Patterdale Hotel

Good location for a night, easy to be able to have dinner, breakfast was cold (toast) and the coffee tasted soapy, enough parking available, the room was not really clean (dust, walls broken, mold) it is a bit dated and the average age is over 60. The location is very good. The music entertainment (Mikey T.) was not really our taste, however he did his best. There was no warm welcome from the receptionist, she was a bit snappy.

Hotel itself was ok, very outdated and the rook very small and needs a lick of paint, the wooden corridors are something from the 80s, reception staff is asked some questions and the lady continued with what she was doing and kept ignoring me. Mattress on the bed was flimsy and not comfortable at all woke up with back ache. Breakfast half cooked was OK Pros of hotel, entertainment of an older gentleman in the bar he was lovely and sang well.

However, The building is aging and in need of investment The staff are, by and large friendly but there are some members which have clearly lost their passion for the industry - slap dash service and dirty trainers. The food could be improved drastically - this is a restaurant not a fast food outlet. We have been twice now and both times we have had a three course meal in less than 25 minutes - cooked on mass with little love. This really could be elevated to the next level very quickly but unfortunately at the minute is more faulty towers than fine dining. Whilst I appreciate the value at £23 for the food, that is no excuse for the service level. Please do not think this review is spiteful in anyway, it really is meant with the best intention and to be constructive as this hotel really should be amazing. It is not all bad, the location, the garden area out front, the price point, and the beer - serves a right good pint of larger. The young lady on reception even remembered our previous trip (last year) which was nice. Just nip a few behaviours in the butt, up the appearance of one or two and really consider the restaurant - you have a right gem on your hands if considered correctly. Think about this, we left one night early simply because we couldn't face another round from the restaurant for our evening meal - we travelled 2.5hours home instead.

A charming Lake District hotel with good food and excellent service, with free parking. The bedrooms were on the small side and so was the bathroom. The wifi was poor in the bedroom.

Beautiful location with hill walking straight from the door. Hotel clean, good food and friendly staff. Excellent value for money and also entertainment one of the nights.

the food was good parking a proplem when you game back after being out all food menu needs to be changed not everyone wonts a free course meal

I had an enjoyable stay at the 'Patterdale Hotel' as it allowed me to get warm and dry when the conditions outside were atrocious, so bad we all lost TV reception but this was no fault of the hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. The hotel was completely full over the weekend and parking was difficult, I used the one across the road without issues. In general the décor and furnishings are dated but still functional, don't expect a Premier Inn. The entertainment in the bar on Saturday night seemed to drive everyone away so I suspect that it may soon change. I only ate breakfast at the hotel (perfectly adequate if again a bit dated) so can't comment on the rest of the menu. Note that no dogs are allowed inside at all, an unusual policy for this location.

They gave me room num 221 which was dampy. Asked to changed the room which was not done till next day. Because of the room I was ill for next 2 days. Was continuously sneezing. After requesting 4 time they changed the room.

This hotel is indeed a 2 star. Room is outdated, the bathroom was dirty and there was a smell of urine. The walls are paper thin and there were only 2 sockets available for us. The breakfasts buffet was ok for a 2star hotel, the personnel was friendly and this together with the good location are the only positive things I can say about my stay. I got charged for a 3 star hotel, not worth it.

The breakfast was good, but the staff were very quick to remove your plates. The reason I did not give this five stars was because the noise at night, as it was next to the main road and the dated decor. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay at a very reasonable cost.

Standard hotel, rooms are basic and functional, though in need of refurbishment in some areas. Having said that, there is a nice, lived-in feel about the place, so maybe it doesn't need too much gentrification. Staff are extremely polite, helpful and efficient, much more so than in most more-expensive hotels I have visited. Dinner was a little bit disappointing, breakfast was better! Overall, it's a decent place to stay if you are active and looking for somewhere to stay where you won't feel out of place coming in muddy and wet.

The staff were Brilliant. We were given what could be described as a standard room when we arrived. When we showed reception picture of room which was booked they changed room to room on picture immediately. It was mentioned that it should not have been advertised as a superior room. Hotel was perfect for a warm , quiet welcome after a day walking. Staff were fantastic.

Lovely, welcoming hotel. Very approachable receptionist. All staff were very friendly and accomodating. Will definitely recommend and will return. Great walks and scenery on doorstep! Beautiful pub called the white lion Inn 2 min walk away, with very friendly atmosphere. We had delicious hot breakfast at Patterdale Hotel!

Very friendly staff. Warm and welcoming people and building. Buffet breakfast tastes and plentiful. Stayed for a wedding in Glenridding. A very pleasant 15 minute walk.

We loved our time at the hotel. We stayed mid week for four nights. Plenty of beautiful walking routes from the hotel. We did not use the car at all. Our bed room was lovely. We were able to make our own warm drinks. The breakfast was a real treat. The three course meal on an evening was fabulous with plenty of choice. The kitchen was able to cater for my husband who eats gluten free. They produced a gluten free menu every day and there was plenty of choice. The staff are very welcoming and the hotel has a homely feel to it. Drinks from the bar on the evenings. We will definitely come back. We had an amazing time.
