We have visited The Dales many times before and had Sunday lunches and afternoon teas. This time we decided to treat ourselves to an overnight stay. We had a lovely room with garden views. It was a very sunny day so we enjoyed a relaxed afternoon sitting in the beautiful peaceful tranquil gardens. The staff were very friendly and polite and the food was good also. Just marked one point down due to very soft pillows which are not to our liking. However we enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked again for later in the year. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Looking a bit tired now. The lift is reliable but the jolt on arriving to the desired floor is not a good sign. My parachute training was helpful in resisting the shock.

A lovely old house in expansive parkland. Good food with great staff throughout. I can see why many guests return time and time again, very relaxing. A few issues do need addressing though: The old lift needs caution notices warning of the sudden stopping at floor levels. This could cause injury to joints/spine etc. We only had one half used toilet roll in the bathroom. No kettle/cups/tea and coffee in bedroom. One point which disappointed us in particular was we were charged 80p for a splash of soda water in my wife’s glass of wine. This was not a spritzer it was a splash.

Wonderful staff, who went out of their way to make our stay perfect - they succeeded! This is the most pet-friendly hotel that I have ever experienced, which took away any stress of having our cocker spaniel with us. The room was large and well equipped; the bed was very comfortable; the dinner was excellent (which the staff served especially for us in the gazebo on the lawn outside our room); and the grounds were scenic. We will stay here again.

The food was excellent, but not always consistent - I had sea bass on one day which was so delicious (and as described in the menu) that I decided to have it again on my last night, but it was no where near as good - missing the chives in the mash, the dill sauce on the fish and not served with peas all as described in the menu. I’m guessing it was a different chef on duty. I was disappointed with a mix up/misunderstanding about my room - but I think that was because of Expedia, not the fault of the hotel. And the hotel did try to resolve it. I will definitely return and will know which room to request next time!

We loved the hotel and the room was amazing with a four poster bed and balcony over looking the gardens which was beautiful. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We had complimentary coffee and biscuits once we had checked in, the weather was amazing so we had this in the garden area. The location was great just a couple of minutes walk through the garden and we were in Sheringham Park. I do feel that at the price charged per night breakfast should be included but that is the only negative thing. I would stay again though as it really was a wonderful place for a weekend away.

The hotel is quiet and surrounded by trees and fields. Walking or cycling would be quite hazardous as there are no footpaths and the roads are narrow. It is also necessary to have some transport if you are planning on looking at the nearby villages and towns as the property is not on a main bus route. Having said that the hotel booked a reliable taxi for me on Friday evening, which turned up on time for both getting to West Runcton and back.

Laundry had failed to obliterate bottom sheet stains on the first night. After complaint sheet was replaced with a single just covering top of mattress . It rumpled and caused discomfort but was not replaced for third night. The only compensation offered was two free breakfast costing £30 final morning. The room was advertised as de luxe and cost £230 a night.

Country House in beautiful surroundings only a mile from the sea. We stayed on the ground floor and as we have a very old dog that suited us perfectly. Furnishings are rather dated and outside on the patio small dead xmas trees were not removed and broken flagstones, maintenance probably needs sorting very large tree had fell and not been removed despite looking as though it had been there of an age. Our room was large but on entering I noticed a very large spider in the corner of the ceiling with its prey and cobwebs so had been there awhile. The toilet was disgusting and appeared not to have been cleaned with at least three dark hairs around the lid called Reception and they offered to change our room but these standards were really not acceptable for the price of one nights stay.

Lovely property. Nice room, couple of problems with housekeeping. Had to ask for toiletries and toilet roll. Next day room not cleaned when we returned late afternoon. Breakfast good but at extra cost. Overall good but could be better for the price.

Our room was located (room12) within the attic. As a consequence the room was unbearably hot. Despite using 2 cooling fans for the whole duration of our stay we couldn’t cool the room sufficiently to feel comfortable and struggled to sleep.

Really lovely hotel and good value for money. The beds are really big and comfortable. Free toiletries in the room. Kettle with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits. The rooms were big. We had a ground floor superior room and it had a little terrace outside with patio doors and a chair and table. The grounds of the hotel are so lovely and beautiful. It is a 5 minute drive from Sheringham and was the perfect base for a Norfolk trip.

