Externally impressive and nice grounds. Rooms were dirty and dusty. We stayed in Chatsworth and the wardrobe and side tables were very dusty, plus all the doors and doorframes needed a solid clean. Found a pair of sunglasses and some other kit underneath the bed from previous occupants. A thorough room clean plus wiping down the walls of curious stains would be good. Bar area - tables need a thorough clean - they are streaky and sticky with cleaning fluid. A pint is £7.50 and it is not lined with gold. Breakfast is served via hot plates and staff are slow to restock the food served so if you want a full English it may take a while. Wouldn’t return here. Nice on the outside but needs a serious deep clean.

On arrival the gentleman that checked us in was very pleasant and helpful, as were the bar and restaurant staff. Honestly they were all just brilliant. We booked an executive room with a lake view, the lake was not in sight, only thing we saw was the bared wire boundary fence. The room was falling to bits, toilet roll holder would not hold a toilet roll, walls had holes in and wall paper missing. At night we were greeted with moths which pestered us most of the night. Room had very little lighting, presumably so you could not fully see the state it was in. No glasses in the room to poor water in to.

Staff lovely and food nice. Room and bed very small. Room could have been cleaner especially window frames a d corners. Bathroom ceiling allowed rainwater to drip through, quite a lot, all night. Only discovered this when I got up in the night and slipped on the wet bathroom floor, banging my head and shoulder. Put a bath towel on the floor but the continual dripping kept me awake. Our friends were also staying and without asking there were no ramps for his wheelchair inside.
