it was a great base for our walking holiday with the dog and we were well looked after. the brasserie food was excellent and breakfast kept us going all day on the fells. The spa was a welcome place to relax and recharge the body afterwards too.

Stunning location, the quiet part of the Lakes. Amazing lounges , great views. Five star spa , within walking distance of The Lakes distillery, what more could you want ? Definitely recommend and we look forward to staying there again. Very friendly and helpful staff too.

We spent a one night stay at Armathwaite Hall Hotel and immediately wished it was for longer...The reception staff were exceptionally welcoming, indeed all staff were friendly and helpful. Fortunately, the Lake View resturant was open for dinner during our stay; the food was delightful, well presented and perfectly proportioned. The spa was lovely, especially, the outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the gardens; which seemed a big hit with all of the guests...Overall we had a wonderful, restful stay and we fully intend to return in the very near future.

The room was really comfortable with a huge bed, a separate dressing room, a sofa and both separate bath and shower. The seats on the balcony reclined and looked out towards the trees and the lake. We had an hour to try out the Spa and loved the outside hot tub. Only wish we were staying longer to try out all the facilities and walk around the grounds

Beautiful hotel in Lake District. The rooms were spacious and spotless having all the facilities you nerd for a comfortable stay. The bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a broad selection of food. The evening meal was superb. Beautifully prepared food with good choice. We spent time in the spa we which was excellent and loved outdoor pool. Loved our stay.

We have just returned from a beautiful weekend here. The whole experience from start to finish has been nothing but perfect. The garden view suite was stunning comfortable and relaxing and had everything you need. We dined at the grill in the evening which was delicious and the staff were so attentive. We visited the spa twice I loved how you could go whenever you wanted without needing to book. The infinity pool was lovely and relaxing! Breakfast was also delicious with lots of choice. We can't wait to return in the future. Thank you!

We had a wonderful night away at the Armathwaut Hall Hotel. The staff were fantastic, the setting is stunning and the spa is amazing, including the staff who will bring you drinks in the outdoor Jacuzzi. Can't recommend this place enough!

Decent staff, stay and property - the outdoor heated pool area was the best space but unfortunately the tattiest with missing tiles and in need of a little extra care.

Welcomed with a friendly smile and a complimentary drink. We felt comfortable as soon as we walked in. We were asked if we wanted our luggage taking to our room, we declined and opted to take it ourselves. Bad mistake! Finding the room turned into an impossible task, we had to ask for help. There were doors and stairs everywhere but unfortunately, not many signs or directions. Apart from this initial mistake, we had a fabulous two night stay. The staff couldn't do enough for you. The service was excellent and the hall was spectacular. The food was cooked to perfection at breakfast and dinner times. We're pescatarians and meals were easily altered to our requirements when they contained meat. The spa was heavenly and the massages we had were sublime! We went on a short walk to the lake following a route given to us at reception. The only mishap was the route didn't mention that we were OK to enter private grounds at a gate that was locked after crossing the road after the bridge. We entered through a gap in the hedge. This aside the scenery around and across the lake was spectacular. The grounds are very well maintained and we even came across pigs near the wildlife park. All told, we had an excellent break and it made celebrating my 60th birthday a memorable occasion

Room was clean and well presented but dated and felt very basic for the price. Went to The Grill restaurant - food was average and overpriced. We had breakfast included - buffet continental/ fresh cooked hot breakfast. Well I say fresh - bacon was rock hard as well as the black pudding - could have been a lot better. Staff didn't seem bothered overall about service. Didn't particularly feel welcomed (apart from check in). Drinks also expensive for what you get. Overall a good hotel but definitely not 4*

The hotel was way too hot in all areas. It wasn’t a summers day but all radiators were on. Our room was unbearably hot even once we turned the radiator and towel rails off. The staff were pleasant, and I felt sorry for them as they were all facing a barrage of complaints about a multitude of things from food waiting time to undercooked/ overcooked food / room temperatures etc. On a positive although the spa is small for the size of the hotel and advertisement as the best spa hotel in the Lakes the staff were excellent in this area. Sadly this needs an injection of good management , more staff and quality training to bring it to a four star stay !!!

