Super 8 by Wyndham Brookings

After a long day of driving, I was looking forward to some time in the hot tub, but unfortunately, it was broken. No security lock on our room door (1/2 the hardware was missing).

This was a very comfortable inconvenient day. This hotel is clean. The staff is very friendly and we love that the pool stayed open until 11 PM.

The pool was out of order and the worker at the front desk was not helpful when I asked to get a refund

The room was spacious but when i checked the room, the bath tub was dirty like they just rinsed it out. But we only stayed one night. They do not have an elevator which we had to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs.

Overall .. not very clean or secure . The girls at the front were very kind , but seemed annoyed with our concerns . The outside security door was never locked the entire time we were there . We were there for four nights and they gave us an end room by the staircase .. so everyone walking up the stairs could be heard in our room . The pool had to much chlorine in it that it actually took 2 baths to get the smell off. We had a king bed and no king pillows .. seems like part of getting a king . We come to Brookings often and will most likely not stay here again .

The room was nice although there was a lot of confusion with pet policy for a service animal, because pets are “only allowed in certain rooms”. Even Service animals? Yes. Only allowed in certain rooms. The parking lot was NOT safely maintained and was INCREDIBLY ICY. Clean and comfortable.

We have stayed here many times in the past and it had always been a great experience. Over the years this place has been allowed to fall into disrepair. There are many examples but the most glaring, one of the chairs in our room was torn and someone had repaired it with duct tape and worse, the duct tape was poorly applied and had pulled loose and was hanging from the chair. In the pool area the hot tub had obviously been patched, and one of the panels on the wall was heavily rusted. Just a few examples. Other than that the service was fantastic everybody was friendly the breakfast was set up early and well maintained.

We got in late and appreciated that the pool area was open until 11:00. For a very affordable price, we thought the hotel was clean, breakfast was generous and pool area very well kept.

Dated pool and hot tub. Rust in bathroom. Deciently clean and close to everything you could need. Some of the staff was great. Some were difficult to deal with.

Kind staff!! Very nice new beds!!! Overall, the hot tub, pool area and rooms, hallways, bathrooms are all pretty run down.

The room smelled very musty and when i turned the light in the bathroom one a bug bug was crawling on the floor. Otherwise the stay was ok

An area in the hallway covered with sheets makes one question what is under there. Bathroom needs updates. Lots of rust on the doorframe made it look terrible.

The room was welcoming and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast had a number of food choices.

The room had a damp odor, so we ran the dehumidifier that was in the room (never saw a hotel room with a dehumidifier before). We ran the bathroom fan too and eventually it smelled better or we got used to it. When I went to sleep, I felt something crawling in my arm. We jumped up and found the bug. Kind of looked like a young cockroach. My shower in the morning was lukewarm. There was a recliner that was dirty and bad condition. And all this for a total of $142/night!

My room and the property were very clean and the front desk staff member was pleasant and proficient at her position. It's clear the management has worked to update the hotel, especially the linens, fixtures, and decor in the room. The bathroom in my room still needed updating; the sink drained very slow and the sink knob was challenging to push and pull. There was rusting on the bathroom door frame. Since this is an older hotel, there's no sound barrier between the room door and hallway, so you can hear all voices in the hallway and every door slam. My main concern with this hotel was the lack of security. When I checked in and first arrived to my room, all of the room doors were propped open with door stops. I'm not sure why this was, but as a single woman, I immediately checked every corner of my room thoroughly, as anyone could have entered the space prior to my arrival and placed a hidden camera, suspicious package, damaged something, etc. I also arrived back to the hotel after 11pm both nights of my stay and both nights, the main entrance was unlocked and no staff member was present at the desk monitoring the traffic. They were likely in a back room and there's likely a security camera they can see, but having that human presence at the desk makes a difference for late night security when anyone can enter.

Room was in shabby condition, chair peeling and falling apart, rusty metal in bathroom and the previous occupants clearly chain smoked innit. Nothing was done when the smoking was brought up. We weren’t able to be moved and had to endure without as much as an apology.

Room serviced every day. Front desk staff friendly and super helpful.

Excellent service and clean hotel. Definitely recommend when in Brookings!!! We will be back!!!

Room had a strong musty stinky odor, assuming due to moisture as there was a dehumidifier running in the room. Turned on the water in the sink and 2 fruit flies flew out of the drain. Would not stay at this property again.

Nice and quiet

Staff at front desk was great. First room we got had no heat. Front desk staff came to check and then moved us to another room. The second room had no working tv. Again the front desk staff came to check but was unable to get it fixed. We could have tried another room but at this point we said we would just stay. Other than that, everything was okay.

Overnight stay on longer road trip. Everything was fine with the exception of the Heat/AC unit not functioning correctly. Luckily, we got by without it.

Welcoming staff. Clean. Nice breakfast. Stayed on a Sunday night when it wasnt busy - on a busy night it will be a little noisy with thin walls and doors. Overall a good balue for the money.

My favorite part about this stay was the bed and pillows. The best nights of sleep were on their beds! I also liked they had quite a few options to choose from for breakfast, including healthy options.

Very nicely updated Super 8. The bed was very comfortable.

Fire alarm went off a couple times, heard some kid was pulling the alarm, could hear children running up and down the halls late in evening, adults hanging in hall just talking.

Tv was poor reception and very limited channel choice.

Slept in the recliner, loved being able to put my feet up.

Front staff was super nice! Ran out of coffee in the morning and the manager happily and promptly made a new fresh thermos full.

Quick check in, follow up texts from front desk saying to let them know if we needed anything during our stay.

Friendly people clean room you know I've never had a complain about is the AC quit working and ask for a fan and they didn't do anything about that

Would have been great if they didn’t charge us twice for the room. We booked with hotels.com and the super8 charged us also.

Convenient location right off I-29, easy to get to, not far from where I was going to in Brookings, SD.

Convient off the interstate; clean, well-kept property; used the pre check-in process and we were in our room shortly after we arrived...

Was easy access from highway. Plenty of places to get food and fuel. The room was very clean and comfortable. Would stay there again.

Easy to get to off the interstate, across the street from the event center. Safe area. Updated paint/decor, bedding, carpet. Bathroom sink and vanity were dated, but clean. Overall pretty clean facility. Breakfast has omlettes, sausage, cereal, toast, muffins, waffles, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee. Clean dining area, pretty good food. Beds ok comfort wise, middle of the road. I've slept in worse and better. For the price it's a good option, especially if going for an event at the swiftel center.

I have stayed at this Super 8 property many times in the last 20 or so years. Always, it is extremely clean and convenient on and off I-29. Several dining options are within walking distance, and a Cenex gas station is next door. The BEST place to stay near Sioux Falls!

Property is located right near a Applebees. Walking distance. Easy access, clean and reasonable.

Clean and very nice for a Super 8. They ran out of breakfast but there was a big bus of kids who were hungry. She did what she could to restock.

Breakfast eggs were terrible the rest of the breakfast was fine.

Lots of kids ---verey noisy but they did quiet down at 10:00. Breakfast had pancakes but not syrup for them.. Limited choices.

Everything was perfect for us! We only needed a place to sleep for one night! Breakfast was great! Everything appeared to be clean and well taken care of! Would definitely recommend!

The breakfast was terrible. The omelet tasted like rubber, the sausage was very dry.
