Comfort Inn & Suites Greenwood near University

This hotel is old and run down. The pool and fountain are not working and are disgusting. The rooms are worn and shabby. The door to the room doesn’t even close all of the way and there is a gap around it. You hear everything in the hotel. I’ve stayed at several other hotels within 1/2 mile of this one that are much better and cost less. Don’t stay here!!

Stated one night for business. My room had the deadbolt turned so the door was not locked when I arrived to my room. As a single traveler this was unsettling. The key card barely worked (needed to have it reset twice.) The hotel shows signs of age. Dehumidifiers set up in the hallways and the trim along the floor had been removed. It was adequate for one night, but would not want to stay longer.

This hotel is in terrible shape. The pool was black and closed. The Room wasn't clean. The sink hadn't even been cleaned, it looked like someone had thrown up in it. At Breakfast the juice machine was broken. ....

It had a smell. The pool wasnt cleaned it was green, the people were nice, there was construction going on, the numbers on the first floor were hanging on with tape. Torn up carpet, hazmat by the doors. Cracks in the ceiling sheets and mattress pad had yellow stains and ripped. Outside door wws propped open. Bags of trash in the hallways. The customer service was amazing just the building and cleanliness.

The location was good, the front desk was on the phone talking for about 5 mins while i stood there. The room needed obvious uodates, patches on the door, no towel bar light switches,etc. We would have liked to to see the fountain working outside.

Couldn’t use the pool and the app said it was available because if not I wouldn’t booked there but all in all it was clean, quiet.

The TV didn’t work at all. The sausage gravy and biscuits were delicious. That was about the only good thing about the stay. The pillows were small and not comfortable. There was a funny odor outside of the workout center on the first floor.

Gym equipment is old and shabby. Staff was friendly and helpful.

It was ok but I wished I knew about the pool was not available before I booked it! The Holiday Inn is usually where I stay when I visit my family but i decided to give comfort inn a try but was disappointed about pool😔🌞

This property is being remodeled right now so there are some things that need updating but enjoyed our stay

The entire property smelled of mildew, and there were dehumidifiers all along the hallway of the first floor. If you have allergies, specifically mold allergies, avoid this hotel. The outside of the hotel looks nice enough, but as soon as you enter the hallways, you can tell that this hotel is in dire need of a remodel. The doors and furniture are scratched up, the old iron tub was stained, the shower put out a trickle of water at best. There was no body wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc. in the shower as most modern hotels now have so one is forced to watch with a bar of soap. The beds are old innerspring mattresses that sag in the middle so you’ll be fighting your way out of the hole all night. There are no USB ports in these hotel rooms so if you don’t have a brick, you are out of luck. I cannot recommend this hotel at all. The only reason why I booked it is because all of the other hotels full due to a graduation happening in town.

The property was very run down and our room was crawling with roaches. There was a dirty pair of shorts under the bathroom sink and in general everything was very dirty.

Very friendly staff, property as well as room was VERY CLEAN. Continental breakfast had good selection and nice dining area. My boyfriend and I stayed 5 nights without a care in the world!! Front desk staff was so pleasant and helpful! Housekeeping is on point! Room smelled nice, bathroom and room were spotless, and bedding was comfy. Housekeepers checked on us timely every morning. A great place to stay!

The room was old and desperately in need of updating. It smelled musty and there was mold in the bathroom along with rust on the fixtures. Dead cockroaches in the hallway. Simply awful.

Within the first 2 hours of being in the room, My CHILD found pills on the floor next to the bed (hidden under the bed skirt.) I have photos for proof House keeping needs to do better. The front desk offered us a new room but after traveling 8 hours, with children, we inspected the room again and just wanted to relax. Would have been nice for a discounted rate or future visit (the town has very limited QUALITY hotels so we have no choice but to come back here)

There was a small amount of what appeared to be dried blood on the sheets. It had soaked into the mattress so it was obvious that the sheets had not been changed.

Tina at check in was super nice. Room was very clean and comfortable. Great selection for breakfast. Our only complaint was the lack of water pressure in the shower. It was barely more than a trickle, to the point that you had to almost be touching the shower wall to get under it and there was not enough pressure to get the soap out of thick hair.

The staff was kind and respectful. The lack of water pressure in the showers was problematic. It took forever to get the shampoo out of my hair due to the lack of water pressure. Additionally, the water would go from hot to completely cold and that would last 2 to 3 minutes before getting warm again.

The room was shabby and worn. The bathroom was terrible. The sink faucet was loose and moved around as you tried to use it. The shower controls were held together with some added screws that didn't fit. In all I would never stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone. I can't believe that you gave it a 9.2 on the website!

