Gostei muito da estadia, poderiam ter mais espreguiçadeiras, houve um dia em que chegamos à zona da piscina só havia uma disponível, tudo o resto estava cheio. Poderiam ter também mais entretenimento para crianças (parque infantil, kids club, etc). No buffet da tarde junto a piscina poderiam ter coisas mais saudáveis (por ex. iogurtes, cereais, fruta…) De resto nada a apontar, foram uns dias muito bem passados.

This is an all-inclusive resort, which limits the breadth of drinks offered: there is only one brand of wine that I saw in the dining room, and the poolside bar had a laminated card with a limited number of simply made cocktails. Both the wine and cocktails were good, though. The Riu's app has bonkers areas. A link to the fine-dining room's menu goes to instructions on how to use your phone as a room key. Hitting the back button always took me away from the subject I was pursing to a chain-wide list of all Riu resorts. The room itself was fine, but a little greige for a high-end resort, and the air conditioning needed a boost. The staff were all very, very, very good. A shuttle bus into Funchal was a very good service. Would I return? Probably not. I'd want to stay in town, rather in an area equidistant between Funchal and the airport. And a little more variety in drinks.

The location was very convenient for trips to both the coast and inside of the island, a straight shot from the airport but still quiet, safe and secluded. The property was sparkling clean, including grounds and swimming pools. 24 hrs front desk, quickly responsive to requests such as extra patio chair or ironing equipment. Plenty of lounge chairs available with or without sunshade around the immaculately clean pools. Food variety at each meal included vegetarian, gluten and lactose free options, and mainly catered to the majority population of older European customers, nonetheless, our 10 year old could easily find tasty and healthy options. Nightly entertainment such as live bands, dance shows, magic show, plenty of card and board games available for checking out. The few downsides to mention: as everywhere in Europe, smoking is permitted inside the facilities, even at poolside and in restaurants. Parking at the hotel can be challenging if opting not to pay extra for the hotel maintained lot. Finally, I would say, this is not the best option to stay for families with small children, as the majority of activities and amenities are geared towards the leasurely adult population.

Superbe vue et hôtel de bon standing. Personnel accueillant, souriant et attentionné. Nourriture variée et de bonne qualité bien qu'un jus d'orange frais pour le matin serait un plus. Animation (groupes musicaux, fado, danses moderne et régionale, cirque...) chaque soir différente et de bonne qualité. Salle de sport un peu juste, transats en bon état mais ils serai préférable d'ajouter des matelas pour un meilleur confort. Des couettes peuvent être proposée plutôt que des couvertures.

Greit hotell, men ikke veldig fint. Begynner å bli litt gammeldags. Kunne med fordel vært noe mer opplegg/spill etc for barn. Uheldig at svømmebassenget inne var stengt. Ville dessuten hatt mulighet til å spise a la carte mer enn 1 gang i løpet av oppholdet. Greie nok viner, er jo all inclusive... savnet tilgang til musserende til frokost. Mat terningkast 3/4. God service, og underholdning.

We had a fabulous stay at the Hotel RIU in Madeira! Food The food was outstanding and plentiful. There was food for everyone, and a great selection for vegetarians and pescatarians. Salads, cheeses, gazpacho and other soups every night at supper, meats, fish, fresh fruit, desserts and ice cream. Great selection for kids/ picky eaters, too, including plain pastas and pizzas. Snacks available at Pepe’s Pool Bar usually included French fries, battered and fried zucchini/ eggplant/ cauliflower, and some meat options. One small suggestion: at Pepe’s, it would be great to have a dedicated serving spoon/ tongs for the non-meat food, so that us vegetarians don’t have to use, for example, the hot dog tongs to serve our vegetarian food. In general, it might be a good idea in the dining room to put the vegetarian options in its own section in order to avoid cross-contamination with the meat options. But this is very minor. Pina coladas (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) are delicious! The bartenders were generous with Irish cream on the rocks. Location Caniço is approximately 15-20 minutes from Funchal. It costs about 15 euros by Bolt (the Madeira equivalent of Uber or Lyft), or the RIU offers an included shuttle service. The shuttle to Funchal leaves at 9:30am/10:30am /11:30am. The shuttle returning to the hotel departs from Funchal at 3pm/4pm/5pm. Must reserve a spot on the shuttle 1-2 days in advance. An earlier departure option and later return option would be ideal.

