Leonardo Hotel Sheffield

There were a few niggles that led to our stay being less good than I would expect. The bar was very poorly stocked. I heard numerous guests ask for * Stella - out of stock * Prosecco - out of stock * Gin and tonic - no normal tonic only a couple of flavoured ones. * Crisps or nuts - guests can only buy them from a vending machine in reception. Why? A lady ordered white wine because there was no prosecco. She came back a few minutes later because the wine was warm and asked for ice cubes. The wine came out of a cooler so why was it warm? Are the coolers turned on? The room was fine but when I went to make a coffee I had to pull all of the coffee making gear from under a counter and then found that the kettle was too tall to fit under the taps in the bathroom. As I say, these are all niggles but when combined they do leave a bad impression.

A nice hotel but the bar was poorly stocked with drinks

Stayed for 2 nights in Nov 2024. Room was very comfortable and clean. We didn't eat in the hotel but did try the bar. Unfortunately for both nights about half of the draught drinks were not working and they had no white wine. Otherwise, good stay and would stay again.

At check in told restaurant was closed and room service unavailable (only 9.50pm). No explanation as to why. When eventually worked out overly sensitive lift security and got to room, Was presented with menu that stated Pizza and limited sandwiches were 24 hour availability. Went to reception to ask and was told - no "cleaning the oven, so won't be available until midnight" - this at 10.00 - maybe start cleaning at 2.00 am in future not at 9.00 pm!! Just a thought. When went to bar, was miraculously overcharged and nearly given a pepsi max with my spirit, that was never mentioned when ordering, and charged before being told. Took 15 minutes to get refund and the bar staff said they were short staffed, which was why no room service. Must be the bar staff cleaning the oven eh! Still £10.00 for two pot noodles was great value for food and such high quality. When went back to room discovered that bed divan not aligned, not joined and had sharp exposed "closure bolt". Easy to discover as cut my leg on it getting past bed. Not life threatening but really....... Breakfast next day was for everyone pretty disastrous. There isn't enough room to expand!! That's why its lucky to get 3 stars.

One disappointment is all 12 beer taps in the bar were empty/not working all week.

It was a disabled room (230), which in itself isn't an issue, however, the shower/wet room was a disgrace, there is black mould around the floor Was also told by email, parking was £7 at the APCOA Moor Car Park on Eyre Street, however, it charged me £17.50 for a 24 hour stay, had to walk back to the hotel, to get my token 'updated' (this was never stated it needed doing on check out), but then back at the car park, I was still charged £9 for a 24 hour stay, not £7 as per your email on the day of staying

Good location with reduced price parking for a 24hr stay at hotel at the Moor Street car park across the road. 9£/ 24hr.

Convenient, clean and staff helpful. I thought that not being able to buy a single glass of wine because deliveries had not been made - was not good. The only alternative given was to buy a bottle. Clearly if you want one glass you fine buy a bottle.

Hotel was ok,only the 24h roomservice to order food was only available around midnight.Not so nice when you are very hungry !

Lovely clean hotel, Polite friendly staff, Nice facilities, Nice clean room/bathroom. Nice & handy for the train staion. Ideally located for myself went to a gig at the Corporation.

The bathroom had a white shower curtain however this was quite mouldy at the bottom and the in side of the bath had not been well cleaned. The kettle was too dirty to use, so i had to clean it before i could use it, and then there was no decaff coffee available in the room. The beds were really comfortable however the air con was unchangeable as it said 'error' no matter what button we pressed so we had to take the key card out of the slot to sleep meaning the lights were not able to work so i stubbed my toe in the night At breakfast, the signage said there would be smoothies available, so the girls were excited but when we got there the man said they had changed the menu than morning and they didnt have them any more. I asked for gluten free bread and after 10 minutes some came out on a plate, however they only had brown seeded and so i couldnt find out what seeds it was. Finally every single juice glass was really dirty, but when i told the waiter he said it was just water stains and thye just hadnt been polished. I knew it wasnt as there was a sandy residue on them all too, so the dishwasher filter had clearly not been cleaned. The hotel was friendly and the rooms were ok, however the bathroom wasnt great and for a room advertised as a family room, the beds were not able to be spaced out much. The location was good and there was good parking too.

We arrived at the hotel at 3 pm at the time of check in. We had to queue for around 10 mins and were told that the 2 rooms we had booked were not ready and wouldn’t be available for at least an hour. They asked us to take a seat and come back in an hour and join the queue. After further discussion they offered a downgraded room without discount. We decided to take this and check in later that evening for the 2 room. The following morning we went to breakfast and the majority of hot food was cold and a lot of the dishes were empty. At one point the 3 coffee machines stopped working causing long queues. When we asked if there were any pastries we were told they had run out and at this time there was still an hour left before the breakfast finished. We also found long black hairs in the bed, so overall cleanliness wasn’t great.

Staff were great. The room was not the cleanest. Location is very good. The hotel is very Grey and not up to the usual Leonardo standard.

The room needed a real good clean there was multiple hairs in the bathroom both on the floor and in the bath. The ceiling in the bedroom had cobwebs. Have stayed at the hotel before and never had any issue but this time I feel the room I got hadn’t met the same standards as previous stays

Lovely clean & comfortable hotel. Breakfast not very good, evening meal was good however.

Room was modern with a comfy bed. Bathroom was poor. Shower head was at least 10 ft high and not adjustable, no pressure and water was freezing or scalding hot. Couldnt shower properly as no pressure to wash away shampoo. Seal around the shower door was hanging off an black mildew around edges. Looked like it hadnt been scrubbed in an age.

