Wyvern Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The property is beautiful! Clean and quiet. We were really looking forward to visiting the rooftop bar and pool, but it was completely closed for a wedding. Wish we had known ahead of time. Other than that, our stay was great.

The location was great for walking downtown to restaurants and the water. We had a bay view on the rth floor and it was lovely. The staff was great, we had to change rooms at check in and it was seamless. Rooftop bar was very nice.

rooftop bar is fun and view is amazing, 88 Keys had a great dinner. Easy other dining options next door. Need to take off that they have a pool, it was filled in after the hurricane a few years back

They removed the swimming pool and the gym. It's Florida, who ever thought removing a swimming pool in Florida was a sound decision? It used to have a pool.

Parking was terrible. Hotel lot was full. They told us to park in one lot until 9:00 p.m. and then move our car. The lot was full. We had to park 1 1/2 blocks away in a city lot.

They do not have a hotel parking lot. it as well as the surrounding parking is public. Since the hotel is located in the downtown area with restaurants and other businesses the parking was not easy. No valet parking at all. Since the hotel had a restaurant there was not a free breakfast. Only stayed for one night but I would not go back.

We have stayed here many times before and enjoyed it, because walkable proxity to restaurants is a huge advantage, and hotel is clean and nice. This time, we stayed during the weekend and there were festivals and lots of special events that made parking at the hotel impossible. Our first night, we had to park in public parking down the street overnight and the next day, we had to go to Fishermen's Village to wait for the festival to close, so we would park at the hotel. Called front desk who could not help. They do not enforce or monitor their parking lot for patrons. Anybody can park there, leaving us to fend for ourselves. Otherwise, love the place. So, be warned, if staying during a weekend or events scheduled.

We chose to stay in this hotel for 3 nights because it had a nice roof-top bar and restaurant. The roof top facilities were rented out mid-afternoon to late night for noisy parties and unavailable to hotel patrons on Thursday and Saturday night and the lobby bar was also rented out on Saturday night. Parking was unavailable because of the parties. We were not notified of this when we booked the hotel less a month prior to our stay or when we checked in. We received no discount or even acknowledgement that it was a problem. We previously stayed in the Mariott hotel across the street and it had a better view, nicer room, better amenities and they were honest.

We arrived 2 hours before check-in and we’re told we would have to pay $40 to get access to our room ???? The pool was out of order as was the business center. Definitely no value for money. Would not recommend.

For the high price of this hotel, you’d expect to walk into a neat foyer, but instead it is filled with equipment and the chairs bunched together. As a business owner, it is easy to organize it accordingly to be more welcoming and that’s just my immediate impression. I realize the hurricane caused damage, sadly, but it is still in your best interests to save your brand and make your so called 4 star hotel give that impression. I’d also check the premises for debris, as an empty drink was left outside last night and it was still there upon check out today. The employees facing should always put on a customer friendly face. Instead, argumentative when simply asked where the ice machine was and 3 staff members sitting around full of excuses. The best one being “I told you upon check in where ice machines were.” Fine if you think so, but it is t hard to say simply, “Ice is located….” (no signage). Absolutely no room cleaning service on a 3 night stay, so we had to ask for coffee, towels, toilet paper, trash pick up. The sarcasm of the female saying “Doesn’t your phone work?”(note, NO phones in room!) was ridiculous considering she wasn’t being troubled to actually work besides handing over the few necessities versus delivering them. The rooms are in poor condition with a broken sink and other lack of maintenance that shows the need for a strong management to revamp what should be a fine hotel. We certainly made the wrong choice in an area full of much nicer hotels. Also, be caref

This property was lovely, but had no where outdoor to sit in the Florida sunshine! You can sit at the the rooftop bar, if you eat or drink! They would not allow us to just sit and relax to enjoy the view and we do not drink! No lounge chairs or comfortable seating. We had black soot particles coming out of the ceiling vents all over the sofa and table. We reported it and nothing was done to clean it. What were we inhaling during our 5 day stay? Breakfast is not included and expensive in their little restaurant. The rooms are only cleaned every other day so we had to continually chase down towels. If you want to relax outdoors I would not recommend this property.

Very clean property overall. Room was spacious and clean. Housekeeping everyday is fabulous. The beds are super comfy. Staff was friendly and available.

Room smelt of mold and stale, had to wait for maintenance to check room before be given new room. Second room was clean and satisfactory, roof top bar employee was rude and was over charged for wrong drink order.

Beautiful room, large, clean, 2 restaurants on site. Looked as if they had remodeled the rooms recently. Beds were comfortable and there was a comfy sofa in the room as well. Room had fridge, Keurig, lots of outlets for chargers, microwave and large TV. Very impressed.

Spent one night. Easy and welcoming check in. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lovely big bathroom with a deep tub and hot water. Our only hopefully helpful comment is that the elevator was a bit shabby, compared to every else in the hotel, but it didn't detract from our stay. We had a lovely view of the River from our room and enjoyed our stay.

