Beautiful property, great staff, nearby shops (touristy) and restaurant options. Live music at lobby bar was great and roof-top pool and bar is nice set-up. On the down-side, $40 daily resort fee for unused amenities - shuttle to the beach, paddle boards, fitness center, etc and $25 a day for self-park ($32 for valet) ends up being extra $75 a day after taxes.

This is a beautiful hotel within the Sandestin resort village, and one of the newer properties. It's only a few steps from Baytowne wharf shopping and dining. The highlight of this property for us was the rooftop pool and bar - very nice and great service, with eye-popping views of the Gulf of Mexico as well as the back bay.

I absolutely loved this property! I did not realize that the propety was not located within a close walking distance to the beach (40-45 min walk) however, there is a shuttle that will take you to the beach. To be honest, i actually enjoyed the pool at the hotel more than going to the beach. The rooftop pool is heated was very relaxing. There is a bar and they even had a dj on Saturday night. The staff was so friendly, professional and very accommodating. The property is beautiful and within walking distance to all of the local shops and restaurants. I would definitely come back.

Excellent hotel, elegant in an understated way, spotless clean, the staff is extremely friendly and profesional. There is self-parking option now which wasn’t available last time we stayed at Effie, great for those who do a lot of exploring around and are in and out of the hotel often. Great rooftop pool with amazing views and equally amazing cocktails available at the adjacent bar. Will definitely return.

Hotel was beautiful! Be careful you get a good rate on the room, but from there it goes up, resort fee $40.00 a day Valet parking $35.00 a day Self$25.00 in non convenient lot. They try to talk you into an upgrade the minute you walk in. Property was gorgeous ,rooms large and roomey ,bed exquisite, ambiance terrific. Not on the beach, shuttle will take you every thirty minutes, long hot walk to the shore. Pool was roof top, again very very nice. Absolutely no shade, not one umbrella ,you baked. In the lobby cold water and lemonade available and cookies at 5pm. Located near lots of shopping and restaurants on 98.

Another beautiful and memorable stay at the Effie! It is luxurious and a multitude of amenities. However, there were some notable disappointments in comparison to our last stay. We couldn’t check in early as hoped. Actually, we were told it would be ready for check in by 4. It wasn’t. At 15 minutes past I inquired at the desk and was told it was ready, though I hadn’t been notified. Last year they provided a free bottle of wine. Not this year. We weren’t offered “complimentary checkin drinks” or “daily fresh cookies,” unless they count the cucumber-water station. There was hair in the shower which means it was hastily cleaned. We never received room service. We had to ask for clean towels. The rooftop pool, beautiful grounds and walkability to restaurants and shopping is what brings us back. We took advantage of the four hour bike “free” rental unlike last time and we both loved the experience. They have tennis /pickle ball courts but we didn’t use them. I wish the roof top pool was restricted to adults only all the time. The adult only hours on Fri and Sat night was far more enjoyable than the kiddie pool that it became otherwise. Pool food and drinks are very good but pricey. Service at the pool is very good. We enjoyed the DJ during adult only time. Be aware, there are tons of required fees on top of the room rate and taxes. Even a one dollar a day “charity donation,” that is never mentioned. It just shows up on the bill. Valet and self parking are too close in price.

Very nice hotel. Front desk staff at checkin was great. The rest if the time very unhelpful. Also, wasnt told we had to redquest our room to be serviced a day before by 3 pm so had to ask for towels every day and they only remade the bed one time after we called numerous times. Good restaurant. Nice rooftop pool. Good access to beach.

Poor housekeeping. Sofa was dirty on arrival. Not cleaned after previous stay. Water leaked through the bathroom roof. Maintenance had to be called in fix it at 1030 pm.

We had a great week at the Effie. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening and the food was so good! The staff from reception to bar were all really friendly and helpful, and were responsive to any issues we had. The only issues we had were that the drain in our shower smelled during use for the first few days, until it was resolved. The toilet paper in our room was not replenished when our room was serviced several times, but again this was resolved after requesting it at reception. One of the mornings we ordered breakfast to our room and although it was very good it was unfortunately not hot, I believe it was a busy morning. Another thing to be aware of is that during the week the bars and restaurants both in the hotel and the Baytowne Wharf area are not open very late.

The reason with my lower rating has to do with the bedding, noises in our room and our AC cooling. The bed was hard as a rock and pillows very uncomfortable. The cooling of our room at night our entire stay was sub-par. I kept turning it lower each night and still woke up warm in our room. I addressed these issues with staff with no concern. On a side note, the property was beautiful, clean and right by an area with shops and dining options.

I think the service and clinginess and establishment was high caliper. A very nice establishment. The only problem I had was the room did not dehumidifier very well. It was very humid inside. Causing the front door to stick pretty bad. Room 513. Otherwise, the service was outstanding, and the restaurant was wonderful. Very clean and good products available.

I used to love Hotel Effie under the previous ownership because the hotel used to offer special welcome cookies and whatnot. It felt for inviting, now it legit just feels like a business. I don’t like the fact that the rooms have no microwave which I feel like could be rather essential.

