Black Rock Oceanfront Resort

I’ve stayed at Black Rock Oceanfront Resort a few times now and it always blows me away!!! The views are unreal… right on the beach with some of the best scenery in BC. Rooms are super cozy, staff are so kind, and there’s tons of beautiful spots to walk nearby. It’s such a quiet & peaceful location, the definition of relaxation for me! The pool always seems to be closed when I go, but the hot tub and beach more than make up for it!!! I will absolutely be back for my next Tofino trip, as this hotel remains one of my favourites in BC! ☺️

Beautiful resort, view from room was amazing. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Free parking. Favourite was the hot tub. The room is also very nice layout and spacious. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Will visit again.

Comfortable and clean, plenty of parking, great spa and hot pool Wifi can be spotty though

We had a wonderful stay at Black Rock. The staff were amazing! The only thing are the Hot tubs have short hours. Would be nice to have an 8am-10pm schedule.

On the ocean, comfortable modern rooms, pool and hot tubs, fitness room. Easy access to W Van Isl activities. Very pleasant staff. Plan to return.

Hot tub lovely and hot, nice views. Gym needed more equipment. Beautiful room, comfortable bed and soft sheets. Oven microwave quite new and not easy to work out settings. Told at reception room had laundry, room not ready so wasted time in town which we could have used on expensive laundry if we knew room didn’t have washing machine. Wouldn’t have been hard to have central laundry even if not putting one in all rooms. Was told they would call when ready but after 5 when we got there and told ohh room just ready now..

Room was super nice, excellent bath and shower, very comfortable bed. Big balcony, fire place, kitchenette. Facility is also lovely, excellent food, hot tubs outside were a bonus. Very well maintained, friendly and helpful staff.

There were two hot tubs but only a shallow kiddie pool not suitable for adults.

The room was contemporary and spotless with all amenities needed. The staff to a person were all friendly and courteous

The overall stay was excellent and the room was very spacious and well appointed. There is no way to beat the location One issue I noted is that the bathroom and shower stall floor were not properly mopped, and were dirty enough to leave black towels, feet, and socks. The rest of the room was immaculate

The beauty of the hotel was outstanding, the view from our room was also quite beautiful, the beds and bedding we very comfortable. The disappointment was the small hot tub, as the second hot tub was out of service, the pool showers and change rooms were a bit disappointing, Also my husband noticed an ant in his suitcase… not really thinking any thing of it accept I noticed ant traps under the bedside table and again noticed additional aunts in the carpet on our departure We cannot comment on the food as we did not frequent the restaurant, the bar closed at 9pm which we thought was very early

Room was great, however, I do think a 5 day stay is too long to leave the toilet uncleaned. While towels and bedding are ok for that length of time, bathrooms and especially toilets are not. Amenities were fine, good to have restaurants on site.

Clean rooms

Very clean, great amenities, friendly, cheerful and helpful staff that were customer oriented, great location.

As soon as we entered the room we could smell a musty odour. The sheets were clean but the bedding itself clearly never get washed or replaced, especially the pillows. Pub food was delicious the food at Currents restaurant was okay and way overpriced. We enjoyed our stay due to the location but I will not come back to this hotel.

The room was lovely with a beautiful partial ocean view that we were not expecting! The staff were so lovely - I can’t stress this enough. The location was great, took some nice walks, walked down the beach to watch the sunset. If you like daily housekeeping, read the fine print. They don’t clean your room until 5 days I believe. I think you can make a request though. One concern was the cleanliness of the hotubs. There was a film of…. Skin build up? Alone the walls of the hot tub. It was actually very gross and we hopped right out. Would stay again, would not use the pools.

We had a great stay for 3 nights. Excellent view, comfortable beds, plenty fo space for everyone, and everything we needed. Having the ocean right beside us was amazing especially with kids to make short trips to explore. Only negatives - our room wasn't as clean as I would have liked (could have been vacuumed more and there was broken glass on our balcony), the exterior lighting around our unit was out so very difficult at night, and staff at the restaurant need to be more clear about wait times when ordering food. None of those would stop us from staying again.

We stayed at one of the suites at the back of the property. It was very noisy. The noise between units carried and you could hear toilets flushing, voices and footsteps.

