Most if the staff were lovely. The hotel its self is tired, some parts unkept. This is a shame as the location is perfect, very good for young children and was nice to see dogs welcome. The whole place needs dusting and in the case if our room it needed a re vamp but it was not dirty. The food was very average and the breakfast was disappointing. My last point is the swimming pool was more of a plunge pool only big enough for toddlers and baby’s, not adults.

This was our third trip back to the hotel. It's a great place in the middle of the new forest, peaceful and rural. In the morning there are quite often horses and donkeys outside the hotel. The staff are all friendly and polite too, and there is a lovely little pool as well. This won't be our last stay.

Great location , we stayed in the annexe so can only speak of those rooms. Rooms are fairly tired and not easily accessible for young family with babies or wheelchairs. Swimming pool could’ve done with a tidy up , dirty towels spread everywhere and dirty toilets. All in all we did enjoy our stay and would stay again.

Fantastic, family friendly hotel. Very comfortable stay in the middle of the New Forest. Very helpful staff. Pool is a great edition for the children and whilst rooms could do with some modernisation, it was certainly very well maintained. Would recommend!

What a lovely hotel and such beautiful surroundings! We had such a wonderful stay, along with the dog (which you need to ket them know prior to the stay). They left a bowl, a towel and dog treats for him, such a lovely touch. He was also warmly welcomed in the pub for dinnner and breakfast. I loved it so much im already planning ahead for when we cancome again!

The hotel was basic but clean with friendly helpful staff. There was a large garden at the rear with plenty of table space and open forest at the front for walking. Like a lot of hotels it could do with some paint touching up in some areas.

This was our second visit. Have already booked third visit. Room lovely, staff lovely, hotel, bst and the drift super. They always genuinely make you welcome. Ralph our dog is always given a welcome pack the staff love him. Towels, poo bags and treats for Ralph at the main door. Fabulous location

The hotel is very cosy and has a nice albeit small swimming pool, we didn’t eat at the hotel so cannot comment on food the general cleanliness was good . The room itself was below a standard expected for the price paid but as I booked through hotels.com , I think I paid a premium, the room was very hot so made it uncomfortable to sleep even though I turned the radiators off. The bed itself was very comfortable nice thick mattress and two comfy pillows, the worst part was the morning , shower was stone cold so could not use, some of the furniture in the room had seen it’s best days ie the desk and side tables ,there was also some nasty stains on the carpet, but as this is a new forest hotel with lots of hikers staying , I guess that is to be expected, there is plenty of parking and hotel is well situated for exploring the new forest. Based on the price I will give this hotel a rating of 3 stars .

we came here to stay for the beautiful views and we deffo had that out our window was stunning but had to hold the window open with a lucazade bottle unfortunately but we made a solution , unfortunately we had the room right by the opening to the next rooms so the door was slamming all night but that’s just pot luck , the service wasn’t great either no one around at times the bar doesn’t take cash either so we couldn’t get a drink as we only had cash on us , the pool was cold but we had it to our selves and soon warmed up , no one really explained anything so we also got locked out as no one explained the key pad properly at half 12 at night , when we came to baths my partner wanted a shower but the cold came out the shower the hot came out the tap so had to have a bath , the water was badly hot so the were also warm , room service no existing and felt anxious to ask for anything , it’s a shame really as we love the new forest and got engaged there on our stay a shame we didn’t have the trip we wanted for this

Check in was quick and receptionist was professional. Bedroom was clean. Comfortable bed. Kettle/tea and coffee. Quiet.Bathroom needed updating. the shower head stand was broken but the shower was a good water pressure and clean.Pub/restaurant on site. Very attentive service. Food was good and a good variety on their wine list.Check out could have been better. The receptionist needed help and took a while to correct our bill. However the lady who helped was very quick and professional. Would return.

Unfortunately we only stayed for about 15mins. After entering the room the first impression of the Hotel and the beautiful views where quickly diminished due the cleanliness of the room. There was thick dust on the light fitting over the bed, I’d say it had never been cleaned, dust on top of wardrobes, dirt and dust around the back of the sink area, hair in the bath. The room itself was very tired and needed some TLC, walls flaking, tables had stains on and carpet stained also. It was a shame as we were looking forward to the stay but due to my partners asthma this wasn’t suitable. They really need to pay some attention to customers reviews and sort these issues out as this could be a beautiful place to stay.