We had a lovely stay in room 148 a Garden view suite with had a great size terrace to enjoy the sun and gardens.

Amazing stay! The hotel is set in the most amazing grounds. Our room was a garden suite which was modern and comfortable. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will most certainly stay again.

Lovely old house but too cold for us. Hugh has a heart problem & found the restaurant cold & we both found our bedroom cold / radiator came on one day after I complained but was off again the next day. We didn’t like the creaky old lift either- I trapped my finger once!

I’ve been to Armathwaite Hall for lunch or afternoon tea many times and always thought how nice it would be to stay and was not disappointed. I was booking Sunday lunch and as it’s our 40th wedding anniversary this month decided to stay over and we were delighted to receive an upgrade to a deluxe lake view room. The room was big with a really comfy king size bed and sitting area where we turned the chairs round to enjoy the relaxing lake view. The food was superb as always and we enjoyed some relaxing time in the spa too. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful and are a credit to Armathwaite Hall. We had a lovely relaxing stay which was a great start to our anniversary celebrations.

Absolutely superb from start to finish. The property itself is fantastic - traditional and characterful but with contemporary modern facilities. The spa is excellent and attention to detail second to none. Food was delicious from breakfast to evening meal. The staff are exemplary and special thanks to Fiona on front desk for the upgrade which really made our stay that bit extra special. Thankyou. Will definitely return soon

Wow, what can I say… thank you so much Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa for making our last night of our honeymoon so special. If you want a luxury nights stay with superb service, food and comfort then I couldn’t recommend this hotel anymore. Thank you for all the special touches to make our honeymoon special. It was so appreciated!

Spa is terrific, our initial room allocated was very small but the upgrade was excellent. Some staff were well trained but unfortunately some other staff in dining room were not quite up to scratch.

Lovely stay celebrating my partners birthday, The place and grounds are stunning, We arrived and had a complementary room upgrade which was very appreciated room was gorgeous! We headed to the spa which had plenty of options there in, we enjoyed a drift away massage which was lovely, we ate in both the grill and the lakeview restaurant both were superb, breakfast was also plenty of options and delicious, Liam who served us was brilliant at his job, Akils cocktails are superb! They brought out a cake and sang to my partner which was a nice touch what we didnt expect,We also did archery with Kevin who was fantastic and good company, we were also given free passes to the wildlife park just a stonesthrow from the property which was amazing, the staff rrally do go above and beyond to make your stay perfect we cant wait to go back again

A wonderful unique hotel with wonderful staff.

It is a beautiful hotel and all the staff was fantastic!! The room was amazing! Fiona at the front desk went out of her way to welcome us. A perfect person to start our hotel stay. Very informative and welcoming! Our dinner and breakfast host Manjo (I probably have spelled his name wrong) was GREAT! My wife has a dairy intolerance and he made sure at night everything was dairy free and he remembered the next morning. All the staff who waited on us we very pleasant, smiling and friendly. You have a great team at this hotel. Please thank everyone for us.

I would like to have seen a sign for ‘Hotel’,& car park,… the only sign from main road was for The Spa!!!

This hotel is excellent in many ways but not perfect. The staff are efficient, friendly and helpful. The location is also superb. However it had one element that lets it down - the Lakeview Restaurant. The food is good quality and well presented but desperately overpriced. We appreciate fine dining and understand that you pay for quality but this misses the mark by a broad margin. £6 for a portion of carrot or peas is hard to justify particularly when the main courses are not even fine dining portions. My starter of smoked mackerel comprised three pieces all smaller than my little finger and a lot of rocket and a couple of dots of horseradish. £12! Sorry not good. The Grill located at the other side of the hotel is far better value for money and quality of food.
