The Waterfront Hotel Spa & Golf

Unfortunately I chose this property as geographically convenient and for the opportunity to swim. The pool 'advertised' is not in the hotel but across 2 car parks (the hotel's and the sports centre) and does not belong to the hotel. I was told I needed to book a time slot. I tried for a Sunday early evening but the pool closed at 4:00 so I suggested 3:00 - no that was booked for families. Okay Monday morning at 7:00 (breakfast finishes at 9:00 in the hotel). I went to find the pool already had 5 people in it and there was a sign saying maximum 5 in the pool. I said I had booked but they shouted at me they were members and did not have to book a slot. I got in and a gentleman got out and I swam for 5 minutes feeling very upset. No towels provided. Luckily I took one with. The breakfast was appalling. Part buffet (limited but ok) and the cooked breakfast was the worst I have ever had. Undercooked greasy fried eggs and the rest was as bad or worse. Hotel to their credit accepted my complaints and gave me a reduction but my one night away did not leave me relaxed or happy. I would add that the room was not in the main building. Quite a long walk in, out and to reception and the restaurant. The room itself was comfy and pretty clean (apart from 2 clipped false nails found on the floor) but surprisingly too hot in the middle of a cold winter. On a ive note all staff were pleasant and tried to be helpful but the pool issue and breakfast 'chef' really need sorting.

I had an important meeting to attend and needed a place to stay overnight. Since my daughter (10 yrs) was travelling with me; I booked a hotel with pool. After my meeting, we arrived at the hotel and decided to go for an evening (6:45pm) swim. We showed up at the One Life building ( the receptionist was rude and lacked decorum; she said that the establisment has nothing to do with the hotel and we should go and complain to the the hotel and not One Life) and was told that we couldn't swim because family time swim was over. The hotel did not state this in their advertisement and normally most swimming pools end family session at 8pm. Therefore, we were stuck in a room with no AC in the middle of a heatwave. I only booked the hotel because it had a pool. I would have been better off booking a hotel elsewhere. Overall, I paid £160.00 for 1 night with a hot room- no AC and no use of a pool. My daughter even called the receptionist and asked if she could go for a morning swim at 7:00am and she was told that she could swim at 11:00 am but that is the check out time. This hotel does not accommodate for their customers- what a waste of money and time! No lie!

First visit, been fully upgraded, really big open spaces, rooms are spacious and comfy. The brasserie restaurant was a nice place to be, good food and great drinks with good, friendly service. Y spa was excellent, just what was needed.

Staff and hotel room clean enough, hotel does not have a receptionist and the iPad crashed meaning waiting with no one to assist for 15minutes. Also the gym, room and restaurant are all in separate building, the gym is a public gym which hotel staff can use and is accross a car park. Dining staff and restaurant setting nice, food was ok but nothing flash. Car parking was very easy and free. I personally don’t like lazy hotels that don’t have receptionists etc and having to walk accross a cold car park in shorts at 6 am was not great so probably would not stay again but for quiet over night stay is a nice place.

Very nice food but some of staff a bit unfriendly. Clean hotel but access to pool too restricted for hotel guests. Great gym though.

Ample parking. Quiet secluded escape on a beautiful waterfront. Just walking through the front entrance with the smell of something pleasant was relaxing. The same high standard was kept thoughout. Spa was full, meeds to be booked in advance. Restaurant was scenic and spacious. The breakfast itself was adequate, but not mmmm. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Gym across the road and hotel only pay for a few memberships, so had to wait for over an hour in reception to get in the gym

This is a little gem of a hotel, while the rooms are on the smaller size they are well equipped and have everything you need (apart from a fridge). Staff are friendly and keen to help, bar area is brilliant with the table top interactive game, shuffle board, interactive darts and ps5’s. Had the duck pizza which was a winner. Didn’t use the spa due to the cost but hopefully will on our next visit. Breakfast was nice and fresh, good coffee and a lovely view of the lake. All in all this is a nice hotel. Highly recommended.

A very relaxing and nice place to stay. The room and bathroom were spotless and the staff were all very professional and friendly. I have to make a special mention of Lizzie (the receptionist) who made an extra special effort to return some lost property to me.

Unfortunately the rooms do not match the hotel lobby/bar or restaurant area. The room smelt musty and very unpleasant. If you are expecting a travelogue sort of room, that is what you will get. Our superior room definitely wasn’t that!

Very disappointing stay bar the breakfast Room was unclean brown stains on the wall in toilet ?? Windows had mould ..hairs on bathtoom floor and 1 complimentary tea bag and biscuit Photos made the place look a lot nicer more of a corporate events hotel

The staff here were super friendly and first impressions were fantastic. Reception staff interacted and were very very welcoming. The hotel itself was extremely clean and my room was fantastic with the bed being extremely comfortable. The bar staff were great and could have a good laugh with them. Overall a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

We stayed because it was our son’s wedding over the weekend so we thought we would go a little more upmarket for the weekend. The breakfast is delicious. The staff are all helpful and welcoming. The junior suits are perfect when getting ready for an event like a wedding, the extra room makes getting ready so much easier. It wasn’t the cleanest but a few stains on the carpet shouldn’t really take too much away from this place. The king size bed and huge and so comfortable too and the showers are decent too. The tv in the room is pretty poor, seemed only 5 channels work but all in all, it’s a nice enough place to stay, maybe a tad over priced but all in all decent enough.