We love the new forest collection hotels and have stayed dozens of times over the years, the staff are always friendly and the venues are always cosy and quiet. Unfortunately on this occasion the previous lodgers had left their dirty underwear hanging on the bathroom door. We understand this is easy to miss if the door is left open while cleaning but it was a bit of a shock as we've never had anything like this happen before. The hotel immediately removed it so it wasn't a major issue. Due to the age of the property it isn't the most energy efficient but it warmed up fairly quick and we had a great night sleep. First thing in the morning we were able to go for a snowy walk 10m over the road to kick start our day. We strongly recommend all the hotels in the new forest collection, the staff and venues will make your stay relaxing and hassle free.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with very friendly staff. We enjoyed lunch at the inn next door & soaked up the beautiful location of the hotel before check in. The reception staff were lovely on our check in & even provided a big bag of treats for our dog which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately once we got in our room, we were met with a broken bath, a leaking shower head, scribble marks & scuff marks all over the walls & doors, dirty marks on the bed linen & a dirty ear bud on the floor! Also our room was next to a staff door & they smoked right outside our window which meant we couldn't open our windows to get some fresh air in. Its such a shame. Lots of small things accumilated to such a disappointment. The hotel itself was so relaxing & the location was the best, so it makes us sad that our room was really not in a good state & because of that we really cant warrant paying to stay again.

Restaurant was freezing cold with guests eating food in coats No towels in room to shower in the morning and nobody at reception until after 8am so couldn’t complain or get towels as I had to leave by 7 am ended up stripping the bed to dry in bed clothes I left a note at reception with my business card for someone to cal me to discuss my complaint but no response Won’t go back

Hotel is lovely although a little tired. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the forest, but only one bedside lamp, bulbs in main light not working, dripping shower, tired decor. We still had a lovely stay and I would visit again but might have a conversation about room choices beforehand. Staff are very friendly, helpful and polite.

The room was very dated with paper hanging from the ceiling, the bathroom was in need of a lot of tlc and had all the paper and paint hanging off, didn’t even want to shower in it

Well, firstly the location is Stunning and the stay here was part of our anniversary celebrations. Dining staff were excellent, however booking in did go well receptionist quite rude. I know we were 30mins early, were told to "go away and comeback at three", okay, but found that quite rude could have been delivered better surely. Now the room, the walls and ceiling had scruff marks on them , mould on the window frames and windows needed a good clean wash basin waste did not retain water and slowly ran away with the plug in place. would have been nice to have a shower cubicle and not a shower over the bath, maybe other rooms offer this. We booked a deluxe room with a double bed I know what a double or single bed is, ours was two singles pushed together what is that called how about uncomfortable and not what i requested. Should i have complained yes but really SHOULD i have to do that. The trip was great the hotel was not! Sadly disappointed in view of the cost.

The hotel is very cosy and has a nice albeit small swimming pool, we didn’t eat at the hotel so cannot comment on food the general cleanliness was good . The room itself was below a standard expected for the price paid but as I booked through hotels.com , I think I paid a premium, the room was very hot so made it uncomfortable to sleep even though I turned the radiators off. The bed itself was very comfortable nice thick mattress and two comfy pillows, the worst part was the morning , shower was stone cold so could not use, some of the furniture in the room had seen it’s best days ie the desk and side tables ,there was also some nasty stains on the carpet, but as this is a new forest hotel with lots of hikers staying , I guess that is to be expected, there is plenty of parking and hotel is well situated for exploring the new forest. Based on the price I will give this hotel a rating of 3 stars .

There was no lift. Fixtures and fittings came off the wall (apparently held on by good luck and little else)in our room! TV remote originally didn't work. Replaced by very helpful staff. No phones in the room so needed a long and meandering walk through the hotel to reception to report problems. No less than 6 corridor doors needed to be opened (whilst navigating suitcases through the hotel to reach a room very much at the distant end of the building. Somebody obviously had a 'job lot' in corridor doors at some point!!

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with very friendly staff. We enjoyed lunch at the inn next door & soaked up the beautiful location of the hotel before check in. The reception staff were lovely on our check in & even provided a big bag of treats for our dog which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately once we got in our room, we were met with a broken bath, a leaking shower head, scribble marks & scuff marks all over the walls & doors, dirty marks on the bed linen & a dirty ear bud on the floor! Also our room was next to a staff door & they smoked right outside our window which meant we couldn't open our windows to get some fresh air in. Its such a shame. Lots of small things accumilated to such a disappointment. The hotel itself was so relaxing & the location was the best, so it makes us sad that our room was really not in a good state & because of that we really cant warrant paying to stay again.

We stayed for my wife’s birthday. The place needs some serious Maintenance and there were never any staff around. The ‘drift’ restaurant is chaotic. They had run out of many things. I had pre-arranged for the kitchen to make us a birthday cake. Despite me clarifying that we wanted a chocolate cake we got a jam sponge cake which we were all disappointed with.

Check in was quick and receptionist was professional. Bedroom was clean. Comfortable bed. Kettle/tea and coffee. Quiet.Bathroom needed updating. the shower head stand was broken but the shower was a good water pressure and clean.Pub/restaurant on site. Very attentive service. Food was good and a good variety on their wine list.Check out could have been better. The receptionist needed help and took a while to correct our bill. However the lady who helped was very quick and professional. Would return.