The hotel overall was amazing....you get breafast and bike service with your stay...what i didnt like was...i paid for oceanview a i got partial view which was pool view...when I inquired about it...was told as long as you can see the ocean..it was oceanview..i didnt think that was fine but oh well...the beds was horrible but the rooms were clean..

This was my second stay at Hotel Effie. It will be my last. I went down to the lobby to buy a 12 oz can of Coke this morning and they charged me $7.62, this is absolutely insane! Rented a couple of chairs and an umbrella on the beach and it was $58 for about 3 hours. At 5pm, we were told they were about to put the chairs up for the day. We had other parties on either side of us that were literally 4 inches away. Real 4 or 5 star hotels do not operate in this manner. Beds are hard. Pillows are bad. $25 a night for self parking. I am never going back to this hotel.

So unfortunate, such a beautiful property and so poorly managed. I have stayed here a few times and each time it was great. However this time was terrible. I hate to speak negatively but some of the staff were terrible and poorly trained. I had an issue with the front desk girl, I asked to speak to a manger, her first response to me was “what is the problem” Not, hi I’m joe how can I help or assist you. She was rude arrogant and passive. She didn’t even listen to my concerns, she simply criticized me and dismissed me, turned her back on me and then walked away. I was left dumbfounded. I was in a wet bathing suit, went back upstairs to change and come back down to speak to someone else and found her in the lobby kicking out other guests. After speaking to the food and beverage manager who did hear my concerns, she apologized and I went to bed, because it was now 11pm. 20 mins after being in bed, there was a knock at my door. She had actually called the police on me. Please let me be very clear, I never screamed, never called anyone a name, Nor cursed at ANYONE. The police said she didn’t know why she was there other than, she was asked to relay their eviction process. I was shocked. Any one in hospitality or management should be trained on resolving a conflict and de-escalation. her approach was crass, rude and unprofessional to say the least. After being there 5 days and spending thousands I will never stay there again. Valet was great, pool staff & cleaning were Awsome

Mixed reviews…Upon arrival the receptionist tried to make us pay for the bill that was already paid via Expedia. We have VIP status and were to receive upgrade if available and a free bottle of wine. Nothing was mentioned about an upgrade and we never received the free bottle of wine. The first night we ate at the hotel restaurant Ovide. The food was awful. Even the biscuit and butter was bad. The service was not good either. The hotel has cookies in the lobby at 8:00. They were burnt and you could break a tooth trying to eat it. On a positive note, the hotel is pretty. Our breakfast at Ovide was wonderful and the waitress then was great. The receptionist at checking out was also great!

The property is top notch. Service at the roof top bar is slow. I waited 45 minutes for a salad. Service at the main restaurant is good. Location could be closer to the beach, or even on the beach. There is a shuttle to the beach.

Horrible check in . Waited an hr . Was told “ theres 1 house keeper for the whole floor /?? hotel and we are fully booked “ waited in the lobby . Literally had to walk around to find some water to drink . Arrived super tired after a long drive . More like a 1-2 star welcome experience. Less than average . Would rate it overall 5/10 . Pple who came in after us were checked in , i dont know if it was due to the balcony room . Its not like i booked this place last minute maybe 1-2 weeks before . The lady was apologetic did give me a keycard 30 mins into the wait then the other check in lady seemed to have said something and then she took it back and gave us a lower floor cos it was quicker . Please ensure rooms are ready if you have guests arriving would be my suggestion. beach is a drive away but theres a shuttle . We just drove , super crowded beaches ,like thousands cos it was spring break . 1 restaurant. Its one of those half baked so called 5 star Marriott experiences which is an average 5/10 if youre used to international 5 star hotels .

Beautiful pet friendly hotel, nestled in a safe gated community. Friendly staff made the stay enjoyable. Prime location between Destin and Panama City. When I come back to Destin, I will be staying in the Effie again.

Check in and rooms were nice. Restaurant and coffee spot were both eh. Food was cold twice. Bartender was doubling as host and server, so he forgot about our drinks. Overall okay, just expected much better from a nice hotel.

The property was very nice. It’s convenient they have bus shuttles to take you around. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the complimentary bike ride around the property and playing pickle ball. I love that there’s so much fun activities to do. The only thing that we had a not so good experience with was the restaurant located in the hotel. The food and drinks were over priced for the quality that was served. Other than that, I look forward to going back.

We loved our stay. The staff and amenities are wonderful (wouldn’t recommend the breakfast or restaurant, but the bars & coffee shop are great). Loved the pool, would’ve liked easier access to the beach outside of shuttle hours. I loved the spa; it feels very upscale. Cleanliness and convenience 10/10

Beautiful property, clean, pet friendly and helpful staff. The property grounds are well kept, love the flowers in the hotel lobby, smells amazing and lemonade and cookies are extra touch. We ate at Ovide Restaurant last night and had chicken pumpkin tortellini….delicious!!! 5⭐️
