There was plenty of free parking in car park. Reception is available 8:30-5 only. The sliding door to room was very difficult to figure out how to lock and unlock. It would be very easy to break into the rooms. There was a small pool and a bbq on property I like the path to the beach from the back of property. The room had kettle, microwave, and fridge. The room was large. Ours had a queen and a bunk bed. TV had a variety of channels. Room was very quiet. You can walk to town in less than 10 minutes. The carpet was worn in the room. The room had a damp smell to it .

This hotel offers great location. 100m to great beach and a 2 minute walk in to Main Street all with the convenience of onsite parking. Room was a good size with all the normal appliances expected. On site pool was nice with bbq if required. I really liked the look of the outside of the hotel which was of a manor style. Would highly recommend this property.

Easy walk to town. Straight out the back gate to the beach. Spacious room with toaster and microwave. Impressed that they had security screens in the windows so you could safely have windows open at night rather than running the airconditioning.

Great location. Private access to Belongil Beach. Short walk to main street of Byron, parks, etc. Rooms are very clean, basic amenities. Staff are lovely. Great place to stay if you plan to be out and about all day or sit by the pool. Given it is a motel with cars parked just out of your room, it isn’t the place to hang and chill in your room, if that is what you are after.

Room was spotless and due to brick walls it was very quiet. Lots of extra little amenities like cutlery, bbq area, cookies, beach umbrellas etc. Had a couple really good nights sleep beds were comfy!

The staff were really great, approachable and helpful, and Wollongbar is clearly a very well maintained motel. The bed was very comfortable, the linen was high quality, and the room was all fresh and clean. It is without doubt the cleanest accommodation I have ever stayed in, anywhere in the world! However, the actual facilities were very old and dated, the tiles were chipped in the bathroom, and it had the usual unavoidable mould in a property that is so old. Oddly there was no full length mirror in the room. Traveling as a single female occupant I would have appreciated being on the second floor where I would have felt a bit safer at night. The double room had a kitchenette but no kitchen sink to wash up in. It would be fine for a night or two, but the rooms aren’t serviced, so if you’re going to stay longer then an apartment would probably be better suited.

This room was dirty. There was poo on the toilet seat. Mould in the bathroom and dust everywhere. We paid for 2 nights and only stayed for 1. We left without telling them, as we were so disappointed in this place.

For a motel it was a quite good hotel, but it didn’t look super clean and most of it looked already very used. For one night I guess it is ok but I wouldn’t stay longer there. Nethertheless, the reception staff was very friendly and check in was very uncomplicated.

Great spot near the centre of Byron. But no shower curtain so the entire bathroom was wet. Didn't affect us but due to lack of staff no hosekeeping unless to stay a week?

Not sure where to start or stop with this review. The shower did not work. Only a trickle of warm water was evident from the shower head. Abolute rubbish. Fixtures, windows and doors were dysfunctional or broken. The ceiling was dirty. Tiles in the shower mouldy, toilet bowl was stained. No drinking glasses. This place would have been.okay at $50 per night, but at $360 per night is a joke. I felt embarrassed as an Australian that holiday makers visiting beautiful Byron Bay would think that this place represented quality or value for money. This place is rubbish, make no mistake. Either raise this 1960s relic to the ground and start again or drop the prices to reflect the "worse than a caravan park" standard. Good luck if you expect a shower before going out or after a swim.

The door had no lock only the insect screen locked which is not safe. The lamp had an electrical short which is dangerous. The lights went didn’t seem to care about any of this at all. I would never stay here again.

On the positive side this motel was in an excellent location - direct access to the beach and a 3 minute stroll into town. However the room itself was extremely dated and clearly in need of some refurbishment. If you’re planning to spend most of your time out of the room then this might be an option but otherwise I’d look elsewhere

The motel is in an ideal spot, on the way into Byron from the north, a few minutes walk from town and it backs on to the beach. If only it had been refurbished! It is very dated with chipped paintwork and dingy decor. The darkness in the room wasn’t helped by the bunk beds up against the window. We didn’t need them and hadn’t asked for them! However, the handiness of the motel and the extreme helpful and friendly staff did ease the disappointment of the room.

We had forgotten our power converter at our last stop. Ellen (I think) offered us a 220v phone charger for free. Apparently it is the most common forgotten item in their rooms. She had a box full of them. Well above and beyond, thank you.

Nightmare Check-In: No Staff: There was absolutely no check-in staff available after 5:00 PM. Security Risk: The key was supposedly left "under the mat," but it had already been taken by someone else. This is a major safety concern. Zero Support: There is no phone or chat support available at night. I was left stranded until they finally responded the next morning. Suggestion for Management: Stop leaving keys under mats. At the very least, you should use a secure lockbox with a code.

This was my second time staying at the motel, it’s in a great location, walking distance to everything and has direct access to the beach. Beds are comfortable and it includes all needed amenities. I would recommend an after hours line be available to guests as the smoke alarm in my room unfortunately went off

We arrived to check in after driving 10 hours with 2 kids and there was no room. They claimed it was cancelled a few weeks earlier but Wotif had it active in their system. Wotif found us another property within an hour and paid for the price difference as most property's were more expensive given it was a very last minute booking. Wollongbar didn't care or give us an explanation! Wouldn't recommend.

Average place needs TLC. On site parking, main road so care needs to be taken entering and exiting driveway. Walk to beach was ok, but cross railway tracks can incur fine $1K. Only scenery train runs.

I stayed for 2 nights and the location was good, the beach access was a bit of a trek though overgrown land and a train track and was fenced off the other side of the track. Maybe I was just unlucky but the room I stayed in definitely needed updating! Everything just seemed old and warn, chips in furniture, paint coming off door frames and the fridge seemed dirty on the other side with the door seal looking black! For the price charged I expected better.
