Ameristar Casino Resort and Spa (St. Charles)

The room itself was immaculate, spacious and modern enough. The staff were friendly and helpful. They parking was convenient and secure. The casino was a filthy, smoky mess. The "non smoking" section was a joke. Located about a ten minute walk from the entrance, in the top floor to the very back of one side, you have to walk through the entire smoking to get there. Once there, you find yourself in a completely open room, no doors, air curtains or even smoke eaters. The machines were ancient and only half worked. If you need a place to stay, good choice. If you want any kind of luxury experience in a casino floor go somewhere else.

Large room with great views of the Missouri. Very clean. Check in was quick and easy with no wait. Challenges: We stayed on 5th floor and there was marijuana odors which was disappointing and equipment in workout room was not all working. We found one treadmill working but yet paid for the resort fees to include the gym. Pool was also closed day of check in because of lighting. I reported equipment issue in gym. We were there for an hour and nobody checked in.

Other than not being able to enjoy the swimming pool and the hot tub wasn’t available during the hours we had hoped to, all else was good.

I booked this hotel for the indoor outdoor pools and neither was open which was quite disappointing as nowhere did it indicate that the pools were “closed for the season” I understand the outdoor but the indoor pool should’ve been open based upon the price I paid and the fact that they charge a resort fee.

I loved the pool but I wished that it stayed open longer. By the time you check in and get settled the pool is closing.

Pool hours closed to early for guest arriving later than check in

We were very disappointed. It's was a girls trip. Had massages done prior to arriving and we were excited to get to the hotel to relax in the pool and hot tub... only to find it is closed. Nothing was on the description that they close now due the winter.

For a “Resort” it does not have a resort feel on a weekday. Amenities closed…like the poolside bar/grill. If you are poolside you have to go to the Spa or walk all the way to the Casino area to get a drink. Would be nice to have a pop-up when reserving that certain things are closed. Additional restaurant and bar not opened the days we were there. Clean rooms, nice pool, easy parking.

There was hair in the shower drain AND all over the bathroom! There was chips on the floor and cheese on one of the table! The pool is under construction and no one told me! Not a very hot value!

Booked our stay almost 2 months in advance. Showed up to check in at 930pm. Was told our room wasn't ready and they were "running low on rooms". At 930pm! Waited a half hour for access so they could clean a room. The room's wifi was not working. At all. We were there for an internet based event and NEEDED wifi. Called the front desk and was told we needed to call their 3rd party vendor who handles their internet. At 1030 pm at night, my husband spent 45 minutes on the phone with someone from another country who insulted him repeatedly while making him check our static IP address, mac address, etc, and eventually told him it was our devices and not their wifi and we needed to contact the manufacturer (of our 2 Samsung phones and our laptop??? Lol). The wifi issue was never resolved our entire 5 night stay (occasionally if i opened the door to the hall and stood there it helped find the wifi). Finally went to climb in bed at 1115 pm. Blood stains in the sheets as well as pubic hairs. Housekeeping came to change the sheets at 1130pm. We had 2 bath towels for the entire stay. Asked for 2 more to be brought up. Housekeeping never serviced our room once during our 5 night stay. We've stayed at other Ameristars in different states with zero issues. We even stayed at this same one a year ago with only half of the issues we had this time, so we gave it another chance. We will absolutely never visit this one again. Avoid at all costs.

Room very dark dirty and dingy. For the price, cleanliness should be a priority

The room was big and looked good. We only had issues because it didn't seem like the bathroom was cleaned very well. There was lots of hair and black stuff on the shower floor and the drain didn't drain very well. We also were not given any hand soap and one of the sinks didn't drain very well. The bed was made and looked nice but there was a stain on the sheets when we opened them to get in bed. Overall the stay was good but we wish the bathroom was cleaner.

I’ve stayed there on different occasions and this one visit wasn’t too great. The bathroom was dirty and floor was very sticky. Always bring cleaning supplies so I cleaned it.

The room was filthy and we had to leave 2 hours after we got to room because it was nasty. Told the lady at desk and she didn't apologize or anything. We wasted our money and our trip was ruined

Bathroom shower was filthy and stunk. Black mold present. All 4 electrical outlets in bathroom didn’t work! One of bathroom sinks didn’t drain. Broken chair at desk. Main tv was unplugged as were lamps. Room was very disappointing and definitely not prepared for guests!

Room could use some deep cleaning. Staff never brought extra paper products when requested after several attempts, so we had to pick it up ourselves from front desk.

Rooms needed better cleaning

Stayed overnight for a wedding. The king suite was clean, had a large bathroom, and a nice sitting area. The room was very reasonably priced and we had a nice view of the river. Definitely staying again when we are in this area.

