loved the King sized bed which was very comfy. Room was very quiet. Breakfast was included in our booking and provided a wide range of options including a waffle maker! The staff we interacted with from the reception team, the dining room staff and the housekeeping team were polite and engaging. The only thing I would say is that in the main areas it is looking a bit tired and could do with a bit of facelift (main thoroughfare carpets etc) but overall, highly recommended if visiting Plymouth or if you like golf!

Looking at recent reviews I agree this hotel has sadly gone downhill. Unfriendly receptionist. No smile on arrival. I felt most unwelcome. She asked for my credit card to put on account. I said I wouldn’t be having any room service. She said it was just in case there was any damage. I’ve never had this when I’ve checked in any hotel before! I’d also like to point out that I’ve never caused and damage in any hotel in my life! Tired looking corridors with stained carpet throughout. First room, had an empty bottle of wine and half a glass of wine on side. Not sure if this room had been cleaned before I went in. I went back to reception and spoke to another (far more friendly lady) who put me in another room. This room needed a good look at! The toilet hadn’t been flushed! Broken window handle, filthy bathroom grouting, and the corners of the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. See photos. I had to call reception while in my room but they couldn’t hear me. Phone obviously broken. So had to call them from my phone. Not really a problem but slightly annoying. If I were you, request a room that isn’t on the ground floor as there is no phone reception. Also there was a slight damp smell too. They have put a plug in air freshener in the room but it didn’t really make any difference. The view from the window is a load of leaves, a path, and mud. There is WiFi but it isn’t the best. Stayed here before & all good, but certainly won’t be hurrying back!

The structure of the hotel building is very tired. Green mildew on most exterior surfaces. Carpeting throughout looks very worn and underlying structure of corridors creak and groan when walked over. Condition of bedrooms good, but balconies suffer mildew problems.

Absolutely perfect stay until the morning we left. There was no hot water at all so no one in the hotel could have bath /shower. Felt it was dealt with very slowly still not fixed when we checked out at 11am. Not much of an apology from front of house.

The room looked nice but had issues. One size fits all solid pillows which were too low for 1 and too high with 2. The shower never got hot and after maintenance came, we were told that it is health and safety (although the spa showers were a good temperature). All the floorboards were squeeky. One side light wouldn't point downwards (later fixed by maintenance) and the other turned off and on randomly.

Room was basic but clean. Bathroom floor was collapsing and bath sinking into the ground. Felt like I was going to crash through the floor into the basement. Reported to reception for corrective action. Water was only luke warm for the bath too.

The lodge was nice and there was plenty of room for our family. We noticed when we arrived that there was a lot of litter outside of the lodge, debris from Christmas Crackers etc. The cleanliness of the cutlery, glasses and crockery wasn’t great so we washed everything before using it. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the leisure facilities were great after a day of hiking on Dartmoor

.Staff were so friendly and the overall place was lovely. Pool and sauna were great! Our room was 333 and we felt a bit like we were shoved into the room furthest away possible as we booked via hotel.com and got a good deal, so were given the end room. The bathtub was all cracked and bodged repair. The tiles were run down and the bathroom and room needed some tlc. The king bed isnt properly as its 2 singles which kept getting a gap in the middle. Over all good but room could be better

I used to stay here regularly between 2000 - 2009 and it was lovely. This last visit I noticed it was all a bit tired, the carpets along the hallways were fraying, the beds were lumpy and it appears they use mattress toppers instead of new mattresses. The staff were miserable too. I didn’t eat there, as locals had said the food offering was not very good.

The setting and pool and sauna areas are good and room had a lovely view overlooking the golf course and cute ducks right outside in the lake!. Food was very nice and good options at average prices. We were a little disappointed with our room as it was a bit tired and needed some repairs (bath seal coming away, furniture a bit dated, carpets a little worn and very creaky floorboards for some reason!). Also the bed was extremely hard. Would say that this is an ideal place to stay if you enjoy golf and a spa. Would be better to stay on the upper floors as the view would be nicer as on the lower ground, people can walk past and it is not as private.

Lovely setting, great pool and spa area, restaurant ok but what really let it down for me was the temperature of the room. I booked here as rooms were advertised as having air conditioning but it is either faulty, ineffective or badly maintained because the room remained hot and stuffy all night. I was given a ground floor room which meant I couldn’t even open the door to let in some air. Really disappointing as if I’d been able to get a good nights sleep then this would easily be 5 star review.

The room was the issue for us the bed was like a brick and really uncomfortable the pillows weren’t great the floor boards Creaked in every part of the room So if you were going to the bathroom in the night, you’d wake up the person you were with. The shower wasn’t great it was powerful but tiny and you weren’t able to move it so if you didn’t wanna wash your hair then good luck because they don’t provide shower caps Our room was also very far from the Bars, restaurants, spa and reception. The facilities is overall were okay but only for the day I wouldn’t recommend staying in this hotel. We didn’t use the golf course as we came for the spa so I’m unable to comment on that but we did have a balcony view and that was beautiful. however on the balconies, there was A very low glass fence between the other rooms so it’s very easy to climb over and into someone else’s room which is a worry and absolutely no privacy when sat on the balcony, you could see other people sat six rooms away.

