Travelling alone for work. Felt quite remote. Room was lovely. Had a bath which was nice that did have a shower although there was a sloping roof and I’m tall so I couldn’t stand to shower. Restaurant was nice and had a veggie option. Free parking.

Lovely stay in a clean, comfortable room in the building adjacent to the pub. We had a good breakfast on both days, even the dog received her own sausage! Dogs are made welcome taking our meals in a nice, bright dining area adjacent to the main dining room. The Crown is in a peaceful spot even though it is close to main routes. The lower car park is free from artificial light and we managed to get some lovely photos of the Milky Way, an unexpected bonus!

Relaxing two night stay with the family. Lovely friendly hotel, we stayed with our two children and the dog and all had a great time. Warm comfortable rooms and wonderful bathroom. Great homecooked breakfast in the morning too!

Staff excellent, venue excellent, ample parking, room excellent (mind ya head 😃), breakfast very good. Only problem was the central heating radiators were terrible. Coldest couple of days of the year so far so it was needed. Room and landing radiators ony red hot on the bottom couple of inches, maybe an air lock? An electric heater was provided, it didnt work either. Staff supplied another electric heater which saw us through. Apart from that, would definitely recommended and would go back.

Arrived and was greeted by chairissa perfect customer service unlike the bar lady on the saturday afternoon who looked at us as we had just been dragged in off the street not a guest , the room was sub standard needs a proper paint not white wash as the paint was flaking not just our room but around the hotel , bed was very low , no heating , shower was good but unfortunately the pump for every other room must of been next too ours as we were woke up both mornings at 6.30 with an absolute racket , no where to put your clothes except 3 hangers , no hair dryer , then we did book in for an evening meal on the saturday but the menu we were given by the bar staff in the afternoon changed 30 mins later and was very limited so we went to ludlow , when we came back the bar was closed at 9:30 on a saturday night no warning of this or poster to say why , the breakfast was the best part of the stay and the customer service of the young lady charrisa other than that it was a very poor stay could of gone to a travelodge for a better room won’t be going again

Clean and comfortable room, evening meal was good along with good local cask beer. A bit of a job finding the pub as the sign was overgrown with Ivy, everywhere outside seem to require a good clean up, hedges trimmed and generally tidied up. The pub itself could do with a bit of TLC. I am aware that pubs are strugling in the present climate. Enough said and good luck.

Really nice pub, convenient for Ludlow and the Shropshire Hills. Winter weekend break for us, nice big clean quiet room, comfy bed, plenty of space and large bathroom. All the staff very friendly and efficient, had a nice meal there - steak well cooked - and the breakfast was tasty, good quality ingredients and served quickly and with a smile. The bar area was nice, log fire burning and lots of locals in there. One negative was the water temp in the shower - I imagine as it’s an old building it’s not set up for the demand put on it at busy times. The shower fluctuated between cold and actual scalding hot where I almost had to jump out of the bath to avoid scalding so just be aware It only happened on the second morning when we were most likely showering at the same time as everyone else in the place. Overall we had a nice relaxing experience here and would come back if in the area.

Avoid. Worst stay ever. Served my pregnant partner out of date muffins. 4 days out of date, eggs and dairy in muffins??? Bed was really uncomfortable, we was up every 5 minutes tossing and turning my partner ended up with back/hip pain. HAIR IN MUG IN THE HOTEL ROOM. I made my partner a tea and she pulled a hair out of her mouth that wasn’t hers. Battered cod was burnt I had a handful of my food and left it. Full of kids who always seem to be apologising for bad management. Was told we’d be receiving a call from management and heard nothing. They don’t answer the phone. This was a surprise for my birthday from my partner we drove nearly an hour and a half to get there we could’ve stayed somewhere local and got better value and service.

Lovely location, friendly staff and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Downside: we booked a deluxe room but felt it was more standard. The door lock did not feel secure as it was very wobbly from the outside ad from the inside I thought it was going to come off in my hand when i opened it. Was told by staff that a key had broken off in the lock the previous day. I feel this should have been rectified before letting the room again. There was a dirty white facecloth on the radiator pipe ehind the bathroom door which looked like it was there to soak up a leaky radiator.

Hotel was lovely with all the low beams you could want, However at least three rooms had no hot water and only a trickle of cold water. There were 7 guests staying that night and three of the rooms (5 guests) shared the lack of water. Staff were asked and they sympathised but did nothing. I emailed the hotel but over the last week no response. Very disappointing Bar staff were friendly, food was great

Enjoyed my 1 night stay and had a great steak in the evening and also breakfast was excellent. My only issue was tha heating wasnt working and a member of staff got a plug in heater out of my rooms wardrobe which could mean they knew about the problem but i dont kow that for sure. The room was fantastic with a big walk in shower. They do have trouble using mobile phones there with no signal but kindly let you use their landline. Would stay there again if in the area. John

The room is basic, small but had character. Rooms could do with updating. Restaurant/pub was lovely with the wood beam ceiling. Food was out of this world the take on the traditional meal with a twist was great. Ive never tried food that good before.

It was a lovely cottage, clean and suitable for all our needs. We could hear the residents of the upstairs room going up and down the stairs though. We also heard conversations outside on the road as the windows were single payne Perhaps install double glazing. The heater in the room.was very good and the room was a good size.

