Good menu choices for dinner. Plates beautifully presented and food excellent. The pub was pleasantly busy for a Wednesday evening both for eating and drinking. Good choice of continental and English breakfast. Room a bit small and shower cubicle a bit small but OK for one night. Our dog was made very welcome.

Lovely comfortable stay at the Kings Arms in Montacute. Bedroom decor very stylish, comfortable bed, great rainfall shower, although bathroom looking a little tired. Tasty dinner and breakfast. Tricky to get in and out of carpark, easier to park on the road.

Really oldie worldie village. The inn is equally oldie worldie in a good way. Staff were excellent as was the food. Loads of choice for breakfast. Some good beers on tap. An excellent choice of hotel/ Inn.

Set in a lovelly village Montecute House is 3 minutes walk away. Only minor winge wad the bed was a bit hard but that didn't affect our stay. Great beer and prices were reasonable. Would recommend a stay here.

We went for a short weekend. We wanted something dog friendly. And boy they were amazing. Lola got extra sausages for breakfast, they bent over and backwards for us. Would love to return whenever we are in the area.

A nice welcoming inn in the centre of the very pretty Montacute village. It's a few minutes easy drive from the A303. They have a few dog friendly rooms. Staff very welcoming and food good. We intend to stay again.

Large, very clean room and friendly staff. Cooked breakfast in the morning was superb, one of the best hotel English Breakfasts I’ve ever had - really good sausage and quality bacon. Would stay again just for the breakfast!

Tired hotel, mattress could do with replacing, noise from floorboards in room above mine and you could hear word for word the conversations they had required proper soundproofing, Parking is sparse and awkward, all staff friendly, good hot shower, tv was the smallest ever! Needs a general update and ivy removing from window which was growing into the room. Black mould around shower on ceiling, weird musky smell. Could be a very nice hotel but then room rates would double!!

Lovely building in a great setting. Our room was very dated and could be noisy at times when other guests used the toilet extractor fans. I think some of the other rooms have been updated. Everything very clean, and despite the room it was still a very comfortable place to stay. Breakfast was good. The staff here are absolutely excellent and I would stay here again just because of them. Everyone was friendly, personable and couldn’t do enough for you.

Slightly damp smell in the room, door would not self close and no hot water in the shower (lukewarm at best). Very, very soft bed, ridiculously small TV! Good breakfast but, although the food was good, evening meal prices were rather expensive. Good service from a young team of staff

We have stopped off on our trips to the south west on three separate occasions. The pub / hotel is very nice and the staff are very friendly. This time unfortunately the shower didn’t work, only discovered in the morning! We did get a small discount for the inconvenience. The food is always excellent.

Very pleasant stay, friendly staff & lovely food. I would rate it higher for overall quality & comfort but we found room 6 to be quite noisy, both from the floorboards creaking in the room above & an hourly noise like an extractor fan which sounded like it came from our bathroom but might have been beside our room or above.

The hotel and the village are lovely. The pub food likewise and the staff friendly. However, the rooms are very different in terms of their decor with some beautiful and others quite tired. We were in room nine - and there was a consistent noise from an industrial extractor fan from the kitchen which made it impossible to rest (it went off at 11pm and on again at 7.25am). Once activated, the room shook. We spoke to the staff and no other room was offered, no apology and just a shrug of the shoulders. My cousins, in room 16, had a lovely room and no such issues with the fan on the other side of the building.

The location is great and the staff very friendly, sadly that's all the positive I can say. I didn't sleep until around 4:30 because the walls are like paper and the bed in the room above us squeaked every time the person moved.. which was constant! Also, maybe we were staying when there were more seniors, because the number of times the bathrooms were used throughout the night was crazy. Also, expert to hear conversations from people above and on the side.

The hotel is located just off the A303 which makes it very convenient as a stopover to or from Plymouth ferry. The place is lovely, staff are friendly and very efficient. The food is just fantastic, great menu with some interesting tasty dishes. The only issue we had was with the bed. The mattress was very tired and soft, which wasn’t that comfortable. Saying that we would definitely go back as the rest of the stay was just lovely.

We loved staying here and will definitely be back! The room we had was clean and spacious. The staff were absolutely brilliant, helpful and friendly. We ate several times in the restaurant and the food was lovely and good sized portions. Breakfasts delicious especially the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon! Special shout out to Zoe!

The Staff were fantastic - couldn't be more helpful. Room was ok, very clean, and had a good night's rest. Lovely meal and had a nice wander around the village. Very convenient off the A303 for a break on our trip to Cornwall. Highly recommend.

The hotel is in a lovely location , parking was easy . Checking in was simple and we were given a warm welcome. We booked a table and when looking at the menu we both thought it was a little pricey , hope the food is good. The food didn’t disappoint excellent presentation and quality , well worth it . Would definitely stay again

We booked a table and when looking at the menu we both thought it was a little pricey , hope the food is good. The food didn’t disappoint excellent presentation and quality , well worth it . Would definitely stay again

Set in a lovelly village Montecute House is 3 minutes walk away. Only minor winge wad the bed was a bit hard but that didn't affect our stay. Great beer and prices were reasonable. Would recommend a stay here.

The Montacute house restoration and grounds were very special. The quiet pastoral area was great for exploring the rural aspects of the UK. The restaurant at the Hotel served some very delicious meals

The Staff were fantastic - couldn't be more helpful. Room was ok, very clean, and had a good night's rest. Lovely meal and had a nice wander around the village. Very convenient off the A303 for a break on our trip to Cornwall. Highly recommend.

A nice welcoming inn in the centre of the very pretty Montacute village. It's a few minutes easy drive from the A303. They have a few dog friendly rooms. Staff very welcoming and food good. We intend to stay again.

The hotel is located just off the A303 which makes it very convenient as a stopover to or from Plymouth ferry. The place is lovely, staff are friendly and very efficient. The food is just fantastic, great menu with some interesting tasty dishes. The only issue we had was with the bed. The mattress was very tired and soft, which wasn’t that comfortable. Saying that we would definitely go back as the rest of the stay was just lovely.

Good menu choices for dinner. Plates beautifully presented and food excellent. The pub was pleasantly busy for a Wednesday evening both for eating and drinking. Good choice of continental and English breakfast. Room a bit small and shower cubicle a bit small but OK for one night. Our dog was made very welcome.

Such a great hotel. The food in the restaurant is out of this world and cooked from scratch. Breakfast followed suit with a great choice and fabulous service. A lovely old hotel steeped in history in a lovely old English village. As you’ll be in the Cheese capital of the world, try the Cheese board after your meal for a delightful end. I hope I get the chance to return one day.

Large, very clean room and friendly staff. Cooked breakfast in the morning was superb, one of the best hotel English Breakfasts I’ve ever had - really good sausage and quality bacon. Would stay again just for the breakfast!

Amazing stay, staff are great and the food is always fantastic. The only point for improvement is that is a difference in the rooms between above the bar and the ground level rooms which the price doesn’t reflect very well

Slightly damp smell in the room, door would not self close and no hot water in the shower (lukewarm at best). Very, very soft bed, ridiculously small TV! Good breakfast but, although the food was good, evening meal prices were rather expensive. Good service from a young team of staff

We loved our stay here and the quirkiness of an historic building was able to add to the charm of our time. The included breakfast was excellent. A wonderful location and a gorgeous village. Our only complaint would be that the bed was old and a bit lumpy which did compromise sleep. In need of an upgrade we think.