Looking at recent reviews I agree this hotel has sadly gone downhill. Unfriendly receptionist. No smile on arrival. I felt most unwelcome. She asked for my credit card to put on account. I said I wouldn’t be having any room service. She said it was just in case there was any damage. I’ve never had this when I’ve checked in any hotel before! I’d also like to point out that I’ve never caused and damage in any hotel in my life! Tired looking corridors with stained carpet throughout. First room, had an empty bottle of wine and half a glass of wine on side. Not sure if this room had been cleaned before I went in. I went back to reception and spoke to another (far more friendly lady) who put me in another room. This room needed a good look at! The toilet hadn’t been flushed! Broken window handle, filthy bathroom grouting, and the corners of the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. See photos. I had to call reception while in my room but they couldn’t hear me. Phone obviously broken. So had to call them from my phone. Not really a problem but slightly annoying. If I were you, request a room that isn’t on the ground floor as there is no phone reception. Also there was a slight damp smell too. They have put a plug in air freshener in the room but it didn’t really make any difference. The view from the window is a load of leaves, a path, and mud. There is WiFi but it isn’t the best. Stayed here before & all good, but certainly won’t be hurrying back!

There was one great receptionist during our stay (evening lady). However some of the others ranged from nonchalant to rude. Surprisingly hotel receptionists "dont book guest taxis", were rude to my friends at check-in and not very helpful on various other matters. The luggage room smelt. Saturday breakfast service was lacking: cutlery, food, service. Yes we did get there 15min before end of service, as did a lot of other guests, but theyd run out of food a long time before this and werent proactive in helping all the guests get a decent breakfast during service time. Hotel room showers didnt maintain temperature and occasionally and randonly scolded you. We booked into the Sunday carvery and again, service was lacking. Lack of staff mostly; we had to wait over 30mins before we could get the carvery food even though we had booked, as the chef wasnt available. Seemed guests were an inconvenience. However, swimming pool/spa was very nixe and great showers. Carvery food was lovely once we got it. Beds were comfortable, although room would have benefitted from a fridge.

I enjoyed my brief stay at St Mellion’s. The staff were welcoming and the hotel was clean and tastefully decorated for the festive period. The bed was huge and the bathroom had plenty of towels and handwash/shower gel etc. Although there weren’t many gluten free options on the restaurant menu, the staff were helpful and made me a GF steak and chips which was perfectly cooked. The cooked breakfast was all GF and a very generous portion. I would definitely stay again.

Also when a dish ran out, we had to ask for it to be refilled. A large cereal selection but no sign of the nations favourite cereal, Weetabix, but 16 packets of CocoPops, none of which were eaten by any customer during our stay. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful and did their best to allow us to check in earlier even though it might not have been possible. The bar and dining staff were also fabulous and friendly, everyone did their upmost to be accommodating. We had 3 evening main meals, we were a little disappointed with one meal but that’s perhaps because of the standard of the others. The steak was cooked to perfection, super salad was soo tasty. Breakfast was excellent, you could help yourself to whatever you wanted from the buffet style self service breakfast, have as much as you want and order poached/fried eggs cooked fresh and served to your table and once again the service was spot on. We struggled to park at first, there is no guaranteed parking for hotel residents. The bed was super comfy and the room was large and clean with blackout curtains. If you stay here the spa / pool is also highly recommended and available to use while you wait to check in if you arrive early with large changing rooms, plenty of showers and also hair straighteners. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay even though we are not golfers.

Have stayed before at this hotel , Reception staff were superb very friendly and helpful. Didn’t use the restaurant on this occasion as I arrived later than I would normally. Whilst the room was ok it was a bit tired and needs to have a bit of a freshen up especially in the bathroom.

Booked to stay as we were attending a show Plymouth in the evening. Great location and easy to get to. Facilities are very good and despite arriving early, we were (as guests) use the spa facilities so we had a swim! Our room was spacious and very clean. Loved the King sized bed which was very comfy. Room was very quiet. Breakfast was included in our booking and provided a wide range of options including a waffle maker! The staff we interacted with from the reception team, the dining room staff and the housekeeping team were polite and engaging. The only thing I would say is that in the main areas it is looking a bit tired and could do with a bit of facelift (main thoroughfare carpets etc) but overall, highly recommended if visiting Plymouth or if you like golf!

Room was clean enough, could do with a little more attention to the nitty gritty areas within the room and regular cleaning throughout the day when golfers return. Unfortunately the hotel was nothing special, could have got exactly the same in a premier inn for alot less. Dining options were limited, especially for breakfast. The hotel is lovely. Big and spacious rooms and the view of the course in the signature room is great. The hotel is clean and tidy. The spa and gym are excellent and very clean. The food isn’t good and the restaurant lets the hotel down. This is the 2nd time we we stayed here and the food wasn’t good both times. Breakfast is always cold and the menu for dinner is boring and the food very bland and tasteless. The drinks are very expensive, it costs £6.50 for a pint of cider! The pillows are hard, on the 2nd day we asked if we could have some soft pillows as we woke up with severe back and neck ache. They said no, so we went out and spent £35 on pillows to ensure we didn’t wake up another day with severe upper back and neck ache. I would stay again but would take my own pillow and eat elsewhere.

We were told after our stay that there should have been robes in our room however, we did not have them and we had a small issue with our evening meal which was resolved promptly and professionally. When it came to breakfast, there was loads to choose from including a cooked buffet, pancakes, cereal, etc. However, I recommend getting there before 9:30am as there was not a lot left. All in all, our stay at St Mellion was very good.

Always a comfortable stay and views across the golf course are scenic. For us visiting families , it's an ideal position. The bar is quite boisterous at times with large groups of golfers meeting up before and after tournaments, but of course it is a busy golf centre. The facilities at the health spa are excellent swimming pools and changing facilities are spacious.
