Fantastic location and lovely hotel with great staff, only downsides where the spa pool wasn’t relaxing due to when we used the pool it had kids playing with water guns and splashing around, So wouldn’t say it is a Spa hotel to relax in and treatments where over priced. Plus bar is cashless

Really good stay at the lakeside. Pool and spa facilities are excellent and dinner in the main restaurant was brilliant. very talented Chef. The cooked breakfast served was consistently great each day. Convenient locations with lovely walks of High Dam and gorgeous view from our room. We stayed for 4 nights. Only thing that could be improved is that the pool/ spa facilities should be open longer as they are closed at 7pm so there is not much to do in the dark evenings. Some of the staff there seemed quite inexperienced and overwhelmed at times.

Spa was just what was needed

Great pool area with changing room being refurbished as we were there. Friendly helpful staff. Great location and food. Love the breakfast options like smoked salmon and haddock.

A very nice hotel and room with aview. The Swimming pool and Sauna were good. We did not use the Gym which lacked some resistance equipment. On 2 days we had to call up to have the room sorted either a problem with the door label or having a schedule that did not match. We ran out of shower Gel (The container was opaque but must have been nearly empty when we arrived). There was a bath but no dispenser at bath level. The chairs and seat were too low for the table and dressing table. It would have been useful to have smaller (and cheaper) bar snacks or tapas in the evening as being rainy we mostly ate our main meal out at midday. Despite all these mainly management problems we did enjoy our stay and everyone was friendly and helpful. lks

The spa facilities were excellent.

We had an overnight stop here with teenage grandchildren. The hotel is beautifully situated on Windermere with lovely well-tended gardens and seating areas, which were appreciated on a hot day. Our grandchildren loved the pool and the fact that we were given a suite in which they had their own large bedroom. Breakfast was excellent. The only headache was not knowing where to stop and park on check-in. Parking for hotel guests is beyond the aquarium.

We had a lovely stay at the Lakeside Hotel and Spa, on the whole the hotel was clean and well presented although the windows and window frames needed a good clean inside and out. We found the food to be very good and the staff were all pleasant. The pool area was fabulous.

Liked the lakeside location. Whilst our room was lovely: clean and very comfortable, some of the window sills around the hotel were rather dirty and had dead flies on them. The staff were very helpful and friendly at all times. The food was good, however the cooked breakfast took a long time to be ready: about 20 minutes.

Every aspect of the hotel was great. The location, building and presentation. Staff were fantastic, Lake View room was a treat and offered a very large double comfortable bed. The only down point was that our room was not serviced following our first night stay. Although reception was informed during the afternoon the room did not get serviced or towels changed. Spoke to house keeping next day and again by 3pm the housekeeping staff had disappeared and the room was not serviced. Complained at Reception and room was eventually serviced !

The rooms were not to the standard for a 4star hotel the rooms were not cleaned properly the towels and the bathrobe had stains the bathroom fan was not working though we had mentioned to the reception and they never came back to us .The room smelt of damp.

No housekeeping service done despite 4 follow ups and two visits to front desk. No water replenishment, towels, tea or milk despite booking and paying for a suite. No one picked up housekeeping phone. The hotel manager was distinguished by his absence. Complete apathy.

Breakfast and spa was good but our room was very dusty and crumbs hadn’t been cleaned.

Overall we had a excellent time. All staff very friendly,attentive and helpful. Food was excellent in the restraunt in the evening, as was breakfast... with lots of variety, and quality of food was of a very high standard. We had a family room which was lovely and clean and very spacious & comfortable. Only negative id say is that the room is probably due an upgrade as the bathroom was starting to look a little tired. Id definitely recommend and we will certainly stay again.

The hotel itself is in a lovely idyllic location on the lake Windermere (lakeside) Very picturesque. The grounds are well maintained. The restaurant food was excellent and staff were very accommodating. The only downside was stains on the carpet in the bedroom and chipped furniture ,bathroom radiator was very rusty and marks on the walls definitely think the room needs to be freshly painted . Asked for extra teas and coffee milk from the reception in the evening but didn’t receive them was very disappointed and for the price we paid £294.00 per night we expected the room to be perfect. Hotel is very dated. The level of cleanliness is not good at all. Not good value for money. The location and views are the best thing about the hotel.

The rooms are run down and in need of updating, our room was not as clean as I’d have hoped to see.

Loved the view of the lake from our room. Breakfast was freshly made, lots of choices. Our room was a bit dated and in need of modernisation, but was clean and spacious .

