The hotel was aesthetically pleasing, with a modern feel. The dining options are more limited than stated, with only one casual to fine dining option (some people wore trainers while others were in high heels). The other restaurant was closed, and the third unavailable due to wind, which limited our choice and budget. Surrounding the hotel are mainly pubs for a casual experience. There are spa treatments but no spa in the sense of swimming pool, or sauna. And the room was lovely, everything you needed for a pleasant stay. The double bed was small, which we liked, but may not be to everyone's tastes.

Wasn’t informed spa was closed I wouldn’t of stayed there if I knew bar prices are far too pricey as well

3rd time staying here and standards haven't slipped. Super friendly and attentive staff, great decor/vibe, comfortable stylish rooms with all you need. My 1 criticism would be that drinks are very expensive.

I have been staying in this hotel for the last 15 months and I can honestly say it is one of the best hotels I've stayed in the UK. Its always very clean and good amenities, the food is delicious, good treadmills with a decent gym but, I do think there does need to be dumbbells up to 20kg and the price of a pint is a bit steep but it is a lovely setting. Special thanks to Corey, Debbie, Liam, Max and Mark for everything they did for me while staying at the hotel and if I am ever back in the area then I know where I'll be staying. All the best to you all too.

Nice hotel but heating in room is controlled by under floor system and it just didn’t work. Room cold. Also if you are going to advertise a gym and then try to charge £10 to use then tell people in advance. The gym is very average too.

Drain was partially blocked in shower. Clearly an ongoing issue as there was pre existing water damage to floor and skirting. £10 for a limited gym is very excessive, there is a hotel chain that offers masses top range equipment with pool/sauna facilities at £5. WiFi login a little laborious. Room was very clean and comfortable. Food was nice and restaurant decor/set up is fantastic. Staff was exceptional, impeccably well presented, refreshing to see people taking such pride and professionalism in their work

First of all we had paid for our room in total. Only to be asked at check in for £50per night which was £100. Just incase. We thought that was out of order. Got to our room very dusty, shower was limescaled and not very clean. The bathroom ceiling had black marks all over, the door did not lockThere was a fan in the room that was broken,the window only opened a couple of inches. It was very hot in the room. First morning we weren't told where breakfast was. First day tea and coffee flowing. Day we were leaving no orange juice,no tea and coffee on tap as the first day. Not enough staff there were 2 to cover breakfast which wasn't even close to enough. Would not recommend and will not return. Check in and out staff were off no welcome. When we checked out we told there was an outstanding payment of £20.00 we asked what for she said we had 2 extra breakfasts which we did not.so didn't have to pay. We would get the money we paid 100.00 back in 3-5 days.

I have to point out at the outset that the staff at this property were excellent, attentive and very professional. However, this property is probably letdown by the state the old part of the hotel is in. The room window had mould, wouldn't open and some of the lights didn't work. The bathroom had very basic toiletries. Despite the festive decorations, the hotel looked tired and worn-out. We were booked in for the New Year's weekend as well as into one of the NYE gala dinner which was lovely. Breakfast was good. Sarah at the front desk tried her best to enquire after us and made sure we were ok. I sincerely commend the staff. Sadly due to the unattractiveness of the property I won't be visiting again.

we were there for a friends wedding which was lovely. The setting etc is great. However our room was dirty, clearly hadnt been hoovered as biscuit crumbs all over the floor and the bathroom needs a clean the mirror, floor and shower had quite a bit of mildew / mould nothing a bit of bleach and a scrub wouldnt sort.

I was in the older part of the hotel, the floors creak and the décor is out dated, the fan in the bathroom was so noisy I had to turn it off and that was after I mentioned it to reception, my stay was four days and the towels and bed linen were not changed, one of the days the room was not even visited by housekeeping, also one of the small complementary bottles of shower gel had been watered down.

Extremely disappointed with my room. It was in really poor condition. Broken pain in the window. Black mould around windows and curtains hanging off. Being an adult in a tiny single room I expected much better.

I arrived to find dirty underwear in the bed, suggesting the sheets hadn’t been changed. I took them down to reception, and shortly after discovered a human tooth on the bedside table—clearly left behind by a previous guest. That was particularly unsettling. To their credit, the staff responded quickly and moved me to another room. However, when I returned from work around 5:30pm, I found the room hadn’t been cleaned. Another issue worth noting: rooms on the top floor were sitting at 27 degrees with no air conditioning, which made things quite uncomfortable. Quite frankly, I’d expect a refund in good faith. The rooms aren’t cheap, and the whole experience was a bit gross. I had originally considered booking this hotel for my team due to its location near our worksite, but after this, I’ll likely be looking at alternatives.