Everything was clean and modern. A very comfortable stay.

Hotel was modern. The restaurant was lovely for dinner and drinks. The bed sheet was stained. No air conditioning which I know was stated when booking but I did not expect the room to be as unbearably hot as it was. Staff were not helpful with trying to find solutions for this. We had to ask for an additional fan rather than be offered it. Seems strange that the hotel has computerised check in machines, robots in the restaurant but can’t afford air con. I thought the cost of the room was too much for how unbearably hot the room was. I will not return which is a shame as the restaurant was lovely.

Lovely hotel and room and the gym was just amazing. But the room was so hot. No aircon, just a little fan and couldn’t open the window. Didn’t get much sleep.

We had a deluxe room which was roomy and had a little fridge with a couple of cartons of water which was welcome. The bathroom was lovely with a rainfall shower. All the staff that we met were polite and friendly. We had a lovely couple of days here, I would certainly recommend the Waterfront hotel.

Extremely noisy with guests playing loud music into the early hours

Pleasant stay, nice location, we were unfortunate in that there was a lot of noise from spa; our room was ground floor and backed directly onto outside pool which was in use 8-late. Breakfast order was incorrect but quickly rectified, good food, nice views from restaurant onto lake. Would stay again but request quiet room next time!

On arrival to the hotel we were very happy with the friendly welcome and our room. Unfortunately we discovered that a heat pump or air conditioning pump was located not far from our window, (By the health spa) the noise it created was enough to give us a disturbed night of sleep as it kept on turning on and off throughout the night. Either the pump needs relocating or the rooms could do with being better soundproofed. Lovely location and a nice breakfast to finish off our stay, would definitely stay again but recommend requesting a room away from the Spa.

The bedroom 205 was unbelievably hot throughout the night even with the fan on. It was 28-30C. Very uncomfortable night.

Lovely welcome, reception smells lovely! I want to know what that scent is ! Food amazing, only a couple things that let it down for us, no A/C for a room that price, it was unbearably hot so we unfortunately had a terrible nights sleep, and no fridge so all our food went off / melted and drinks were so warm, also an information leaflet about local facilities would have helped, times prices etc, but did love the site, lots of games, free pool, outside darts etc

Perfectly okay stay. Nothing special and room was comfortable, but too hot. Auto check-in is terrible!

Room was lovely nice and clean and modern. Hotel clean. Good facilities. Only thing let it down was charged £45 for breakfast when was told it was £15 pp when I mentioned it to staff they didn’t offer refund. Just said help myself to free drinks which wasn’t no good as I had already purchased them

Checked in very late and reception team were on site and helpful as the online tool did not work.

Room very warm, air con very noisy. WiFi wasn’t working as I had work to do, spoke with reception and they did nothing. Food was cold had to be sent back. Very disappointing as it’s been rebranded.

Nice overnight stay for a reasonable price. Flexible support from staff due to limited physical ability, swapped rooms to ground floor for us.

Check in, check out not great. Lost the personal touch. No instruction on check out process. No receipt received...

Lovely hotel , it was just the check in that wasn’t good. There was no one on the reception so we used the self check in machines what was fine until one of the reception staff came up to us saying how good the machines were so he doesn’t have to do anything. Not a good thing to say to guests a bad start. But the rest of the staff were lovely.

Reception staff were lovely. Nice rooms. Very quiet. Restaurant needs sorting. Lunch was a disaster. Food and drinks given to wrong tables. Chicken pesto arrived with no chicken. They insisted on doing another which was then thrown together and inedible.

Very clean room, rather small but ok for one night stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. We did not use any of the leisure facilities so cannot comment. Ideal location for our requirement. Would use this hotel again..

Very nice hotel and location. As on large complex with 3 hotels a little bot hard to find. But lovely stay.

The breakfast room is beautiful - right on the lake-side. There was building work going on, so trying to work from the room was a little frustrating due to the noise. I also found a bug in my room. But the bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Room service choice was also really good. Good value for money.

Nothing special, OK is what I would say. It's also quite expensive. Food and drinks are also pricey. Black Americano was almost GBP 4. you pay under GBP3 in Central London... Food in the Brasserie was poor

Our time at the Waterford was short, so we were not able to see or use all the facilities offered, and give them full review. We will be staying here again. Our only criticism is, the cocktails were very weak & not worth the money, we would recommend at trip to the near by supermarket.

Fab hotel with excellent staff. Definitely the best hotel in the area. Good rooms. Nice surroundings. Lovely food, drink and restaurant.

Nice hotel very quiet area golf and spa also not bad. But terrible food and very expensive.

The hotel restaurant and the room I stayed in were of a high standard and the recent refurbishment offers very enjoyable surroundings. Breakfast was excellent, good choice and high standard. Staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout.

Lovely comfortable room, very clean, spa afternoon was great, it was booked separately. Didn’t use the restaurant as there wasn’t anything we liked on the menu. 1st morning got to breakfast at 8.30am and the cooed food was cold and I had to wait ages for my porridge, we learnt by that and went to breakfast at 7am the next day and everything was lovely, would stay there again if going that way.

Nice place but the towel rail didnt work and noone fixed it so the bathroom was cold especially not good when disabled, they did look but no resolution though there 2 days. The restaurant manager was quite abrupt. The food is excellent but the wine price list is wrong, it was rectified but not friendly. Hotel staff brilliant and helpful