Room was good, ants on first night in bathroom & heating a little noisy, but clean and well kept by staff. Staff were very friendly overall, the upkeep and docor of the hotel was beautiful. All inclusive, was worth it. The food was wonderful. Th entertainment a good touch, one pool cold and barely used, but the other was good.. the indoor pool area could be cleaner. Overall it was a wonderful stay.

Très bel hôtel, aussi beau à l'extérieur qu'à l'interieur. La propreté irréprochable aussi bien dans les espaces collectifs que dans les chambres. Le personnel est vraiment aux petits soins. Les différents restaurants de l'hôtel permettent de manger même tardivement en journée, notamment celui à côté de la piscine. Le cadre est vraiment magnifique comme le reste de l'ile.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner warianty was amazing and lot's of fresh and local produce to choose from. Menu favorites included local seafood and items changed daily. Room was always nicely kept up and clean. We had nice view overlooking the ocean. All the stuff was always super attentive, welcoming and friendly ready to help with anything we needed. This was our first time staying at RIU hotel and I’m already planning my next vacation at one of their properties. Worth every penny.

The atmosphere of the hotel was lively and friendly. The staff always had a smile and a warm greeting at any time of the day. The smell of the salt water intensfied the aroma at any time of the day. Everywhere it was clean including the lavatories. In all, I have already recommended and will recommend the resort. It is a diamond. Bravo to all!!

Excellent hôtel, personnels adorables, propreté irréprochable, buffet très varié et bons. Concert du soir avec de très bons groupes. Tout est vraiment inclus (bouteille d'eau 1,5 L à disposition, cocktails, tous les repas...), possibilité de faire des sandwichs au buffet pour partir à la journée appréciée ainsi que le grand parking gratuit en face de l'hôtel pour garer la voiture. Nous recommandons cet établissement.

We booked here very last minute for a 4 night stay in January. We've previously stayed at Hotel Riu in Gran Canaria so wanted to use them again. It was very good value for money and breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks were included. I liked the fact that you could get drinks at any time so tea, coffee etc. was in abundance. The food is similar to other Riu hotel and you just have to find the "specials" for the day, e.g. fish. Staff were friendly and helped us book an excursion to see the island. Due to the time we went, there were only a few children there. Rooms were very spacious and the shower pressure was very good. The set up of the bathroom meant that water didn't go everywhere when showering. As the Sun hit the room we were in everyday, it did get hot and the air con never seemed like it could get the room cold enough. Luckily, there was also a ceiling fan.

The just refurbished RIU is very modern with an elegant flare. I really liked the white marble tiles. The staff are outstanding and they work hard to make your stay enjoyable. There was some construction noise from the hotel next door, but it did not bother me. The only thing I would improve upon is having a pillow menu. The mattress is perfectly fine but the pillows flatten quickly. Not enough pillow support for the neck. My compliments to the kitchen and dinning staff, they are outstanding.

Room was always nicely kept up and clean. We had nice view overlooking the ocean. All the stuff was always super attentive, welcoming and friendly ready to help with anything we needed. This was our first time staying at RIU hotel and I’m already planning my next vacation at one of their properties. Worth every penny.

Room was good, ants on first night in bathroom & heating a little noisy, but clean and well kept by staff. Staff were very friendly overall, the upkeep and docor of the hotel was beautiful. All inclusive, was worth it. The food was wonderful. Th entertainment a good touch, one pool cold and barely used, but the other was good.. the indoor pool area could be cleaner. Overall it was a wonderful stay.

The staff made you feel like you were family and that you were in their home. There wasn't one staff member that did not treat us in a kind manner going over and above with their level of service. The hotel is beautiful and so is the beach and area in general. Very few of the staff are nice. Most are actually mean. The food and drink are terrible. Better off eating at restaurants and having the freedom to do that. All inclusive is a waste.