Had a lovely stay for a friends wedding reception. Both my husband & I commented on how all the staff were so polite & friendly. Our room was spacious & comfortable. Getting ready for some decorating in the bathroom. Paint work around the sink taps, a loose bathroom door handle & the grout in the shower needs cleaning/redoing. Found a few hairs the shower tray on arrival. Our breakfast was nice. I'm coeliac & the waitress was helpful in finding out what was gluten. It would be nice to have gluten free toast & a separate toaster & /or have some gluten free muffins. Lots of choice for ordinary diets but little choice for Coeliacs. Overall we enjoyed our stay & we would recommend, could be perfect with a few tweaks 😊

The staff were lovely, helpful, visible and polite. The food was great for the 50% off which it was that day. The restaurant, reception and room no complaints at all. The only thing I could say to improve would be the stairwell to the rooms wasn’t hoovered and didn’t look like it had been for a while. The carpet was also ripped in a couple of places.

Lovely hotel but couldn’t sleep at all as there was no air conditioning just a fan the room blowing hot air around! it was 32degrees in the room(only 18degrees outside) the window only opened a teeny tiny bit! Just very disappointing as let’s face it, you pay to stay at a hotel for somewhere to sleep and if you can’t do that it’s pointless We had a 2 night stay booked and had to make other arrangements for the second night!

It was okay thought it would have been triple glazed to block out the noise all night slept next to an airport with less noise

Lot of noise from the wedding below. Room far too hot, someone in our party asked about it and was told it was set at that and couldn’t change. I took a cold shower before trying to sleep. Not the best overnighted I’ve ever had.

Overall the stay was very good. Reception staff were friendly and extremely helpful in sorting out an issue. The bar/restaurant staff equally as friendly and helpful sorting out a couple of requests. The bar prices did seem quite excessive though. It’s actually slightly cheaper in central London at the tourist hotspots than at your bar. I stayed for a wedding so naturally the bar was going to be visited several times. I felt a little taken back with the bar prices. It took the edge off what could have been a perfect stay. A few other guests at the wedding did make comment on how expensive the bar was too. The window on our room only opened a small amount. I understand this is for safety but I feel it could have opened a little more for some fresh air. The window blind didn’t block out enough light in the morning for me. Could really do with some curtains as backup. The temp settings on the AC controls were confusing. Only could set 7, 8 or 9 degrees. The room itself was very nice and comfortable. I stay in a lot of hotels for business and don’t often see a TV as big as our room at Wildes Inns. So that is a positive. Bathroom very modern and clean also. Lots of mirrors and sockets around the room, that’s a big positive for me.

Check in quick and easy. Suite spacious and clean. Breakfast lovely.

Stayed here on many occasions for work, this occasion the attention to detail poor. Not able to get into restaurant to eat for dinner, requested toiletries for room that never arrived, and billed £100 more than should have been - corrected when challenged, however had to request invoice to view before paying. Beautifully aesthetic hotel, service and communication needs addressed!!

We really enjoyed our stay. The only issue was the long wait every time we went to reception. The one receptionist was constantly caught up on long reservation query calls. The hotel needs to free up the receptionist to take care of exisiting guests!

Nice place but let down by poor attention to detail. Arrived early evening after a long journey to check in for our two night stay and was greeted on arrival by a pleasant chap called Liam. He informed us that they had closed its restaurant for dinner sittings after a "maintenance issue" for the past few days. As it goes we had plans locally elsewhere but if we hadn't, we would have neen very upset that they hadn't told us about this issue prior to arrival. We had booked a suite for 4 of us and Liam gave us our keys and off we went to freshen up and relax. Upon entering the room though it was clear the room had been set up for 3 not 4. There were 3 towels, 3 biscuits, and a tiny bottle of shower gel which wouldn't have been enough for 2 never mind 4! I tried calling reception and housekeeping but got no answer from either. I therefore went downstairs to find out if we could get another towel and inform them of their mistake. Liam admitted it was their mistake and promised he would deliver us some more supplies. He brought a towel , shower gel and some tea, coffee sachets and bottle of water within an hour. We were then out all day the following day arriving back at about 11.30pm. upon entering the room again Housekeeping had apparently set our room up for 3 and not 4 so again we were missing towels, water, biscuits and the shower gel had not been left at all for our second night! A complaint to the night porter was made and again he apologised but poor attn to detail.

Reception was great, staff welcoming. Downside was the breakfast service staff who were not focussed on delivering the correct breakfast or reacting to “Service” being shouted from the kitchen.

Staff we’re very rude and ruined my stay

Receptionist Sarah was amazing so friendly, knowledgeable on the area, you can tell she loves her job and made us feel very welcomed. Bar staff and restaurant staff were great, breakfast was well cooked. Overall brilliant stay will be back again :)

Some of the serving staff were unhelpful and a little haughty but the front desk staff were superb. One young hotel manager named Conor was outstanding, he was most helpful, polite and only too glad to help. I can’t rate him too highly. Most impressed. Also the night manager when I needed help at 3.30am, sadly I didn’t get his name though. All in all a lovely hotel and a lovely stay.