First the front desk staff was wonderful. The room was just ok. Didn’t feel super clean. Bed topper was torn and pillows were terrible. The only outlet in the bathroom didn’t work. Then there were crews of workmen staying there with their heavy trucks. By 5 am they started leaving the parking lot right out of our window. Loud engines and talking made it impossible to sleep. We were there for a family funeral so we missed the sleep. Sorry but won’t stay there again.

The rooms are spacious

The curtains could not close in my room. Sheer/ see through curtains does not equal privacy. I was on the first floor/ground level and felt exposed at all times. This was very uncomfortable for me. I checked early and was told by the clerk, I would be reimbursed for 1 night, my refund as promised never occurred. I would not stay here again or recommend any friends/family/business associates. This is not the comfort inn I remember!

Beds are not as comfy and throughout the night you hear toilets flushing and showers till around midnight and traffic. Will not be returning.

I am used to staying in 5-star resorts. However, my son was playing a collegiate golf tournament in Greenwood and they were staying at the Comfort Inn. Nid S. was very friendly and hospitable upon checkin. They even had all the golf teams staying at the hotel on a board with balloons and welcome cookies. The bed was VERY comfortable and the sheets were some of the softest sheets!

This was my second time staying here. First time was the best from the first encounter with the front desk employee. This time the employee (not the same as the first) was a bit rude. Didn’t offer up any important info (where the elevator was, that the pool was open, etc). When I checked out that employee (another different employee) was too busy on her phone to get up. Breakfast was ok.

We stayed at the hotel as my daughter had a lacrosse camp at Lander University. Our flight from NJ was delayed repeatedly and we did not check in until 2:00AM. The airline also lost our bags, so we had nothing. Philip was working the front desk and greeted us. What a blessing!!! He did so much to try to help us by providing us with toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. He told me where the Walmart and Kohls were so we could get supplies and clothes the next morning and even provided business hours. My daughter and I were both pretty upset but his kindness was such a help and made us feel a little better. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that I took a shower, and the tub was clogged completely so my daughter could take a shower after me the next morning as we had to go.

We've stayed at several Comfort Inns and this one was not as nice. When I arrived to check in I had to wait for the clerk to finish her conversation with a friend. Breakfast was subpar and shut down before 9. No ice on first floor. Did not seem worth the price.

I don’t typically write reviews, but I felt compelled to share our experience to help other travelers. The Comfort Inn & Suites in Greenwood, SC is not the standard you might expect from a Choice Hotel property. At first glance, the exterior is deceiving—it looks like a typical Comfort Inn with its decorative plants and pool. However, once inside, the reality is very different. The lobby was dated, cluttered with tools, and had a strong odor of dirty mop water that hit us immediately. The carpets throughout the hotel were old and smelled unpleasant. More concerning were the people lingering around the property—there were individuals loitering outside, and we witnessed someone who appeared to be under the influence slumped across a breakfast table in the lobby. It was unsettling, especially for families traveling with children. Used towels were left in the closet from previous travelers. We later learned that the hotel is being used to house vulnerable members of the community. While I support efforts to help those in need, this setup was neither communicated to guests nor managed in a way that made the environment feel safe or sanitary. We made the decision to check out immediately. This hotel is not suitable for travelers expecting a clean, comfortable, and safe stay. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere until management makes significant improvements and increases transparency about the current use of the facility.

Closeness to Lander

This is now my go-to location when visiting my son at college

We had to have front desk person come to our 1st room (yes, 1st room) to get the tv to operate. Then, just before10pm we had to pack up all our belongings and head to the front desk, again, because my daughter found BED BUGS under pillows and under the mattress pad. Totally disgusting. We were then moved to a different room on the second floor and we couldn't get that tv off the main screen either. Not a great experience. The shower was great, as was the breakfast.

The front desk staff were not very friendly - no one asked if we had enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was supposed to be until 9:00 am, but at 8:45, most of the food was gone and not replenished. The air conditioning in the room was noisy and was not consistent -too hot, then too cold, without changing the temperature. This place just needs an overhaul - newer baths, newer AC/Heat, and a friendlier, more accommodating staff.

I wasn’t pleased with the stay. I tried to watch TV only to find out that a total of zero channels were available to watch. There was a funny smell in the hallway past the elevator. The breakfast was good. I was shocked to find biscuits with sausage gravy

Very friendly and knowledgable desk clerk. The room was clean. The breakfast was very good. Will stay again when in the area.
