Can’t complain for the price! Basic and clean getaway, nice to have access to pool and sauna too although not all facilities working the whole time. Staff friendly.

We arrived at our booking The Wiltshire Hotel, Golf and Leisure Resort after driving 2 and 1/2 hours and what a disappointment. Photos are very misleading on the website . We had to leave immediately . The room is very dated the base of the beds are grotty. The swimming pool area is a building site feels unsafe. The TV in the room fell over when my little boy walked passed it was balancing against the stand as it had broken. Could have been a lot worse if it had landed on him. I can’t believe what we have just witnessed really. I tried to cancel and was told that I would have to wait until Tuesday to get a refund. I now have to look around the area on a busy bank holiday weekend to look for a hotel. We wanted a pool for the little one and won’t get that or even a room anywhere. We may have to go home. Ruining our weekend. So disappointed. This hotel shouldn’t have been on the website as a choice. There are holes in the floor upstairs covered in rotten carpet felt so unsafe. The hotel is not fit for purpose so please can you refund us the stay we never had. Unfortunately we didn’t stay around to take photos. Awful just awful.

Poor service, half of the facilities not available, poor room.

Reasonably priced hotel. Rooms of a good standard in a lovely setting on a golf course. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Leisure facilities were spotless and woefully underused, which is a shame. Evening meal was really good.

The property should not have been advertised on Expedia. It was dirty , run down and poorly represented. Half the facilities were closed and what was open was filthy.

Staff were attentive and facilities were very good. Parking was easy and location was ideal.

The hotel was tired and is in need of some updating. General areas were not as clean as we would have liked although the rooms were on the whole acceptable. TV didn't work, cob webs around the windows but the bed and bathroom areas were OK The area around the swimming pool had broken and raised tiles and the ladies changing room had no shower facilities We didn't eat at the hotel and we didn't see anyone else eating there either I hope the hotel is due for some modernisation as the setting is lovely and views out over the golf club could be a real asset I can't see us booking to stay again

Could/ should be a top place to stay. Sadly, it is tired with the owners paying minimal attention to the place. The staff made it fab, but the lack of food choices in the restaurant and the cheaper ingredients etc were disappointing. Pool lovely, not always heated. There seems to be a catch 22 of not providing a high standard so it lost favour or it lost favour and dropped its expenditure. This should be 4/5 star. The door says 3 star, but currently more a 2 star

The pool was nice .but oveasly their is work on updating the spar area.

Staff were friendly, but the room was very dated. The reception has a painted concrete floor which is a terrible first impression everything is worn and dated. The pool was nice and having work done to it the gym looked really fresh and new. changing rooms were grotty and dated . Didnt eat here I went out as I was the only one in the restaurant travelling for work solo. I will be looking elsewhere when I stay in the area in future.

The room smelt damp, tv remote missing backing and didnt work well at all. And the shower was luke warm at best

Hotel itself is in a lovely location and decent size. The gym is amazing for a hotel gym but that’s where the good stuff ends. Room was filthy, with hair all over the floor in the bathroom and in the bath itself. Was told to keep my windows closed in 30 degree heat. Food was appalling but should have guessed considering the restaraunt/bar was empty. Wasn’t expecting gourmet but for £17 for fish and chips you need to do better. Breakfast items were cold/barely cooked. Hallways were filthy, whole place needs a deep clean. Staff were friendly but not sure how this place is open to be honest, barely anyone in the hotel and golf course looked empty. Needs major improvement.

Room was unclean. dead insects on the walls, a damp smell. window broken allowing more insects in. After an hour of killing bugs and blocking the window, I was still bitten several times during the night.

This has to be one of the worse hotel stays we have had. The hotel has an old nurseing home feel to it almost everything felt very dated there were stains on the carpet and even a tile fell off the shower whilst in use and hit my leg, after this we did get moved to a different room. The rooms were very very hot and had no air conditioning and the small fan didnt do much to help. The breakfast was served to you and was very basic and low quality. This hotel appears to be getting some renovation done, the pool area had been re tiled and there was building work going on around the pool and gym facilities.

:The Wiltshire Hotel, Golf and Leisure Resort Family Stay – July 2025 The Good - The **staff were lovely** throughout our two-night family stay. Every interaction was warm and welcoming. The Disappointments Facilities & Cleanliness - The building is marked with “1991” above reception, and it truly feels like the hotel hasn’t been updated since. Décor is extremely dated, and the **carpets are stained and look filthy**, showing obvious signs of age and neglect. - **Breakfast service starts at 8am**, which is later than most hotels and not ideal for families with younger children or early risers. Room Issues - We were informed on arrival that we had been “upgraded” to the hotel’s “nicest room,” a suite. Despite the apparent upgrade, there was **only one bed for the three of us** (my wife and our 6-year-old son). There was no pull-out bed or proper sleeping arrangement for a child, and the sofa was **far too small** even for a young child. This resulted in all of us having to squeeze into one bed – a very uncomfortable experience. I had booked a room with two beds. - The room lacked several basics, including: - No safe - Insufficient towels (not enough even for two guests, let alone three) - No teaspoons for the in-room tea/coffee; also, no biscuits or similar amenities - For the **price paid**, these issues were especially disappointing, as we had reasonably expected much more. General Atmosphere - The **entire hotel felt tired and worn out**

Arrived about 7 ish Given room card Room smelt horrible and no air con Hot changed went down for food And it was meals that went in to microwave So we ate out There was broken tiles in the bathroom the floor was sinking in the bathroom There was blood splattered by the bathroom door Over all the bins wasn’t empty and it was filthy Never staying again for a golf resort it’s was disgusting

We made our way out room on the first floor and couldn't miss the carpet that looked like it should have been replaced 20 years ago. The room itself is a great size and cleanliness was good but comfort not so. Mattresses were hard and lumpy, the pillows were that flat they might as well not have existed and there was only 1 per person. It wasn't a great night's sleep. We stayed for the air show at Fairford and it was ok for that but 2 nights was enough.