Room is always clean and welcoming. We had the view of the forest and ocean, great mix! We ate at the restaurant for breakfast and lunch (once each) during our stay. Food is good but it is pricey, if you can buy groceries and make in your room. My only small complaint, we ordered wings and salad from the lounge and she took our room number to call when ready. They didn’t and our food was left out for us to pick up and said they didn’t have the number. Not a complaint, just annoying

The check in process was smooth and the staff was friendly, but our room was not what we expected, and no fault to the hotel the guest above us had kids and were quite noisy running and stomping around early in the morning. Because we were on the ground floor and the pathway to the pool was in front of out windows ppl could clearly see in side of the living room and bedroom, even though there’s film on the window, I went out and did a test to see.

The room felt like they did not cheap out on finishings. Everything was beautiful and over than I have experienced at other resorts, and I booked the inexpensive room. It was nice to not feel like it was inexpensive

Rooms are very clean and spacious. The large bathroom is spa-like with huge shower and separate soaker tub along with lovely toiletry amenities. If your budget permits the sea view rooms are ideal for storm watching throughout the daytime.

Very well-maintained hotel with pleasant ambience, great facilities and unbeatable location on the Pacific coast. The room feels luxurious but could do with a more ‘personal’ touch and better lighting. And our room (224) was unnecessarily dark due to close proximity to the trees.

Beautiful room and grounds. The bar was wonderful as was our hostess. The Wi-Fi was an embarrassment. Couldn’t even watch the World Series because the television kept crapping out kind of shameful for a hotel in this price range.

Great scenery of the rainforest out our window. We only wish that the room was a bit cooler as it was very hot at night. We also weren’t a fan of the French press - it would be more convenient to have a conventional coffee maker in the room.

Great view of the ocean from our room, friendly and accommodating staff, great restaurants and overall wonderful stay! My only recommendations are that the wifi could be improved as it works poorly and we could hear the neighbours quite clearly through the walls.

The resort was in a fantastic location! Right on the ocean with incredible views and within walking distance of the town. Check-in isn't until 5 pm which is quite late when you have to check-out by 10:00am. There is also no housekeeping unless you request towels even if you stay more than one night. Room wasn't ready when I arrived after 5pm. Went into one of the two on site restaurants to have dinner while I waited for my room to be cleaned. Food was fantastic! Desk staff at check-in and -out were wonderful but wait staff in the restaurant left a lot to be desired both times I dined. Disappointing for a four star resort. And then sadly, I went to my room to discover that it wasn't actually clean -wrappers on the bedside table, sock on the floor by the couch, water on the bathroom counter and full garbage cans. I felt the need to clean the room before I unpacked. After calling guest services, a gentleman came to collect the garbage. He was quite shocked that I wanted my garbage emptied before I checked out. When I let him know that it wasn't my garbage because I was just checking in, his response was "oh" like it was no big deal or normal to have to clean the room again after it was cleaned. The room was well laid out, equipped and comfortable but the bed was very soft as was the couch. Might be time for some renovations! Was a little disappointed with the pool area. Very crowded and not as luxurious as I expected. Will stay elsewhere next time.

Great hotel, great check - in. But restaurant staff wasnt flexible about seating us in the dining room at 8:35pm. Last seating is at 8:30. Long day of driving and expensive hotel to not be able to eat in the dining room.

We just never felt welcome there from start to finish. We had trouble from first day to last. For a hotel of their stature they could of and should have done much better

The hotel sits in a stunning location. We stayed in a suite which was huge and extremely comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and lounge and all meals were if an excellent quality and not over priced. Reception staff and those in the restaurant were very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately we had very noisy guests staying in the room above us on the last night and although I contacted night services they did not deal with it so I had to deal with it myself at 2.15 in the morning. I have been assured by guest services on leaving that this was not the service I should have received so hopefully a one-off. Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

Our stay at Black Rock was fabulous!! James in the restaurant was our waiter for both dinner and breakfast and was so attentive and friendly 😊 so enjoyed our stay!!

the stay was beautiful but the staff at the front desk were incredibly unhelpful and seemed very confused. Lots of construction happening, but overall a beautiful property. We loved the outside rooms and the restaurant.