The hotel has a great location at the end of the lake beside the aquarium and the steam train. The room had a good view and the gardens are a nice place to sit if the weather is fine. The room was okay, but no real opening windows, no, balcony doors, it felt a little claustrophobic. The food was a letdown – high price for terrible wine, food just about average and took forever to be served with really disorganised service. Restaurant staff seem like they were on their first job out of school and had really no idea about serving quality food. Prices reasonable for the grade of hotel, but the service let it down

Nice hotel. Lots of renovation and work being done to the property. Thoughtful approach to communial areas. Room was big with lovely view but no fridge or air con. A fan was on offer but this was noisy. Staff clearly all had roles within the hotel. Cleaners were very polite and friendly. Other staff seemed to be fixed within their roles and a little flexibility might have been useful - twice at breakfast and once in the evening people were waiting to be seated with waiting staff appearing to be available but the 'host' unavailable. I think this would be an easy fix with bar and serving staff just commenting to waiting guests 'hello, somene will be with you soon'. When the staff were undertaking their roles they were polite and helpful.

Great stay overall but due to no air conditioning available in the rooms, the heat was unbearable in the hot weather. A small fan was in the room but didn't make too much difference. The room was nice but could've done with modernising more like having plugs near the bed with USBs in and more modern decor. Beautiful location and breakfast was lovely.

All stafff were amazing. Lovely and clean a lovely hotel My only issues are the bed slipped away from the wall when you got in it and the tv was small ,

Great hotel, great location,good service and food. lovely room with Lake view. Only negative was that the bedroom curtains were shabby and in need of replacing.

Lovely hotel, had a nice weekend. Room was spacious and comfortable. Shower powerful. Beds comfy. Was surprised there was no fridge or toiletries, only a wall pump shampoo. Walls are paper thin, thankfully other guests mostly considerate but could even hear noses being blown from next door! Food at brasserie was hit and miss, and the shoutng from the kitchen was odd and unpleasent. As another table commented, it was like being in McDonalds... Surroundings and social areas were lovely, duck feed was nice touch, breakfast was very nice. Would return but some really easy to fix things would make the hotel even better

This was a lovely stay in a beautiful location with access to boat rides and steam train. From here we visited Keswick, Ambleside and other towns in the Lake District including a must visit to Beatrix Potter’s house Hilltop. The hotel itself does feel a bit dated. The hotel room lacks the usual facilities of a four star hotel like no air con, no fridge and limited plug sockets. The hotel provided us with a plug adapter and fridge upon request ( for medication storage) which was incredibly helpful. The staff were mostly lovely but there was a lack of good management and attention to guests. I think this was due to chaotic arrangements rather than staff not caring. For example the restaurant (brasserie) had food left all over the floor under our table. Also we had soda put in our Pimms, and had to wait half an hour for someone to locate a bottle of vodka for our drinks!! Better management would mean a better stocked bar!! The staff outside at the Bluebird van were exemplary and very helpful. Shame that I got snapped at by a member of staff (bald head and beard!) when I asked when the van would open as I would like to order tea. I was clearly an inconvenience! Upon checkout I found the monies for our stay had been taken from my card before. Check Out which annoyed me and for which I received an apology. The lifts didn’t work when we arrived so that was difficult too. Overall though I would recommend a stay here. It’s a lovely view, simply beautiful.

Beautiful location. Room size good. But for the cost of the room i expected better. Our room was old and in need of refurb. Wallpaper was peeling and there was mould and watermarks. Bed was on a downward slope at the head of bed. No air con but there was a fan. No room fridge so you couldnt keep any water cold. Stay came with breakfast which was good. We ate at both restaurants during our stay. Limited menu and very expensive.

Can't fault the hotel for cleanliness and facilities, breakfast service yet again was very poor waited 1 hour for full breakfast run out of coffee too due to so long

Tv in rooms was not working so had no tv at night was annoying . Receptionist women was a bit stuck up not very customer orientated

Terrible attitude from barman when I returned a cloudy pint of beer, he poured me an alternative and tried to charge me for it! When the manager arrived to sort it out he told the barman to give me the exchanged beer, upon which he handed it over and said enjoy your FREE PINT. I was surprised when the manager just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. This is not the sort of behaviour I expect from such a beautiful hotel, I was very disappointed

What truly sets this hotel apart is its unique access to both the steam train and boats, offering convenient and scenic journeys to Bowness or a leisurely tour around the lake itself. Our dining experience on the first night was a pleasure. The food was well-cooked, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast each morning offered a plentiful selection, ensuring a great start to the day. Beyond the beautiful setting and delicious food, the hotel boasts excellent facilities. The games room, swimming pool, gym, and spa provide ample opportunities for relaxation and recreation. Overall, the Lakeside Hotel & Spa offers a truly memorable experience. The combination of its prime location, convenient transport links, friendly service, and excellent amenities makes it a destination I would wholeheartedly recommend and definitely plan to return to.

We loved the history of the property. Our booking was very last minute since we were let down by another hotel. The Lakeside Hotel and Spa is very clean, you can feel the warmth when you walk into the property. Overall it was a good experience. The one thing i did noticed is you have to book your table for dinner every night otherwise you end up without a sit-in dinning. And we ended up skipping dessert a few times because as soon as the restaurants got busy it would take nearly 40minutes to get someone’s attention either for the dessert menu or the bill, i think personally think they may be short staffed? Not sure. But the staff in general are very good and nice people. We would definitely come back for another visit soon.