We booked a long bank holiday weekend at the very last minute and were not disappointed. Very tranquil location so the town isn't really walkable unless you are super fit although only minutes from town in a car. But the hotel more than made up for that. Very traditional which made you feel like you were stepping back in time. The staff were all super friendly and made us feel very welcome. We couldn't fault the room. Very comfortable Super kingsize bed in quite a large room, which also had a fabulous bathroom. We only had breakfast one morning but they had a great selection of hot and cold options. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we were out exploring but the meals we saw others enjoying looked amazing. If we are ever in that neck of the woods again, we would most certainly stay here again.

One night stay. Room large & comfortable. Comfortable bed. Doors to adjacent rooms too close together though, & can hear adjacent room’s plumbing , so if you’re next to an early riser you won’t get a lie in.

The room was exceptionally spacious and full of character. Many hotels are a bit soulless but this is far from the case here. The staff were professional, friendly and always with a smile. I've seen a few reviews have commented on 'hidden charges' - breakfast isn't included but this is clear from the very start and there's no pressure to eat here in the morning. If you do, however, the food is excellent (we had dinner) and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our overnight stay was an anniversary gift from our 3 sons, along with dinner on the Steam Train from Sheringham to Holt. Disabled access and nearby car parking were very useful and breakfast was excellent. Staff were helpful and the location was peaceful with beautiful grounds.

Really lovely hotel and good value for money. The beds are really big and comfortable. Free toiletries in the room. Kettle with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits. The rooms were big. We had a ground floor superior room and it had a little terrace outside with patio doors and a chair and table. The grounds of the hotel are so lovely and beautiful. It is a 5 minute drive from Sheringham and was the perfect base for a Norfolk trip.

This lovely big house had character and was nestled in a tiny little village with an amazing national trust park next to it. You coukd walk from the garden into the park. Also good for walking to seaside (Sheringham), about 1.5 miles and also to train station (about the same). The staff were very friendly and helpful and had the knowledge of the local area.

We booked a long bank holiday weekend at the very last minute and were not disappointed. Very tranquil location so the town isn't really walkable unless you are super fit although only minutes from town in a car. But the hotel more than made up for that. Very traditional which made you feel like you were stepping back in time. The staff were all super friendly and made us feel very welcome. We couldn't fault the room. Very comfortable Super kingsize bed in quite a large room, which also had a fabulous bathroom. We only had breakfast one morning but they had a great selection of hot and cold options. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we were out exploring but the meals we saw others enjoying looked amazing. If we are ever in that neck of the woods again, we would most certainly stay here again.

The hotel is quiet and surrounded by trees and fields. Walking or cycling would be quite hazardous as there are no footpaths and the roads are narrow. It is also necessary to have some transport if you are planning on looking at the nearby villages and towns as the property is not on a main bus route. Having said that the hotel booked a reliable taxi for me on Friday evening, which turned up on time for both getting to West Runcton and back.

Quiet location in beautiful countryside with far reaching views. Friendly welcoming reception upon arrival and were given a very nice well appointed room that met our needs. First class restaurant with choice of house specials and A la Cart all perfectly cooked and presented. Hotel perfectly located for access to local attractions. Would highly recommend for a relaxing stay.

The fabric of the hotel is gorgeous and the grounds are stunning. Our biggest disappointment was breakfast. We had a full English and the bacon was awful. It was over cooked and had then kept in a warming drawer for too long. The result was cardboard that we couldn’t eat. Also the white toast was so dry that it was like a crisp. So disappointing as we always look forward to breakfast when we’re away for the weekend.

Super friendly, helpful staff who made us feel very welcome. Beautiful location. Dog friendly and convenient for walks from the hotel with access to Sheringham Park. The food was excellent, but not always consistent - I had sea bass on one day which was so delicious (and as described in the menu) that I decided to have it again on my last night, but it was no where near as good - missing the chives in the mash, the dill sauce on the fish and not served with peas all as described in the menu. I’m guessing it was a different chef on duty. I was disappointed with a mix up/misunderstanding about my room - but I think that was because of Expedia, not the fault of the hotel. And the hotel did try to resolve it. I will definitely return and will know which room to request next time!

Although the bar meals were cooked and served very quickly, the first was slightly over cooked and the second could have been cooked a little more as not piping hot. Staff were friendly and attentive - overall a good weekend and I'd consider returning.

Lovely welcome from reception! Very helpful. Clean room, comfy bed though pillow too soft for me. Great it also had a lift to use instead of the stairs. Close to Sheringham which was perfect for us. Breakfast was nice although hash brown wasnt so good looked green/grey.

We managed to get a last minute room at the dales as we had been let down else where. So glad we did…gorgeous building and location, friendly helpful staff and clean room with everything we needed and a comfy bed and amazing shower. We will definitely be back and will stay longer next time!