It's a lovely building, unfortunately the heating system was not geared up for the very cold weekend we spent there. Heating was set to come on for an hour morning and evening. Due to age, there is no double glazing. On our second day we were give an electric heater. The breakfasts were great, set is up for a day out. The staff were friendly, we felt welcome, it would be 👍 t to stay late Spring or Summer. We cut out stay by a day and went home, where we can control the warmth on freezing cold days! .

Lovely location, friendly staff and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Downside: we booked a deluxe room but felt it was more standard. The door lock did not feel secure as it was very wobbly from the outside ad from the inside I thought it was going to come off in my hand when i opened it. Was told by staff that a key had broken off in the lock the previous day. I feel this should have been rectified before letting the room again. There was a dirty white facecloth on the radiator pipe ehind the bathroom door which looked like it was there to soak up a leaky radiator.

One negative was the water temp in the shower - I imagine as it’s an old building it’s not set up for the demand put on it at busy times. The shower fluctuated between cold and actual scalding hot where I almost had to jump out of the bath to avoid scalding so just be aware It only happened on the second morning when we were most likely showering at the same time as everyone else in the place. Hotel was lovely with all the low beams you could want, However at least three rooms had no hot water and only a trickle of cold water. There were 7 guests staying that night and three of the rooms (5 guests) shared the lack of water. Staff were asked and they sympathised but did nothing. I emailed the hotel but over the last week no response. Very disappointing Bar staff were friendly, food was great

Stayed over at the Crown for business. Plenty of positives including the look of the building, the interior decor and the friendliness of the staff. Had a meal which was first class and the beer was superb. The downside was the breakfast times being only 8.30-9.30 (I had to leave for a meeting by 8am. I was given a sausage sandwich that night for the morning plus some orange juice. Luckiliy I checked the date on the orange juice bottle before opening as it was over a month out of date. The room was cold in the evening despite the heating being on. In the morning no heating at all despite it being around 4 degrees outside. Went to take a shower and the water was lukewarm. It's a shame because what could have been a 5-star experience was soured by not getting the basics right. I note other reviews have mentioned the rigid breakfast time so I'm not alone in thinking this isn't customer friendly.

Arrived and was greeted by chairissa perfect customer service unlike the bar lady on the saturday afternoon who looked at us as we had just been dragged in off the street not a guest , the room was sub standard needs a proper paint not white wash as the paint was flaking not just our room but around the hotel , bed was very low , no heating , shower was good but unfortunately the pump for every other room must of been next too ours as we were woke up both mornings at 6.30 with an absolute racket , no where to put your clothes except 3 hangers , no hair dryer , then we did book in for an evening meal on the saturday but the menu we were given by the bar staff in the afternoon changed 30 mins later and was very limited so we went to ludlow , when we came back the bar was closed at 9:30 on a saturday night no warning of this or poster to say why , the breakfast was the best part of the stay and the customer service of the young lady charrisa other than that it was a very poor stay could of gone to a travelodge for a better room won’t be going again

Travelling alone for work. Felt quite remote. Room was lovely. Had a bath which was nice that did have a shower although there was a sloping roof and I’m tall so I couldn’t stand to shower. Restaurant was nice and had a veggie option. Free parking.

Enjoyed my 1 night stay and had a great steak in the evening and also breakfast was excellent. My only issue was tha heating wasnt working and a member of staff got a plug in heater out of my rooms wardrobe which could mean they knew about the problem but i dont kow that for sure. The room was fantastic with a big walk in shower. They do have trouble using mobile phones there with no signal but kindly let you use their landline. Would stay there again if in the area. John

Lovely stay in a clean, comfortable room in the building adjacent to the pub. We had a good breakfast on both days, even the dog received her own sausage! Dogs are made welcome taking our meals in a nice, bright dining area adjacent to the main dining room. The Crown is in a peaceful spot even though it is close to main routes. The lower car park is free from artificial light and we managed to get some lovely photos of the Milky Way, an unexpected bonus!

Avoid. Worst stay ever. Served my pregnant partner out of date muffins. 4 days out of date, eggs and dairy in muffins??? Bed was really uncomfortable, we was up every 5 minutes tossing and turning my partner ended up with back/hip pain. HAIR IN MUG IN THE HOTEL ROOM. I made my partner a tea and she pulled a hair out of her mouth that wasn’t hers. Battered cod was burnt I had a handful of my food and left it. Full of kids who always seem to be apologising for bad management. Was told we’d be receiving a call from management and heard nothing. They don’t answer the phone. This was a surprise for my birthday from my partner we drove nearly an hour and a half to get there we could’ve stayed somewhere local and got better value and service.

The room is basic, small but had character. Rooms could do with updating. Restaurant/pub was lovely with the wood beam ceiling. Food was out of this world the take on the traditional meal with a twist was great. Ive never tried food that good before.

Clean and comfortable room, evening meal was good along with good local cask beer. A bit of a job finding the pub as the sign was overgrown with Ivy, everywhere outside seem to require a good clean up, hedges trimmed and generally tidied up. The pub itself could do with a bit of TLC. I am aware that pubs are strugling in the present climate. Enough said and good luck.