Stay there every year on our annual fishing trip. This year the service failed to meet expectations. We arrived early for check-in and were advised Guest Services would text when the room was ready -- text never received. When I got to my room. the fold out couch was already down and was unable to fold it up. Called for service which never arrived. Had to go to the front desk. Service personnel advised the sofa-bed was broken. I think it goes without saying the resort should not rent a room when something is not in working order. Despite frustrations, we will return next year.

Black Rock is outstanding. The staff, from the minute you arrive is genuinely happy to help. Simon took our bags but then came to pick us up at our car in the golf cart. Every experience was like this - above and beyond. Every aspect is above expectations. The room was immaculate, well appointed and thoughtful with a soft blanket on the couch, a fireplace and floor to ceiling windows to see the ocean waves and trees. The restaurants were both very good as was the service. We were heading out one rainy afternoon and Simon saw us and stopped us to suggest we take some of the hotel rain coats! A beautiful resort with staff that excels at every turn.

The location exceeded our expectations, clean and close to the trails. The fridge is tiny, but doable for a 2-day stay. The menu at the restaurant was reasonable and we will definitely stay here again in the future.

Beautiful location for west coast visit . Wild pacific trail portion can be walked from hotel , can walk to shops and cafes

Amazing views and there is a great hiking trail that starts right at the property.

Location, location, location! Exceptional way to experience the wild and rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, from the comforts of a five star resort. Walk out the door to hike the Wild Pacific Trail and afterward listen to the waves crash from the comfort of a hot tub, before heading to the Currents Dining Lounge or pub to tip an elbow while taking in a view of the Pavific Ocean that is unparalleled. What’s not to love?

Very nice hotel with all the amenities for a great trip to Ucluelet. Fantastic views, close to town, hikes and beaches. Accommodations top notch. Clean, modern, well equipped rooms. Friendly staff. Easy check in and out. Will highly recommend!

The property is in a great location for exploring the outdoors. Easy excess to the Wild Pacific Trail. Well worth doing.

Loved this resort! We had a 1 bedroom suite and it was absolutely gorgeous! From the huge bathroom to the beautiful view, it was truly wonderful. The beds were so comfortable as were the pillows. It was also convenient to have a full kitchen. The cookies at reception were a nice touch. One small downside was the restaurant. The food was decent but nothing particularly memorable. Flavours were a bit underwhelming as were the choices. Also both restaurants had the same menu essentially. The staff were wonderful though. We had great service. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Liked everything about property & staff. One thing that was a disappointment was the menu. It’s the same in lounge & dining room. It lacks seafood choices. When on the west coast I was expecting more variety like oysters, shrimp or crab. Other than that it’s a very laid back chill resort with stunning views.

We had a one bedroom suite with partial ocean view, room 316. In awe of the waves crashing over the rocks. Room recently renovated, new appliances which took a bit of getting used to. No printed instructions, just QR codes to scan. Struggled with the shower trying to figure out how to adjust temperature. Lighting is poor, small recessed ceiling lights, one floor lamp which we moved to the dining area as needed more light while sitting at the table. We love the location of the Black Rock Resort and have stayed there a few times. Wish the Big Beach Lounge had a different menu than Currents Restaurant. Same food, same prices and just okay except for the seafood chowder, it was delicious. All the staff very pleasant😁

Everything was superb from early morning breakfast to late night dinner. Staff was absolutely excellent, food was amazing and let’s not forget about the view. This was my wife and I first time visiting this resort and we’re looking forward to booking our next visit as our stay was exactly what we needed it and wanted it to be.

Beautiful rooms with a lot of attention to comfort and detail. Great views and perfect location. We enjoyed the quiet, the fireplace, and having a kitchenette. Oddly, much less effort goes to service and dining. No housekeeping and the beach cafe’s food is poor. Breakfasts at the Heartwood were amazing.

Great rooms and surround scenery was amazing. Hot tub and pool were great. Check in was easy and quick. Lovely stay overall! The food and service at the bar was pretty bad so we decided to eat in the town or tofino instead. Didn't try BlackCurrents restaurant but menus are similar so I'd imagine the food will taste the same.

Dinner at Currents was fantastic! Compliments to the chef.

They have two restaurants but only one menu for both. Two resort restaurants should have different menus.

Great location and lovely rooms. Breakfast on the last day was incredibly disappointing, with waiting over 40 minutes for our food and a very poor attitude from wait staff. Spoiled a very nice trip for us.