Great resort! There was a little issue with a king size bed that I booked being called a request, but the staff was excellent and Maria rectified it quickly. She was great. Highly recommend Riu to anyone going to Madeira.

The property was nice and there is a free bus to Funchal. Handy for a day out. What I didn't like was being lied to. When I booked this trip we were flying with SATA, there was an issue with the plane and we ended up losing a day. from out holiday. So I called directly to the hotel to cancel the one night x 2 so I wouldn't be charged. The employee cancelled the day, or so I thought. When we arrived at RUI Mederia the head lady told us that there was a mistake made and the whole stay at the hotel was cancelled. Before we could check in we had to agree to pay for the rooms that were not used even though I had followed the process. Very disappointed in RUI's handling of the situation. We never asked for the stay to be extended and understood that we were not entitled to an extra day. But, I wanted to be refunded for what was not used.

The location was very convenient for trips to both the coast and inside of the island, a straight shot from the airport but still quiet, safe and secluded. The property was sparkling clean, including grounds and swimming pools. 24 hrs front desk, quickly responsive to requests such as extra patio chair or ironing equipment. Plenty of lounge chairs available with or without sunshade around the immaculately clean pools. Food variety at each meal included vegetarian, gluten and lactose free options, and mainly catered to the majority population of older European customers, nonetheless, our 10 year old could easily find tasty and healthy options. Nightly entertainment such as live bands, dance shows, magic show, plenty of card and board games available for checking out. The few downsides to mention: as everywhere in Europe, smoking is permitted inside the facilities, even at poolside and in restaurants. Parking at the hotel can be challenging if opting not to pay extra for the hotel maintained lot. Finally, I would say, this is not the best option to stay for families with small children, as the majority of activities and amenities are geared towards the leasurely adult population.

The service at this place was out of this world. We felt incredibly taken care of by the entire staff. The hotel is lovely and well maintained. The views are gorgeous however it is not on a beach, it is on a very boulder and rock laden waterfront so worth noting if beach access is important to your holiday. The food leaves a lot to be desired, and because of that I would not come again as a couple however would visit again with children as the all inclusive does make vacationing very easy. We took advantage of booking excursions through the front desk and ended up paying a lot less working with the hotel (bonus!) The excursions were wonderful.

We had a fabulous stay at the Hotel RIU in Madeira! Food The food was outstanding and plentiful. There was food for everyone, and a great selection for vegetarians and pescatarians. Salads, cheeses, gazpacho and other soups every night at supper, meats, fish, fresh fruit, desserts and ice cream. Great selection for kids/ picky eaters, too, including plain pastas and pizzas. Snacks available at Pepe’s Pool Bar usually included French fries, battered and fried zucchini/ eggplant/ cauliflower, and some meat options. One small suggestion: at Pepe’s, it would be great to have a dedicated serving spoon/ tongs for the non-meat food, so that us vegetarians don’t have to use, for example, the hot dog tongs to serve our vegetarian food. In general, it might be a good idea in the dining room to put the vegetarian options in its own section in order to avoid cross-contamination with the meat options. But this is very minor. Pina coladas (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) are delicious! The bartenders were generous with Irish cream on the rocks. Location Caniço is approximately 15-20 minutes from Funchal. It costs about 15 euros by Bolt (the Madeira equivalent of Uber or Lyft), or the RIU offers an included shuttle service. The shuttle to Funchal leaves at 9:30am/10:30am /11:30am. The shuttle returning to the hotel departs from Funchal at 3pm/4pm/5pm. Must reserve a spot on the shuttle 1-2 days in advance. An earlier departure option and later return option would be ideal.

Overall a great resort. It’s location makes it a good option to explore the island. The food at the buffet was fresh. The only minus is there is Only 1 à la carte restaurant on site. If you can have a réservation, the service is so quick you barely can chew your food. All the personnel was beyond perfect !!! Travelling with 4 kids from 7 to 15, its was a great resort.

The resort is amazing, super clean. The buffets are excellent, tons of selections, staffs are very friendly. The room was spacious and perfect. We really enjoy are stay, and we will be back.