Like: location, ambience. Dislike: 1. even though rooms were available when we arrived at 10:30 we were not allowed in until 11:00. 2. The food was very good but service was dreadful - at dinner we waited nearly an hour for our food and it took 2 hours from arriving to our dessert order to be taken - At breakfast, we waited over 30 mins for the cooked breakfast and had to remind the waitress. It then arrived immediately but was dried up. 3. Even though we left the 'please make up room' notice outside the room nearly all day it was never done.

Well, firstly the location is Stunning and the stay here was part of our anniversary celebrations. Dining staff were excellent, however booking in did go well receptionist quite rude. I know we were 30mins early, were told to "go away and comeback at three", okay, but found that quite rude could have been delivered better surely. Restaurant was freezing cold with guests eating food in coats No towels in room to shower in the morning and nobody at reception until after 8am so couldn’t complain or get towels as I had to leave by 7 am ended up stripping the bed to dry in bed clothes I left a note at reception with my business card for someone to cal me to discuss my complaint but no response Won’t go back

I had stayed at this hotel before and it was so good this was a last minute return trip. Set in the middle of the forest you wake up to the animals trotting past the hotel. The staff are lovely. There is a small pool so take your costume. This will not be our last trip.

Lovely spot. Pleasant helpful staff. Nice decor and ambience. Lovely garden and lounge areas. Had to go to the building next door for meals which might not be ideal in the rain. Few issues with keeping the window open, noise from the road and shower wasn’t the best but non of this really mattered. Really enjoyed our stay.

This was our third trip back to the hotel. It's a great place in the middle of the new forest, peaceful and rural. In the morning there are quite often horses and donkeys outside the hotel. The staff are all friendly and polite too, and there is a lovely little pool as well. This won't be our last stay.

Very nice hotel with nice surrounding area with woods, horses and cows walking free. Hotel is centrally located in new forest, very friendly stuff, good breakfast and lovely gardens around to sit and enjoy drink and relax. Beds were very comfortable, room a bit small, but bathroom was big with bath and good powerful shower. Would be very happy to return.

Most if the staff were lovely. The hotel its self is tired, some parts unkept. This is a shame as the location is perfect, very good for young children and was nice to see dogs welcome. The whole place needs dusting and in the case if our room it needed a re vamp but it was not dirty. The food was very average and the breakfast was disappointing. My last point is the swimming pool was more of a plunge pool only big enough for toddlers and baby’s, not adults.

The staff were very friendly. The food was good but the restaurant was cold both in the morning and evening. The box of biscuits supplied was already opened and a biscuit removed. The area is lovely and easy walks straight from the door. The pool is not really suitable for swimming. Car charging was a bonus.

This hotel could be so much better. The receptionist was lovely and the area excellent but the building is incredibly neglected with stained carpets throughout. Worse though was the restaurant with an already limited menu limited to almost non-existent because someone had forgotten to order food for the kitchen to prepare. This was exacerbated by the restaurant manager squeakily repeating that it was not his fault 🙄 That said, breakfast was a pretty sorry affair with a poorly prepared and tasteless full English.

we came here to stay for the beautiful views and we deffo had that out our window was stunning but had to hold the window open with a lucazade bottle unfortunately but we made a solution , unfortunately we had the room right by the opening to the next rooms so the door was slamming all night but that’s just pot luck , the service wasn’t great either no one around at times the bar doesn’t take cash either so we couldn’t get a drink as we only had cash on us , the pool was cold but we had it to our selves and soon warmed up , no one really explained anything so we also got locked out as no one explained the key pad properly at half 12 at night , when we came to baths my partner wanted a shower but the cold came out the shower the hot came out the tap so had to have a bath , the water was badly hot so the were also warm , room service no existing and felt anxious to ask for anything , it’s a shame really as we love the new forest and got engaged there on our stay a shame we didn’t have the trip we wanted for this

The breakfast menu was good and it was possible to choose variations from what was available. The room was clean and comfortable. Property was nice and surrounding area. The restaurant was nice inside, but the chef always got the order wrong, even from his own menu! .(leaving things off!)..on one occasion, the pre-starter and starter came out together, then 2 minutes later the mains came out too! Leaving a table full of food at once! The breakfast the next morning, was not good at all , deep fried hash brown! Yuk! ...bacon not seen a grill! Yuk! Tomato straight out the fridge! Other guests had the same problem! One girl with very long dark hair should have had her hair tied back whilst serving food, not good!....unless the chef has changed we will not be returning!

I was incredibly impressed with this hotel. The value for money was excellent. I booked a family room for five of us (3 kids) - which in itself is unusual to be able to fit 5 in one room! - when we were visiting Paulton Park. I didn’t do much research and we were all very pleasantly surprised with how good it was.. the family friendly welcome, facilities, and amenities were great. So lovely to give the kids a goody bag on arrival. Easter egg hunt such a great touch, the bouncy castle was a huge plus which the kids loved and the swimming pool was lovely and warm. We had dinner and breakfast at The Drift Inn and it was excellent. The staff were all lovely. Highly recommend.

Staff were very nice. Rooms need updating and cleaning properly as we found balls of hair and some debris here n there!