The hotel is very nice and the room was great! The only issue was the AC wouldn't cool the room at all so it was uncomfortablely warm.

The room was nice. WiFi was terrible. The website advertised that a refrigerator and microwave came with the room. There was only a refrigerator. When I called to asked about a microwave I was told they could bring one to our room for an additional $30/night.

We were here for a wedding and it was great in the location aspect. The room was clean and comfortable, but did have a strong cleaning scent every time we walked in (better than casino smoke, I guess). Our only issue was the wifi. There isn’t great cell service in the rooms so wifi is necessary. However, the wifi wouldn’t connect for us. We asked the front desk and we were told to call the wifi customer service as it’s a third-party provider. After 17 minutes on the phone with cox customer service troubleshooting no solution was found. We were then told to ask the front desk for an access code. The front desk didn’t know what this meant and couldn’t provide one. We were credited $30 to pay for it though. Everyone was kind but ultimately a lot seemed out of their hands.

Internet options are terrible for any type of business needs - the only available upgrade is $10 a day for 15 mbps internet speeds - had to leave to work offsite for Zoom calls to work - phone service is terrible at the hotel/casino so HotSpot is not an option either.

The wifi wasn't working. No signal! The air conditioning wasn't working properly in room! Hot and humid in room and front desk staff were not helpful! Overall terribe stay!!

The room was spacious and clean. There was 4 of us ladies staying in a double queen room.

Spacious clean rooms. Great view. Only thing missing was glass drinking glasses. Room was quiet, i could not even hear the room next door or above me. I wish there would have been an excersise room. But great location i could walk to the Katy trail. Casino and restaurants were a bonus even won money on the roulette table. The pool was amazing also with great vibes. When i come back to this area, i will for sure booked this hotel again.

Music from the poolside or wherever played all night and was very annoying when trying to sleep and I was on the 14th floor. The coffee pot in the room is located on a lower shelf that when pulled out the cord is not long enough to be extended, very difficult to use. Twice in the middle of the night the TV in the sitting area lost signal/connection and buzzed like a fire alarm and then stopped, what the hell!

We arrived 2 hours prior to the 4pm check in time. They claimed they had some rooms available for early check in but that would cost extra. I said I would just wait and grab a bite to eat. I arrived back at the hotel at 4pm and of course the room wasn't ready. The room wasn't ready until almost 5pm! We were going to a concert and that made us way later than when we wanted to get there. Couldn't get an uber to the show because of the traffic and ended up having to drive. Got into the show 10 minutes before it started luckily. There was an old and musty feeling in rooms. Won't be staying at this hotel again.

we had paid for 2 nights and i dropped a few grand in their casino we asked to get Sunday night comped and were told our player card was too new they did not have numbers on us yet. Seemed like a no brainer to me they had the rooms Sunday night is not a busy night for them. why would they not comp a room so that they could get even more money from me. Seemed like the staff was not on same page as the owners.

Warning: hidden fees!! We arrived at 2:30 to check in. Our room was ready but it would cost $60 plus tax to get into the room. Check in was 4:00. Ridiculous! We did finally get into the room at 3:45 but I had to ask and guest check in had to “get approval”. There is also a resort fee that I didn’t see nor was mentioned when we checked in. Stay at Drury or check with Hollywood Casino. There are other choices near by. I called Drury Inn that is down the block, their check in was 3:00.

Had several issues during check in 1) They lost one of our reservations 2) They wanted $85.00 to check in an hour early We stayed in 2 rooms for 3 nights. 1) 1st day they didn’t show up until 4:30 to clean the room as we were going out. They never showed up to clean the room after that

While we have no complaints about the comfort of the room for our two night stay I have to say that the check-in procedure is completely unacceptable and got our stay off to a very poor start. Ourselves, along with at least several dozen other guests at Ameristar this week were a part of the Missouri River 340 kayak race. I was the paddler in our group and as such had spend the past 67 hours paddling from KC to ST. Charles. All my Id's, credit cards etc were with the remainder of my party. Unfortunately, I was also the one who had made the initial reservation. Since my wife and brother would arrive at St. Charles several hours ahead of me and since they to had been traveling along the river they were tired & dirty and "tried" to check in. They were refused and told that the only one who could check in was myself. This, despite them having not only all my I.D's but also their own photo I.D's which had the same name and address as my own. I could not be contacted and they were refused entry. There is simply no excuse for this. If you choose to hide behind a "This is our policy" reasoning then that's fine, BUT you need to clearly transmit on your check-in policy that only the original payee or any pre-authorized people may check in. So in short, the room, staff etc were great but this check-in procedure made things pretty difficult for us for several hours. In listening to other's we found that many of the paddling group had run into the same problem.