Needs a decent upgrade as rooms are looking a bit shabby. Only stayed for one night but was a comfy bed. Food in the restaurant is ok but quite pricey for what it is. Lovely surroundings and area. Pretty good value for money for bed and breakfast.

Convenient hotel. Ggood dinner and breakfast. No air con in the room, so very hot overnight even with the window open. The hotel could do with a lick of paint here and there, but overall very good

Bathroom with over bath shower and toiletries provided. A fault with the heated towel rail was fixed in 10 minutes! Very quiet away from the main road and a good full English breakfast the next morning. Perhaps the only downside is that the complex is fairly isolated and the taxis we used were very expensive. Uber and Bolt are not available here yet.

Not worth the money very Dissatisfied with the rooms had to be moved due to Broken windows and TV not working

A pleasant stay, nice pool and clean facilities. The gentleman on reception kindly secured us a room without people staying above us as I had seen in the reviews noise can be a real issue in the hotel. The corridors were extremely loud at night, people loudly coming back from the bar. We were woken a few times. We couldn't get dinner at the hotel. We were advised dinner was being served all afternoon until 8.30pm but when we returned to eat, we were told they couldn't take our order until 6pm. My son was hungry at 5pm so we ordered a takeaway and had it delivered to the hotel from a local place. The breakfast at the hotel was OK. Parking was excellent.

Stair carpet need cleaning, need to learn how to make porches eggs need more plugs in the room. Golf buggies where expensive

Fine for a brief boys trip with dad and nephew, but couldnt have brough mum here! Very very tired. This has potential to be great if refurbished but as stands is on par with a hostel for students.

The Wiltshire hasn't gone downhill in the last two years, it's fallen off a cliff. It's always been in need of modernisation, but this stay it felt dilapidated. Holes in carpets, creaking floors, clunky doors and missing paint/wallpaper. But the main problem was the service. The staff were friendly, but the hotel is clearly not being run by professionals who know how to run a hotel. I called up a week before to ensure we had cots in the rooms for our baby and toddler, but they weren't in the rooms when we arrived. It was late so I asked if we could have them ASAP. 15 minutes later and when I went down to check, the staff that I'd asked were just chatting in reception. Breakfast was a joke! No bread, no coffee, no tea, just kids breakfast cereal boxes. We had to order the food specifically... And they didn't even get the order correct. When we wanted to take our kids to the pool (which was the main reason we stayed there) they told us children weren't allowed until 10am (it was 9am). We dug our heels in and eventually we were allowed in. The pool is big, and there was only 1 other person in the pool, who seemed perfectly happy letting a family enjoy the pool. We won't be staying again.

Hannah on reception was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Room was spacious and was disabled friendly. The only downside of the visit was that I would have liked a larger menu in the restaurant in the evening. I would definitely stay there again though xx

Check in was fine! Rooms are basic! Bar service was really poor. The guy on check in was also serving on the bar with wait times of 30 mins sometimes. The restaurant was the same waiting 40 mins for a starter even though it wasnt busy maybe six people in there. The staff where good but expected to do too much.

Good value for money, clean and excellent location

Hotel was excellent easy to get to the Royal International tattoo. It was only a 20 minute drive.

Very tired throughout. Looks as though renovations have been started and abandoned, meaning the spa facilities weren't available and the gym, pool and changing areas very uninviting. We has a "Junior Suite" which was just a large room with a distinct lack of sockets and only one tea bag - the bed was comfortable though. Breakfast on the first morning was buffet style due to large groups of golfers. We had to go hunting for cups, plates and indeed food. There was no fruit or yoghurt or pastries as a continental option. The toaster seemed to have one setting - burnt. When we mentioned this at reception, he just shrugged and kept saying breakfast was still being served. On return to our room, the power had gone, the phone to reception went to voicemail, so we had to return to reception where the "maintenance man" was busy checking in guests. When he eventually came to the room, a switch had tripped in the fuse box in the room (?should that have even been there?). All in all not worth the money and spoilt what should habve been a relaxing couple of days

Check in was quick and easy, was expecting more from a Golf and Leisure resort in regards to the rooms, seem very outdated. Got some food from the restaurant and paid £14 for a burger and chips which was no way near the standard you expect for the price. I have paid less at festivals and the burger and chips have been better quality. Overall not bad but don’t expect luxury that you would at other Golf Resorts.

Part of this review seems unfair considering that my previous night's stay was at the Celtic Manor Resort so I'll try and be as objective as possible. There's no real indication from the outset that this wasn't going to be a wonderful accommodation experience with the setting, long drive from the main road and the fact it is a hotel and golf resort. That is where the positivity ended. On entering the lobby area, the flooring was an awful concrete surface. Once checked in by staff (all of which were very helpful and courteous), the walk to my first floor room was across carpeting that had seen much better days and was discoloured throughout and needs updating as does most of the décor. The room was adequate with the most basic of amenities and you can tell was kitted on a threadbare budget. The bed was at least comfy and allowed for a decent night's rest. I foolishly decided not to go out to eat but instead dine in at the restaurant. The only item of note was the Diet Coke I'm afraid. The wings for the appetizer were only just cooked. The burger for the main was made with low quality beef and the chips straight out of the frozen bag. The cheesecake for dessert was also straight out of the freezer without little time to defrost seemingly. This culinary car crash was amplified more so when it came to breakfast. The sausages were anaemic and undercooked and subsequently left well alone. Owners looking to make a fast buck but eroding any reputation it once had.