We have stayed at this property a number of times in the past and always have had an exceptional experience. I didn’t read the property description before booking this time and was surprised to see that the pool was missing when we got there. Internet signal was not always great in our room. Great stay!

Our room was lovely. Quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was huge- plaster could use some repair.

The location of the hotel to surrounding restaurants is great. Very walkable. The room was very clean but found some things a little odd. Shower door swings out and towels are not reachable. Outlet in bathroom didn’t work and no outlet to be found near the only mirror in bedroom. Loved the rooftop bar that had great views. Also woke up at 5:00am to trucks outside our room collecting trash. Really!! However, I would stay here again.

The Wyvern Hotel was very modern and clean. The room was huge with a nice lounging sofa in the room, and is very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is large with a beautiful shower and a separate jacuzzi tub. The rooftop bar was great-what a view! The only negative thing that I have to mention is that the air conditioning in the room smells very musty which was very disturbing. They need to either change the filters or there may be mold growing. This definitely needs to be addressed. Every time the air conditioner shut off and came back on you got that strong musty smell. Would I stay there again? Absolutely! I hope the a/c is addressed before I do!

My hotel of choice every time I visit Punta Gorda! Reception is prompt, rooms are always super clean, their restaurants serve great food. Highly recommended!

They did not have an alarm clock, or any other clock in the room. I complained and asked for one to be delivered, but they never fulfilled that request. Also, when requesting an alarm clock, they said to just use a wake up call, and the wake up call did not come at the promised time. Those two actions together, is unacceptable for a property of this stature.

I believe her name was Mia that checked me on. She was not only professional, but personable and helpful. Just a great place to stay.

Lovely front desk staff who were always polite, welcoming and knowledgeable about the local facilities. Similarly the cleaning crew were always friendly and pleasant. The restaurant and sky bar staff were less so as they were busy chatting to each other as opposed to paying attention to the patrons. I had to tell a bar server what my order was three times because she wasn’t listening but chatting with a colleague. Similarly there was one restaurant worker who was really curt for no other reason other than she just was. The room was clean, had sufficient towels, a hairdryer and it was really handy having a small fridge and microwave for my stay. As well as a door lock, there’s an additional door stop in the event of someone attempting to open the door with an electronic key, they still wouldn’t physically be able to open the door - an excellent safety feature in my opinion. The hotel is walking distance from a few restaurants and bars which suited my needs and the area felt safe to me as a lone, female traveller though it’s still important to be cautious. Overall, other than a few minor issues such as the gym being closed for a refurb and one or two staff in need of customer care training, the hotel was ok and the nice staff more than compensated for any shortcomings.

Perfectly located to dining and entertainment areas, shopping! Hotel was very nice and quiet. Staff was very friendly and polite, Jordan was a joy at front desk, Kevin was great at the Rooftop bar. We will definitely stay again when we return to the city! Thank you

Great location. We walked from the hotel to the dock to get on the rental boat. Also we walked both nights to the restaurants on the next block. Perfect.

For a business two night stay it wasn't bad at all. The employee's were very helpful. The room was sufficient. You can literally walk to most places to eat. It was convenient to the convention center. So location could not have been better.

Great hotel! Lobby looked a little rough, but the room was stunning. The outside gets loud and it’s easy to hear from inside but overall good experience.

Great hotel location. First time to the area and would stay here again. Loved how could walk to restaurants & shops as well as near path along the water. Room was spacious and clean. Great shower. Rooftop bar for a drink was an extra bonus.

Very convenient hotel just blocks from downtown Punta Gorda. Clean, friendly staff. It like to walk around and discover a charming city this is the place for you.

Great price. Rooms were perfect with an oversized bathroom. Rooftop bar with a great view of the water. Awesome fish tacos. Lots to see and do outside the hotel.

An amazing restaurant right on the harbor. My only complaint was the breakfast in the rooftop. Service was amazing but food was not. Next time we’ll just enjoy drinks in the roof and eat elsewhere.

We would have liked to eat breakfast in the hotel instead of on the windy rooftop. The waitresses needed more training. We ordered eggs and potatoes . The potatoes were dried up and cold . The waitress asked if we needed any catsup and took forever getting back to us . No butter and when we asked only received one small pat and 2 jellies. We had eaten up there the afternoon before and our waiter was excellent .

Misleading on Expedia… no pool and restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday (which is when I stayed. ). Staff was young and inpatient. Bed was beyond comfortable. But won’t stay again

Roof top bar is excellent! Food is good, and prices are fair. $20 bottomless mimosas and bloody’s on Saturday and Sunday are a must!

Nice little Irish pub around the corner they have a top roof bar at this hotel food's not that great at the hotel but the Irish pub was really good check them out

Beautiful hotel, weather did not cooperate so we could not visit rooftop bar. Had dinner at indoor restaurant, good food, friendly staff. Very nice bar and options available. I would definitely recommend staying here!