I wish I could give this hotel 5 stars all around as we've stayed there before and always enjoyed our time there. However, we had this be our daughters block hotel for her wedding and 72 hours before the guests were to arrive they began canceling rooms. Not really sure of the reason, construction, busted pipe; we got several answers. For us, our stay was great. They are a nice hotel. They are friendly upon check in and the rooms are great. When I asked about some sort of compensation for those that had their rooms canceled (free parking, uber reimbursement, etc.) I was told "no, we gave everyone 72 hours notice, that's all we are obligated to give". We had our shuttles to the wedding venue leave from there so our guests had to come to the Ameristar even tho they couldn't stay there. Overall, they are a great place to stay, I'd just be very leary if planning a wedding or for your wedding guests to stay there. They don't think twice about canceling rooms there - even rooms that are booked within a wedding block.

We were there on a Friday night and all the restaurants were closed by 9:45pm. The bar service in the casino was not good. They wanted $85 for a two hour early checkin which I did not opt to do but then didn’t have my room ready until 30min after checkin time. Staff at check in counter were less than friendly. A lot less.

This is my 1st stay in December. Last year we stayed 1 night during new yrs but did not enjoy our stay because our room was not clean and security wouldn't let my 35yr old married son in the casino gambling area. He left his drivers licenses in his vehicle at home because he road with me and forgot get it. He has a membership and had his drivers licenses photo copy in an email that he sent to his job. Security still refused to let him in. He does look young but has a few strings of grey in his mustache. Security said they usually let folks in if they look over 21. My son does look young but not under 21. We had a great time this go round. We gambled and won more than we lost. Our rooms were remodeled and clean. Security was kind. The only problem was front desk. They seldom answer the phone. So I decided to let the phone ring and go down to see if it was crowded. Not one person was in the lobby. As I approached the front desk the phone was ringing and the young lady was just sitting there by herself. I told her that it was me calling. It didn’t seem to phase her at all. After I ended my call, the hotel phone started to ring again. No one answered. This is terrible.

Lovely place. Super clean and friendly staff. Closely located to the ever beautiful Old St. Charles.

I found the room to be great, the parking and check in easy and the location was very good. I did not use the casino or restaurant so I can't report on those areas.

Our room was nice. Only complaints were the bed was a little hard, The night stand had a stain on it and the couch was stained up and wore down. The view was nice and the location was convenient. The staff were nice. Overall was a good room.

We ate at the Asian restaurant in the casino and the Mexican restaurant in the arcade, both excellent

Stayed here as there was a concert at Ryse Nightclub we attended. Booked over month in advance. Price swing for the night was pretty substantial but expected for big name concert at nightclub. Pool was alright. Rooms were clean. Thing that disappointed me the most was no amenities or perks whatsoever. Casino free plays? Nope. Complimentary dinner or alcoholic beverages? Guess again. Complimentary BREAKFAST THAT LITERALLY EVERY OTHER HOTELS SERVE….nope. Whenever I asked hotel staff about these she seemed offended I even asked. Stayed at a Drury Inn 20 minutes away from 4 years ago and got service and amenities mentioned above. We won’t be back to this “4 1/2 star hotel“. Want breakfast Waffle House down the street was good.

For my first time ever being there.. nice place but could have been a little bit more service then security.. the bars close to soon and the food places you can only order late at night off door dash.. hope my next stay will be a lot better if I return

Didn’t like There are not any food options in the hotel after 12 during the days we stayed. No room service. Pillows were horrible. Spa could have been a lot better for the price.

The hotel and casino were great. Tried one of the restaurants but couldn’t get served after 10 minutes so we left. Tried another and they were closed for remodeling. Ended up at a nearby place, which was excellent!

Nice hotel,except for very few extras...we spent a lot of money in the casino,and would think they could provide free breakfast...called front desk and was given restaurant hours outside hotel..room didnt even have a microwave to warm up carryout from night before..less expensive hotels have much more to offer

Beautiful, clean hotel and friendly staff. Loved being so close to the historic district. There were so many great shops and restaurants in the historic district. Unfortunately, a lot of the hotel restaurants were not open the 2 nights we were there but the Cafe had a great breakfast. Hotel was very clean and I heard they will be doing room renovations in 6 months. Our shower drain was very slow to drain and we had to turn the shower off several times before we were finished and I let the front desk know as we left since our visit was so short. I also loved that the hotel did not smell like cigarette smoke. You did not smell it until you entered the casino. The non-smoking section was upstairs in the casino and unfortunately smelled like horrible cigarette smoke so we left. We did not plan on gambling much anyway so it did not bother us. We would come back here again.