Stayed here a few times and it is really beautiful inside and out. The bar and restaurant staff are the only reason the fifth star is missing. Nothing is explained in the restaurant with regards to menus and the service is slow. They also often forget orders or get them wrong and that seems to be consistent throughout the whole of the waiting staff. Reception staff are good and friendly but again don’t explain the bill at the end of the stay. So I’ll let you know now when in the restaurant, the food and drinks are charged separately on your final invoice. The room was great my kids and dog loved it and the pool is lovely and relaxing. Overall a great stay and I will be returning many more times hopefully.

When we arrived on Saturday we weren’t impressed. Reception staff were not particularly welcoming and the hotel in general seemed to be chaos. Tables full of empty glasses, tables that needed clearing and basically badly understaffed for a sunny summers evening. We had to raise a couple of issues at reception and I was particularly annoyed by staff rolling their eyes at my wife for this. Our room was nice but way too hot. But, all the staff in the restaurant that evening were excellent and the food was great. Next morning the staff at breakfast were also excellent and the rest of our stay was faultless apart from housekeeping missing our room completely the next day. Things got better as time went by and we would definitely visit again. Lovely hotel, excellent location and overall all the staff are lovely. But, front desk team need some training. Overall very good after a poor start.

Just got back from 3 nights at the Lakeside Hotel. Beautiful hotel and the scenery Lakeside is amazing. So peaceful and so nice to retreat to after a day in places like Bowness. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. A perfect trip and we will be back.

Lovely location.

A lovely quiet part of the Lake District, which makes for a relaxing holiday. Great views of the lake, which can be enjoyed from the conservatory and gardens.

I booked this very quickly by just searching Google for "Lake District hotels" one evening and I was very pleased. It is expensive, but it is a 4* hotel, so you would expect to pay a higher price than others. We found the staff brilliant and the room fantastic, although we did get a free upgrade on arrival which was nice, so I can't comment on the room we actually booked! The location is perfect, lovely views and really convienient for the Lake Cruises next door. We did not use the Spa, but did use the sauna and pool, which were great. We only used the Brasserie for the evening meals, and we liked the meals so much, we had the same both nights! (Fish and Chips and the Lakeside Burger) Breakfast was more than enough, with so many choices and great service from the staff. It is an old hotel, but that should not put people off, whilst they are doing lots of renovation, it did not ruin or disturb our time there (I think there was work taking place but we didn't see or hear anything). Our room had old photos on the wall and you can see it has been an established hotel for many years. We chatted to a few other guests and they were all very complimentary about the place. A couple of staff that we remember that were very friendly and we chatted to, were David (at breakfast) and Sheya (I think that was her name in the Brasserie) but there were others and all were really nice. if you want a authentic period (modernised) hotel that fits the "lake district" vibe, book it!

The hotel is in a great position, right by the lake. Plenty of areas to sit out weather permitting. Staff are friendly and helpful as well as being efficient. Near by some of the attractions of the area i.e. boats and steam train. Would definitely visit again.

Fantastic location. The ferry terminal is a few minutes walk away, giving you easy access to all of lake Windermere.

Our room was great - clean, with a separate lounge and a view of the lake. We found that it was not always obvious how to order a drink as staff could be difficult to find at times. We ate in the Brasserie Restaurant and wouldn’t do that again - for a hotel in such a stunning location, we were put in a narrow room with wooden panelled walls and served a meal that was really quite costly given the environment. However, we loved the breakfast.

The dinner menu choice in both restaurants is poor and the standard of the dishes only average. The breakfast however is very good

Great location near the lakeside boat stop and lovely views. Parking was included and not too far away. Staff were always friendly and the hotel had some nice touches like a kids goody bag, duck food and the pool area. My only issues were that the lift was unreliable which made a difference to us with older relatives and the evening food options were limited and pretty expensive. I would probably stay again though as overall it was very positive.

Overall it was an excellent couple of days. The only issue we had was with the evening meal which was overpriced for the quality and portion sizes. The breakfasts were great but would not eat there otherwise.

Premises/ room and maintenance was of a good standard. Spa facilities were excellent and ladies providing treatments extremely friendly and accommodating Breakfast was excellent and plentiful with friendly staff however evening meal in the brasserie was of a poor standard. The food choice was poor and tasteless with more batter on the fish than fish itself and the rest was not value for money. As other restaurants were not close by we had no alternative but to drive out to eat elsewhere a lost revenue opportunity for the hotel in all other ways a lovely holiday.

Been staying here since 2006 but not been since 2021. Disappointed that hotel not the luxury it once was, mainly because the dining wasn't very good now. Breakfast was good but not as good as before- no freshly squeezed orange juice & menu limited - no eggs royale, eggs florentine nor kippers etc. In the evening we had the same menu every night in the restaurant-food was good but variety would have been better. e had meals in the bar too & that menu stayed the same. Most disappointingly of all was when the Brasserie opened at the weekend, but instead of the lovely menu formerly offered this time it was the same old bar menu served in a different area!