The staff were really lovely, the rooms were nice and well looked after. Good place to bounce to the peak district from as its only an hour away by drive.

Dan, the young man at Reception, was very pleasant and extremely helpful. Our room was very nice, quiet and comfortable. All areas of the hotel were very clean and nicely decorated. The food we had at the wedding reception and breakfast, the following day, was beautiful....our compliments to the chef etc. All round, a great stay. Thank you all.

Wildes is a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, they couldn’t do enough for us. Beautiful room, lovely food and all that you would want from a hotel. Good price too! We were visiting the local area and it was perfect, easy access from the M1, we went to local places, I golfed and my Wife went to Meadowhall. Will definitely use again on the next trip.

We are repeat visitors to Wildes Derbyshire and love it. Perfectly placed to head on into the Peak District and Sheffield but far enough away to not command the crazy prices. Beautiful hotel with modern but cosy interiors thay give you a sense of luxury. Food is fab. I always come away feeling like we have treated ourselves but without having broken the bank.

The property was convenient as a base to go sightseeing, the restaurant was really easy for evening meal. The staff at reception and dining room very helpful and tried to help accommodate our requests noting one person was elderly and disabled. I thought I had book a hotel that was accessible , I rung hotel from AU prior to arrival , The team tried to help us as best that they could. unfortunately our first room was up a flight of stairs without lift access, there was a step into bathroom. This was hard for disabled person having to use crutches to walk. Reception helped by moving us to the new part of the building with a lift on our 2nd night unfortunately the shower was over a bath no grab rails disabled person could not use. The room was very far away from the lift also difficult for a person with limited mobility. On discussion about concerns , we were offered a room with a shower but it meant there was only a double bed. I had requested twin rooms because I was travelling with an elderly parent. The disable parking was not near the entry points also difficult for a person with Mobility issues. Overall, it’s a nice place to stay but for a person with Mobility issues it may not be the right place to stay.

Breakfast let it down. Waited for plates, then had to wait around for hot breakfast items to be restocked. Once these arrived other items on plates had gone cold.

Attended a works Christmas party!..stay in hotel over night. Room was fabulous and the party went well Food was of a really good quality, over all experience was enjoyable one, only negative was the bar was on the expensive side!….need to review your drinks prices

Restaurant was good for dinner, but limited options for vegetarian at breakfast. Nice decor, gym good. Our main issue was the bedroom which was far too hot with no air con. Whilst some staff were very helpful some of the young staff were disengaged.

Lovely hotel, nice clean rooms with comfy bed. Reception smells incredible. Good parking. All the staff were extremely professional and welcoming. Ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent with a good choice. Robot waiter a nice touch. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and happy to recommend

We had a nice stay at Widness Inn. The staff were welcoming, warm and friendly. The total decor is good; however, a couple of things prevent me from giving this a 5-star review. My meal was not good. My dish was over-salted, almost inedible. If I had been in a different company, I would have sent it back. The people dining with me made similar negative comments about their food. The upstairs corridors to the rooms are poorly lit. At breakfast, there was only a choice of small plates as large plates had run out. It's a shame, as everything else was fine.

Hotel was amazing Sadly the service in the restaurant was slow and I felt forgotten. I even had to ask if my dinner was coming at all and was told that it was taking a long time as it was a whole chicken breast! 50 minutes- then the guy brights it and everything was all the same temp & HOT - felt like it had been forgotten, left on the pass - gone cold and they stuck the whole thing under a HOT grill to warm it up - plate and chicken with the same temperature. And the robot server with blinking eyes and whiskers is annoying/daft! I would stay again because the food is good when it comes - just need to pick up on the speed of service

Overall the stay was good but did find for a two night stay there was insufficient supplies of milk and coffee in the room and breakfast was a little haphazard with toaster taking ages and having to wait for items of breakfast to be replenished.

The rooms at this hotel are spacious and clean, the only issue it how long it takes to run a bath. Reception staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was OK. Dinner was not up to it's usual standard with very slow service. A small burger in a massif bun and "skin on fries", potatoes should be peeled

Nice room and facilities. The food in the dining room was quite poor. I ordered beef bourguignon which was a tasteless mashed up almost minced beef ball. The breakfast was absolutely disgusting service poor -shown to a table which had just been cleaned so went to get food (self service) and when I got back someone else sat at the table. There were no eggs or beans in the trays and had to wait around 10 mins for this by which time bacon and hash browns cold. I asked for some gluten free toast which when arrived was hardly toasted at all and was soft in the middle. Tried to get orange juice - no glasses available. Overall a very poor food service.