Good hotel, friendly and helpful staff, nice food etc. However I've marked down because of the heating situation in the executive suites. The lowest temperature setting was 19C, which is unnecessarily high and made the room uncomfortably hot. None of the settings were adjustable - so the only option was to turn off the heating completely. Which meant that during the night the room became too cold. I don't understand why you can't turn the heating below 19C. Please rectify urgently.

The only negative thing that I experienced was getting WiFi. I have no idea how to use the process that you supplied. Fortunately the man who was checking people in for breakfast was able to do it for me.

Great hotel. Would definitely stay again. Would give 4.5 stars. We were allowed an early check-in as room was ready. Very polite front desk staff. Really big room and very comfortable beds. Loses half a star as air con was difficult to work and key card was very precarious. It took about 10 attempts to get in room or lift and at first i shoulder barged the room door before realising the key didn't really work. Wouldn't be great for elderly guests.

It was really good. The only issue was that the AC kept cutting out in the middle of the night and I'd wake up because of the heat.

The hotel is kept clean and staff are very friendly, the hotel environment is nice and quiet. Very handy for town centre. I’ve used this place on several occasions for business and family/leisure stays. Plus points - loads of usb charge points in rooms. Handy for charging loads of devices at once and arms length. One negative- the room TVs don’t allow access to the hdmi port to let you use your own streaming device eg fire stick or now box. Hotel food restaurant options are basic but the breakfast is quite good for self serve.

Was a nice enough hotel problem was the air conditioning stopped working and with it being the hottest day of the year this was pretty uncomfortable, fair enough to the staff they gave us an alternative room in the ens

Shower pressure awful in Rm 409 Barely able to get a shower Was reported but nothing you could do!

The toilet seat was wonky, the thermostat barely worked, there was an awful draft sound from the window, the kettle still had water in it which smelt odd ( like old water) the tv was a shade of blue which ruined watching it, the tv would also benefit from having youtube. Overall not too impressed, the staff were great and the lobby was lovely, bed was

Check-in took 20 mins, then rooms not ready for us and many others. Reason was they we full on consecutive days and were behind on cleaning rooms. Given we arrived 1630, it wasn’t a great start. Given £20 bar voucher as we opted for a Standard room which was ready (had booked Superior). Then queued at bar for another 20. Front of house staff were let down by poor management planning.

Not a good first impression here. A lady behind the desk was berating a male receptionist, when I arrived. She couldn't be bothered to crack a smile at me whilst checking me in. We stayed for 2 nights and the TV didn't work for the entire time despite informing reception the next morning. In fairness, they did offer a free breakfast. The location is excellent, only about 9 mins walk from the station and the area is fine. Please get some comfortable pillows as they are awful.

Staff were very helpful when I first arrived. My schedule changed and I arrived three or four hours before I was due to check in and they found me a room and allowed me to go up to it early. Very helpful and saved me a few hours wandering around in the rain! I am very grateful.

Adequate and fine but Duty Manager incredibly rude at check in, no eye contact and waved us to a colleague. Poor service from an arrogant manager

Once again I had a good stay and they looked after my request of a room overlooking the main road. I am staying here again early October and hope they respect my requests again as have 4 rooms booked

Room was clean BUT kettle not useable as didnt work. TV also did not work. On my first night I ordered room service and ordered a chicken burger from the menu. The hotel charged me £7 tray service but when the food arrive it was 5 chicken wings and completely the wrong order. I was made to go down stairs with the food to reception who then ordered the correct food to be brought to the reception area! Really bad service. Apart from those things the room was clean, the bed was comfortable. There was air con and I was able to store my suitcase after checkout.

Great stay, staff super friendly, comfy bed too. Wouldn’t hesitate too stay again.

We were greeted by Antonia, in reception. She was incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming. She ensured our stay was perfect. I cannot praise her too highly. A wonderful ambassador for your hotels. The cleanliness was excellent. All staff we met were lovely. Thoroughly recommended.

The hotel were really accommodating at reallocating both our rooms on the same floor and informative and efficient.

The staff at this hotel were amazing, so friendly, helpful and supportive. It was my first time stayinf at this hotel and everything was explained thoroughly. The environment was clean and the room was of an excellent standard. Overall, i would defintely recommend this hotel to a friend, and will definitely be staying here again.

Good location

Excellent hotel, I would recommend it Staff were very helpful. Bed was comfy. Within easy walking distance of the train station.

Always my hotel if choice I'm Sheffield Never disappoints Short walk from the train station and close to the town centre. So many beautiful parks.

Sheffield City Centre has lots to see and do, and Hotel Leonardo is perfectly located for exploring! Staff was super friendly and the whole place is clean and comfortable. Recommended!

Just fab and central.

Very clean, welcoming, spacious rooms, excellent location

We used this hotel as our base when visiting the snooker world championship. It os perfectly located for the Crucible and clos to all the city centre amenities. There is safe private parking in the basement. We didn't use the hotel's food and beverage offer, so can't comment, but the room was quiet, comfortable and clean.

Decent hotel close to the city centre. Ideal for visits to Brammall Lane

The breakfast buffet was terrible! Most tables uncleared, and most food ran out. There were no plates and long queues while people waited for plates to come. Most hot food had run out and was being replenished really slowly, which is not helpful when you need to leave at a particular time. The hot food that was there seemed to be of low quality (grey bacon, cheap sausages, pale and oily potatoes). I've had many hotel buffet breakfasts, but this was by far the worst in a long time. Definitely not worth the money.

Really close to the train station and city centre. Lovely room and the breakfast one of the best I’ve seen. Lots of choice of milk, breads, bagels etc - full English tasty too.

Smart hotel within a short walk of pubs, restaurants, railway station and the crucible theatre. Excellent buffet breakfast and very comfortable rooms and attractive bar.
